i have written multiple emails to the CEO, to the Regional manager and to the Owner of the Aspen Dental at Bolingbrook Illinois requesting them over and over again to honor the warranty for the comfilyte dentures that have cost thousands of dollars to get and they supposedly have 7 years warranty. The dentures are defective as they split in half after a year. NO RESPONSE. I am planning to call the Illinois Attourney's office today and file a formal complaint. read more

Absolutely crooked! Didn't do the work and charged more than 6 times what their estimate was. I went for my first visit and they said I needed a deep cleaning, and said it would take an hour per side. They gave me an estimate of $228.20 for the work that they ended up doing. The actual work took less than 10 minutes per side making me question whether that was a deep cleaning, or whether I really needed one. Then they charged me $1418. Also , very difficult to communicate with. They don't return calls as promised. They put you on hold if you get through and after a time, your call is transferred to another message that says they can't talk to you now, but you can leave a message. I have been looking for a dentist that accepts the Active Duty United Concordia insurance and finally found a place that understands how to bill them! I walked in and recieved my xrays, spoke with the dentist and the hygienist and the billing manager all of which were more than attentive and caring! The hygienist was bubbly and kind and had exteme patience while I handled a quick emergency work call during my cleaning! She explained to me everything she was doing with 0 pain. Mind you it had been 2 years since my last visit so I had some build up. I had anticipated some pain but she made sure I was comfortable the entire time! The next person I met with was the dentist he came in and explained everything to me and was very patient with my questions. Next person I met with was the billing manager because I wanted to get the Motto Trays but ortho is not covered by my insurance. They worked out a payment plan and had time to get my teeth scanned for my trays same day!. The woman who scanned my teeth again explained the whole procedure to me and was very quick and accurate. After reading the other reviews I was very worried about my visit, but I had an amazing experience and cant wait to go back for my Motto Trays! read more

Customer Service is OUTSTANDING, they genuinely want your feedback and will take what ever actions necessary to insure your complete satisfaction. The review would have been quite different 6 months ago. But through discussions with staff and administrators, become aware that they take customer feedback VERY seriously. Staff is very friendly and dentists and hygienists explain the recommendations and treatments very well, in layman's terms without sounding condescending. They accept patients where they are, and are never judgmental. They are concerned with offering the best and most affordable options available and always willing to work with insurance and budget options. Wish I found these guys years ago. read more

First I'd like to say I am a former HIGH anxiety patient. I say former quite strongly. A simple check up could send me into a panic! All thanks to my childhood dentists. Brief info...my WHOLE neighborhood saw this dentist. Everyone said he liked to inflict pain. My brother is almost 60, has no cavities, and a simple normal, cleaning as a child, even had HIM suffer! Sorry, I digress. The dentist our family went to retired. So searching for a new one wasn't easy. Now we're empty nesters whom BOTH experience "dental phobia"! My husband was in pain. Searched for a dentist and chose Aspen Dental in Bolingbrook, Il. There are a plethora of dentists to choose closer to us, but this one felt like a good fit. It's 10 miles from our home. Hubby entered the office and immediately felt comfortable. The atmosphere was calm. Office staff ALL were happy AND smiling! In our life long experience that's a rarity! Every staff member he encountered, along the way was smiling, happy, courteous, professional, kind, and genuinely enjoyed being there. Upon meeting Dr. Sam Kitchen he felt IMMEDIATELY at ease. She oozes kindness! Such a knowledgeable young professional! That's his visit. My visit was next, a few days later. After being together for decades, LOL, I trust his judgment. Specially since I have such Dental anxiety. My visits ALL have been a repeat of his! TOP notch!!! Dr. Sam and staff take their time with each patient. Each is met with gentle kindness. EVERYONE there is GENUINELY happy!!! I have ALWAYS felt AT EASE!! As far as my anxiety, triggered by a Dental visit goes. There was NONE!!! NONE!!! My wish is i could Sprinkle water on Dr. Sam and her staff, and multiply them just like the Gremlins!!! ONLY identical to the original!!! Happy! I've heard some negative stories about "Aspen Dental" in general. What you have to take a look at is the Dentist. Easiest way to explain this is think of Aspen Dental as a franchise. This review is devoid of any evaluation of physical services provided. I just left the Aspen Dental in Bolingbrook, Il. The facility looks GREAT and the folks who greeted me were AWESOME!!!!! HOWEVER..... When I walked in I noticed and advertisement that stated " $19.99 for exam and x-rays." Initially, this didn't register because I am insured. So I ONLY wanted to get a cleaning, my normal dentist is booked out to October. But per Apsen policies, I had to an exam and x-rays. The x-ray process was smooth and took 5 min. Then I met with the hygienist, which also took about 5 minutes. After which I was told to wait and the Dr. would be in shortly. We'll 35 minutes later, I walked out unseen by the Dr. I was just sitting there with no follow-up, no nothing. So as I was leaving, I chose to set up a new appointment. While doing so, I asked if all the services my insurances company is about to billed for are the same services covered by the $19.99 advertisement..... I was told they are EXACTLY THE SAME!!!!! WOW!!!!!!! So, please be advised, plan on hanging out for a while and consider bring $20 bucks if you dont wanna bang your insurance.​ read more

