Red snapper, rice and a side salad
Rena E.

This was my first visit. The service was good. The ordering process was easy. The food arrived to the table within about 15 to 20 minutes. I ordered the red snapper and jollof rice. It also came with a side salad, a few plantains and some extra vegetables atop the fish. The sauce on the side was spicy, but very good. The red snapper was served whole and was flaky and was minimally seasoned, but perfect with the accompanying red sauce. The jollof rice was good. The plantains were tasty and the side salad was fresh. The amount of food was plentiful, so much so that I had to take some home. The ambiance had an atmosphere that was welcoming and comfortable. I would like to try the fufu next time because it looked like a perfect comfort food choice.

Case of Starters

This was our first visit to this restaurant; however, they have been around for 20 years. We didn't know what to order, so the gentleman was very helpful. In our usual first-time visit style, we over ordered to get a good variety. We ordered several starters: Bofrot (donut) - too heavy for me. Beef patty - definitely one of the best beef patties. Plenty of beef. Chicken patty - very tasty Beef Suya khebab - a definite yes! I can't describe the spices, but it's good. Fufu Chicken Stew - I liked the Chicken Stew but not so much the fufu. It's the texture thing. Lol. Jerk Chicken with Jollof rice - a definite yes. Waakye (rice and beans)- delicious Plantain - solid Overall, a great experience. Friendly staff. Great food.

Spinach stew with fufu / jerk chicken and jollof rice

Came here for dinner, tried all of the popular dishes, and loved it! My favorite was the spinach/tomato/beef stew with fufu. The employees were super nice and helpful, and the ambiance was cool. We'll definitely be coming back!

Cooked Or Fried Cassava With Fish

I've never ate cassava leaves from a restaurant before but I must admit that I wasn't disappointed. It was well cooked. The leaves were a little bit too purreed for me because I like it a bit leafy so I can chew but overall not bad. They have a big menu so a lot of options to choose from. Update 1: The okra stew is good...the spinach/egusi tasted burnt. I asked for goat and chicken for the okra and they only gave me chicken. Don't take my order down and pretend like i am about to have it my way just for you to make the final decision in the kitchen. Confused

Red Snapper (Baked) with Jollof Rice (Side Order)

Came in on a Sunday and ordered baked snapper, jollof rice and plantain. Sauce for the fish was on side as requested. Food was extremely fresh with great flavor. The portion was huge, a good size for what i was charged. Gentleman taking order was very nice, definitely will return.

Came to pick up chichinga!

I've been coming to this restaurant since it first opened in the early 2000s. Before my parents went back home to Ghana, we would come here when my mother didn't feel like cooking. I almost always stuck to the chichinga and bofrot or puff puff. Both the chichinga and bofrot are like a warm hug of familiarity. The staff is so friendly. I recently dropped in for some of the popular Ghanaian street food mentioned above, but I also was able to get a couple of bracelets with my horoscope sign and my name for the day that I was born (Abena). Give them a try, you won't regret it!

Ox tail jamaican style
Natalie M.

Got delivery from this place. The ox tail was delicious but I didn't realize it would be spicy. The flavor was amazing. The peanut soup want spicy so it balanelced it out. It came with fufu but I'm not a fan of it. The soup was awesome. It had more flavor than just creamy peanuts. The meat was soft and almost fall off the bone.

Fufu

I was very excited to try Fufu for the first time. It was a horrible experience. There was a bug in the fufu.

