I waited awhile to write a review for Dr. Silverberg as I wanted to see how my foot healed after surgery. I got a bunionectomy on my left foot with Dr. Silverberg in February 2015. I didn't seek a second opinion, and decided to see Dr. Silverberg based upon his positive Yelp reviews. I can personally say that I was terrified to get surgery, worried that healing would be unsuccessful, but Dr. Silverberg is cool as a cucumber. He really knows what he is doing, backwards and forwards. He has an incredibly calm energy. Exactly what you would want / expect from any surgeon. He informed me about every detail of the surgery, and what to expect afterwards. He gave me his email, and graciously wrote to me when I had extra questions. The day of the procedure, he had a calm, cool presence and everything went very smoothly. A big shout out to the team he works with at the surgery center, my anesthesiologist was fantastic and put me at ease. I hesitate to share details about my recovery, because I know everyone heals differently, but I had a great experience. I was never in pain at all- and Dr. Silverberg continued to answer my emails, called me to follow up, and even texted with me at one point. Amazing! The one thing I must stress if you are considering surgery is- don't fool around with your recovery period. I listened to Dr. Silverberg and iced, elevated, wore my "boot" and didn't push myself. I think so many people have bad recovery experiences because they do not listen to their doctor!!! I've gained back great range of motion (with help from the physical therapist that Dr. S. recommended, and my foot looks and feels great.) I went in with my father who has an aversion to doctors. He had an open wound that was not healing. Dr. Silverberg was very patient and explained the treatment. My father's wound was healed within three visits. Another one developed but that's a different story. Dr. Silverberg gave us options and made himself available to answer questions. I came to see Dr. L.Silverberg to follow up with a surgery on my right foot.I saw him one more time to discuss all preps for surgery and next time it was on the day of the surgery, right before the surgery I confirmed with him what he is going to do. And I was really surprised after surgery when was told that surgery was done by some of his colleagues Dr.Sergi I never saw Dr.Sergi, never heard about him and, what is even worst, he didn't fix the painful place. As per Dr.Sergi, he was afraid to touch this bone, assumed that I am having an arthritis. I needed to do through the second surgery on the same place and am very glad that choose a different podiatrist for the second surgery. I have a very negative feeling about this two doctors: Sergi and Silverberg. They are not reliable and, please, stay away of both of them. read more

I went to see Dr Silverberg to follow up on pain that I was having from a scar one of his colleagues did and Dr Sergi was the one at the visit. Then he said let's get an MRI and we will call you back. I called back three times he never called me. I am going to another Dr. stay away from this office they don't want to clean up their messes. I'm in constant foot pain on my left foot and since this is happening now I have to have right foot pain surgery because I have was so dependent upon my right foot. Look no further if you have Morton's neuroma. For many years I had a "pinched" nerve in both my feet. I have gone through so many treatments in the past. I have tried everything from cortisone shots, to oral medicine, to holistic approach. Nothing has worked. Recently I changed my job and I been on my feet more frequently and the pain had gotten worse. I did my research and I found Dr. Silverberg. He was one out of 20 candidate in NYC I have chose to get in contact with. What caught my eye with Dr. Silverberg was his perceptiveness for detail for my problem. He had devoted a whole blog about a "pinched" nerve. (Anyone who knows the pain you go through having neuromas and someone that can explain it to you in a non-medical term is usually a hero). I read his research and I have to say I was very impressed. The first appointment I had with him was the longest. He taught me everything I needed to know about my problem and what kind of solutions there was for me. I started my Radio-Frequency treatments in February 2013. After a couple of treatments it got better but my neuroma was too big. It still bothered me. After a lot of thought we decided to go ahead with the surgery in May 2013. My surgery was only a couple of days ago. However, I feel so good and cannot wait until I will be back on my feet running 6-8 miles per day. Dr. Silverberg helped me through every step of my surgery. I'm usually not the person to write super-positive reviews as I am more of a glass half-full person, but I am compelled to write a glowing review for one reason alone: the service was superb. I had a lot of foot pain for about four months and had been misdiagnosed by another practitioner. Dr. Silverberg was able to correctly diagnose the problem and get me on a course of treatment that should have me walking pain-free -- and without the aid of a brace -- in a few months. He fit me with a brace that has allowed me to walk properly again, and soon -- hopefully -- I'll be able to return to the gym. read more

