    Large Veggie Sampler Platter

It is a wonderful gem, hidden away in a strip center with authentic Ethiopian food. Their lentil samosas are to die for perfectly crispy with a great dipping sauce. We ate our first batch and had to order a second one. We ordered the vegetable sampler large and the lamp stew. Everything was perfectly flavor, delicious and savory. The vegetables were wonderful. The only thing I did not like was the lentil with lemon. It had an odd taste. Our service was very good. The lady/owner was friendly and offered suggestions. It was the customers who told us what to order and they were right on par. We will definitely go back. It has a nice slow atmosphere. Don't go there expecting things to be rushed as it takes time

I love the incense, the aroma of this restaurant as soon as I walked in it hit me, it felt like I was walking into someone's home. The medium veggie sample plater was honestly enough for two people, I was very grateful that I received two doro wot because there was a lot to dig into! I love this platter because it is vegetarian and healthy if you want to take a break from eating meat, although they do have meat options. The sides were simple, filling, and unique, I really enjoyed every bit!

I ordered kitfo made raw and veggie samosa! This is my staple order throughout all of DC and Maryland. This is one my favorite spots for kitfo!

Large Veggie Sampler Platter (4 stars) and Awaze Tibs (5 stars)

This might be my new favorite ethiopian restaurant. The flavors and spices were on point. The only thing I think there is room for improvement is that the tibs could be more tender. We split the awaze tibs, tibs derek, vegetable platter, and kitfo. I would order them all again. -Definitely ask for mitmita. It's technically for the kitfo but I enjoy it on the tibs as well

I've never had Ethiopian before, but I will definitely be eating it more often in the future. This was DELICIOUS. The price was excellent for the amount and quality of food, and parking was very easy. The owner was very friendly and attentive. If I'm ever in town again I will definitely be back.

Wonderful experience, there was a ton of parking and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with deciding on what to get. It is nicely decorated inside and has a welcoming atmosphere that makes it the perfect spot for a quick lunch or a dinner with friends. My mom and i shared our dish and added extra chicken and we had enough for leftovers. The carrots were my favorite part, but the bread was so light and fluffy and the chicken was the perfect blend of spice but not too spicy. Will have to come back and try more.

We popped in here for lunch. Never had Ethiopian food before but my son wanted to try. The owner/chef greeted us and was very nice. We tried a combo plate and shared. Also, an order of Samosas. Very good. Next time we may ask for extra spicy! .

If you're looking for fantastic Ethiopian food, this is the spot. My boyfriend and I came here on Sunday and the food and service was wonderful. We ordered the asa gulash, awaze tibs, lamb stew, and shiro. All four dishes were perfect. The awaze tibs were spicy and tender, the lamb stew was flavorful and tender, the shiro was seasoned so well. And, my favorite, the asa gulash was everything I wanted it to be. The tilapia chunks were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. We will definitely be back.

This was my very first time trying the Doro Wot. It has really good flavor. It came with greens, chic peas, and an egg. Everything was very tasty. However, for $22 + tip, I do not expect to get 1 baby chicken drumstick and a ton of Injera. I did not pay $25 for a container of bread.

Two plates, spicy and not spicy.

A humble but delicious Ethiopian experience…read more Tigi's Ethiopian Restaurant is the best Ethiopian restaurant in Howard County. While it doesn't sport a large establishment with only modest decorations, the quality of the food they serve makes it well worth repeat visits. Tigi serves traditional Ethiopian food, small blended dishes, typically pastes or chopped meats and vegtables, heavily seasoned and topped on injera, a flat spongy bread that has a hint of sour flavor. The injera is both your plate and utensils as you tear off chunks of it to grab and scoop your other dishes. Ethiopian food is typically communal, shared among friends and family, but Tigi offers smaller portions that can be personalized if you're more comfortable not sharing. If you're new to Tigi, or Ethiopian food in general, I suggest their Meat Combo 3, which offers three different meat dishes and three different vegetable dishes. You get some level of customization for the dishes, and I suggest getting a beef, chicken, and lamb dish and any of the vegetable dishes that catches your eye. The vegetable dishes are also vegan friendly! I don't suggest ordering extra injera, as Tigi provides a mountain of them with any of their combo meals. One of Tigi's biggest strengths is that you can order their food to go, making them the first Ethiopian takeout spot I've ever been to. Tigi also has a small connected store that acts as an Ethiopian market. If you love Ethiopian or want to try it, Tigi's is a great spot in Howard County.

At first glance, I wasn't impressed ( yeah yeah judging a book by its cover... I know better) I was wrong. The food was very flavorful, generous, and downright satisfying. We started with the sambusas (meat and veggie). They were good, though a bit mild (personally for me), I still give the edge to an Indian samosa, but that's just me. The combo is absolutely the move. We shared a three-person platter with lamb, beef, and chicken tibs, plus a variety of vegetarian dishes (see photos). Everything came served on rolls of injera, the spongy Ethiopian flatbread. This is a hands-on meal. As in, you eat with your fingers. Yes... it was glorious. The presentation is classic Ethiopian style: a large platter lined with injera, topped with meats and vegetables spread out like they're feeding 50 million people. The trick is to tear off the injera under the food, not the extra rolls, because it soaks up all that flavorful gravy. It's harder than it sounds, but totally worth it. The main dishes were very flavorful. I was genuinely impressed by both the quantity and the depth of flavor across the entire meal. These are the happy surprises I live for. Highly recommend giving it a try.

When you go in, you have to have the mind set that it is a small business restaurant. I think it's because when I hear James Beard, that service is a part of it. They didn't know what beers they had or wine. I had to think what beers would be here based on me being at a Guyanese event! lol. The food was OK! It wasn't mind blowingly good. There is another Ethiopian spot in SS that was so nice and extremely good food so I thought this would be 10x that. This is small, but there was no music and it was sooooo bright in there. I feel like all of that sets the mood for the experience. The positive is that it is still extremely reasonable. We walked out of there with a $60 bill, which was two beers, beef and veggie platter and a side of rice and chicken drum. Also, you are still supporting small business when you go and not some chain.

It didn't deliver on that in person. The windows (which are directly pointed at the sun for much of the day, to be fair) were blotted out with a TV screen in front.