Horrible facility. I had an appointment & STILL had to wait in the waiting room for 20 minutes to be called back - UNACCEPTABLE ! I then made my next appointment a MONTH IN ADVANCE & the day before the actual appointment they changed it to 45 minutes later than my original appointment - UNACCEPTABLE! While I was there, I received conflicting information from different personal on my follow up care & they did not call in my after surgery meds in a timely manner so that I had to wait until the following day to get MY MUCH NEEDED follow up medicine - even though I did call the day before to remind them/ask about the meds. I should have read the reviews on this place before I went there, hopefully I can save another person from dealing with hot mess of a this place. read more

This is more to do with customer reps than the dental staff. All the assistants and Dr Malachi was fantastic I was required to prepay for dentures to the tune of $4500 saying that was based off what my insurance would cover. My insurance ended up covering far more than expected. I was told I would be receiving a refund. It's of relevance to the story that my parents very graciously help me pay for this, so the refund would go to them. After that initial contact with Manager Dana, I have heard NOTHING. Call to see if it was processed, was told yes. Waited a while, called again, Dana was out. Dana was out of the office every other time I've called. Then I was told she no longer works at this office. My parents are owed 3500 and we gotten ZERO contact. Avoid this practice. read more

My family had been patients for over 2 years. The level of service went from 4 stars to 0 stars. They would cancel appointments without notification. Imagine taking a whole day off work to go to a dentist appt and when you arrive they say oh we can't see you. Imagine driving to an appt and as you turn into the lot they call and say oh we can't see you today. We have now had to take our business elsewhere. Type of care and quality of care. Poor service. Hard to get through to make or cancel an appointments. My husband went for a visit teeth hurting back molars top and bottom, they did lots of X-rays took so long to come and talk to him, did more X-rays waited again, just to say his about 1 year root canal was infected and needed to be redone. Barely 1 year passed. If they would have answered me 3 months ago for my follow up maybe this would have not happened, now they want him to pay again! The Dr. Zi Jian Wu, he did not send antibiotics or pain medication to his pharmacy just left him to do another procedure with another client. I made an appointment for my daughter, took her and then they tell me that for afternoon appointments they only do x-rays and exams!!! For a cleaning I have to go in the morning or wait a month for an afternoon appointment!! What a waste of time!!! I suggest they let patients know ahead of time this information. read more

