We tried Rafferty's at 7pm on a Sunday evening and there was no wait for our table. They have nice outdoor patio seating, a bar, and a dining room. The decor reminded us of a cabin from the 90s. The menu had American favorites. Our server, Cidney was amazing! Our drinks were full the entire meal. We ordered the breaded mushrooms with a cup of ranch added on. They came out fast. They were super crispy, tasty, and hot. Both the horseradish/mustard sauce and ranch were great! Both of us decided to order the catch of the day, which was mahi mahi. It wasn't necessarily blackened but it had an amazing grilled flavor. Our sides were the house salad with ranch and a loaded baked potato. The house salad was a generous size and tasted excellent. We shared a perfectly cooked ribeye and each had a baked potato that was hot and soft. I had a house salad with honey mustard. We got there before 5:30 on a Saturday and walked right in and were seated immediately. When we walked out the restaurant was full with a wait so great timing. I came here for a recent work trip at the suggestion of a co-worker. The outside of the building was well-light, while the inside was reminiscent of an Applebee's. There was an order of Fried Mushrooms on the table when I arrived, and they were nice and crisp and were served with a horseradish sauce for dipping. I usually like to drink beer, but the selection of taps was very limited so I didn't order one. The service was quick and friendly, which was amplified by super quick delivery of the meal. Ate here with coworkers this week. We split the cheese fries-very good. They had actual cheese melted instead of cheese sauce which I prefer, and the ranch that comes with it is to die for. It is a large portion, a great appetizer to share. I got the chef salad for my meal with the hot bacon honey mustard house dressing. We frequently travel through Indiana for business or while visiting family in Illinois. We always make a point to eat at Rafferty's whenever we're in town! It always consistently great - the service, the food, and the management. We've dined outside in the summer and it was relaxing on a beautiful night. We've also eaten inside and the restaurant is super cozy, clean, and features TV's on the walls for watching sports, etc. All the servers we've had have been very professional and knowledgeable of the menu. The managers frequently walk around the restaurant, asking customers if everything is okay. The food is incredible! We've had the steaks and the ribs - both perfectly cooked and delicious! All entrees come with a salad (best salad!) and a buttered croissant. I wish we had a Rafferty's here in Texas because it's sooooo good! Can't wait to go back! read more

My husband and I stopped in for lunch. The server was very kind, accommodating, and knowledgeable. We ordered the fried mushrooms as an appetizer and OMGSH! Not only were they some of the best fried mushrooms I've had, they would have been fine as my meal! Huge, deliciously battered, and the horseradish-mustard sauce was delicious, even though they are wonderful by themselves. I ordered the blackened salmon (cooked medium), Caesar salad, and green beans. Hubby ordered a full rack of ribs and a loaded baked potato. First picture of my salmon wasn't even blackened and it was cooked to a well-done dry!!! I sent it back (can't go to Rafferty's without getting your food re-fired. It's a constant.) However, the manager was very quick to resolve the problem. When I received it again, it was delightfully blackened and juicy, but the middle was raw! I just took it home and cooked it myself lol. The green beans were ok and the caeser salad was very good. Now, my husband's order... He refuses to send food back if he doesn't like it. He's not at all like me! LOL. His ribs were dry, no smoke flavor, and just doused in bbq sauce! He said it's as if they used 2 day old ribs and just sauced them to death to hide the dry & chewy meat. My husband has 2 smokers and loves to smoke/grill meats, so I know he wasn't kidding. I doubt we'll be back anytime soon, but if you go & you love fried mushrooms, look no further! read more

The spinach salad was good, would not recommend the bacon dressing as it was thick and not appealing. We also had the pork chops which were very good. Wait staff was great. The restaurant is very nice with the exception of the dust hanging from the rafters above every table. Looks like dust may drop at any minute onto the table. We ate Sunday lunch while in Evansville. Got right in and the server was great throughout the meal. Gave his advice on dishes and kept our drinks full. We started out with the nachos appetizer that was good. Hot chips loaded with beans, cheese, lettuce, jalapeños, and sour cream. I ended eating this as my entree. My mom got the chicken fingers with garlic mashed potatoes, and my sister the club sandwich. She said it was very good with crisp bacon just the way she liked it. I'll admit it; I was in the mood for a burger and a beer. Rafferty's delivered and the service and food quality were top notch. I walked in at about 8pm and seated myself in the bar. It was filled with several groups of sports fans watching a football game, but I found an empty table. I ordered a burger glazed with BBQ and served with bacon and cheese and it was served exactly to my medium specification. I also ordered a side of fried mushrooms that were delivered with a wonderful horseradish dressing and they were absolutely out of this world good. Finally, I had the beer special and it was served in an enticingly cold frosted mug. I left sated and happy because the good, basic food was perfectly prepared and the wait staff took great care of me without hovering or being overly present. When a restaurant's house dressing is a cup of honey mustard along with a cup of hot bacon dressing, you know you're in for something special. Well, that's what I thought at least. While our service was good, the food was nothing of note. I got the Kona chicken, which was a piece of grilled chicken, ham, swiss, and pineapple. It was all right, but nothing spectacular. My co-workers were equally meh about their meals, especially the steaks some of them had. The server hung over the table requested me to remove my mask so he could talk to me came to the table multiple times and hovered over the table to have or attempt to have conversations very disappointing the particular server continues to wear the same mask I asked if him if ever changed mask out he said no he like this one. We waited at our table for 30 min. Never once did the waiting staff speak to us. We eventually got up and left. We were disappointed.