I got this random craving for African food, not having ever tried African food before. No, I'm not…read morepregnant. I did some research and found pretty good reviews about this place. I had a stressful workday so I decided to reward myself with some delivery for a late lunch. I ordered via Postmates and it arrived 5 minutes sooner than originally estimated. The food was still hot when it arrived. Jollof Rice with Fish: The rice with the tomato stew was just the flavor profile I was craving. The inside of the meaty fish was cooked perfectly. However, the outside had lost its crispiness by the time I started eating probably because of the steam generated in the container. I do wish I had more of that stewed tomato sauce as well. It was just a lot of rice and meat with not enough stew. They serve a portion that is big enough for two to share. I ate half and saved the other half for later. Pepper Soup with Goat: The pepper soup is spicy! Not just "pepper spicy," but also "spices spicy." There was plenty of goat and a lot of tendon-y, tender pieces which I love! There was nothing else in the soup but goat, a pepper, and spices. It is definitely more liquid like a soup, not a stew like I was expecting. Still delicious. I also ate the rest of this as another meal. I just threw some kale and corn in it to make it more of a meal. I would definitely get this again. Hopefully the next time I am craving this, it will be safe to dine in again.

I didn't realize where the restaurant was located beforehand, so I was a little surprised when I arrived. It's in a very urban area, which may or may not matter depending on your comfort level. There was a decent amount of seating inside if you choose to dine in. The restaurant was okay in terms of cleanliness, but personally, I'd opt for takeout. I originally planned to eat inside but changed my mind once I got there. Unfortunately, the customer service wasn't the best. I wasn't greeted when I walked in, and when I received my order, the takeout container wasn't fully closed and was placed halfway into the bag. I'm not sure if it was just an oversight, but it didn't leave the best first impression. Now, the food, that's where they won me over. Everything was well-seasoned, and the suya had just the right amount of spice. They were out of the vegetable I originally wanted, but I'm actually glad I tried the corn because it was absolutely delicious. And that suya butter sauce? It was the star of the meal! Overall, while the location and customer service weren't my favorite, the food was flavorful enough that I'd come back if I were in the area and craving suya.

We came here on a Thursday night so maybe that's why everything didn't slap as much as I would've liked. The jollof didn't have a ton of flavor or spice, but they have tomato based pepper sauce a medium and an extra hot that adds flavor and spice to the rice. The meat and chicken was a bit dry and hard. The fish wasn't seasoned much. The portions are big and customer service was kind. They had a fairly big menu. We ordered: Suya rice 8/10 (best thing here to me) Attike w/fish 6/10 Jollof rice with chicken and beef 6/10

The food is Ghanaian so you'll find a lot of west African staples here. I ordered their Suya rice with chicken and beef. My wife ordered the acheke with fried fish and ordered a plate of jollof to take home. The suya fried rice was my favorite dish. It's one of their own creations but it's a fried rice with suya spice in it. It's not as spicy as I personally like, but I'm a huge fan of spice so I imagine it's a good level for most people. The jollof was also pretty good. I'll say that the chicken and beef in both the jollof and suya fried rice were a little dry, but they had good flavor to them so it can be overlooked. The acheke was standard for what I expect from it. The fried fish could have used a little bit of seasoning but was fine to go with it. Food took about 20 mins to be cooked but I appreciate that it's done fresh. The service was great! Kevin was the one who took our order and helped us with any additional requests while we ate. Definitely love the soul he adds to the restaurant. The ambiance is pretty casual. The one thing to note is that the parking lot can be a bit small so parking may take more than one try if you have a bigger car.

Here, it was love at 1st bite! As soon as I had my 1st taste of suya, my mind went straight to FESTAC in Lagos (ie: some of the best suya I've ever eaten). This place gets it SO right, I called my sister out of state and told her she needed to try them ASAP...my real time review was so glowing Sis asked me to ask Ms. Hajara if she shipped cross country! Speaking of Ms. Hajara, she is THE sweetest, most sincere restaurateur I've met in years. Her vibe translates to the food: not ONE bad bite. I was introducing my date to Nigerian food, so I kept our choices basic. But even their basic entrees taste spectacular! So I'm sure the spectacular dishes must be beyond....I can't wait to try the rest of the menu... (Ms. Hajara even offered to look into shipping to my Sis). This place deserves to win. And will. I'm a DC resident & WILL make the intentional trek to return. ...and if I find out they deliver to DC, a few Aunties are about to be demoted (shhhhh!)
