Just had the birria grilled cheese and it was delicious. We will be back! Customer service was awesome. The owner is a very kind gentleman. Looking forward to trying other things on the menu. Good to know they are on DoorDash as well!

Ok, this truck was around the corner from the movie theaters- Regal. I said "why not have some tacos before the movies." I got the quesabirria plate and I thought they were good. The tortilla wasn't covered in oil and it had a good ratio of the cheese and meat. I added cilantro and onion to them, but it wasn't complete without the consume. Messy to eat, do make sure to have plenty of napkins. I was left satisfied with fingers of birria smell lol My bf's super burrito, in his words, was ok. He wasn't a big fan of the chile chipotle they used. I personally didn't like the salsa that came with my plate. Luckily it was on the side but overall, the quesabirria tacos weren't a disappointment.

I'll keep looking. It's good, not great or as some have said "It's the best taco truck in Medesto "...nope. Service was okay, I asked the young lady how much more it would cost for a forth quezabirria taco to be added to the 3 that came with the plate which cost $11.50 or so. $5.00 for the forth taco, maybe...no. The 3 tacos I did eat were okay, not necessarily worth the extra three miles I drove out of my way to get them. My wife's shrimp burrito was a mess. Goopy rice with 4 medium sized shrimp stuffed perfectly in a huge tortilla, I didn't score any points there! They did have a small shade canopy with two tables for getting out of the sun. Nice. The truck itself was clean enough as was the lot it sat on. Overall, it's just okay. Wouldn't go out of my way again to revisit just okay. Last words...still looking for that one truck!

Burrito was terrible!! No flavor bad choice of rice, meat was all on 1 side of the burrito. Took me 4 bites just to taste anything

I had a young lady recommended this food truck to me. I ordered a chicken burrito, and it had good flavor. They gave me three different types of salsa and some chips. The owner was very chill and easy to talk to, and was very friendly.

Every other Thursday , I have an appointment that precludes me from making breakfast at home . So I usually order from the Community Hospice cafe, good food reasonable prices , I order on line and send one of my people to pick it up, put this particular morning, I missed the order deadline for breakfast. So I need to run an errand and I thought breakfast burrito! Late enough it was kind of like a brunch meal .. so I stopped into Taco house, in the WalMart plaza on McHenry .. no one greeted me , no one at counter, could hear people in back , but no one responded to my hello so I left , thought now what .. there at the end of the driveway I saw the Orange trailer and the doors were up , so I stopped at Rafa's Taco. Ordered Chorizo breakfast burrito. I was very happy with the burrito, great flavor , displayed some knife skills with that chop on the filling , noticed another review used word minced , for this particular dish that is best part , sure it probably saves the owner some $ on ingredients, but it was nice to have the chorizo evenly cooked and dispersed in the filling .. got a bag of garnish on side , lime, carrot, radish and two small containers of a green salsa. The salsa lacked a little heat but was ok overall Really enjoyed the food and will return to try other items. Thanks Rafa

I ordered a "lengua" taco and it was not lengua. It was undercooked meat & was old.

Esteban C.

BEWARE: Food is undercooked & you can get sick. I used to get tacos from this food truck on McHenry but after ordering lengua and tripa tacos I will never go here again and don't recommend anyone else to. The food was undercooked and the quality and service has only gotten worse. I don't know if the owners hired new cooks that don't know how to cook the food but I was very disappointed with the food and they will not get my business anymore. Such a shame for a food truck that has so much potential.