I emailed Dr. Silverberg about pain in the ball of my foot that had been bothering me for the last 6 months or so. I am an avid runner, so dealing with pain during runs was very stressful- both emotionally and physically. When the pain suddenly worsened to the point of not being able to run at all, I finally decided to seek medical help. After googling for the best foot Dr's in NYC, I found Dr. Silverberg and sent him an email explaining my situation. Not only was the pain itself a problem, but also the fact that my insurance is basically hospital-only and doesn't cover me for appointments like this. I expected a receptionist to call me back to make an appt, but within 24 hours, Dr. Silverberg called me himself to discuss what was going on. One of the first things he said was that we were going to do everything possible to avoid surgery even though other Dr.s I'd spoken with had said that was probably necessary. I liked him right away for that reason. He spent about 20 minutes on the phone with me listening to the description of my foot problems and offering me his expert opinion, making sure I completely understood what was going on and why. For a doctor to spend such a long time on a call was refreshingly unusual- especially since I wasn't even officially his patient yet. It sounded like I definitely had a metatarsal stress fracture, but he would need to Xray my foot to be sure. When I brought up the insurance coverage issue, he assured me that we would figure something out that I could handle since I'd be paying out of pocket. (which he made good on- being incredibly sympathetic to my self-employed status and lack of coverage. He gave me an extremely fair rate and allowed me to pay it in installments if need be.) I saw him the following week and the stress fracture was confirmed. Custom orthotics were ordered so that when I healed I'd be better suited to continue running without having the same problem all over again. I had to wear a (ugh) big ol' plastic boot for a few weeks while the fracture healed and today was THRILLED to find out that I was ok to go back to sneakers, long walks and could gradually return to my regular running schedule. Dr. Silverberg made this whole process as painless as possible- and his staff was courteous and professional. I have nothing but positive things to say about this practice and if I should ever need foot care again I know I will return. read more

Like another Yelp-er, I had a stubborn neuroma, and had tried everything from orthotics to alcohol shots to cryosurgery to kill the "monster" living in my foot. The beast refused to die. That was until Dr. Silverberg and his radio frequency machine. The in-office surgery was completely painless and there was virtually no "down time", short of having to take it easy for two or three days. There isn't too much more I can add to the other rave reviews. However, I will mention that for whatever reason radio-frequency surgery is not covered by my insurance, so I had to pay for it myself. And, it was worth every single penny. PS For my initial appointment/consultation I was seen by Dr. Silverberg's colleague Dr. John Lupoli, who deserves his own raves. Thanks to a previous review of Dr. Silverberg I was compelled to make an appointment to deal with the ever growing ever painful juvenile bunions I have had since, well, forever. My foot had been progressively getting worse and more painful over the past four years so I decided surgery was inevitable if I wanted to continue walking. As a young active female runner my feet are a huge deal for me and so is being able to wear high heels again! My first appointment with Doctor Silverberg was the best Doctor experience I have ever had. He was very confident in the most accessible and friendly way, so much so the first thing we talked about was my career as a Sommelier and how much he loved wine... then we discussed my feet. My one foot in particular which was very angry. He took a quick X-Ray pulled it up on his computer screen and said, "yeah that is pretty bad, you must be in a lot of pain. Let's fix that!" We made a plan of action where he discussed the intricacies of the surgery step by step and what he may and may not have to do depending on how it looks from the inside. Never did I feel like I was just another foot or another surgery. He was very personal and it was easy to trust him that he was doing what was right for my specific situation. The same goes for his surgery team. This was my first major surgery and anesthesia endeavor so I was more than a little nervous. Everyone was so pleasant and patient and calmed my nerves and made me feel like I had nothing to worry about and that I was in great hands. And, I didn't! My toe looks and feels great I am almost a year out of surgery. I am back to doing everything I once did with a little soreness and stiffness still which I will fix by getting my Physical Therapy on. I used to go running multiple times per week (and run more than 6 miles each time), however I've been unable to run for the last two plus years due to my Morton's Foot Neuroma. A month ago, I got the procedure from Dr. Silverberg, and while I still haven't gone running yet, my foot is feeling much better than before (I was even able to go skiing last weekend). I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Silverberg who operated on me in early November. I had bunion surgery and had very limited pain (did not even take Tylenol) and 5 weeks later -- as he promised -- I was back in my regular (flat) shoes. It is 4 months since the surgery, my foot looks fantastic, I have had no pain and no swelling, am back doing all my normal routines and exercise and can walk as long as I want to with no consideration to whether I will have a problem with my foot. I recommend Dr. Silverberg unequivocally, he is a great surgeon, told me exactly what to expect and a very nice guy to boot (as is his staff.). Look no further. read more