The hygentist would NOT take the toothbrush off what I was getting charged for even though I did not want it. She said that I didn't have to take it, but was being charged for it. Also, they charged me for a perminant bridge that was supposede to have been delivered. I tried to cancel it. No refund for it and NO bridge. I had a lower molar with a a very big old silver filling that was starting to cause me pain and an upper molar on the same side that was not in pain but had a chip. The dentist recommended TOOK x-rays and said there was no deep decay in either tooth, but they need to be crowned. It cost almost $3,000 after my insurance. I didn't have any money to pay for that (like most Americans) because I am disabled and on a fixed income. I was very emotional and in pain and I felt somewhat pressured into applying for dental credit to pay for this procedure. I told him I really did not want to and I didn't really have the best credit. The office manager's response, "Oh just apply, most patients who have bad credit still get approved, you'll get approved." I applied on the iPad that he shoved in front of me and as he said, I was approved and the procedure was paid for. The procedure was done and I received the temporary crowns. Following the procedure, I was in excruciating pain with both teeth. I could not eat or bite down either. I called the office and explained to them what was going on (I thought it was just a high bite issue) and they took a bunch of x-rays again while I was there and the dentist told me that he didn't seem any infection/decay, but that in my lower molar with the crown the nerve was inflamed. "Oh probably from the trauma of the procedure or the high bite that I had. He prescribed me pain pills and told me I should be completely free of pain by the next week when I had to come back in for a deep cleaning. The next appointment, I was still in bad pain, but of course taking the pain pills around the clock were masking most of the pain while I was there in the office. After my deep cleaning, the same dentist had them take more x-rays and again told me he DID NOT see anything in the two crowned teeth; oh but tooth nerve is still inflamed. He tapped on my teeth trying to see how bad the pain was BUT again I was on prescription pain pills that you prescribed so I didn't feel much of anything. So what was the point of doing that?! Oh here's biggest the kicker; he couldn't do anything more for me, but I could make an appointment to see a specialist where they could give me a 3-D x-ray to see what's going on deeper inside. "I don't know, you might need a root canal." I'm still in confusion. He tells me Nick Wraizen the office manager would come in the room and discuss things with me. I sat in there for almost 45 minutes while NO ONE ever came back in the room. I finally got up and grabbed my things and walked out the room to actively find the office manager. He's assisting another patient and he had no idea he needed to talk with me because the dentist never said anything to him. After waiting more until he finished up with the patient; I then sit down with him and he tells me oh after your insurance the appointment to get a 3-D x-ray with a specialist will be almost $500 out of pocket... hmm okay well, I can't afford that because again I am on disability! Oh okay, the suggestion from office manager "I guess just keep taking pain meds around the clock." With a sorry can't help you expression on his face. I then just sadly walked out. I'm still in PAIN and taking pains meds around the clock (which is not good for my body or liver) as I am writing this. I am so hurt and I don't know what to do! read more

I have been going to Aspen dental for years. I used to go to the one in Joliet but this one is closer to my home. First things first, that expensive toothbrush everyone is talking about...it is not required that you buy it! When I first started going I needed a deep cleaning/scaling and also included in my plan of care was that toothbrush. When my hygienist started talking about how I was getting that toothbrush, I just had a conversation with her and was able to remove it from my list of things to pay for. This was however at the Joliet location. You always have the right to refuse whatever they prescribe you or have in your plan of care at any medical facility for any reason. For someone who never has cavities or any work done besides cleaning I really enjoy Aspen. My dental insurance covers my 6 month cleanings. Appointments go smoothly, although sometimes there is a lengthly wait. The whole experience feels like the "fast food" of dentistry, but i enjoy that because it's efficient and I have not had any issues. The staff is always friendly and making an appointment is easy. read more

I read the terrible reviews how they are just so money hungry, blah, blah, blah. I went to them anyway and saw first hand what the reviews meant. They took one look inside my mouth and told me about all the work I'd need, I naïvely agreed and paid upfront for future work. A week later my Father unfortunately and unexpectedly died. This happened on May 19th, a few days later (say May 21st) I called and spoke with the manager and explained my Dads passing and unfortunately I would now need those future appointments cancelled and requested a refund because I would now need to pay for his final expenses. It's now August and I still don't have my refund, not only do I not have a refund, they're billing me because they said I owed the for a root canal that my insurance didn't cover. I have excellent insurance, so I called my insurance and they told me they rejected Aspens claim for one tooth (#9) because Aspen failed to explain the reason for the root canal. I called Aspen back, I relayed the information and the manager told me they would file an appeal and that it would take about 30 days. That conversation happened early July, now that it's August, I called my insurance to see if there was a reply to Aspen's appeal and my insurance said they never received an appeal from Aspen. They went on to tell me the appeals are usually received within 2 days and they'll have a response within 10 days. I've now been calling Aspen over and over to verify why they never filed the appeal, but the manager never takes my calls and she no longer returns my calls. I've asked to speak with the managers boss (Laura) but I haven't gotten a call from her either. I feel bad for the front desk person because they have to deal with my daily calls. I'm sorry, but for this matter to have originated back in May 2020 and now it's August 2020 and it still hasn't been resolved??? There's a deeper issue here! read more

Chose this place because it was close and expected professionalism. The people were nice but they backwards as all get out! I was given one quote and then called back only to learn they entered the wrong code so we had to pay an additional $900+!! Of course because needed to see the oral surgeon it all to be paid on spot. Any other place we've tried to accommodate because the fault was there's but no! Then they gave a temporary flipper but it doesn't fit properly and they can't see him cause they're booked. When a person has surgery you'd think they would do a visit 5-7 days to check healing. This place is barely doing basic work and if you're a patient with them save your monies. Go somewhere else and have it done right the first time even if you have to pay more. If not, you'll have to pay twice if you continuing going here. read more

