Wednesday, July 23, 2025. 3:00pm…read more It's so uncomfortable when you're trying to shop in-person after seeing a few cute tops & dresses on their social media, but at every turn, every item you touch or pick up and put down, every new section of the store that you enter; there's a salesperson or security staff quickly darting through or running over to "arrange items" so you know "you're being watched and won't supposedly shoplift." You look around helplessly at other single female shoppers, small families of tourists, couples, and wonder if they're getting the same secret service VIP hawk-eye treatment. The last straw was at the end of shopping (after I tried on the $130 dress, which was upsized too large), I'm looking at the $125 Gola Sneakers (a European father & daughter sitting on a bench unbothered in the middle of the shoe section), and a sales associate darts over carrying 2 pairs of pants and pretends to "arrange" the shoes in front of me on the wall. I stopped and stare at her in disbelief until she's done. She walks away. As I make my way to the exit into Chelsea Market, I see the associate at the front table press on her earpiece. I pass by her and told her how uncomfortable it was being followed around & observed. It makes me want to shop online, if I do want to support the store. She looked at me without hesitation, like she knew I was nearby, asked me to clarify, and did say sorry. I didn't get a chance to mention the fitting room associate using an ethnic Italian accent when helping me look up a size online. Another associate quickly ran into the dressing room and turned off the "Italian" associate's ear piece mic saying that "her channel was on & she was wondering "who was that voice ?!" They both weren't at their posts when I came back out. This is my 3rd time in the store with this surveillance experience. I purposefully went in today - with full make-up and a work outfit, to see if it would be different than my weekend casual, shopping totes outfit. During the last time, the store was very quiet at the end of a winter Sunday. After EVERY time I touched anything, the different associates & black suited security guard counted the number of items (ie. 8 red dresses hangers). I even watched from outside, the front entrance associate go over and count the french-themed sweaters that I looked at. Just wow, profile much? Had a similar experience at their Rockefeller Center location when I used to work in Midtown.

I was visiting your store with the children I nanny on 7/19, and we had an extremely upsetting…read moreexperience with the woman working the register who appeared to be the manager. While the children were excitedly showing me items they found, she repeatedly yelled, "I just want some peace and quiet," while covering her ears. She also loudly mocked the song playing in the store, repeating the lyric, "If you ain't got no money, take your broke ass home," in front of us. Her comments and behavior were completely inappropriate, especially around young children who were simply behaving like excited kids in a store. I had every intention of making a purchase, but after witnessing her behavior, I chose not to spend my money there. As we were leaving, I looked in her direction because I was genuinely shocked by how she had acted, and she responded with a rude, "Can I help you?" in a confrontational tone. I have worked with children for years, and I understand they can be energetic. However, they were not being disruptive or disrespectful. Regardless, no customer--especially children--should be treated with such impatience, hostility, or disrespect. This was some of the worst customer service I have experienced. An employee, particularly someone in a management position, should be held to a much higher standard of professionalism. I hope this incident is taken seriously and addressed appropriately, as this behavior reflects very poorly on your business. I will not be returning or recommending this store based on this experience.

I've been to this location many times without any issues but my last visit was rife with problems. I bought an item that was supposed to have been 30% off plus as a premium member I was supposed to get an additional 10% off, so a total of 40% off. I left the store with receipt in hand and double checked the price. I noticed that the deductions were done incorrectly. The item rang up at a higher price than was marked on the item. Also as a premium member I was supposed to get the discount of the additional 10% off of my item. A woman who was working by the wrapping paper area asked if I needed help because she noticed that I just left and re-entered the store. She was the only Saving Grace, of the employees that worked that day because of her attentiveness and genuine kindness. I told her about the incorrect pricing and she told a man who was by the register the issue. I was met by him with disdain and an attitude. He was visibly annoyed that I needed assistance. He couldn't figure out the math in his head, didn't use the register to help him fix the issue, then after a while, went into his wallet, and gave me the money I was owed with an insult about how much it was that he had to give me. He treated me as though I was the problem. I also had an issue with the young woman who originally rang me up because I told her 3 times that I am a premium member and should receive 10% off of my purchase. That particular day premium members would receive a free small notebook as a bonus which were by the registers. She claimed that I was not a premium member, even though I am one. She was extremely dismissive and refused to give me what I was entitled to 10% off and a free small bonus notebook. I just went into a Barnes and Noble today 12/22/2025 and inquired about my membership. They confirmed that I do in fact have an active premium membership until October of 2026.
