Stayed here for a friends wedding over the weekend (why the heck else would I ever end up in Duluth, Minnesota?!?). Anyway, I was doing some kind of best rate guarantee because I wanted to make sure I had two queen beds (3 ppl in one room) instead of two doubles, but still get my Friday night free special. I must have called Radisson corporate and the local hotel like 10 times to make sure my room was reserved for two queens. And still when we checked in and got up to our room, they screwed up. Two doubles. Which was comfy for my friend, but for a not tiny person like myself and my fiancee to share a double bed. Not the most comfortable. Not to mention the sleep number airbed is like a glorified air mattress and was not that comfortable at least for two people on the double bed version with no split air chamber. Aside from that, our room rate was incredibly cheap. The hallways and hotel itself needs some hardcore renovating or cleaning up. The pool looks nice, but the room leading up to it makes you choke on chlorine, mold, and old feet smell. The staff (although incompetent for the reason mentioned above) are generally very friendly and quick with room service requests. IE. I called for some plates and napkins for a Pizza delivery we had, and they had it up in 3 minutes flat. The rooms unlike the rest of the hotel are also generally clean and comfortable. IE. We paid $170 total for two nights. You'd be hard pressed to find any hotel with cleaner rooms and better service for that price. I would give this place easily 4 stars had they at least gotten our room reservation right. This review is a bit overdue (from last year). We had a wedding to attend in Duluth, and we let PriceLine negotiator, negotiate and choose our hotel. We ended up at the Radisson. The hotel was packed, and the elevator system was overloaded, and over worked. It took forever to get up to the floor, where our room was. The sleep number beds were a nightmare - and I can safely say, they are overrated. Apart from these 2 (and the revolving restaurant fiasco - more on that in another review), our stay was ok. I was completely caught off guard with what $259.00 hotel would look like. I've had many hotel accommodations, though never spent so much for so little. The hotel rooms were very dated and small. The bathroom was so small that anyone overweight might struggle. The front staff were gruff and unaccommodating and breakfast was not included. The only nice thing was the softness of the towels. We stayed here last weekend and it was fine. The hotel is dated, but the staff is very nice. I liked the sleep number matress and the warm fluffy blankets and pillows. Kids loved the pool. The restaurant on top has excellent food, Duroc pork chops rocked! The only thing a bit disconcerting was the cockroach I saw in the hall. In Minnesota, i have only seen a few. They are usually the 3/4" variety- this one was their grandpa. It was no smaller than my little finger. I have never seen a roach this size. All in all, i would stay there again, very comfortable place. read more

I have never held to high of expectations for Raddison's hotels. They put on a good front in the lobby, but once you get the room it is usually a different story. This room was just gross. There was a type of mystery yellow goop on the ceiling in the shower. I suspect mold due to the fan not working. We Where left a free used razor in the shower from the previous tenant. AC was froze solid and room was hot. Took a couple of hours to de-thaw. I recorded a video from the check-in to the room, so can validate its on Raddison.. read more

Now that I live in Reno, NV and like to visit SF, CA I would kill for a hotel like this at the rate they offered during my first review. Still can't give it more then 3 stars since it sounds like nothings changed. But OMG all I want when I visit SF is a private bathroom and no bed bugs and to not have to take out a LOAN for a hotel room. Everything is so relative. read more

The Radisson is my choice for hotel rooms in Duluth proper. In my experience the rooms are always clean, the staff is friendly and the rates are reasonable. It could certainly use an update to the interior but they keep it clean and that fills 90% of our requirements. I like the option for covered parking in Duluth. They say they allow pets, although I've never actually seen a pet inside the building. I keep my dog inside the car in the parking garage and it appears that everyone else does the same. We went up to the JJ Astor lounge on the top floor and enjoyed cocktails as we watched the city whirl by. Prices are fair, given the quality and the view. Martinis will run you $8 and a nice steak with sides will go $24. In all, it is what was in the '80s. It's a clean place to sleep on comfortable beds (we too played with the settings for the bed while watching TV). The bathrooms are nice and there's ample closet space if you stop for an extended stay. read more

As mentioned, the hotel is very old...as in outdated 10yrs ago....way overdue for remodeling of lobby, elevator, rooms, bathroom, etc. What really disappointed me was the bed covers....they had visible stains on them. Location wise, we thought being in downtown, there were places to walk to, but the harbor was a bit far still to walk, and nearby, it was bit run down and was not appealing. We ended up just driving around to find dinner that evening. read more

