Let me begin by saying is a very nice store. My parents are always begging to go there when they come visit. The issue that I have is, I never feel like I can shop there in peace. The sales associates are always asking if you need help in a manner that suggest they want you to find your item and get the hell out. And they frequently are you suspiciously when you're shopping. I am somebody who enjoys browsing and lingering, and I will purchase items. This morning I went in to find a hair product and I was checking my phone for reviews and when I looked up, all of the associates were eyeing me suspiciously as if I was going to shoplift which is just outrageous. I promptly gathered my purchases, paid for them and left the store. If they had given me some privacy and space I probably would've bought more items and this isn't a one off experience. I always feel unwelcome in that store. read more

Very navigable store. I have never needed something this store didn't carry. A great place to get your key fob battery, they'll put it in for you too! Great painting supplies Benjamin Moore products , knowledgeable staff. Here's the best part, I only had to ask if the gallon was heavy and the young man brought it to the register for me, then the young man at the register offered to carry it out to my car. The staff is helpful, courteous and kind. You are nuts to shop anywhere else. read more

Ace Hardware is one of the best hardware stores in River Edge and Suffern to pickup things for your house. The people are nice at Ace Hardware. I usually go to Ace Hardware in River Edge but the Suffern location is close to my house. read more

This hardware store has everything. Open on Sunday, too. The lower level has a nice children's toy and game section if you have to get a last minute present and don't have the time to head to the mall. read more

Always friendly and accommodating staff. They will always walk you to an item. Not state "not my department" like a big box store usually does. The store is clean. And easily located on Franklin turnpike with its own large parking lot. The pricing is slightly higher on some items but it is much easier then other home improvement stores. Very friendly and helpful staff. Right by downtown Suffern, NY a couple blocks from NJ state line and yes unlike Bergen County stores open Sundays! This is the kinda place I walk in planning to buy one thing and walk out with several impulse purchases.. Large parking lot, easy access from Mahwah, NJ. I love going to the Ace Hardware in Suffern! The store has pretty much everything you'd need for your home, so I can do my home shopping at one location, very convenient. The staff is knowledgeable and always ready to assist. I find the pricing competitive with other places, but I would much rather shop local than go to a highway and deal with a big box type place. I have been remodeling my home for a few years now, and dislike giving my money to Home Depot. I like this hardware store but ownership cannot have every item locked up with magnets peg locks. While shopping I have to find an associate every time I find something I need to unlock the item? What a hassle!!!!!! Also while walking through the store the sales associates lunge at you at every chance, possibly to deter every decent human being from stealing. I don't believe this store is in a high crime area but ownership must think otherwise. Shopping here is not pleasant at all! Needs to change! read more

Staff is very pleasant and eager to help in any way, store is very clean and well stocked with a variety of odds and ends items you may find yourself looking for especially on a Sunday when the local big box stores are closed. Some items can be a little pricey at times but for the convenience of being right down the road I can understand that. Ordered on line to avoid going into store and have it brought out to me. Instead not only did I have to go into store and wait on line But to add insult to injury .Had to wait for someone behind the counter to go to back of the store to look for it. They then told me should have called the number on back of building ,But I pointed out the the number was blocked and could not be read. Maybe they should think about putting the number in the e-mail when confirming that you can pick up the order. Not going to do that again. read more

Went in to shop for several items, one being 10-10-10 fertilizer. I checked Ace Website to be sure that it was in stock and the website confirmed it was available at Ace in Suffern. I get there and was advised by a young male sales help that he never heard of it and didn't know what I was talking about. I advised him it is on Ace's website as "In Stock". I tried to explain what it is and he abruptly told me that "he knows what it is". He looks on his personal cell phone and finds a picture of some brand of fertilizer and asks if that's it, and I told him yes but that's not the brand on your website. He responds by abruptly informing me that Ace never had it. I decided not to argue any longer and tried to leave. He at that point calls someone and asks if they have it and is told that they do. He yells at me and says "We have it". I declined it and left. The point of my leaving this review is that , once again, after many times trying to shop here, I was treated badly. I get it, I'm older but that does not give anyone the right to disrespect me. I am a lifelong gardener, know my fertilizer, and am also a lifelong resident of the Village of Suffern. From this point on, I will travel for miles to get the items I want and to be treated with respect. I refuse to give my hard-earned money to Ace in Suffern. Courtesy training for your employees is an immediate requirement. read more

This is a great store! My wife and I went there to buy a grill for my son and his fiancée. When I walked in a sales associate asked if he could help me and we said we were looking for grills. He directed us downstairs and said he would send someone to help us with them. Another young man came by and I asked numerous questions, which he answered. He also said he assembles the grills and it would be ready for Monday, which perfectly coincided with my son's schedule. We went upstairs to pay and was told by the manager that there would be a delivery fee, which after discussion, he waived. I went on to purchase $150 more on top of that. My son was thrilled when they received the grill on Monday. I told him they had to go to this hardware store as it's huge, has everything you could need, along with regular hardware-store type items. We were blown away with the helpful staff, the quality and quantity of goods and my son went there shortly thereafter and was stunned! Wow! I just purchased a Weber gas grill from Rainbow Ace Hardware. This store is great. When you come in you are greeted and asked what you are looking for. They not only direct you to the item, but escort you right to the item. Very friendly staff. No need to go to Home Depot. Prices are very fair and selection is great. read more

Went in the back to get specs on the different models... Found the correct cover & loaded it onto my car and had a promo to give me back $100! It was less than Home Depot was selling it for.