Dr. Silverberg, you definitely would recognize my name but I am not putting my last name on yelp for my own privacy. You did not tell me that the side effects could include; puncturing an artery, losing feeling forever in my feet, because of having reynauds (which you should have asked FIRST before even proposing such a procedure) my nerves can not handle severe hot and cold, so this procedure ruined my foot. It still even hurts to wear sneakers! I couldn't walk for months, it was terrible. Had I known the possible complications I would never had done this procedure. No real podiatrist would recommend this procedure. Believe me, I have asked four very reputable doctors and they all are horrified! STAY AWAY! read more

Im the real sucker because I paid the full amount. I've been to other podiatrists for Xrays, orthotics, foot braces and was never as expensive.... I also don't see why insurance would be billed $400 for a person to walk in, slip two things in their shoes and walk out. Dr. Silverberg & Dr. Lupoli changed my life. No joke. An AMAZING team. Their care and dedication really helped. I went to three different doctors before finding Dr. Silverberg and his team on Yelp. I was having horrible pain in my left foot, and it's amazing how humbling it is to experience such chronic pain, how it changes your life. I felt awful and wasn't sure if it was early onset arthritis. I am a healthy and active young adult so my pain was confusing. They were able to diagnose it right away as NOT being early onset arthritis, but instead it was a damaged joint in my large left toe that was the result of an injury from childhood. They presented all the treatment options to me and walked me through what each entailed. I'm happy to say that after a major surgery that they performed flawlessly, and recommended me to a great physical therapist, I'm pain free and so grateful and happy. I really recommend these guys. This Dr, who I don't know qualifies as a dr., as podiatrists are not md's, nor DO's, so other than fitting someone with a insert based on the mold of their feet, do not provide a service at all. An orthopedic surgeon, can accomplish 100x more, with a greater level of expertise, precision, and knowledge. This DPM was the terrible, the worst experience I have ever had. He must have gotten his degree from a cracker jack box. There was no level of understanding of my problem nor the skill level to diagnosis a proper problem, let alone a prognosis. He had no clue of what I was talking about, nor the intelligence to ask the pertinent and accurate questions to see, what my problem was and why I was in pain. I will make sure to post reviews on every site possible warning people, of this man's inept qualifications, just horrible and terrible. I cannot believe that just six weeks ago I was reading five-star testimonials written by Dr Silverberg's patients, and waiting for my own foot surgery, wishing to join those happy people. Now happily; I am the one writing here and trying to find the best words in order to express my thanks and appreciation to my dear doctor Lawrence Silverberg. Thank you Dr. Silverberg and your lovely staff. Also thanks to Gramercy Surgical Center who also got five-star testimonial from me. For those who are interested in reading patients experiences about the foot surgeries, here is my story. I had a painful bunion in my right foot, and suffered for years avoiding sports, dance and even walking. I saw many doctors over the years and always put off the surgery reasoning pain, risks, long recovery, discomfort and inconvenience. When pain started to effect the quality of my life, I started to consider options but still scared of surgery. In my case I made up my mind after the first appointment with Dr Silverberg and I wanted him to perform my surgery. First impression was different this time. He is the first and only doctor so far who came to the waiting area to greet me and follow me to the exam room. Amazingly his exam already starts there as he carefully watches and evaluates the way you walk and how you use your feet. The camera to take 3-D foot photos for orthopedics, and x-ray machines are state of the art. He answers all your questions with confidence and knowledge. You just tell he is compassionate for his patients and loves his profession. Anyway, here I am just completed my six weeks after the surgery. I cannot describe the joy of seeing the foot without the unsightly bump and feeling no pain. To my amazement, I did not have any pain at all during these six weeks and did not have even one painkiller. I had no bleeding, no swelling, no numbness and no redness. All my friends are amazed too. He has extraordinary surgical skills and knowledge. As for the recovery time, I took some time off from office work because of my long commute that includes driving, hopping on-off trains, walking in the underground subway tunnels etc. Otherwise, it would be possible to return to work even after the first week if not earlier. I found Dr. Lupoli and Dr. Silverberg right here on yelp. So glad I made that appointment! After 3 previous "specialists", 3 X-rays and one MRI, my swollen to remained undiagnosed. Sounds silly, but for an entire year, I became increasingly depressed as I struggled to wear any shoe without pain. Walking was stressful and forget about anymore hiking for me. Dr. Lupoli and Dr. Silverberg took the time to look carefully at the X-rays I brought with me and they took their own as well on the day of my visit. They were able to treat me that very day! Within 3 days I was 100% better! I KID YOU NOT!! Two weeks later I was literally dancing into their office for my follow-up appointment!! He and Dr. Sergi are the bomb! I had two neuromas, same foot. (it was thought that I had only one, they found the second one, they were thorough. Sent me to an MRI office that specializes in sports type injuries and in finding these things) nothing helped. Not orthotics not shots, nothing! I used to love to walk and now every time I had to stand up I braced myself for pain. I was scared to death of surgery. Both doctors talked me through everything, as I sat there and cried. Went for the radiofrequency ablation treatments. I would say I'm 100% better on the one neuroma and 90% better on the other space. Back to Yoga, back to walking, back to my life. Thank Gd I found them! in other States, let alone other countries, these options are not necessarily available. Even in NYC many doctors go right to surgery. Thank Gd, Thank Gd. I agree with the others that Dr. Silverberg takes his time with patients. I have dealt with plantar fasciitis for close to a decade now. I have seen multiple podiatrists to try to solve the issue. Like all of them, he recommended a new pair of orthotics. Amazing how no one pair of orthotics from any podiatrist seem to be the same. Actually the pair he gave me were measure by some electronic devise rather than a cast. Truthfully while I thought this was great idea, my new orthotics definitely fit my foot when not moving, but when I place in my shoe and stand, my foot actually hangs over it. In addition, after a few weeks I started having heel pain in my good foot. I stopped wearing the orthotic, and my non problem foot is feeling normal again. Finally, his office can't seem to get my billing correct. I paid in full and have my canceled check, but his billing team just sent me a final notice on the amount I paid. Overall while a nice guy and takes his time with you, I am one of the few who found the whole process average at best. read more