I've stayed at a Days Inn in better shape. This place was heavily worn around the edges and in need of an update. We were only in town for one night (for a wedding elsewhere), but weren't impressed, especially for the $180/night/room price tag. read more

Stayed here while in town for a hockey tournament. Checked in Friday, out on Sunday. Booked through Expedia. Had a perfectly fine experience. Hotel decor is a little 80s-tastic, but just fine. Everything in our room/areas we were in were clean and up-kept. Heating controls were intuitive, and VERY responsive, air filter was clean, possibly cleaner than our one at home. :) Housekeeping kept things neat and clean, no issues with trash/etc. Had no issues with the outlets in our room, although one was on a wall switch that was somewhat confusing at first. (No power to the outlet if wall switch off) Had no issues with mold, or water staining. Parking lot was right next door to hotel/attached, and although it's partially on a slope, didn't have any issues with pot holes or being unable to find a spot. Hotel had a pool/hot tub, but didn't get the chance to check it out. The restaurant on the roof (which turns, which is weird) is fancy, we went up once to check it out and didn't stay there, as I felt quite out of place in my sweats. :) The bar next door that we got BOGO coupons to on check in had rather limited hours and we were on a schedule so we didn't get to it. It *was* rather expensive for what we got, quality-wise, but it's a tourist hotel in a tourist area with very few hotels. It was also very convenient to get to, being right off 35. But the physical plant needs some serious updating/upgrading including room HVAC and the elevators. $192 after tax in offseason seems high for what it is. Literally one of the best hotel experiences I have had. The bed was great, pillows were great and my view was absolutely amazing. And not to mention the customer service was over the top and exceptional. I can't wait to stay here again! They brought me fresh coffee. The Radisson was probably the height of sophistication and elegance in Duluth. In 1970. And I doubt it's been renovated since. We stayed in the 'tower', which is a big circle. Our room had a nice view of the harbour. Bathroom was nice and big, the room was relatively clean. The heating/cooling system was a bit old - smelled musty and the the words had worn off the buttons, so it was a bit of a guessing game to figure out how to 'cool' versus 'fan' versus 'heat'. The elevators were *old* and *slow*. The location is quite convenient. It's right on Superior Street, and about a 15 minute walk from Canal Street. There's free parking in the lot. read more

They gave us drink coupons when we checked in, but the evening went another direction, that is for sure. clean room, interesting view, crappy sleep number mattress. I booked this hotel because of its location and the JJ Astor rotating restaurant at the top level. I saw the rating for this Radisson is only 6.4, so I did not expect the beautiful room to be so clean and the service so good! My whole family was totally astonished when we opened the doors to our amazing rooms on the 11th, 6th, and 3rd floors. I believe this hotel got updated recently. The most convenient part is the USB plugs close to the beds. It makes you easy to charge your mobile device while you using it on the bed. The Grab and Go breakfast is a little too early, from 5:00am to 6:30am. read more

This is my first Yelp review, so please keep that in mind. Visually the place is very cool looking. A neat mix of art deco, 40s-50s style, and modern. Cool wallpaper and art. The place also looked very clean to us and we did not notice anything dirty or gross, but full disclosure I didn't bring a black light. That is about where the positives end. We checked in and the parking lot/ramp is extremely close quartered and maneuvering a 4 door pick up is sketchy at best, especially with the pizza delivery driver blocking the entrance to ramp for a long time, more on that. 1 of the 2 elevators were broken, which led to the extended pizza parking. We waited literally 10-15 minutes to get to the 7th floor. We were told by the front desk we could use the service elevator, but when the car stopped on the 4th floor an irate employee with a random towel cart at 4pm told us this was for employees only. When told we were told told use it, she replied "yeah, but this is ours". The next trip up, we waited for the customer elevator, which again a literall 10 minute wait, and the thing squeaked the whole way up, banged at every floor, the doors opened at every floor, which I assume is because people lost patience and climbed stairs, and when it did open it was 2-3 inches below the floor level of the hallway. The whole thing was a little disconcerting. We get to the room and again, looks cool. But the shower is extremely cold. The toilet flushes with the sound of a hand grenade. As does everyone else's around ours. All night, all you hear are mini explosions all around as people flush. Unsure if there was a vent/fan as none came on with either light switch, and mirror definitely fogged pretty badly. Tried vending machines on 2 floors and both sodas purchased were warm. Doors all around you slam all night, as I'd there is not a soft close door closer installed in the entire facility. Not a single giant bad/trip destroying experience, just the sum of all minor issues led to a less than positive experience. This sounds pretty petty to type, but it was just terribly inconvenient to come and go from the hotel with the elevator and parking issues. History of reviews on Yelp and google show this place to be plagued by elevator issues, warm vending, inconsistent employees, and cold showers, and they do not appear to have been addressed. I don't think I will ever stay here again and honestly feel terrible having this as my first review. We were very saddened by this entire experience because it is such a cool looking and historical hotel. Thank you. read more

