Great experience overall! Called in day before to book 2 SUP and 3 kayaks. Got a text from Riley on day of to see if we needed any help. Got setup quickly and given the route and highlighted points of interest. Riley even saved the day (more on this later) by taking pictures for us as he showed us where the river was and set us on our way. Pro trip: make sure to secure your GoPro! I lost mine in the river and the water is so murky it was impossible to recover. Lucky Riley took some pictures for us so not all was lost from this wonderful experience. We had a great time paddleboarding at night with Megan and Katie at Rainbow Watersports. It was a really fun & interesting experience for us, and we would definitely book with them again. We initially struggled to find the van along the beach, but it's a blue van with the top and bottom half being dark & light blue. Megan and Katie were so sweet & fun to talk to while paddleboarding. We told them that our feet hurt a bit and Megan gave us stretches/exercises we could do right on the board to help relieve the pain. Megan also did a headstand right on the paddleboard which was super cool! They both took pictures of us throughout the journey & airdropped them to us at the end. Flawless! We randomly saw this van by the side of the beach and decided "why not". There were plenty of kayaks and boards so we didn't have to wait. The instructor was so sweet and took her time to educate us. We couldn't swim on the back, but there was a river right next to the beach that we were directed to. Did SUP this weekend, went up to the rainbow van and Riley set us up with the paddle boards. He gave us a quick rundown of how to use the paddle boards and where to go. Warned us about being careful when passing the rainbow bridge cus of the kids jumping off from there lol. We went up the river by the lagoon area, saw jumping fishes and two turtles floating around. Found the rainbow van yay! Heidi was super helpful and patient. She handed us the paddle boards, explained how it worked, where to go, stored our belongings in the van, even taught us about the kind of sunscreen that was safe for coral, which I absolutely loved! And she offered us to use their sunglasses instead so we didn't have to use our own (in case we lose them). So we go paddle boarding and... surprise, got lost twice lol (that was totally our fault for misunderstanding). So after maybe like 30-45 minutes, we were exhausted already (and frustrated) since we kept going the wrong way. Eventually, we found the right path, saw some really cute sea turtles, came back super dead (way past the 1-hour mark), explained the situation and Heidi was super cool about it. She offered us some water, we got our stuff back, handed the sunglasses and that was it. If you enjoy paddle boarding, I'd recommend it but make sure you know where you're going, don't get lost like we did! read more

We had so much fun with Kate. She was a great instructor and we felt comfortable trying SUP for the first time. We did the twilight glow paddle and it was amazing watching the sunset then the stars. We saw a ton of turtles and Kate captured many photos for us. This company was very accommodating as we were scheduled to do a day where a storm was coming in and they called and offered to reschedule it so we can get the best experience. We definitely wanted to do some SUP while in Hawaii, especially for our first time! I did a quick google search and found the Viator site which had Rainbow WaterSports listed on it. I saw the GLOW SUP at twilight and said "hell yeah" how could we not do this!? It had great reviews and cool pics, so we signed up. They kept in contact with us prior to our reservation and were even nice enough to help us find them if we had any issues. The drive from Waikiki to North Shore was beautiful (a bit traffic-y, but it could've been worse). Our instructors were awesome and very friendly! You even get to hang out with Thor (you'll know when you see him). This is a great way to enjoy the North Shore's beautiful sunset, turtles, tranquility, and amazing nighttime sky. Me and my friend took a semi private lesson (2hr) for paddle boarding, and we both had such a great time. We started from the quiet shoreline, slowly got used to paddling, turning, trusting the board. We made up to the river stream where we saw tons of turtles, learned how to stand up, balance and etc. The instructor was thorough and mindful of each person's comfort level. She also shared great tips and stories(about history, culture, and nature of Hawaii) as we paddled. It felt like a guided tour through the river. Initially we weren't sure that the lesson would worth the money, but at the end we were glad we chose to do the lesson versus just renting the gear. read more

Highly, highly recommend Heidi and Rainbow Watersports. We've been coming to Haleiwa almost every year since 2013. Standup paddleboarding is always on our to-do list every trip, which means we've rented SUP boards from just about everybody. So trust me when I say that Rainbow is hands down the best. Yesterday we saw their awesome rainbow van parked near the Haleiwa Beach Park (across from the Beachhouse Restaurant on Kamehameha Hwy) and decided to just give them a call to rent some SUP boards. Even though they weren't right there, they came back within 20 minutes, just enough time for us to take a quick walk to the Pua'ena Point Beach Park and check out the tidepools and sea turtle on the beach. Heidi and her crew quickly set us up with 3 high quality boards, gave us a quick refresher on the route, and off we went around 4:30 PM. Her boards are some of the newest and highest quality I've rent from the area. She even let us borrow a waterproof pouch for free to keep my rental car keys from getting wet. We weren't sure whether we wanted to rent for 1 or 2 hours, and she was super flexible. When we came back shy of 2 hours, she only charged us for a partial hour, which was a pleasant surprise. The late afternoon / sunset SUP boarding up the river then over to Pua'ena Point was just perfect. We saw over 10 sea turtles in the river, many schools of fish, and the most glorious sunset from the water. They were also doing a twilight glow paddle board experience that looks magical. Finally, as someone who has worked in anti-child trafficking, I LOVE that they support Operation Underground Railroad who rescues children that are caught in sex trafficking. SUP boarding in Haleiwa will always be on our Oahu to-do list, and I'll be sure to seek out Rainbow for our future rentals. read more

