I was recommended Rainbow Cleaners after growing tired of having my shirts mauled by a different dry cleaner. The only service I get here is laundry and the occasional spot of dry cleaning. I don't have any experience with the tailoring. I have never found anything wrong with my items, and more importantly, unexpected touches (like sewing on a replacement button for one that was already gone) help make the difference. And - my buttons don't come back half-melted! That in itself is worth 2/3 of the price! read more

They do good work - but, like other reviews here you have to be careful of the bait and switch on the estimates on the tailoring. Needed cuffs on a new jacket shortened and also the vent sewed up. They rang it up for $32, but when my friend picked it up for me the cost was $47, despite the ticket showing $32. Yeah, they did a great job, but when one either can't estimate the job correctly - or downright lies about what the cost will be - they will not get my business again. read more

I've been using Rainbow Cleaners since I moved to the area 10 years ago. They have done all of our dry cleaning and alterations and everything has always turned out great. The owner, Suzy, is awesome. Always friendly and willing to help. I have brought her ripped clothing that I simply thought was impossible to fix and have it still look good, but she can do it. Sometimes Suzy has fixed seams or buttons I didn't even notice were torn at no additional cost. One thing I'll never forget about Rainbow is when we had used their dry cleaning service only a handful of times. We then moved away from the area for about a year. My wife had left a jacket at Rainbows and forgotten about it. When we moved back, she went to drop off our dry cleaning and Suzy not only remembered her, but went to the back and brought out her jacket! It is this type of service that makes Rainbow the only place we will ever use! read more

What a disappointment....I was referred by Gamberdella to take my wedding gown here to be cleaned and preserved - huge mistake on my end! I should have done my homework.... I dropped off the dress in early July, asked how much it would cost and I received a very vague answer - err starting $180. Yesterday (August 6th), they called to let me know that it was ready and when I arrived, I was presented with a big fat bill of $450!! I could feel my blood boiling and I felt totally taken advantage of... After 15 minutes of negotiating, she finally took it down to $375, but I was still pissed leaving the store and wish I had gone elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and do not go to Rainbow Cleaners in Cockeysville. They are such a rip-off!! read more

I used this dry cleaner to clean my winter coat and they saw buttons were loose and had a service to mend. They told me how long it would be to clean and mend, and a pick up ticket with the total cost (that I paid at pick up). Very nice and friendly. My wife brought a dress here to be altered and they estimated $80-100. On pickup they charged us $254 and denied ever giving an estimate in the first place. The whole reason she picked this place was because of the estimate. They basically scammed us with a low estimate to get our business then charged us through the nose to get the dress back. Stay away from this place. read more

THIS DRYCLEANERS IS SIMPLY THE BEST...BETTER THAN ALL THE REST! I don't know how other people reviewed Ms. Susan and Rainbow so poorly. I don't have any skin in the game, but Rainbow Cleaners is the best Dry Cleaners that I have EVER been to in my life. They offer a topnotch product and unparalleled service. I have taken clothes there nonstop since it was recommended to me from a coworker. Furthermore, she has repaired clothes for me that I thought that I was going to have to throw out and made them look new again. Saving me oodles of money. I would recommend this cleaners to anyone. In fact, I work in Timonium, now, but I live in Harford County. But now that I found this dry cleaners. I would drive from Harford County to have my cleaning work done there rather than give my business to anyone else along the way. I can't believe any other negative reviews based on my personal experience. Ms. Susan trust her customers and I trust her with my dry cleaning. If you are a regular customer, I have even seen her let people take their clothes when they forgot their check book. Her response: "All of my regular customers have good credit with me." Where else do you see something like that. I don't. Kudos to Rainbow Cleaners. I am sure that her business will grow because of the services that she provides. I guarantee if you try her once, especially with a large order you won't go anywhere else either. She appreciates her customers and you will appreciate the way she treats you. If I could describe Rainbow Cleaners in one word it would be the same word that it was described to me. AWESOME. That word is often over used. In this case it is not. They are truly awesome. I dropped off 7 pairs of pants to be hemmed and 2 shirts to be dry cleaned. When my wife called me and told me the bill, I just about had a cow. $418!!!! I was expecting $80-$100. The worst part, you can't even tell how they came up with that amount. It looks like they charged me $50 for the dry cleaning for the 2 shirts. Unbelievable! The irony, is that her work is very well done. If it was in about $150 or less, I would be writing rave reviews. However, its a total scam. I would not, REPEAT, would not go there unless you have negotiated the price IN WRITING prior to dropping it off. Its a complete scam and a wonder that it was completely empty when I went in there. read more