Over priced rooms, weekend price was jacked to $300+ with tax. Oct 19th, 2018. We booked 2 rooms, checked in 4;30PM, rooms not ready, Lobby full of pissed off people. They do have a nice rotating Sky Bar. Noisy hallways, slamming doors, noisy pipes all night. Rooms ok, but not at that price. Don't get room near elevator, get room with Bay view , if you choose to stay there. This is not the way to run a good hotel. There are no excuses for poor service and high priced rooms. It just means ownership and management are able to pull it off, and are not really interested in your experience, just your money, these are short sited people. May I suggest the Sheraton, we will try that next. read more

Way over priced for what's offered. We spent over $250/night for a double queen room which was very small. The beds and TV seemed to be newer, but the linens were dirty. When I pulled the sheet back there were wads of hair on the sheet/bed which was gross. The bathroom was not updated in a very long time. The toilet seat was cracked and broken and overall the shower had an old dingy feeling. No "free" breakfast as with many hotel chains now, but our room did have a fridge and microwave so I was able to pop a pop tart in the microwave to hold the kids over until we could go out for some real food. Finally, there was a bachelorette party or something on the same floor as us during our stay who made a ton of noise in the lobby as well as the floor we were staying on. After repeated requests for them to keep it down as to not wake my toddler they just carried on making noise. No one in the hotel seemed to care. When we return to Duluth in the future we will not be staying at the Radisson! read more

I stayed here over the weekend, the staff was really nice and the rooms were pretty, the only reason why I'm docking stars is because the elevators did not work at all! There was one out of order which is okay I understand but while I was there they were taking so long that one time my group waiting close to 10 minutes. I do have to thank them for this weekend though, there was so many groups there and they were able to be so polite to us. Thanks you guys! I just hope the elevators get fixed:) read more

Frustrating visit. The room was nicely updated, but don't stay here if you have small kids. We stayed here 2 nights with our 2 year old son. We paid event pricing - $375 a night. No housekeeping, had to ask the front desk for towels, elevator stopped 12 inches off the floor (management said that was normal). When we asked the front desk where we could buy milk for our son, they said nowhere within walking distance. We had to drive several miles for 8 oz of milk. If you are looking for a romantic night for a young, financially secure couple, enjoy! (Just hold your nose in the common spaces. The carpet is old and musty.). Everyone else - beware. read more

Dirty. The light fixtures over the concierge desk are filthy and several bulbs out. I pointed it out to the clerk and she said "wow" in a snotty tone. The carpets were stained in all traffic areas. No special cleaning for COVID or hand sanitizer at elevators. The decor is dark grey and dingy in hallways, the room entries are cramped and narrow-2 doors to an alcove. The beds were dirty underneath abd where they met the walls. The pool is a nightmare of buckled pool liner at the bottom and floating clumps of hair on top of the water. Unappealing pool area. Got a Groupon to here for a short weekend. We thought it was just alright. It is clearly a very old building and they ran out of money renovating it seems. We are very pleased with our stay. The rooms are very clean and everyone is very friendly. The housekeeper, Kelly, did an excellent job and went above and beyond to help us feel welcome and comfortable. The food at the restaurant was delicious and the the service was great. A very fun experience with the revolving restaurant allowing for a lovely view of downtown duluth and Lake Superior. The lobby has beautiful decorations, complimentary coffee and lemon water. First room we had to literally slam our body weight to open it. They gave us a different room, but we had to convince them first of the problem. They only had one working elevator and apparently it's been like that for awhile. There were COCKROACHES in the sauna and pool area. Staff was friendly, the room was fine. Disappointing experience. Was quoted a lower price when making reservations, which was also acknowledged by staff during check-in, but was billed a much higher rate day of check-out. Called the front desk, they were not helpful. They acted like they were entitled to charge more and that I was dumb for questioning the bill that was slipped under our room door. The room was tolerably adequate. Kcups were decaf, called and asked for non-decaf, they said they would send some up..., which never occurred. The bathroom was far too small and the toilet was in an awkward location. There was only one large towel for two people. Elevators were slow, noisy ~ seemed sketchy. Sounded like a guitar string being over-wound when moving. Parking was HORRIBLE and you were essentially left to fend for yourself in an overcrowded and dilapidated parking ramp. Never saw a security person during our three night stay. We were given the option to decline cleaning service to be more "econo-friendly" in exchange for two bar drinks, which came with significant restrictions. During check-out the staff was not polite. The Radisson was more or less indifferent, they already had charged our CC, we no longer mattered. The did not even ask "how was your stay". Very disappointing! Most likely will AVOID the Duluth Radisson hotel and other Radisson properties in the future. Not asking for much. Just want a clean and safe hotel, where the hotel appreciates and accommodates travelers in a genuine and polite matter for a reasonable rate. I chose this hotel because of its unique shape and location to the lake. However, I was not offered a lake view room, even after I asked. The first room I checked in to had dried urine on the toilet seat. I was offered another room. However, the rooms need to be upgraded. The tile, carpeting, and the wallpaper is very old and discolored. It's definitely not worth the price they are charging, and i would not stay here again. read more