First time and not my last, been looking for a good taco truck near me and I have found it. Everything was on point

It's one thing to experience the first experience that highlighted and gave you mind blowing reaction that made you want to come back. However, then you start coming back and you find the inconsistencies so you mention it and they listen and then months later after you eat their weekly, it just doesn't cut it! Told the owner that I appreciate the flavor however, guacamole, sour cream they add to it as part of the super burrito should be consistent and when I order burrito after a burrito etc. etc. and it's dry and bland that's not a super burrito and he don't care and I don't care anymore, I'm annoyed because I spoke up And they agreed only to appease me verbally. Try your luck lol. read more

I have been to taco trucks from Sacramento to Mexico City. Rafa's Tacos is by miles the best I have ever had. Rafa's goes toe to toe with established restaurants and kills them too. I am shooting myself in the foot by revealing this gem on Santa Fe Avenue, but try them out. You WILL be rewarding yourself! My favorites are Quesabirrias & Birriaroles. P.S. The guy who runs the show is super cool and has the best attitude. read more

I was pleasantly surprised when I found Rafa's on Door dash, and when I found out they were so close to my home, was even more exciting! This place will not let you down! Everything I have tried on their menu is AMAZING! The birria tacos are my favorite, so much flavor and the consome, is to die for! I've had the mulitas, never had them before but i loved them! The carne asada burritos, the tacos all have been great! The birria plate is also so yummy and full of flavor. Bottom line, this place rocks!! Definitely one of my favorite food trucks! read more

We got a supreme burrito asada, asada fries, a chicken quesadilla and 3 carnitas birria tacos. Everything was super good and fresh. It was 40$ for everything which is really reasonable. The only thing We didn't like was their salsa, everything else was fire. I'll be back for sure. read more

Thursday, April 20, 2023- Apx 18:30 PM. I was looking for a new taco truck, not really thinking too much of it. I have to admit, I was taken by surprise by the taste coming from Rafa's Taco Truck's grill. My nephew and I selected the carne asada burrito supreme. The meat was a little crispy, but the beans were tender and full of flavor. The burrito had a mild heat that played eloquently with the Spanish rice. The cold ingredients were just the right temp, and the ambiance was quiet and clean. I looked over the eating area and only found one lost fork and the area was clear of all other debris. Additionally, the truck welcomed the small family behind me. The service was friendly and the wait time was minimal. Excited to reduce the commute for a tasteful adventure. ~ ChrispB Taco read more

One of my buddies ordered some food for couple of us brought us some birria tacos and were they amazing!!! He added cheese to them and they came with the consomé to dip them into it. They also give you an oil based hot sauce which compliments the tacos very well. We also tried a sope and it was tasty as well, you can tell everything was fresh. Not sure why this place is 4.5 stars I ordered carne asada tacos, a tripa taco and rice and beans. The Carne asada had no flavor and the red salsa put on the tacos had little flavor and heat. The tripas also tasted plain but at least were crunchy. The tacos did come with grilled onions and a Chile which helped with flavor and heat a bit. Rice and beans tasted plain as well nothing special. Probably wouldn't come back read more

Rafa isn't just making tacos, he's making art. The pineapple in the al pastor was a pleasant surprise reminiscent of the pineapple topping the traditional trompo. The asada had a great char that leaves you craving more. The camarones were super fresh complimented well by a light citrus zing and a dash of onion and cilantro. Don't even get me started on the Birria Taco. Slightly crunchy, rich braised beef, explosively flavorful consume. Drop the mic Rafa. Drop the mic and walk away because your killing it bro. I asked if the burritos were super and the guy in the truck, I'm assuming the owner assured me they were. I asked what was in the super and he said protein , rice, beans , & sour cream. That's it . No cheese , no guacamole. So basically you're paying $.50 more to have a sour cream in your burrito. I just added cheese at home. The burritos were great flavor especially the pastor. But the value was not there. I could go somewhere else and pay the same price and get a much bigger burrito that has cheese & guacamole or avocado in it. Next time I will stick with the Tacos . The tacos are absolutely delicious.

The carne asada was flavorful, tender, and cooked just right--classic, no shortcuts. Onions and cilantro were fresh, the salsas had real heat and balance, and the tortillas held everything together perfectly. The shrimp tacos were a great contrast--lighter, well-seasoned, and done with care. Nothing greasy, nothing rushed. Just solid food made by people who clearly know what they're doing. What I really appreciate about S.J. Taqueria is the consistency. This is the kind of taco truck you come back to because you know you're going to get quality, every time.