I too went to Rainbow Clean and Press on the recommendation of Mia at Garnish Boutique. Mia talked about how amazing Sue is and how affordable. After seeing this first review (second was not posted at the time) I went in to get an estimate from Sue. She gave me a verbal estimate for each part of the alterations (bust, hem, bustle, steaming) after much pushing from me. I wasn't going to use her unless i got an estimate due to the review. The estimate was on the higher end, but in the range I expected. My dress said no steam on it, so I thought we could cut the price down by skipping that. I went ahead with using Sue. It is true she does good work. The dress fit well and everything looked ok. I did feel rushed at fittings. Like she didn't want me to spend enough time to find any issues. She also didn't let me choose the bustle. She immediately did a 5 point. I understand they are less likely to get ripped out, but when trying to manage budget, maybe a 3 point would have saved me $50. In the end, when it came time to pick up she added an extra $100 to the bill. She said it was because the hem was harder than it looked. But she never mentioned it to me on my multiple visits. Nor did she call while working on it to ok the higher price. She also refused to skip the steaming. which just seems odd since the dress specifically said not to steam. Luckily nothing happened to the dress, but i feel like i paid for something I didn't need and didnt want. So in the end I ended up paying $60 more than the high end of her rough estimate. I flat out told her I couldn't pay the original $100+ over the estimate. Buyer be ware. I thought I had gone the proper route by asking for prices on everything. But in the end she still decided to randomly hike the price up. read more

This is a hard one. I went here on the recommendation of Mia at Garnish Boutique, in order to get my wedding dress altered to fit me better. It didn't occur to me to ask prices as we figured out what needed to be done- but I should've. They did a great job making the dress look like it was made for me- and then charged me over $300 for the work. That was more than I had paid for the dress! Keep in mind: the dress is not a wedding dress- it's not a flouncy big white thing. It's a short bridesmaid dress that needed to be tucked in, hemmed an inch or so, and have the shoulders raised a half inch each. NO WAY SHOULD THIS HAVE COST SO MUCH! Yes, they did a great job, but if I had the foresight to ask for prices before leaving it there, I would've found another place to do the work. I could not agree more with the other review that rated Rainblow Cleaners a FIVE. I had a cocktail dress and matching coat which needed alterations. The dress needed alterations from the waist down and it is a lined dress. The completed product is fabulous. One would never be able to tell alterations of any kind were made. I have been to other tailors that have literally destroyed my items to the point where I would not even consider wearing them. I did not find the cost of $70.00 for both items to be excessive. You have to pay for a good tailor and this is definitely a place I would highly recommend if you want the job done right. This will be my go to place in the future. read more

This family-run business provides extremely high-quality alterations tailoring and can be trusted with complex repairs or alterations on fine clothing. Quality work should be expected to cost more then run-of-the-mill work, and I do think it is fair to say that the prices here are higher than average. While it is not always true that you get what you pay for, at Rainbow, I feel strongly that you do. To avoid unpleasant surprises, however, I would certainly discuss with Sue what the anticipated cost of the repair would be. Sue is a TERRIBLE person. I am a soon to be bride and my wedding dress needs to be altered. I called a few bridal stores to see if they could accommodate me and they were all busy but Gamberdellas in Towson recommended Sue by name so I decided to go to her. She put the pins in the hem and the sides that needed to come in and she asked me if I wanted to know a price before we proceed. I was assuming it would be at very most $400 because I know multiple brides that have had alterations don't in the Baltimore area all around $250. Sue looked at my dress for a few minutes and she said it would run $900 or more!! For a hem, sides taken in and a bustle! I immediately started crying (wedding is 1 month away and I have a million things to stress about) I told her the dress only cost me $850! She said I would have to go somewhere else. I walked out of the store in tears and made a few calls and my hubby to be told me he would pay for it if that's what it costs. So I got myself together and went back in and told her that if she thinks that is a fair price I would like to have her do my dress. She didn't even look at me and she just said "no". I was in shock and started crying again and I said, "what do you mean no?" I continued to literally beg her to do my dress because for some reason, I thought she was my only option with the wedding only 1 month away, and she continued to turn me down. What kind of a terrible person can look at someone crying and begging them to do a service and just say no to them. Sue had no emotion and she is a terrible person. I will tell everyone I know to NEVER get anything cleaned or altered here. Also, on a side note, I found another bridal store to do my dress for $275 for everything including sewing the belt on (which Sue said would be extra on top of the 900). She does excellent work, and goes out of her way to be helpful to her customers...most of whom she knows by name such that as you enter the shop she is already looking for your pick-up order.
