Let me first say staff is amazing, friendly, informative, and willing to help. Now the bad parts. The hotel is outdated but to the point where it's run down. I've always stayed at the downtowner because it's affordable and clean even though it is outdated as well. Radisson is overpriced and dirty. A clean room trumps everything for me. Booked what was supposed to be nice three night getaway in Duluth at the Radisson. Won't be coming back. Parking is a disaster, I was forced to park a block away across the street in bowling alley lot, not pleasant at 40° and rain. Elevators are very slow and noisy in an uncomfortable way. Shower does vary from cool to hot intermittently as other reviews state. On the final night, as I write this, I woke to the sound of water running at 4:15. Found a guy urinating in the hallway outside my door, he then proceeded for the next half hour to shout and pound on doors (his room, I think. The girl with him in the hallway may broke up with him right then and there). My wife and I attempted to call front desk several times but got no answer. The revolving restaurant on the top floor is super cool and worth a visit just for the view alone. Keep in mind though the elevators are slow and you do not need to be a hotel guest to go. read more

I think I paid only $49 for this hotel which is located right in downtown, and has a skyway to the rest of the nearby downtown areas. Apparently the skyway was not connected for the last couple of years, but is now connected. I thought this was a steal of a deal. I had no issues at all during my 1 night here. Obviously the lobby and rooms are the nicest and most renovated areas of this older radisson hotel. Many of the bad reviews are from guests that stayed nearly a year ago or longer. It appears they have made many renovations and cleaned up their act. At least for the time I stayed and the room I was in (10th floor). Everything was clean and worked and furnished with 3 star appointed items. I would stay here again, if I was in town. read more

This hotel was pretty accomodating. I really appreciated the shuttle service they offered since Canal Park can be spendy and busy. The hotel has recently gone through some renovations in the lobby, but I'm not so sure on the rooms. The bathroom didn't have a fan for ventilation, and the window didn't have a screen on it to keep out any insects. All in all, it was a decent stay, but next time I'm opting for a place with a mini fridge. read more

This hotel is a disaster. The rooms are old, dirty, dingy, and dated. The beds are SleepNumber---some of which don't work at all---so those ones are all set to 0. The pillows are flat and old; housekeeping doesn't fully clean the rooms or refresh the space (coffee, garbage, water). Most amazingly, room service doesn't actually show up; even after multiple calls and inquiries as to where things are. There may not be a great selection in Duluth, but my all means do not stay at this worthless dive. I still have two nights left. I really wish I could go home. read more

Terrible experience. We first checked in and were given a room that was filled had someone's trash all over and that hadn't been cleaned and the bed was obviously slept in, and the toilet was clogged with poop. We called the from desk and told them this and they said "uhhhh so do you need like towels?" After we went down and asked for another room they gave us one. We walked into the new room and immediately saw clothes and suitcases and the occupant was in the shower!!!! We quickly closed the door and left. That was very unsafe and disturbing. We vacation in Duluth fairly often. Decided to give this hotel a go. Unfortunately not one we will go back to. One big negative- our AC doesn't work. It doesn't turn on. It's hot in here. Another negative- the shower temp went back and forth between hot and cold every 15 seconds. Our view isn't facing the lake so that's disappointing (but part of the gamble, I guess. Elevators are SKETCHY. And extremely slow. The walls sound like they are thin. The parking is a bit of a hell of its own. A lot seems outdated. The room is incredibly small. The (few) employees that we have been in contact with were nice. The pool was decent. Unfortunately too many negatives to have us back. Feeling kind of ripped off and that's not a good feeling. Win some, ya lose some. This was a loss. read more

probably one of my top 3 worst hotel stays. for a 15 story hotel, only 1 elevator works, and as a person who was staying on the 15th floor, i'm not taking the stairs. waiting for the elevator alone is terrible with only one, as again, 15 stories, so many people staying there. the elevator isn't leveled with the floor, so taking the luggage cart in and out is so hard. although the room was nice and so was the staff, i'm never staying here again. cool rotating restaurant tho read more

