The care and treatment he showed me was worth more than 5 stars. He educated me on how they got so bad, what we could do to prevent them, and the overall process of healing them. I waited awhile to write a review for Dr. Silverberg as I wanted to see how my foot healed after…read moresurgery. I got a bunionectomy on my left foot with Dr. Silverberg in February 2015. I didn't seek a second opinion, and decided to see Dr. Silverberg based upon his positive Yelp reviews. I can personally say that I was terrified to get surgery, worried that healing would be unsuccessful, but Dr. Silverberg is cool as a cucumber. He really knows what he is doing, backwards and forwards. He has an incredibly calm energy. Exactly what you would want / expect from any surgeon. He informed me about every detail of the surgery, and what to expect afterwards. He gave me his email, and graciously wrote to me when I had extra questions. The day of the procedure, he had a calm, cool presence and everything went very smoothly. A big shout out to the team he works with at the surgery center, my anesthesiologist was fantastic and put me at ease. I hesitate to share details about my recovery, because I know everyone heals differently, but I had a great experience. I was never in pain at all- and Dr. Silverberg continued to answer my emails, called me to follow up, and even texted with me at one point. Amazing! The one thing I must stress if you are considering surgery is- don't fool around with your recovery period. I listened to Dr. Silverberg and iced, elevated, wore my "boot" and didn't push myself. I think so many people have bad recovery experiences because they do not listen to their doctor!!! I've gained back great range of motion (with help from the physical therapist that Dr. S. recommended, and my foot looks and feels great.) I will eventually make another appointment to get my right foot done. Thanks, Dr. Silverberg!

A small piece of wood had…read moreembedded itself in my foot, but I waited to have it removed, thinking it would come closer to the surface of the skin. By the time I needed to see a podiatrist, it was not visible. The first podiatrist did not trust that the wood was there, and I had to revisit her twice, soaking my foot in epsom salt for nearly three weeks. This did not bring the wood closer to the surface, yet she refused to take any further steps. I finally decided to seek out a second opinion, and thankfully found Dr. Herstik. Dr. Herstik believed me and dug into the location I indicated, and ultimately found the smallest sliver of wood, which completely resolved the pain. Thank you, Dr. Herstik!

However, when I went to him for a nasal polyp, he actually ended up performing two other procedures that were completely unnecessary that he never spoke of in our THREE pre-op appointments. When I signed the consent form in the pre-op room, I thought it was just the formal name of the procedure I was having done. I didn't realize until I woke up with a splint in my nose that I had a septoplasty. Technically, it wasn't illegal because I did give consent but it was completely unnecessary procedure and I am certain now that I never had to have surgery to begin with. I will always tell people to avoid his practice, but I will say that I learned an invaluable life lesson. As a patient, you have a responsibility to be your own best advocate and part of that is understanding that you are as much a person in need as you are a customer. Thankfully, I healed properly and there were no complications from the procedure, but I will never be so trusting of a health care provider again.
