Our problem is (hopefully) solved. Both Josh and James were very professional and worked diligently to solve our problem, but we do think paying a total of $842.00 and three visits to our home to eliminate an odor under our sink is a way too much. The technician came out when scheduled and was very professional. The technician wore a mask, shoe coverings, and kept their work area clean. I had a Nest installed which was installed quickly. Overpriced | $1-100 If I could use zero stars I would. I called last Tues to have them come look at an unit that was installed by them in 2019. On alll the paper work I have it says 10 parts and labor I was charge $89 for someone to come take pictures of it. The tech couldn't tell me what was wrong and would have someone reach out to me the next day no one has done so. I had already had another company look at it and I know the problem. I called Ragsdale on Thrusday afternoon was promise someone would call me that day. To this day no call or email from anyone about the unit. read more

Ragsdale is no longer the trustworthy company it once was. Over the years, I have recommended many customers to Ragsdale because of its reputation for responsibility and reliability. Unfortunately, my recent experience was very disappointing. My HVAC system is only about 3-4 years old, and two days ago it stopped cooling properly during a very hot day. I called Ragsdale, and they sent a technician named Brandon Thompson to inspect the system. During the visit, Brandon focused heavily on my air filter, which is a 5-inch MERV 12 filter purchased from Home Depot. He insisted that the filter was restricting airflow and contributing to the cooling issue. He also told me that Ragsdale sells a 5-inch MERV 11 filter and attempted to sell me one. I found this frustrating because the discussion seemed more focused on selling products than diagnosing the actual problem. I was also surprised to be charged a $59.95 diagnostic fee, considering that I pay annually for a maintenance membership and my system is covered by a 10-year parts-and-labor warranty. What disappointed me most was the overall experience. In the past, I had very positive interactions with several Ragsdale technicians who were professional, knowledgeable, and focused on solving problems. This visit felt different. Instead of receiving objective technical advice, I felt like I was dealing with a salesperson. The technician repeatedly introduced additional services and products, which made me question whether technicians are being pressured to upsell customers. In previous visits, technicians had mentioned alternative air filter options, including reusable metal filters, but those conversations felt informative rather than sales-driven. This time, the sales pressure was much more aggressive. Based on this experience, I no longer feel comfortable recommending Ragsdale with the same confidence that I once did. read more

Let me save someone else the headache: Ragsdale has been to my home multiple times, but June 6th was the day the circus really started. The tech refused to perform a leak test, said it was "pointless" until we replaced our ductwork, quoted 4-6 lbs of refrigerant and a ~$900 bill... then quietly dumped 7 lbs in the system without telling us. Afterward he proudly announced he "gave us 1 lb for free" and handed us a $1,290 bill. He even called Ragsdale from my driveway to request a specific coworker to come upsell ductwork -- telling us to expect $4,000+ before they'd even consider checking for a leak. Shockingly, the system died again on July 6th. When Ragsdale came back on the 11th, that tech actually did a leak test, after Kevin had found the leak, and said the unit should never have been charged in June. He promised to call Monday, July 13th with coil replacement pricing. Monday came and went. No call. But today? They called -- not about the coil -- but to schedule ductwork. When we declined, they told us they "couldn't warranty their work" unless we replaced the ductwork. Still no coil information. Still no follow‑up. Just more upsell pressure. If you enjoy surprise charges, ignored promises, and being pushed into thousands of dollars of ductwork before they'll fix the actual problem, Ragsdale is your company. If not, look elsewhere. read more