This is my first time here and we are in the older section I believe. Pretty disappointed in the hotel, it's a bit run down for the amount of money you have to pay for the room. We had to call Plumbing because of the tub drain and our friends that are with us had to call for their air conditioning because it wasn't working. This is a terrible option in the Duluth area. This hotel is quite old, and seems to have last been updated sometime in the 80s. The comforters are polyester, the beds are mediocre at best, the hallways are host to a variety of unattractive smells, and the doors seem to offer little in the way of sound proofing that you may have come to expect from other hotels. The tub drained quite slowly, to the point it would fill while showering, and the drain plug was detached and sitting in the bottom of the tub. One outlet in my room didn't work, which means the lamp attached to it also didn't work, nor was I able to use the outlet to charge my phone. The televisions are old school - no flat screens here! The hallway carpets had numerous stains, as did the fabric detailing in the elevators. Finally, my room door would not close on its own - I had to physically ensure that it was closed, otherwise it would stop just short of closing all the way. The staff are friendly enough, but nothing to write home about. The garage was so full during my stay that the staff advised me to park in the handicapped parking spots. Seems legit. read more

We came around 6 and the parking lots were in terrible shape and no space anywhere unless you wanted to park underneath an incline of a ramp. (This one is just personal) When we got into the building there were literally kids everywhere. The elevators sounded like they could crash any minute. Once we got to our room the carpet seemed super out of shape and poorly taken care of and one of our pillows had a huge clump of hair on it. We also tried out the 360 restaurant upstairs and the rotating floor was nice, but the lobby was super packed. Very small bar to stand at and the wait was over an hour. When we got seated we could barely see the menu with the lighting. It seemed like there was only one gal running tables and she seemed es very stressed. Our drinks were watered down and our food was cold and burnt. We were also missing things we had ordered and when we mentioned it nothing was brought out. Over all, I would definitely not recommend this place and will never be coming here again. read more

Wow, other reviewers have an axe to grind and obviously don't know what a good experience is. This hotel and the restaurant on the top floor has been on my bucket list ever since I was little...and they sure didn't disappoint! This hotel is amazing. It may be on the older side, but it's both clean and quiet. More importantly, everyone in question is kind, courteous and patient. They're very understanding and they go out of thier way to make you feel welcome. We had ordered the romance package and did we ever feel pampered with a $50 gift certificate to the restaurant at the top of the hotel and a bottle of Merlot in the room! They even included complimentary chocolates. It was just wonderful. And a quiet night meant actually getting some sleep, even though I never sleep well in hotels; it was certainly better than the night we spent in Austin, Minnesota the night before. This was the hotel selected for an event I was attending, otherwise I'd have made a U turn to the car once I entered the lobby. Everything in the hotel is quite worn. Staff is friendly enough, but the wait for elevators is FOREVER. Showers alternated from hot to cold, tiny bathroom, the entire room needed a refresh. A/C was super loud and never really cooled the room. BUT, the breakfast in the revolving restaurant was great. In fact, all the food (except the catered food at the event) was decent. Our family has been coming here for over 35 years , our door luck and door was busted hard to open , our bedding was torn , it was like going to stay at a family members house that was unkept and we were an inconvenience.our first night there we had two towels 1 wash cloth and they never brought up roll away bed so our grand son had to sleep with us, I called corporate and thought they would fix or move us to a room that was clean or at least a room that we could use our door , 5 times had to be rekeyed . Within 10 minutes I had a severe reaction to mold in room 322 (see pics) that I booked on Priceline for $68. Apparantly when booking there you end up in the icky part of the hotel? My room had dirt on the floor, a Bobby pin from a former guest and water stains on ceiling and windows. It was just beyond awful. I was kindly moved to a harbor view room on the 8th floor and it was much nicer and much, much cleaner. Never trust to book there again, though. read more

