CMLC has many reasons for your child to attend! CMLC focuses on making connections with children while implementing positive reinforcement when needed. My favorite aspect is the Curriculum provided! Your child will learn many skills provided through structured activities. In addition CMLC provides Math, Literacy, Creative Arts, Music & Movement, Steam Stations and Reading daily. CMLC also assesses children daily so that you can see your child's progress during conferences. Seeing children grow & learn over the past 2 1/2 years has been so fulfilling! As a teacher watching the kids learn a new number, a new letter, start to draw people or even write their names are huge milestones. In addition to providing care for your children, CMLC focuses on deep cleaning their facilities daily. We have checklists to make sure that by the end of the day, it is spotless and ready for the next day. Lastly, CMLC focuses on structure and daily schedules. Your child will learn structure and will know what is always coming next in their day. This is a great program and the focus is to make sure you know what went on in your child's day and how they are progressing.

So, I began seeing a mental health counselor in Seattle who strongly believed in the mind/body connection. While attending therapy sessions it was apparent that my work life was negatively impacting my physical/mental health, and I knew it was time to make a change. Through the therapist's recommendation to try Somatic Bodywork to augment our sessions, I came across the Soma Institute and felt like this could be a great way to learn more about my body. With zero bodywork experience, I crossed my fingers and signed up for the Somassage Workshop. I'll be honest, I had no idea what I was walking into but from the second I stepped into the school on Whidbey Island I felt an instant sense of positive energy, lightness (which I hadn't' felt in years), and hope that this could be the antidote to all the years of burn out I had been experiencing. My first impression proved to be an understatement because I am now a full-fledged STUDENT at the school, working towards my Soma Practitioner license and it has literally changed the course of my life. Whether it's the magical setting of Whidbey Island, the genuinely kind, caring, and professional instructors, or just the incredible Soma work itself I feel like I am now part of this special community of practitioners that truly helps to transform people's lives. The biggest learning lesson so far is that we are not working 'on' the body but rather 'with' the body as a tool to help it heal all on its own. The Soma Institute and faculty couldn't provide a more peaceful yet challenging atmosphere to learn in. Going back to school after so many years out of college was pretty overwhelming but I woke up every day eager to take in more. I wholeheartedly recommend the Soma Institute to anyone looking to work in the bodywork field as their first profession, or to someone like me, looking to make a complete career shift. I am not only receiving top tier education in the field of Structural Integration, I am finding meaningful personal healing and a stronger sense of purpose through helping those around me.

I learned so much about myself, bodies, and therapeutic touch there. I made life long friends and community that promote continuous learning and empathy to leave the world more healed than we have found it. Having used what I've learned to work with many others I can say that the philosophy and touch that Soma teaches and promotes can have a profound effect on all that receive it. Thank you Soma Institute for the life long lessons and connections!

This place has gone from great to disgusting and unsafe over the past couple of years. Management…read morehas turned over a couple of times since then and teacher staff is now a revolving door. We just pulled our daughter out of there because they aren't even pretending to apply a curriculum for pre-k. They're babysitters, now, and not even very good ones at that. Most recently, we found soiled clothing stuffed into her backpack with her other clothing, sheet, and blanket. Not in a bag, just right into her backpack which now is soaked with urine. My four-year-old doesn't often have accidents, but good lord, what lazy, thoughtless person thought this was ok? During the pandemic, staff was supposed to be masked. Almost daily, either on dropoff or pickup, there were staff seen in classrooms or in the office (the part parents and kids walk though) either completely without a mask or the mask pulled down. Every time I brought it up, I was told that they'd "mention it in a staff meeting" or confirm that yes, it is their policy for staff to mask up. Regardless of your views on masking, the fact that they just didn't enforce their own policies that are supposed to be in place for safety, is unacceptable. The owner, Tom, also spread misinformation during the pandemic regarding masks and other preventive measures via signage posted at the center and at the summer camp location. This place started going down hill quickly when the director (a couple of directors ago, I think) left. Andrea was the last good one, but it was clear that she was being hamstrung from actually doing anything good there. I know it's tough finding a child care center these days, but please, if you have the option, look elsewhere. I'm sure there are other places just as bad or worse, but I no longer trust this place to keep my child safe and certainly not to prepare her for kindergarten. The dozen or teachers who have cycled through that room in the past few months have been uninterested in getting to know the kids, have completely ignored kids who clearly needed attention, were downright mean to kids (witnessed during dropoff on numerous occasions). If you can help it, please trust your children to another center. Also, the five star review that this is updating was written with the promise of a starbucks giftcard. I'm not sure how many other positive reviews are genuine.