If you are looking for a company with absolutely zero communication and terrible post-sale customer service, this is the company for you! I purchased a Carrier HVAC system from Ragsdale in mid-2025 based on my parents' long-term positive experience with them. But three things have occurred that make me regret my purchase. First, during my sales appointment, I enrolled in the twice-yearly maintenance plan and was told explicitly this included a filter change with each visit. During my first visit, I assume the filter was changed. However, on the second visit, April 17, 2026, a family member was at my house to let the technician in. During this visit, the technician said he would not install the filter without my approval, as it is an additional charge. He left without allowing the family member to call me, nor did he make the effort to call me. Does this mean my filter has never been changed? I called Ragsdale that day to state what was agreed upon at sale and that the situation was unacceptable. I was told I would receive a call from a manager about it. After waiting several days, I called back to follow up. Again, I was told I would receive a call, but didn't. Last week, I received a notification to schedule my next maintenance appointment, which I did. On this call, I told the scheduler about my disappointment with the previous visit and said I would like to speak with the service manager. She said she would have him reach out, but surprise surprise, nothing! Second, when winter came and my new furnace started to be used, I started hearing loud knocking sounds. Since the furnace is in the crawlspace and directly below my bedroom, this severely impacted my sleep. I called Ragsdale and they sent a technician out. He told me this was normal and, overtime, this would stop. It didn't! I called Ragsdale again, and again, a technician came and this time said I needed a new exhaust pipe, as the new system did not fit my existing pipe. I told him I wanted to speak to his manager, as I should not have been sold a system incompatible with my existing pipes, or a solution should have been handled at install. I received no call, even after two further attempts to reach the service manager. On 12/23/25, I received an email with an estimate to replace the exhaust pipe. Again, no call and no consideration. Third, because of Ragsdale's reputation, earned over decades through Art's leadership, and which has now been flushed down the toilet after Wrench Group purchased it, I was ok paying a premium for the service I thought I'd get. I was wrong. I would give Ragsdale an opportunity to earn my trust, but my experience needs to be a complete 180. I don't need a response on here from someone pretending to be Art asking me to call the office. Good customer service would dictate a call from a leader there. I know first-hand that the home services industry isn't easy, but customers deserve much better. Let's see if you all can rise to the occasion. - Jeff Darnell read more

Ragsdale installed my new unit. When they just came out for the annual maintenance I was told I needed to install circuit breakers at the outside units. The next day I got a call from someone wanting to set up my appt. I stated these units are brand new, sold and installed by you. If this is needed you need to let me know when you are coming to do for free since this obviously should have been done during my install of my new full units. I have not heard back. This is very scamish. I had been a long time Ragsdale customer as they installed and cared for my units at my previous home. Bad customer service! read more

We've been using Ragsdale for the past 6 years, but that is coming to an end. We had a contract with them for HVAC services in the spring and fall, and we've even used them for plumbing repair. We originally scheduled our Fall service for October, but Ragsdale canceled that due to high volume; they rescheduled for November 11th. They called earlier this morning stating a tech would be on their way - the tech never showed up. We called them back twice throughout the day and was told someone would be here. Didn't happen. We need reliable, not false promises. We'll be using another HVAC service from this point forward. read more

The staff and technicians are friendly but that's where it ends. We have the monthly membership we pay and that gives us 2 free "tune-ups" per year - one in Spring and one in Winter. However, it seems like every time the techs come out, they find something wrong that has to be fixed and it costs hundreds of dollars. Being a member, we get a discount, but their prices are so inflated, it isn't like getting a discount at all. We have been talked into the Captura System which was extremely expensive, and they did NOT tell us that you have to replace the UV bulbs every 2 years and those are VERY expensive. They want us to buy our filters from them and even with their discount, their pricing is almost 4 times what I can get the filters for online, so I always opt to buy them online instead. If we need them for something that is considered an urgent or emergency call, we get charged $59.99 instead of their normal $89.99 and they still have to work you in. It just seems like they use words that are over our heads and we have to take their word for it. I'm not saying they are dishonest, I just think they've been trained to try and sell you on more and more goods. They've told us we need to have the ducts cleaned out yet the Captura system was supposed to help you avoid that. They've told us we need a surge protector and blower wheel cleaning. We have had many things done to this system which is only 7 years old. It must have been the bottom of the line system because we've had to replace the defrost board, motor power pack, capacitor, thermostat, 5 dampers that stopped working, and we had a leak in the pan which overflowed onto our son's ceiling and we had to have the ceiling replaced and repainted. Then they installed a switch so it wouldn't overflow anymore but it was faulty and it overflowed ruining his ceiling again - this time I made them pay to have it fixed and repainted (which they did). We also had a larger line installed because the line was getting clogged and we had to have it flushed. I realized we've had it flushed every 11 months and each time it's almost $300 - I thought the larger line was supposed to eliminate that??? We also had to get a new hot water heater this year and he told us the pressure valve also had to be replaced at $500 just for that - all in all $2800 and he said it was because of the tarrifs that what was once quoted at $1500 had now almost doubled. I really don't believe that to be true. In any case, I'm seriously thinking of getting rid of our service contract and looking elsewhere. read more

