I was scheduled for an appointment and arrived 15 minutes early to a very hot, crowded, small waiting room. The only available chair was blocked by someone in a wheelchair. I asked the receptionist how long a wait there would be (as I had a painful foot issue) and after checking she said about 45 minutes. I couldn't imagine standing in a hot waiting room for that amount of time. The very nice gentleman in the wheelchair offered to try to maneuver his wheelchair so I could get to the blocked seat. Anyhow, when I decided to leave I was asked if I wanted to reschedule??? What? I was scheduled. Don't schedule so many appointments near the same time to try to avoid this issue. At least offer me some room to sit in instead of having me stand for a long amount of time. I did like the doctor, but it is not worth it if I have to stand in a hot room for with an aching foot/ankle. read more

Loved my visit to Dr. Isaacson's office! Located at a pretty convenient spot near the 6 train. I'm always super nervous when I see a doctor in the US, since there are just way too many things that could go wrong (especially insurance issues...The last time I visited another podiatrist, the receptionist tried to charge me over $250 for a quick consult!), but this was a great visit! The receptionist was SUPER friendly and nice (though I think the office manager was out sick that day...so not sure who was there, but it was the same person that took my blood), and I got to see the doctor within 20 minutes of being there. Dr. Isaacson makes you feel really comfortable and makes sure that all of your concerns are addressed. He also keeps the conversation light, so you kind of forget about being nervous :) When they took my blood, it was also super fast and painless, even though I don't have the easiest veins haha (props to the nurse!). There was no fuss about how much my copay was, which was a relief! Glad they took the time to really check out my insurance and make sure everything was OK. read more

Visited the doctor more than a year ago. Experience was fine. I went to have a cyst drained. The doctor proceeded to tell me I'd benefit from custom orthotics. My response was no thanks, they haven't been useful. To which he replied just get them, they are fully covered by insurance. A year and a half later they bill me for a item I've never used, and have been unwilling to rectify on their side. Shame on me for listening. My daughter's been walking on her tippy toe since she began walking and it's been quite a concern for us as she continues to grow. Nice doctor. Not the friendliest front desk staff, they gave me attitude when they showed up late to work and I'm waiting outside the office. (People have to go to work to you know!) The deal breaker is the orthodics that I never got four months and hundreds of dollars after I initially came in for my first appointment and molding. I had to trek over on five separate occasions to only be disappointed that the orthodics were incorrect (too short, too narrow, no built-in arch, etc. etc.). It was an issue with their orthodics lab, but at the end of the day they are part of the team and I was very let down. 4 months after my initial visit I just cancelled the orthodics, went to a new doctor (and paid for a whole new visit to achieve the same thing) all to finally get new and correct orthodics. Such a painful experience and not nice front-desk staff just rubs the salt in further. read more