Went to Dr. Silverberg last April. Had a neuroma for the last three years. It got worse and worse. I felt like I had a sliver of glass in my foot and at night the tingling in toes 2/3 was unbearable. There were days when I would have to skip work because of it. Drs. Silverberg and Sergi discussed all my options. Had the radiofrequency ablation treatment. No pain during and even in my recovery days was feeling so much better! The team Drs. Silverberg and Sergi were amazing and very patient with my nervousness. They were conservative didn't rush me into any treatment which I appreciated! You never feel like they're just there to make money from the procedures, they really go for the most conservative approach. Still have some pain from what seems to be a neuroma on the 3/4 toes but they're holding off until I heal more from the other procedure. Pain is nothing compared to what I had and the space between the 2/3 feels pretty darn great! Neuroma in t hat space is a scary thing to have. With a trapped nerve in that small space, it's tough. You hear lots of scary things from people who have not had the care I have had.. I am so grateful to have this team here. Thank Gd for them! read more

Dr. Silverberg is one of the best doctors I've been too - for anything. I had two bunion surgeries -both were very successful. Very little pain, no scarring - I'm very happy with the outcome on both feet. In addition, Dr. Silverberg really cares about his patients. The second surgery I had happened the day before Hurricane Sandy. My follow up visit immediately following the surgery was supposed to happen when the city was shut down. Dr. Silverberg found me on email (no cel phones were working!) and even tho he had no electricity - he met me in his office to make sure everything was healing properly. I really feel he cares so much about his patients. And as everyone has written - the fact that he works hard to stay on schedule with his appointments really means alot - it shows he respects our time. On a personal level, Dr. Silverberg is very personable - a nice friendly guy. I highly highly recommend him! read more

Apologies for the delay everyone. I believe I should add in addition that they also violating HIPAA based on their post. At the time, I paid for my procedure, I was not informed of any balance payment. They also tried to accuse me of a "no show" mysteriously out of the blue after writing this review which never happened. Clearly, they are unethical because they accepted my $600 towards this treatment and kept it. (I am sure it sounds bizarre to you as it did to me. I owe $100, I just paid you $600, wouldn't you ask me for $700 at the time?) I offered to use the remaining balance of the unused treatment towards any balance since they harassed me about a payment after the fact and refused to set up my remaining two appointments... but they wanted to fraudulently change what the $600 was being used for - 1 session and 2 curtesy?!?! Needless to say, they got $400 to use towards the $100. BY THE WAY THE ONE TREATMENT NEVER WORKED! 21 "useful" messages is worth it in the end to save other people money and to find a more ethical practice. read more