I used them for plumbing only. First time I used. It took 2 trips to fix problem. The first guy didn't arrive on time. Only fixed part of the problem. When noise started up again I had to call back. Plumber didn't seem to care and said to listen out for it and call back again. I notified office and she mentioned sending someone else out in 2 hours. This was morning. Didn't arrive until around 4:30 pm. This plumber seemed more knowledgeable. Hope it's fixed. read more

2 new systems, 1 ERV, 2 Dehumidifiers, New Duct work, and Insulation replacement, scheduled to begin July 5, signed on June 14, 2023. Where do I begin. I do not have enough words. - During the sales cycle we were told the vents would be covered so insulation wouldn't fall into the home. Insulation was everywhere. Vents were NOT covered. - The installation team was unaware an ERV was to be installed. Come to find out the sales team sold something Ragsdale didn't do. We were told we'd become a "case study" of how to do it right. They didn't even have it on the truck. - The dehumidifier they ordered for the basement was too large to fit in the space. Apparently measuring is hard. So they moved ventilation to squeeze it in and turned the duct work in the basement into a huge mess. - When they blew insulation into the attic they said the duct work would be covered as it was being installed. It wasn't. Insulation ended up in the new duct work requiring a duct cleaning of new ducts. All of the above occurred on the "day" of installation, July 5th. Subsequent issues between install and August 15th: - Ragsdale acknowledges something amiss as the new units replaced 20 year old units but utility costs went up 60%. - The ERV was installed (and subsequently unplugged) because they did not install a control switch for it -- was just left on (high). Were told they'd get back to us. - The ERV was installed incorrectly and they needed to re-do it to run it through the dehu. September 17th - Called Ragsdale to get an update on the ERV switch. They still haven't responded. Utility costs still up, systems still not optimized, humidity still high. September 19th - Had received no callback from Ragsdale. The OG ERV control switch had been thrown out by the tech and they still haven't been able to source one. - We had to tell them, after reviewing the documentation, the ERV was hooked up wrong. Apparently the tech didn't read the installation manual. - Documentation also states a control switch needs to be installed. October 2nd - Still no updates. Used the "Speak with Art" feature on the website as a last-ditch effort. Never received a response. October 6th - We sent a demand letter details the above and more. October 10th - Received an email saying the letter was discussed. Nothing actionable. October 12th - Get a detailed response from them stating they'll work to get it resolved by. Incidentally, they FINALLY source the ERV part and can get it in 24 hours after our demand letter. - They'll be out to "fix" everything on October 23rd and October 24th. Installation began 3.5 months ago. They do end up making everything right. February the next year: We're warrantied so we call them with an issue on the 3rd older unit (not theirs) and they say they can fix it. February 14, get an email saying they HAVE the parts and they'll be here the 15th between 8-12 and they'll call in the morning with a better window. February 15th 9:45 AM, still no call. Call them. Was put on hold because they had to "find" the technician. Found him going to get the parts -- the parts they already had. He'd still be here by noon. We're his first stop. 11:15 - receive a notification (1.5 hours later, mind you): technician is on his way. He's an hour and 45 minutes out. --- So we fired them. They were confused saying they'd gone "above and beyond." What does their normal work look like then? We're only using them for warranty work and they said "that's fine, call us anytime." And now the air is out, almost 2 years to the date. Middle of summer. System under warranty. Called them. They said they'd be out in 3 days. 10 minutes later I get a text telling me my booking is incomplete. I'm paying my new provider to fix it as they can come tomorrow. I will then be billing Ragsdale for the work. read more