This was very much a disappointing stay,the rooms were very small,no breakfast served to guests.while taking a shower, the tub filled with water (essentially taking a bath with the previous guest,GROSS!) Way too much for what you get. $150+ and we had a tiny room that parts of the floor hadn't seen a vacuum since they were invented. Rusty water came out of the pipes. Parking is terrible if you come on a busy weekend. Sleep number bed was broken. Tiny room with lakeview... Lake is blocks away obscured by city. Elevator takes forever, and stairs came out of the Bates Motel. They didn't send my business UPS as they lost it for six days. Refused to expedite ship it to rectify their error. Carlson Corporate and hotel's owner agreed they should have expedited the documents, but Rhonda the GM obviously missed all the customer service classes in her rush to the top. $150 courier fee to fix it and she refused. Interesting to note I am a very vocal part of an annual convention that books a out 2500 rooms for 4-7 days. If we booked her entire hotel next year for this event... That is about $200,000+ worth of business. Seems like $150 courier fee is a small price to pay for $200,000 of guaranteed business annually. read more

We had a great experience at the Radisson in Duluth this past weekend. From calling the front desk staff to checking in to the accommodations - all wonderful! Had a great view of Bentleyville from our room. Easy to walk to see the lights and to get to the Canal Park's restaurants...even in winter! Phenomenal views from the top floor restaurant just capped off a wonderful night away for our family. read more

There was no parking available in the ramp when we arrived at 9pm on Friday so we had to park in the bowling ally parking lot a block away and get a pass from the hotel. The hotel is very outdated. Sleep number beds were not very comfortable, we had 2 double beds in our room. We stayed in one of the rooms with a harbor view but the windows were facing the bay area of the lake so there wasn't much of a view, even on the top (15th) floor. We were able to get the room at half price instead of the regular price. We would have been very disappointed had we paid full price. Rooms are very small and ours even had a rotting/moldy board along the baseboard by the window. We did go up to the restaurant Sunday morning for breakfast but did not stay because of the wait. The restaurant did look very nice. The location is very convenient also. read more

Spending a lot of cash per night on our room I would've expected employees to be at the front desk, warm water in the shower, a non mildew smelling room, sleep number beds that have working remotes, and a functioning air conditioner. I would never stay here again, especially for the rate they charge. They charge at an upscale rate and deliver a subpar motel experience. Save yourself the trouble and go down the street. We've just checked in. Our room smells like smoke and the light bulb blew out in the lamp, the ice machine on our floor doesn't work, carpets throughout the building are stained and nasty. When asking directions for the patio the staff was not polite. 2 rooms for 3 nights for $766. I'm disappointed and haven't spent one night. read more

What a disappoint! Go somewhere else! For the price, we got a dirty room with stained carpets, peeling paint, water stains on the ceiling and it smelled bad, like a loaded diaper and what seemed to be black mold on the bathroom grout between the tiles. We called the front desk about the odor and they sent up a repair man who sprayed some deodorizer in the room because there was nothing he could really do. The entire hotel is in disrepair. The parking ramp seems like its about ready to collapse. Parked my car under the parking ramp over the weekend with rushing water between the decaying ramp structure, it was rainy that whole weekend and developed calcium deposits on the drivers side windshield, right in the middle of my line of sight, tried getting it off the windshield but I couldn't. I had 155 miles to get back home and that was going to drive me crazy and also unsafe. I went to the front desk and told them about it and their response was "If you go through a car wash that should take care of it" and it was on a very rainy day and I call BS. They didn't seem to care, so lucky that I had a ice scrapper it my car. It required a lot of elbow grease and hot water from the hotel but I finally got it after 20 minutes of anger from their lack of disregard. I don't think a "car wash" would have gotten rid of the calcium deposit that took me 20 minutes to scrape off!!!! I was there for a convention and I didn't book it, next convention I will book my own room elsewhere!!! read more