Apparently very popular, a number of patients filled the waiting room in the hopes of seeing Dr. Isaacson. And as he flitted from patient to waiting room to staff member and back, he was all the while personable and welcoming to his patients. Dr. Isaacson has a very collegial relationship with his staff and fellow doctors---something not always present in doctors' offices or in businesses, for that matter. When I finally met with Dr. Isaacson, he took time to get to know me, already aware of my symptoms and quickly responding to my fears: "You're gonna give me injections and then cut me open." "Pretty much," he said with a smirk. He then went through my options, but advised me what would be best. Sensitive to the fact that I am a very big cry baby (I pass out when they draw blood...and he told me I could pass out if I wanted to! LOL!), he walked me through the steps he would take and then was so kind as to put up a shield so I wouldn't be able to see what he was doing. Can you say "wonderful"? He then told me how to care for the area and instructed me to call him if I felt the need. If you ever are in need of a podiatrist, do yourself a favor and go see Dr. Isaacson. Forget other podiatrists - I've seen several - just go to Dr. Isaacson. I had ingrown toe nails on both feet. The pain was so intense I could barely walk. Dr. Isaacson took care of it in one session, and now, 9 years later, my toenails are still straight and perfect. No pain whatsoever. I came back to him for orthotics and a foot injury later, and he took care of everything right away. Additionally he is a very kind individual with excellent bed side manners. I have to say, i was pretty skeptical walking into the office for the consultation but after spending some time and speaking with the doctor and staff i felt amazingly comfortable. The office is immaculately clean and all the staff where so professional. Front desk was more then accommodating and very professional. I have been battling a reoccurring corn on my small toe for years now, getting it scrapped off and then with in weeks it comes back...that's when I decided I needed to see another podiatrist. I found Dr. Isaacson on yelp and he explained that this will continue to happen as an old fracture caused my bone to be out of whack and as long as that bone wasn't corrected then the corn would continue to come back. He suggested cutting off a small piece of bone, which we did about a week ago. I'm so glad I did this, I can finally play ball, run with my kids, workout or do whatever (and hopefully the corn will never return)....once the rest of the swelling goes down of course. This doctor is far from greedy and gives you his utmost honest opinion. I found him online and traveled from Maryland to have my bunions and several hammer toes repaired. I had my right foot done, and my left foot two weeks later. Dr. Isaacson and his staff with extra cream really professional. I travel because I wanted my incision on the side and could not find a doctor in my area who would do this. I asked scission is minimal scarring and healing went great with me by sending me to a doctor in my own area since I did not want to travel for the second follow-up. I asked my doctor for a recommendation for a podiatrist, and she emailed me Dr. Isaacson's information. Since then, I've seen him regularly to treat on ongoing issue, and I couldn't be happier. Dr. Isaacson is very friendly and easy to chat with. His treatments are thorough and he will offer different treatments, as necessary. The office staff is incredibly friendly, which is sometimes unusual in a doctor's office. The wait to see the doctor is usually very short, when there is one at all, but I tend to take the first appointment of the day. The one problem I've ever had is what seems to be a problem with the office's calendars syncinc with ZocDoc's calendars. Occasionally the office has had to reschedule my appointment because there isn't an opening at the time that ZocDoc said that there was. Not a major problem, but just something to keep in mind if you use ZocDoc to make appointments. Scheduling directly with the office is easy to do, if you're able to. All in all, if you're looking for a great midtown podiatrist, I'd definitely suggest Dr. Isaacson! read more

I had a gradually increasing pain in the arch of my foot that reached the point where I was almost unable to walk. I did some research on ZocDoc and Yelp for podiatrists and Dr. Isaacson's many 5 start ratings were the first indication this was a doctor making a positive impression on patients. Something I always try to look for. From the moment I arrived at this practice, the staff was welcoming and polite - a pleasant break from the "business only" I've become accustomed to at some other medical practices. The doctor took plenty of time to examine me and, using an ultrasound to look inside my foot, showed me exactly where the problem was: I had ruptured my plantar fascia, apparently a pretty common injury. The treatment was a cortisone injection that was quite painless. The best way to describe it? It was less painful than getting a novacaine injection at the dentist. Much less. And now, only 24 hours later, the pain is abating. I expect that the pain will be gone by tomorrow and I'll be able to return to work. Overall, I'm very pleased with Dr. Isaacson's treatment (and his office staff) and grateful for his kind approach. Doctors like this are the rarity these days. Especially in NYC. read more

Broke a bone in my right foot and went in for eval. Office is on the small side and a bit tight if you're coming in on crutches but the staff was AMAZING - really great, friendly, and helpful. Had moderate to severe bunion removed surgically by Dr. Isaacson 10 days ago. He is unbelievable. I am walking without any assistance. I had absolutely 0 pain. Foot felt like it was asleep for the first 2 days (nerve block I assume) and on third day I woke up without any sensation of foot being asleep and without an ounce of pain. I found Dr. Isaacson based upon these reviews so I feel I must add to his excellent reputation. I'm incredibly pleased with Dr. Isaacson and his staff. A few weeks back I dropped a metal bracket on my foot that resulted in 5 big stitches (I'll spare the gory pictures). After my ER trip, I learned that the attending podiatrist at Methodist Hospital wouldn't take my insurance for the follow up, so I started to look elsewhere. I chose Dr. I based on his proximity to my office and his good yelp reviews, and he definitely fit the description. He helped me work through my insurance (no small task unfortunately!!), took out my stitches, and gave me great running advice to get back on track with my marathon training. Dr. Isaacson is a great doctor I travel all the way in from Long Island to see him. I have been to Podiatrists near me but none provide the care needed for my Mortons Neuroma, Achilles Tendinitis and Heel Spurs. After 5 years of off and on treatment I have elected to have the heel spur on my right foot removed and after getting two seperate opinions,I chose Dr. Isaacson due to his expertise and the amount of surgical procedures he has performed with positive results. I have been dealing with a recurring ingrown toenail for the past year or so. I was seeing another podiatrist who told me there was no way to fix it once and for all.
