We had a wonderful time. It wasn't that expensive. I think you pay more to see the Grand Canyon. Our pilot was very skilled unfortunately it was a cloudy day, which was safe to fly, but we couldn't get the best photos. I would recommend this place. Scotty is wonderful. It was a great flight over the falls. The whole staff was very friendly. The pilot wasn't very social after the flight he kind of ran off before we finished with the picture person as it's the first stop upon return so we were unable to tip the pilot. But overall great experience. read more

Excellent helicopter and great pilot. You will enjoy this flight. Yellow helicopter sits on a small roof of a yellow building close to the entrance to Canada. If you enter Canada.. oooh well... goodbye... or au revoir. Just kidding. There's a last chance turn around exit to boot you back into the USA. The falls are great. Helicopter takes you up to 2500 feet for about 8 minutes. You can get some cool distant pictures of the falls from high altitude. My suggestion is to takes several photos / videos at the high altitude. Then the other 12 minutes you can get better pictures of the falls at lower altitude. Keep your cameras rolling soon as you clear the trees before the falls. But for me, the big winner was when the pilot made a cool right bank orbit and quick descent over Goats Island skimming the treetops like Apocalypse Now and screaming over the waterfalls and down the Niagra River with a cool right bank back to the rooftop helipad. Awesome flight and experience all around! Booked the package deal Niagara Falls Helicopter Tour with Whirlpool WetJet Boat (strongly recommend the power seats on the jet boat as well). We did the jet boat first and got a voucher for the heli-tour. Went to Rainbow Air the next day, didn't have to schedule a time (first come first serve). Checked in, they weighed us, and showed us how to use the inflatable life vest in case of emergency-- staff was friendly and excellent. We were behind one couple, so all in all the wait was nothing. Plus you can park right in front of the building for free! They give you head phones to noise dampen but no microphone to talk to whomever you brought on the flight with you. They fly up and over to the falls, do a buzz-by and then turn around and buzz the falls on the way back to the airport. Flight is about 15 minutes and was perfect, not turbulent at all. Exceptional way to get a view of the falls without having to see it over other tourist's heads. $562 for 3 adults (Jet Boat and Helicopter)-which I thought was a tremendous value. Giving two stars for: 1) Great views! 2) parking available 3) no reservation required Took 3 stars out for: 1) told us to wait 5-10 mins but had to wait about 30 mins 2) space inside the helicopter was too tight. We were seated in the front. Total 3 people in the front including the pilot! We could barely move our arms. Paid $110 for a 10 min helicopter ride, my first, and I thought it was amazing. The view you get of New York and Canada is unbelievable. Best money spent. I went early Monday morning. Waited no more than 15 min. Seating was tight but it was just me and a friend and we got to enjoy the view from above. After our flight, one of the crew members took our photo in front of the helicopter. However, he was doing so when another group was going on. Then, as someone else mentioned, asked for tips for the pilot. He took a dozen photos so I spared some singles, but wasn't to fond of that. Overall, enjoyed this experience and would suggest others to do that same if they have the chance! read more

I'll start of with the fact that I had a great time. The staff was very friendly, the pilot seemed very experienced and flew over all the right places. I think though all of this was to be expected at $10 a minute per person. The company works only on a first come first serve basis and at times the wait could be a little long, we waited about 45-55 minutes for our flight but I passed by there the next day and there was no line at all. The flight itself was fun with a great view out the large windows but a bit short, only 8-10 minutes long; never inquired if longer flights were available. We came here on our honeymoon this week. Yesterday my husband called to make a reservation for today but we were told it's a first come, first come basis so we figured we could come at any time during the day. We arrive at 3pm to find the business is closed. Hoping they were on a tour, we waited around but decided to ask the neighboring business (Three Sisters) if they knew anything. She explained if Rainbow doesn't have business early upon opening, then they close up & go home. I wouldn't be so let down if this wasn't the only helicopter tour on the United States side. This is the place to go if you want to see the majesty of the falls. Nothing can top the views that you get from altitude as you fly across the American and Canadian falls. WOW! You will get a view no matter what side of the helicopter you sit on since they turn around and come back on the other side. Either way, a win-win! Its first come-first served so just walk up. We thought.. What the heck? If there's ever a time for a helicopter tour it's over Niagara Falls. Wrong. $100 bucks for 7 minutes (they said 10, but I took a video.. 7 minutes from take off to landing), they rush you and then they push you for tips. There was 3 of us... so they took in $300 for that 7 minute tour! Pay the pilot more money instead of begging the customers for it....Seriously, give a tip for what? The pilot didn't even acknowledge us. if they book up back to back every ten minutes for an hour.... do the math. $1800 an hour. Raking in cash while offering a tired whirlwind tour...and then begging for more money. For my $100 7 minute tour, I expected a photo by the helicopter... nope. No pictures. Rush on down. NOT WORTH IT. The view is great, that's why they get 2 stars. If they were courteous I would have given 3. The owners should be ashamed of themselves. What an amazing flight. Truly a bucket list adventure. And the employees couldn't have been nicer.

We researched the tours first and came up with Rainbow tour as the best choice. After waiting 1 hour while the solo pilot took a needed break, The ride was supposed to be 10 min for 105$ we had a coupon so it was $100 however when I boarded and buckled into the helicopter I started my video before take off and it was 7 1/2 min from start to finished. It may not seem like a big difference but at $100 a pop I want my full 10 min. Also I asked multiple times for the front seat and the couple who was behind us in line got the front seat. I was told that every seat was good and you see the same from all seats. Not true I was behind the pilot and if you are in the front you have a birds eye view not a side window. The ride was amazing but I was nervous when another helicopter flew right under us above the falls. Is that even legal? When we landed we were pressured to "tip the pilot" which I did because we landed safely, not because he went out of his way to make our trip special. There are lots of tour companies to choose from so compare apples with apples before you go. I would have given 2 stars but we did complete a safe journey from start to finish. read more

This was a horrible experience. They told us it would be a 20 minute wait as the helicopter had to cool down as had just come back from a flight but after 5 minutes they said come up as there was a storm coming in and we would be the last ride. They told us a 10 minute ride but it was only 8 minutes, I guess cause we were a last minute rush to fit in before the storm. Pilot didn't speak to us and had the propellers running before we got on board and when we got off. So terrified as by father is tall and was scared he would hit his head on the propellers. They crammed my 70 year old father into the back instead of even suggesting him sit in the front where there would have been more room. His leg was jammed the whole ride and he was in excruciating pain the whole ride and was shivering from the pain and could not enjoy the views. He had to get one of the staff to unjam his leg to even get off the helicopter. This was a birthday treat from my Dad. Wish I had done something else for him as this was not worth the $110 each I paid. Went in a helicopter before in Miami and had the complete opposite experience. Would not recommend this ride to anyone if first time going in a helicopter as it would not give you the experience of the beauty of what a helicopter ride really should be. read more