Here for the first time in a few years. Food was very good. Our server was attentive and friendly. We were among the first customers when the doors opened on Sunday. I would suggest that the manager have an employee take five minutes and go into the parking lot to pick up the trash left over from the night before. It's a poor impression to walk through debris on the way to the front door. The other factor that detracts one star is the attitude of the half asleep hostess. She would rather have been in bed obviously and barely mumbled a greeting. My wife got a frisco salad which was quite good except they forgot her artichoke hearts. Out server remedies that fine. My cheeseburger was quite tasty. I will come back. But management needs to hold a pep rally with some of the staff. read more

Five stars for the food and one star for the service. Ok, maybe 1.5. It had been 10 years since I had eaten here and the one thing I remembered before about it was they have good burgers but poor service. Some things never change. When we entered the restaurant the teenybopper hostess seemed totally confused when we asked if we could sit at a booth which we actually pointed out to her, rather than a table. It was like we asked her a tremendously difficult math question and she just stuttered and stammered and we walked over to the booth. We pointed at it and again asked, "is it OK if we sit here?" I guess the answer was yes because she put the menus down and we sat down. The rest of the staff was friendly enough but when you have to ask for refills three times and then wait 15 minutes to get them? That's poor service. And it's a burger place and they don't bring out catchup up even when you ask for it while ordering the meal and then twice more? My wife could see the food prep area behind me and she reported that there were six people just standing around, including three of the people whom we asked for more drinks and also catchup. What is up with this? One server explained that they have a "team effort" when it comes to helping out the customers. What I think happens is that among servers someone thinks that someone else is going to handle the customer's request and then nobody does. The manager was walking around with a goofy look on his face. I did not see him ask anybody anything about their meals. He was, however, watching some of the TVs as he walked by. read more

A group of 12 of us descended on Rafferty's in Evansville, IN late last Thursday afternoon for an early dinner. This was my first visit to the restaurant in quite some time. We never called ahead to check seating arrangements for our 12, but the staff, in a matter of minutes, quickly assembled a group of tables for us, complete with 12 place-settings. I opted for the 'Jackson Hole Fillet' (a 12-oz. fillet which I ordered medium well). The steak comes with a salad and one side, and I opted for the baked potato. It is a pleasure to report that the steak was perfect in all respects, including flavor, manner of grilling, and it cut like a dream! The salad and baked potato were likewise perfect. My overall experience here was superb, and I left feeling fulfilled in all respects. The wait staff was friendly, attentive, and efficient. This visit stood out for me, because the quality of restaurant steaks in this area has been declining for the past few years. It had been quite some time since I had enjoyed a decent restaurant steak. It is truly gratifying to find a restaurant that hasn't compromised quality in the age of Covid. This jewel on Green River Rd. will become my go-to for week-end dining, especially for steaks. read more

I was dissapointed in Rafferty's today. I ordered the orange/bourbon glazed salmon and a sweet potato. The potato was great, but the salmon was overcooked and the flavor though it was there, was nothing I couldn't prepare myself at home. My husband ordered the Kona chicken and potato soup. He said the soup tasted like gravy and the chicken was just "good." I tasted it, and again it was something I could make myself at home. UPDATE: I now have food poisoning.. Both times that I have eaten at this Rafferty's, the service has been excellent. Rafferty's traditionally has a delicious house salad with a honey-topped croissant on the side and they are known for their homemade potato soup. My most recent visit, I ordered prime rib and it was one of the best I've had anywhere in months. This is perhaps my favorite casual dining restaurant in Evansville. It could use some slight updating of its decor, in which case I would score it five stars. read more