My boyfriend and i stayed in a premium king with a gorgeous lake view. The jj astor restaurant was delicious, the view was beautiful and the people were nice. The elevators were broken crowded and scary. There were huge spiders all over the windows, and the building was obviously worn. I know its old, but we noticed wallpaper peeling and dents in the walls. The pool was gross and foggy, although the hot tub and sauna were fine. Also our room was very small for the amount we paid. First of all I need to start this post w WE ARE in the COVID-19 era. Employees and ppl don't act the same way as we use to do. When Pulling up at this Hotel, I can already sense that it won't be the usual RADISSON hotel that I'm used to. The best way of describing this Hotel is, when Radisson Corp decided to renovate hotels....they decided to leave this one be. upon checking in we've asked if we could have a lake side view, we sure did for an extra $30 a night!!!! I've stayed at MYSTIC LAKE CASINO HOTEL and they are way more updated that this Hotel.......and Mystic Lake isn't even well know around the world and don't charge for a golf course view. While wife and infant decided to stay in our room, my 9 yr old and I decided to go swimming. Ummm........did I mention not updating this place? Yeah.....ummm my 9 yr old stood by the edge and was even iffy on jumping in. The pool has a wrap that is basically a vinyl cover around the pool that if you touch the bottom it has bubbled spots and talking about not clear and kind of mercy look to it....? And if you look on the side of the pool, you can see the brown stain from ppl who had used the pool like you would see in your tub after a good soak.....the signs that they have on the side of the pool says 4' 6", folks mind you this is on the other side of the pool that is over 8' deep!! A kid could accidentally misread this and jump in. Yes it is 8' deep cause I went to see if it's a ledge and then goes to 8' but NO it literally drops to 8'. When we called the front desk to inquire if they have vending machines the front desk had told us to look in our room key envelope for instructions.....wow talking about customer service and when we finally found it, we tried using the dollar machine and it DIDNT EVEN WORK!!!!. So at the end of the night we end up going to a grocery store to get snacks. Next morning we ordered breakfast, ok for a single meal you charge me $20 for a meal that was not even portioned big enough to share and on top of that served us toasts that are burned on one side and tried to conceal it by flipping it on the good side!!! Seriously?!! During this time my wife and I were thinking of just shortening our stay, and leave that morning but we decided to suck it up and just enjoy what's around it. To summarize this experience, RADISSON your standards should be the same across the line, HIGH!! For GOD sakes it's RADISSON!! I totally understand budget cuts, economy impact due to this pandemic, but these are not result of this pandemic, these are neglected things that had resulted to bad ending or ignorance from management and/or owners. It doesnt take a Hotel management to realize that pool area has to be updated and cleaned or making sure your vending machines don't work or even training your staff to understand that extra steps keeps guest coming back and feel welcomed. I am in the industry of making sure guests/customers are happy. And the result of this stay is far from it. Yikes. This hotel was for sure below par. We had a bachelorette party with three rooms. They were accommodating and put us next to each other, but just about everything else is a nightmare. The hotel is super outdated and they definitely put the bare minimum back into the rooms to try to make it look renovated. The rooms are TINY and the bathrooms only have room for one, which with 4 girls per room, that makes it tough. We received a bill under our door for only one of two nights that we were there?? Why wouldn't you put the whole bill under the door the morning of our checkout? While walking through the lobby I overheard another guest speaking to the front desk about the room that they had given her.. she walked in and there was someone else's stuff in that room, purses and everything. The elevators are INCREDIBLY slow and you truly have to wait for a longer period of time for the elevator than it would take you to walk down the stairs. Wouldn't do it again.... read more

I'm too lazy to make a *real* list but "sleep on a Sleep Number Bed" would probably be #673 on my list of things to do before I die if I actually had one. Now that I've slept on one, I can say that Sleep Number beds are wholly overrated and to be perfectly honest I'm glad I don't own one. They're not as comfortable as the actors in the commercials will have you believe (real shocker, that one). But I have to admit that being in a room with a Sleep Number Bed for the very first time ever provided a solid 30 minutes of entertainment for both of us. Going from 95 to 35 to 75 was a total trip. And the horrified expression on my husband's faced when the Sleep Number Motor kicked in for the first time was priceless. Aside from that, the Radisson is 70's dingy. But it's also spotlessly clean so it's got that most important factor going for it. Every staff member we met was friendly and helpful. Plus it was only $52/night thanks to hotwire. On Saturday morning my husband and I went to the Top of the Harbor restaurant on the top floor of the hotel for breakfast. And on Sunday morning we came back for the brunch buffet with my entire family in tow. I wouldn't say it was 'OMG THE MOST AMAZING BREAKFAST EVER!' but it was just a smidge above average and when you take the amazing view into consideration, this is one of those places that shouldn't be skipped. The view is absolutely breathtaking. And since the restaurant rotates, there's no such thing as a bad view. You see the lake, you see the hill--I'd be curious to go back sometime at night to see the city lights of Duluth. That would be astounding. read more