We purchased the rental on Groupon at another merchant but when we arrived we found out they were actually temporarily closed. But Rainbow Watersports was there to rescue! Vivi helped us with the dry sand lesson and gave us detailed instructions on the route (she recommended to go to the river since one of us did not have prior experience of paddling). The paddling experience was nice too. We even saw some turtles and some crabs! It rained a little bit and we were literally paddling under the rainbow!! Wish we had taken photos. read more

This was an awesome experience! You can rent from them at multiple beach locations. I showed up at the Hale'iwa Beach parking lot around 0745 and called their number. I spoke with Heidi and told her I wanted to rent a paddle board and a kayak. She gave me prices over the phone and I also asked if she had any of those plastic waterproof lanyards to hold your cell phone, wallet, etc. that I could purchase from her. She only had one but said she would bring it and let me borrow it for FREE. She showed up shortly after the phone call and had everything I needed for a memorable experience. And it just got better and better. She also had sunglass tethers (the ones that help your sunglasses float if they fall off) that she let us borrow. She saw that I had a backpack with me and offered to keep it in their van for me. She briefed me on the equipment, and gave me some tips on where to go to see the sea turtles. I was in the water by 0830 and took the route she told us about. I'll just say that Heidi knows the places to go - take her advice folks. This was an unbelievable experience, and I highly recommend using Rainbow Watersports - Heidi was so nice and made everything so convenient! We were even about 10 minutes late returning to the beach but they didn't charge a late fee! Friendly, courteous, hospitable, good gear, and prompt service at a great value! A great experience. We are beginner SUP'ers and talked to them about the best place to go. We booked with Rainbow because they delivered right to the beach for us and the price was reasonable. I expected them to dump the boards on the beech for us and take off. Heidi was great!! After giving us our boards she actually paddled out with us to show us where to go and pointed out where the turtles were and more importantly where not to go. Our SUP experience was so much better because of her intro. Loved Rainbow Watersports! My boyfriend and I rented a couple of stand up paddleboards for 9AM on a Thursday, and Nikki and her daughter came out to meet us at Haleiwa Beach with the RW van. Along with the paddleboards and paddles, they kindly gave us a waterproof bag to hold our belongings in on top of the board. Once we were out on the water, the path they directed us to was absolutely wonderful-- it was a long stretch on a river, and since it was at an early time we were the only ones out there. Calm, flat water with only our boards leaving ripples behind. Once we were back on the beach and our time was up, all we had to do was leave the equipment where we got them next to the van and go! It was my first time SUP'ing but I had a great time and would do it again with RW. Would definitely recommend! read more

What a deal! Something like $25 a person. Each get a paddle off and they met us at the River up in Haleiwa and told us the route. We had about 45 minutes which was perfect to make it out and back with the sunset. Beautiful, peaceful views. We saw 7 or 8 sea turtles underneath us! And there was a rope swing hanging over the water that was a lot of fun to climb. Great people, great time. 10/10 would recommend. Unfortunately didn't take any pictures. read more

Heidi and kate were so kind and helpful! We did a kayak which was roughly $35 per hour for a two person kayak. They gave clear instructions and let us kayak through the river on our own. It was the most peaceful ride ever and I couldn't recommend it enough! they also have SUP boards and have guided tours to (hopefully) see the turtles. read more

OK. My family is not athletic at all. We saved all year to take a trip of a lifetime and we were all committed to trying new things. Even my Mother in-law who just turned 70 wanted to give paddle boarding a try. So just imagine, Overweight mom and Dad, a 6 year old, 8 year old, 11 year old, a 13 year old and a 70 year old lady all who have never even seen a paddle-board. We were all a little scared and nervous. From the moment we arrived, our instructors went to work making us feel confident and comfortable. Before we knew it, we were paddling next to Sea Turtles, laughing and having a great time. At one point, my 70 year old Mother in law got tired and they literally towed her the rest of the way with a huge smile on their face continuing the good times. We had been in Hawaii for a week and at the end of our lessons and paddle-boarding, my kids said: "So far this is the best thing we have done on Hawaii."