I recently requested a Ragsdale plumber to come to my home and give me an estimate to replace one outside faucet that was leaking. The plumber who came to my home quoted me $600.00. SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS. I asked him to repeat that quote and he, again, told me it would be six hundred dollars, but that would include an upgraded faucet, piping, various and sundry other supplies, and a 2-year warranty. I asked him if the faucet was made of gold. I also told him that all I wanted was a basic, (cheapest), faucet available, no piping, no warranty, and that the absolute top price that I was willing to spend would be $200-$250. He had to check with his "home office." After doing so, he said his company could not possibly come anywhere near what I was willing to spend. I told the plumber that $600.00 was out of the question and thanked him for his time. I have never left a poor review on Yelp before...never. However, this outlandish estimate for something so basic and simple has me so flabbergasted that I'm compelled to give them a terrible review. Hopefully, some inexperienced potential customers will not fall for this horrible business practice and end up spending many times more than they should. I will also be sure to let anyone/everyone I encounter know about this so that they do not consider using Ragsdale. Incidentally, since my encounter with Ragsdale, I have had the outside faucet replaced by another plumbing company...for $175.00! Ken (georgiaken9@gmail.com) read more

I purchased a new HVAC System in July of 2023. I requested a Carrier. The system was installed in a day and everything worked fine until April of 2024. The AC system would not cut on. They found a broken wire. A month later it was not coming on, they stated it has a 10 minute delay, but they worked on the system over an hour. In June, the AC is not cooling the house. The tech came out and claimed it was a dirty filter. The filter had been changed in Feb when it was serviced He had his freon cannister hooked up to the unit and claimed he did not add freon. The unit started cooling after that. The tech also stated I had a heat pump, which I specifically told the salesperson I did not want. Overall they are responsive, but a new HVAC less than a year old should have this many problems. I don't feel like they are being truthful about what is really wrong with this AC system. read more

Doing a basement remodel and needed an HVAC system. Jason came and quoted the job for us. First impressions, very polite, friendly and on time. You would think it's a no-brainer to be polite but I'm shocked how hard it can be to find genuinely nice people! Anyway, he was great. Received a quote from him by email that night. I like that we had 3 very good options to choose from based on our needs and budget. Once we made a decision, a Ragsdale team was out very quickly to install it. Installers Troy and Rodney were very responsive to our needs, specifically, trying to keep the ducting above the desired future ceiling height which was no easy task. They really took the time and put a lot of thought into the design and layout to best suit the space. After the installation was complete, Troy explained the system and it's various safety feature to me. We also signed up for the maintenance plan for the existing units. Kevin serviced those and found a problem with one of the components. He showed me the part and explained the problem. Hopefully replacing it saves us a headache down the road. Saved 15% on the part since we are on the maintenance plan. There was one miscommunication regarding the new A/C unit. To me this is where you can tell the difference between a great company and an average company. Ragsdale is a great company! The confusion was resolved quickly and without hassle indicating to me that they put their money where their mouth is when it comes to making sure the customer is satisfied! I highly recommend them. Every experience I have had with them has been terrible. I signed up for their monthly fee to get services on my two systems twice a year, seemed like a good value. But they were booked three months out so I said okay fine I can wait three months. The date comes, I never get any kind of reminder or confirmation. I expect someone to call or text me that they're on their way, no one calls. So I call them. They say we called you and left you a voicemail and you didn't respond so we canceled your appointment. Uh, no voicemails here. Okay when can you come out again? It'll be next month sometime. Omg fine. They finally came, and switched out my thermostat for $250 to one of those fancy smart ones I had bought on eBay. Thing stopped working, they came to fix it. Stopped working again, they say well we can replace it with a regular thermostat for $250. Yeah, no thank you, I did it myself. Most recent service the guy came, I went in my office with my dogs to stay out of his way while he was working. Two hours pass, I look out the window and the guy left without saying a word! Whenever I have anybody work on stuff they always communicate with me when they're finished so I can get on with my day! It has been an absolute nightmare trying to work with Ragsdale and resolve poor work done by their technicians. The last technician that came out "couldn't seem to find any issues" with the panel restoration they previously did. When I left messages for the manager following this, I never heard back. I finally had an electrical inspector look at the work Ragsdale did and he found back wiring, loose wires without electrical tape or wire nuts, fire hazards, etc. They initially claimed because I had other electrical work done, it voids my warranty. None of the work done involved the panel and was all very minor work. It was upon trying to explain this that I stopped receiving responses. I did show what additional work had been done to the inspector and he confirmed it had nothing to do with the poor job Ragsdale did. I have resumed trying to get these issues resolved and will update my review if it's taken care of. They have a great customer service team who seem like they care but it doesn't get backed up by management and there seems to be no real effort in correcting not only poor, but also potentially dangerous work that their technicians have done. read more