Yeah...not going there again. I love going to Duluth, but we stay in different hotels every time. We stayed here this time because we were with a group and this is where we chose to stay. I called the Radisson number, gave them the group and got the room booked, our room of the larger group was 2 adults and 2 kids. I was assured that we would have 2 beds. Rate was approx $95/night. We had to travel approx 4 hours to get there. When we were about 3 hours away, I got a call from the hotel making sure we were coming becuase they were booked. Should have realized that was a red flag. We got there about 10:30 on Friday night. Check in was smooth...all was well. We walked into the room and it was one king size bed. What?! I was really upset and went down to the desk. They had excuse after excuse...mainly blaming it on maintenance closing 4 rooms. All they had left was a 1 bed queen room. They gave us a roll away bed for free...which barely fit in the room. They told me they wouldn't charge us for that and they'd make an adjustment on the bill. So, because I checked I later than other people, I got what was left. I should add that most of the people in our group had the same problem, but they got fixed because they were much earlier. I was very disappointed in this room seeing that it's a Radisson. The curtain was ripped. Fridge as pretty beat up and looked like it had previously been in a smoking room (yellow). The edging all along the floor was tore up. I had to wipe up the bathroom floor becuase it had hair all around the edges from past guests. There was no ventilation in the bathroom, so after 2 showers, there was water dripping from the ceiling. We had a sleep number bed, but never found any remotes. I will say that I slept pretty good, though. Vending machine took daughter's money. When we got the bill slipped under the door on Sunday, they were no adjustment made to the bill. I stopped but the desk and they took $50 off the bill. I will be staying away from this hotel when I'm in Duluth and I suggest you do the same. I will be contacting the GM of the hotel to let her know about our experience. This experience has turned me off of the Radisson brand. read more

Elevators were slow, you'd wait about 10 minutes and it kept moving, even with the doors open and it stopped on every floor, even though no one was getting on. Our room had hairs in the shower, didnt drain and there was something crusty on the sheets. Phone in our room had no cord. We were tired from driving all day and there was a large group here so it was too late to change rooms. Unfortunately, we paid over $400, with tax & pet fee, for one night. Definitely not worth it! We will not return. Also, don't eat at the revolving restaurant if you have vertigo. read more

Our trip to the Radisson was a bit of a strange one for a couple of reasons. #1 It was our first hotel stay with the kids and #2 it was during the big leap year storm. We called ahead to see if we could check in early due to the storm blowing in to town. The front desk was completely okay with it and told us they would have a room ready when we arrived. Our reservation was through hotwire and was for a standard room, when we arrived at the Radisson (after a bit of a white knuckle drive) we got up to the room and we realized it would be pretty crowded with two beds and two pack and plays. The front desk again was super accommodating and bumped us up to a "petite suite" for no extra cost. The suite was on the fourth floor and here we saw the remodeling was in full swing. The room itself was perfectly serviceable but the hallways were in complete disarray. I understand and believe the phrase "beggars can't be choosers" so I don't think less of the hotel for putting us up there, my biggest concern from my visit there and reading the reviews of other Yelpers is that the Radisson appears to be in a constant state of remodel. For myself getting a deal off Hotwire I can't complain about the Radisson Duluth, mostly due to their customer service, but if I had paid full price I would have been greatly disappointed. P.S. Since we were snowed in we grabbed lunch at JJ Astor's. Because of the storm there appeared to be only one waitress and one cook working lunch service. We still had a great lunch and I plan on visiting again but I can't really give an honest review due to the strange situation. There were dirty dishes laying around the restaurant that no one had time to bus, at one point the waitress had to make a room service run and left us as the only people on that level, she actually said "If anyone comes up, tell them to grab a seat and someone would be with them in a moment." I wasn't offended or thought it took away from my meal, just not something you would usually get from a place like JJ's. The skyway became a huge plus for us since going back out in the snow was not an option. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation the skyway can take you to the library across the street, Starbucks, Subway or Schlotzsky's, an Indian Buffet, Zen House, Dublin Irish Pub or Pizza Luce. A little farther walk will take you to Lakes 10 theater or the DECC. read more