This hotel had the WORST costumer service I have EVER experienced. The manager on duty was so rude that we ended up leaving and not staying. Two people fell down the stairs near the hotub (one lady ended up bleeding pretty bad) and she was even rude to them! I called twice to talk to the hotel in the past 2 weeks and let them know I was have my 9 year olds bday party with a few friends and my grandparents and that we would like somewhere to set up sandwiches and eat. They told me to inquire when I checked in. I did this on the day of check in and the manager on duty told me no outside food is allowed in their conference rooms. I told her I had called twice to inquire what I could do and that is not the information I received. She continues to be rude from this point on by making comments such as, "well I can ask you to leave" and "so now you're not staying after all of this?" By all of this she ment when she allowed us to have a sandwich at the pool side and we had only been there for about one and a half hours with the kids swimming. My deciding factor to leave was that the hotel rooms had dirt and hair in the corners and there was a musty odor in the room. The bathrooms downstairs were covered in urine and just dirty my daughter couldn't use the toilet. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

When we parked in garage area, I wondered if I was in the ghetto. Then the outdated lobby was also dirty and worn. I said to my family "I think i booked us in a sh*thole". After that everything got better. Misty checked us in and she was amazing, as was all other staff we talked to.the room had an updated, industrial feel to it. Talked to a housekeeper and she too gave great customer service. They offer a free shuttle which was fantastic! Great bed. Go there and don't forget to tip housekeeping and shuttle person. read more

My husband and i stayed at the Radisson in Duluth this past weekend when we were in town for a wedding. After missing the booking deadline for wedding guest rooms at a different hotel, we started scoping out our options and found this hotel at a reasonable price (around $160, which seems to be pretty good for Duluth) on Hotels.com. We booked, and then as the trip drew nearer, i started reading reviews and got really. REALLY. nervous. I saw all of the mangagement replies to negative reviews assuring guests that by next year, the hotel will be entirely different due to the remodeling - but that did not relieve my nerves surrounding our October visit. Accurate things that I'd read about beforehand and why they get 4 stars instead of 5: -Awkward parking. It's all on a hill and wonky. We got there early (1:30ish in the afternoon) and fortunately found a spot - but it was clear that if we'd been even a little bit later, we would've been parking down the street at the bowling alley. -Somewhat terrifying elevators. They're painfully slow and often stop a bit unlevel with the floor. They get the job done but they're not great and if you can help it, the stairs might be the way to go. -Powerful toilet flushing! This one makes me laugh, but it's true...if you're staying with a light sleeper and get up to "go" in the middle of the night, be considerate. -Really worn out blackout curtains. They were joke-worthy, like a horror film...the question is, was whatever made those scratches and holes trying to get INTO the room or OUT? -Minimal working electrical outlets. I wound up charging my phone in the bathroom. The positives: -Friendly and accommodating staff...we were able to check in an hour and a half early which was great since the wedding was at 4 and we needed time to get ready. -Our room was clearly one of the already (at least partially) remodeled rooms...pillowtop beds and a Keurig, WiFi, and then the usual amenities...TV, toiletries, iron/ironing board (which we used), hair dryer (also used), etc. I'm not going to see it was the most beautiful, top-of-the-line room I've ever stayed in...far from it...but it was perfectly adequate and got the job done! It wasn't the filthy nightmare that I read about far too often on here and I can tell that with the work they're doing, they'll likely become a lot more impressive by next year! We didn't eat at the hotel - neither the rotating restaurant upstairs nor the bar downstairs - but there are plenty of things in walking distance (we walked to a nearby bakery, the wedding ceremony, the wedding reception, and got late night pizza - all in walking distance of the hotel). read more

Not impressed with this hotel. Customer service is hit or miss. Not a great location, waterfront is much better. Plus, only the lobby has really been updated. Most of the rooms are old and bathrooms are outdated and small. Requested a fridge and refrigerator for a long term stay and was told it was on the way ....but never received. Horrible elevators, LONG wait and they kept getting stuck and literally shuttering. Super scary. Finally decided to check out and head to a lakefront property for the same price. Was so much happier and impressed with the Canal Park Lodge. read more
