The conflicting information and the way my concerns were handled were unprofessional and unacceptable. At my first appointment, I was told I would receive a call explaining the copay. That call never came. I later spent approximately an hour in the back discussing whom I had spoken with instead of getting the payment information clarified. The conversation had not been documented, and identifying the employee should not have become my responsibility. Cely eventually gave me a breakdown about three weeks ago. To confirm what my son would owe, I called again before his appointment and was told there was no copay. As my son was leaving his appointment, Cely hurried after him to tell him he did have a copay and to have me call her. He was surprised because he had not understood that anything was due. I was then told that the receptionist does not know whether there is a copay. If that is the case, why was I told there wasn't one instead of being connected with someone who could verify it? That was exactly why I called again. Patients should not have to make repeated calls and still receive contradictory answers. These conversations need to be documented so staff can provide consistent information. When I asked for clarification, I received comments such as "Where were you?" and "That's why I gave you a breakdown." My son is an adult and can attend appointments independently. My whereabouts do not explain why the office gave us conflicting information, and a previous breakdown does not resolve the contradictory answer I received afterward. There was also an issue with appointment confirmation. I received a text asking us to confirm and replied that I had already done so. The response, "Well, you just confirmed," came across as dismissive and argumentative. I was simply informing the office that the appointment had already been confirmed. A polite clarification would have been enough. When I asked to speak with the manager, Erica, Cely said she was in a meeting and could not transfer me. Instead, she gave me an extension that turned out to be invalid. While I was unsuccessfully trying to reach Erica, she called me approximately two minutes later. This left me feeling misled and questioning the explanation I had been given. It also gave me the impression that Cely wanted to brief the manager before I could explain my concerns directly. Regardless, I should have been given a working way to reach management. I am a director at a large corporation and have experience communicating with patients. I understand the importance of professionalism, accurate documentation, and respectful service. I also understand that insurance estimates can change, but that does not excuse contradictory answers or dismissive responses when someone asks for clarification. I have dental insurance with good coverage and expect a clear explanation of any out-of-pocket costs. This office needs better communication between departments, proper documentation, and accountability for how staff speak to patients and their families. The kindness of the dentist and hygienist should be matched by the staff handling appointments and insurance.

The last time I called the doctor office they said they were shut down for the past month to help resolve multiple billing/insurance issues, and we were not the only one experiencing issues. They also informed me that they were not in my medical insurance network, which they did not previously let us know even though they had all of our info prior to starting. If you are looking for a doctor that coddles you & drags things along, then this isn't your guy. I made an appointment for a consultation & they took x-rays. I hadn't had any recently, if you have them, they won't take them again like others might. Dr. Scheive told me what to expect throughout & at the end, the ladies up front told me how much my insurance would pay & my out of pocket cost. I made an appointment for the next available date in my schedule which was about a week later. I paid my portion & had my procedure. My guy & my daughter came to pick me up, & we went home. They called to check on me & see if I had questions. They told me I could call anytime if needed. Luckily, everything went smoothly. I made a follow up, but if you're doing well, it's not necessary. The dentist's assistant was great. She went through & showed me how to really get in & clean my recently extracted areas. She asked if I wanted to see the doctor & I said it wasn't necessary if everything was good. I would give them 5 stars, but my first time there I waited for about 1.5 -2 hours. They had some kind of emergency which I realize wasn't their fault, but I had expected to go back to work. It would've been nice for them to let me know that it was going to be awhile. Also, right before my procedure, I waited 30-45 minutes to go back. I had the day off so it wasn't a big deal for me, but no one likes to wait. I can imagine if you have high anxiety in these situations, waiting probably makes it worse. My follow up appointment was totally different though. I was in & done within 20-30 minutes. Either way, all of my appointments were during the week so I can't say a Saturday would be better or worse. Overall, the experience was really good.