The rotating restaurant is cool upstairs, I didn't eat up there, but definitely a cool thing! You get two free drinks at the bar if you sign off on not needing maid service. While once this place was THE place to stay in Duluth, years of disinterested owners have left it a dated shell of the grand hotel it once was. But if you long for yesteryear, fear not, they have kept the prices high to make you think you are still staying at one of the nicer places in town. My final visit here started with the classic bait and switch. The king bed I reserved was somehow made into two full beds. And the front desk worker was less than apologetic when it came to the mistake, blaming it on my own lack of comprehension of how the Internet works. The room was very 1970s in decor and odor. But whatever, all we needed was a place to sleep. At 5:30 when the fire alarm started clicking loudly enough to wake us, it became clear that sleep was not an option. Called the front desk to get it fixed, and thankfully after a half hour it quit making the noise, because the promised maintenance person never arrived. After finally falling back to sleep, the alarm clock set by the previous guest went off at 7:15 to wake us once again. I went to the front desk to request a different room for our second night, and they informed me that since the problem appeared to have fixed itself, we should be fine in the same room. I was persistent, and finally they agreed to move us. Went upstairs to get some breakfast, and it took them nearly an hour (and 15 waitress apologies) to get me a very average plate of eggs). I will stay in a tent or under a bridge before again paying the Duluth Raddison's inflated price for it's deflated quality. There are so many good hotels in town, there's really no reason to waste your money here. read more

My fiance and I stayed here with his 6 year old daughter for two nights. She really wanted to stay in a hotel with a pool so we decided to head to Duluth and she was stoked to spend all her time swimming. The lobby was pretty cool with its retro furniture. The room didn't match any of that though with its beige walls and cramped room fitting two Queen size beds. I guess I am used to having a mini fridge so I can't really say anything negative about not having one... but the SLEEP NUMBER BEDS! C'mon! I was so excited to sleep on one but ours didnt work. The remote just kept shorting out and the motor would go on and die. We had to sleep on a pretty hard bed which was definitely not in our number range. The room also had visible black mold around the windows and the carpet was wet near the window and heater. This mold was also found in the pool area which also had peeling paint and scum along the sides of the pool. Pretty disgusting... even with the high levels of chlorine. After being in the pool and whirlpool for awhile my skin started to feel weird. The sauna was nice but I never sweated and there was a plank on the ceiling falling off. We didn't eat in the restaurant but had room service for breakfast one day. The French toast and bagels were good (coffee surprisingly good too) but the lox was sad. The parking lot was scary. It's directly across the street which is nice but HUGE pot holes and dripping and bleegghhh. The hotel is walking distance to some restaurants and is near the harbor. Stayed here for a birding trip to Hawk Ridge which is right down the road.It was a niceish place nothing to special. The front desk chick was super cool though she had a big head of jet black hair and looked way to styling to live in Dultuh,MN. The room was nice and clean but damn did I have some of the worst nights of sleep ever.They thought they were being cool by supplying each room with a generic sleep number bed but in all actuallity it was just a blow up matress on top of a real mattress. The one cool thing out the hotel is the top floor has a resturant called Harborview.Even if you arent staying at the hotel I would still recommend getting some breakfast there. Not so much for the food but for the fact that the whole resturant spins as you eat.Its really cool! You slowly move and get to see the whole town of duluth within your meal. read more

Not sure where to start. We'd requested a quiet room when we made the reservation. The walls were so thin that the conversation in the next room might as well have been in our room. The phone didn't work, and after messing with it for ten minutes I realized that I had to push and hold the cable really hard into the wall jack or the connection would drop. When I got through to the front desk and asked for a new room, they told me that would not be possible, but that they would let the people in the next room know that they were too loud. I told him they weren't loud, they were talking quietly but I could still hear every word. He just apologized and said he'd talk to them. Thanks for making me the most popular kid on the block. Geez. When I checked in, they told me that i probably had to park a block away because their parking lot was probably full. I drove through the lot and found many open parking spots. I reminded them that we needed a pack-n-play for a baby in our room. The guy at the front desk was smokin' silly greens or something, and here's why. I asked for a pack-n-play when I checked in with him and and got the key, and he agreed. Thirty minutes later he showed up at our door with 3 other guys (only after I reminded another front desk staff member about our request when I called about the thin walls) and these guys just walked right in without knocking. He said that he was sorry for barging in, but that he didn't think we had checked in yet. Same guy that I talked to! The staff at the Radisson is awful. On to the hotel itself. The interior is disgusting. It was dirty, outdated and a little creepy. The sheets felt like they hadn't been washed in some time, so I slept on too of the comforter and kept all my day clothes on because I didn't really want to touch it. The walls had cracks, the vintage A/C was all rusted, and there was a small ugly refrigerator that was so nasty looking and out of place that I almost unplugged it and put it in the hallway. I could go on and on. Do yourself a favor and pay a little extra to get a nice room somewhere else if you visit Duluth. This place is an ashtray. read more

