I had an appointment scheduled for tomorrow, and late today I received a call informing me that the office needed to postpone it. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. The same thing has happened to me before, and my wife has also experienced similar last-minute changes with this office. I completely understand that occasionally an unexpected situation can force a dental office to reschedule an appointment. However, when it happens repeatedly, it becomes a pattern and reflects poor planning and appointment management. Patients organize their work schedules, family responsibilities, and other commitments around medical and dental appointments. Canceling or postponing appointments at the last minute--particularly when it happens repeatedly--shows very little consideration for the patient's time. I am posting this review because prospective patients should be aware of our experience before scheduling here. The issue is not the dental treatment itself; my complaint is specifically about the reliability of their scheduling and planning. If you need a dental office where you can reasonably rely on an appointment taking place on the date and time scheduled, I would strongly suggest asking this office about its cancellation and rescheduling practices before making an appointment.

If you already gave them your debit card number, change it immediately. The office staff is lazy and hides behind texts and emails, especially when unexpected costs are due. Don't expect them to answer when you call or to return your call. They will make minimal effort to contact your insurance company (only one) and then TEXT you about massive minimal charges the day of the surgery. (Over $350, in my case.) The incompetent office staff don't even communicate with Dr. Patino, so if another doctor consents to surgery, via direct text to doctor, they will make you supply documentation, even though the duplicate documentation was already faxed to them. Read the other reviews (that are not written by office staff) if you have any doubts. You have a choice.

I had 2 extractions done by Ace oral a few months ago, and was pleased. The dentist was kind and very competent in autoimmune disorders and anxiety and treatments. He prescribed me anxiety medicine for this procedure, and I followed his directions. Overall, the procedure went well, barely overcoming my anxiety. The dental assistant was fabulous, caring, and kind. Now, today I went in for a tooth to be extracted. This time the dentist prescribed another type of anxiety medicine for my second procedure. Again, I followed his directions on how to take this medication. I did this and my daughter walked me in. The receptionist laughed at me as my daughter walked me in to the procedure room. She told my daughter to wait to see if the surgeon was going to perform my extraction. I sat in the office and waited for the dentist as his assistant numbed my mouth. When the dentist walked in he said, "Are you ready?" I cried and asked if I can take a half of one of the medication to help ease my increased panic. He became upset, saying, "No No No, you are drunk." You are not getting any more. I replied, "I am not drunk, I am nervous." He went on to say , "You are a problem patient and get off of my chair." I got up still half loopy and cried for my daughter who was waiting in the office area. He accused me of trying to manipulate him. He called me a drug addict. I am a teacher and not a drug addict. I felt that this dentist insulted me and brought me severe distress. I do not want anyone else to endure this behavior, especially when they are in pain. I have an appointment with another dentist and oral surgeon. After all of this, I pray for the dentist and his staff who lack compassion and judge people by their beliefs.

Dr. Sun always takes the time to check in to see how I am doing in my life while providing excellent dental care. The staff are also very efficient. I have never had long waits while in the clinic even if I am put into the schedule last minute for extra procedures since I am from out of town. I highly recommend Dr. Sun to all those in the area! I was treated superbly by his staff from every moment of contact. His receptionist , his surgical assistant ( Brandie) and his insurance / billing person were by far very pleasant and professional, and all very personable (Brandie, his Assistant in particular was exceptional) by his office staff. I had 1 tooth extracted under a local anesthetic, and followed the written and verbal instructions to the letter. I had minimal swelling and pain. I took 1tylenol just before procedure and 1 a few hours after and that was it ! Never had any discomfort. Dr. Huvar can pull my teeth anytime! This is coming from an absolute baby when it comes to…read moredentistry. Just the thought of walking into the dentist cause my knees to become weak. Unfortunately, I had a root canal that failed, so an inevitable molar extraction was staring me in the face. But wait, it took me a whole year to muster up the courage to even have the root canal - Insert crying woman. Things weren't looking too good for me. Another year goes by and I make several dentist appointments, only to cancel each one. I knew I couldn't go on like this and I needed to tend to my mouth. But possible pain, trumps logic for me every time. I was pondering how I'm going to overcome my fear and I said to myself - self, you need a professional tooth puller! After googling and realizing that title didn't exist, I discovered Oral Surgeon. (cue the music please) I was instantly and pleasantly overwhelmed with the possibilities of using a surgeon vs a dentist. After I researched several Oral Surgeons, I found Dr. Huvar, who happened to be in network and have an office location along my weekly route. All I can say is Dr. Huvar is sooooo gentle and sooooo skilled that he could probably perform extractions with his eyes closed, in his sleep, after a long days work, while facebooking, during spinning class and definitely while texting. It took him about 45 seconds to remove my molar. He came in and touched my gums, then told me to sit tight. He came back in the room and touched my mouth again and said - "all done!" Whatttttt!!!???? You can't be. I haven't felt any pain yet. He wasn't joking. I looked over at my tooth on the tray. Not only did I survive, but I felt absolutely nothing! After gazing at him in a teenaged, dreamy sort of way, Dr. Huvar provided a prescription pain medication - never filled it. I went on to eat that night and never encountered any pain. If I ever leave the state and need an extraction, I'll fly in, just so I can see Dr. Huvar.

I was not in a good mood when I arrived because I did NOT like "going to the dentist" due to bad childhood experiences. Dr. Huvar IMMEDIATELY sensed that I was not in the best of moods and calmly, patiently, reassuringly helped me to feel much better. He has demonstrated this same professionalism at each of my appointments. There was ONE appointment that needed to be rescheduled for later the same day, but it did not affect anything for me. On the morning of one of my appointments, I was delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. I immediately notified the office. They gave me a later time for THE SAME DAY. Things worked out fine! Dr. Huvar is a 100% attentive, calming, caring, pleasant, professional, sensitive, thorough, and understanding Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. I had him do seven dental implants in 2017. He did a superb job explaining the entire process and patiently answering all of my nervous questions. The office staff were attentive and shared the same attributes as Dr. Huvar. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM AND HIS OFFICE STAFF!!!
