I had Alec's Machine Shop disassemble a pair of vintage 1976 Harley Davidson Shovelheads from my original numbers matching Police Special FLH. While inspecting the heads, minus the valves, springs, and valve guides, I noticed the guide "boss" hole on the rear head, looked "beat-up." Upon closer inspection and measurements, it was blatantly evident the "engine builder" neglected to remove the heavy carbon deposits from the portion of the valve guide behind the valve. He hit the front head exhaust guide with such violence while trying to remove it from the head, that it broke a third of the guide right off, and then actually managed to drive the rear head guide (with all the heavy carbon deposits still attached), through the aluminum guide hole boss, tearing up the hole and rendering the damage beyond viable repair. My initial phone call to Alberto (company phone-answerer), to tell him of the damage I had found, was met with instant incredulity, and doubtful accountability. I took both heads in to have the owner's of the establishment scrutinize the findings; again, met with instant proclamations of prior damage, to minimize, if not eliminate, any compensation. All 4 guides (iron), measured .565", (including the guide that came from the now torn up guide hole, measuring up to .593"), and 3 guide holes measured the same (.565"). The damaged exhaust guide hole measured between .570", erratically up to .593". The hole was now "egg-shaped" and off center. The repair would cost a minimum of $850.00 before tax, and could only be performed by an extremely experienced machinist with the right tools, of which this shop was NOT qualified to perform. When all was said and done, no compensation was given, and they basically accused me of attempting to "scam" them, as they claimed that the broken head "may not even be the head they disassembled." After having my 35 years of vintage Harley experience minimized to novice proportions, I couldn't take the inability of these people account for their incompetence. I left feeling completely defeated, never to return.

Their super knowledgeable, friendly staff, are more than happy to hold your hand through your whole build. They have done a few of my engines flawlessly. Turns out we needed an alternator and it was 3:30pm when we arrived (they close at 5pm) We were extremely grateful they drove to parts store to pick up new alternator and installed it, we were gone by 5pm. If they wouldn't have gone out of their way for us, we would have have to stay in a hotel for another 2 nights, miss work and and school Monday to get our truck looked. Be cautious when dealing with this individual, he is misleading and not the technical nor professional that he claims he is. Very disappointed in in the work and his unethical practices. Terrible experience and calling names to his customer really goes a long way in the promotion of a business. I could have bought a brand new trailer for the amount he charged.

When I emailed Tech Trailer, the response was simple, "we can do it!" I met with Dan, the owner and was immediately impressed by his passion and attention to detail. Brought my car into Raj after being recommended him by another mechanic I know…read more I was smelling smoke in my car and Raj said it was probably the flex joint when I dropped it in. Apart from the smell the car was driving perfectly. He quoted me 400-500 to fix it and said I would have the car back in a day. The next day I called Raj to ask for a pick up time. He said he was really busy and my car was still sitting in the yard but he would have it done by EOD. I called him later that day, he said the car was still sitting in the yard and he wouldnt get to it until the next day. At this point I was annoyed but he said it would be done by noon the next day so I said OK. The next day before noon I rang to make sure the car was ready. Again Raj said he was busy and hadnt gotten to it. I needed the car so was very frustrated. He said it would be done by 5pm. He called me at 4:50pm saying the car was ready and to come out. When I got to the shop it appeared my car was still being worked on. Raj had pulled out the filters of my car and the sparkplugs. He said it all needed to be repaired and I needed an oil change. I was shocked as I hadnt given him permission to pull anything from my car. He said he would have to replace the sparkplugs and do an oil change. Also the original work was now more expensive than he thought and overall the work would be 1200 dollars. So 800 more than originally quoted and 2 days late. It took him 2 more hours to finish the work and then I finally got the car back. I am a first time car owner and I am sure Raj was just trying to take advantage of me. I have no experience with mechanics but I know this is not normal even in general customer service. It was all a show he was saying how bad my filters were, how the spark plugs needed replacing and oil was leaking into them. I will attached photos so everyone can see how ridiculous his claims were. Would not recommend ever and would really advise everyone to avoid this place at all costs.

Went to G I B for an out-of-province inspection. Inspection was ok but when I got the car back I…read morenoticed the steering wheel was no longer on centre (3:00/9:00). I had just driven the car 12 hours back from east of Calgary so I knew for sure that the wheel had been on centre. Took the car back in, they charged me for an alignment, didn't give me an alignment print-out and the car felt absolutely no different except now the steering wheel was off in the opposite direction. Then they argued with me a bit that the tech had tested the car and it was right on centre. I went back in, took the tech for a ride and he then agreed it was slightly off centre. They did then fix it properly. Nice guys, polite, etc. However, I had to ask for the alignment print-out which I then received on a follow-up visit - first time in my life that I had an alignment done and the tech didn't show me the paperwork and go over it with me right away. At this point, I don't even know if an alignment was ever actually done on my car. The print-out I received doesn't even show a VIN number. Lesson learned.