Took a weekend trip to Duluth along with the girlfriend and family this weekend, and stayed at the Radisson Harborview. Although it is in a great location being right downtown, the hotel itself seems a bit on the outdated side. Our rooms were okay, nothing special. The beds are fairly comfortable and the rooms are spacious enough, but the bathrooms are in need of repair. The ambiance of the building screams out its need for a remodel. We also ate breakfast at the restaurant on the top floor of the building... the food left much to be desired and it was obvious that you are paying for the view and rotating restaurant floor. Overall it served its purpose, but I couldn't help but think it wasn't up to the standard of most Radisson Hotels. read more

Overpriced, not very courteous staff, so so bed, lukewarm shower on a cold night and a "whatever" response from the desk to low hot water issue. The bartender at the downstairs bar claimed he could not make a hot toddy and was somehow incapable of bringing us brandy, hot water, and a little butter in a hotel with two full bars and a bar food menu in the downstairs space. I purchased the room on Priceline blindly. All I knew was that the hotel was listed as a 3-1/2 stars for $95. Once I purchased the room and learned that, it was a Radisson, I was pleased. Then I began to read the horrible reviews and expected the worst. What we found was a hotel in need of an update. But the room was clean, the beds were comfortable, the service was friendly - for $95 not bad. If I paid $200 for the room, I'd have been disappointed! This review is about the rotating dining. I haven't actually stayed at the Radisson hotel but certainly wanted to share our family's experience at the restaurant. We made reservations on Easter Sunday for their brunch. What a great experience! We arrived earlier than our reservation and thought we would check to see if we could get our table early. They were so gracious and put together a table within a few minutes. They have an updated decor and it was a very clean place. We had a fabulous server. She was very attentive to our needs and somehow always kept track of us even though we were always moving! I am just super impressed. I would have such a hard time keeping track of people if that were me!!! The food was great. There were 2-3 people always watching and exchanging out food. There was a great variety - eggs benedicts, waffles with various toppings, salad, turkey, ham, mash potatoes - more desserts than a person needs - but will definitely want! The food was fresh. The views were really amazing and the speed is set just perfectly that a complete rotation will be perfect with your dining experience. I would certainly recommend going there. I read a lot of the reviews before I decided to post, however I don't agree with them. Our room when we checked in was very clean, organized, and made us feel like we were at a home away from home. Our stay was pleasant, and we had a blast while we were here. We were staying on the top floor (15) and had a king suite. The bed was comfortable, the pillows nice and soft, and the view was pretty decent. We weren't able to get a harbor view because they were sold out which isn't surprising, but it was still a great stay. I would recommend at least trying it if you get a good deal on Groupon. And try the restaurant on the top floor, it rotates so anywhere you sit you can see all the views of Duluth. Happy travels! read more

Our stay was only one night (and two meals), but the experience was as good as can be expected. We paid extra for a view of Lake Superior, but the check-in clerk searched for the best deal for us, and found one! They know how to treat tourists! Parking is free, and you're close to downtown. Indeed, even on a cold January day we walked to the Depot/Historic Train Museum and the Library. The view was, indeed, worth the extra $$, at least for one night. Hotel room was pleasant and warm, though a bit noisy even on the 10th floor. The revolving restaurant at the top was pretty good, too (see separate review). Breakfast was a better deal than the touristy prices for dinner, and I liked my selections better than my travel companion. But stay for the hour or so it takes for the restaurant to go all the way around! We didn't use any of the amenities like the Business Center, pool or Fitness Center, but the entire place reeked of class. Midrange between the cheaper hotels a bit farther out of town and the pricier places right on Canal Park, I would go back here if I was going to stay in Duluth for a few days. read more