I have been to many dentists and this was by far the absolute best experience I have ever had! I had an emergency appointment on a Saturday to remove a broken tooth. I encountered a helpful, knowledgeable, and understanding staff. The dentist was wonderful and listened to all of my questions and concerns. We went over options tailored for me and I didn't feel pressured in any decisions. We chose dentures and within the past month, I now have a full set at a great price. However, the best part is the service I received from absolutely everyone in the practice from the scheduling of appointments to the process of removing all my teeth. If I could give zero stars I would. They are just horrible. They always want you to sign up for their financial services. I learned now that I had the horrible experience with them. That when you are looking for a new dentist you don't ask them to take my insurance. You ask them are you in network with my insurance. I that I was scammed by Aspen dental. I have seen so many videos on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and even TikTok. The last time I went to them was 2 years ago in December. I had my appointment scheduled for a root canal. When I got there they said they had to take more x-rays and magically I needed another root canal on the tooth behind the one they were going to work on. I actually cried in the dentist chair. First because I knew how expensive it was going to be second because I hate the dentist and I knew it was going to hurt. And it did hurt. When I called to schedule my next appointment they told me again that I need to have a root canal done on the last tooth, the funny thing is I had just had that root canal done so they wanted to reroot canal a tooth that already had a root canal. I don't understand they're scamming business it's ridiculous. I would never ever recommend them to my worst enemy. read more

The male dentist was an absolute jerk. I gave everyone before my appointment warning that I have severe anxiety. All said the staff I spoke with said I was going to be handled with care and I believed that. All was fine up until the Dr came in. He truly made me uncomfortable as a woman. He was extremely stand-off ish towards me. And super judgmental; of both my teeth and my financial situation.If my boyfriend wasn't in the room with me I probably would have ran out. I understand you're the doctor who knows everything; but there are nicer ways to treat people. Dana and Lauren saved the day with being kind to me. read more

Stay away from this place. They discuss personnel matters in front patients. I got to listen to the dentist and assistant talk about how they fired someone earlier. I did let the office manager knew about that ( Funny She no longer works here nor does the dentist). Also I was lied to about a partial cost. The same partial that they took 3 separate impressions to do and as of today it still doesnt fit in my mouth. When I started questioning the process I was told to pay another $1000 for a scan for a while new one. I HAVE NEVER HAD ONE THAT WORK AT THIS POINT AND NOW THEY WANT MORE MONEY FOR A WHOLE NEW ONE. This company has no clue how to process insurance claims and will process the entire procedure, even if it will be months between parts of the procedure. If they submit it incorrectly to the insurance company, they try and hold you responsible for the part the insurance company will not pay, even if you hand them the EOB and instructions. Months of trying to get my money back saying the claim is still open on their end with the insurance company and will not refund until closed. IT IS NOT THEIR MONEY TO HOLD. On top of that I am being charged interest on CareCredit because I cannot get MY money back. For me it was an implant procedure - they charged me upfront for the entire procedure (trying to force you to stay with them for the whole process, even if you didn't like the care). They charged for items without explaining that they would not be covered by insurance and are consistently telling me that they are escalating it on their end but expect 30 to 45 days for the insurance to process - this has been going on for almost 5 months now. Stay far away from this place. The whole process was much like buying a used car. Their treatment plan includes a $150 toothbrush and they over exaggerate the work needed. Honestly if I could give them zero stars I would. Coming to this dentist office has been one of the worst decisions I have ever made. The staff might be nice, but everything else I have experienced has been negative. To make a long story short: they over book themselves so appointments take twice as long as they should, they nearly force expensive unnecessary equipment on you, they lie, and constantly reschedule set appointments and make treatment take longer. My boyfriend and I came because he had cracked his tooth and needed to have it pulled. He also hadn't been to the dentist in a while. After they exam we were told that, as we assumed, the tooth had to be pulled. He also had the beginnings of gum disease and 10 cavities. They briefly tell us the price and later we find out that includes an unnecessarliy expensive toothbrush and other things we weren't told about beforehand. They decided to do the extraction and a deep cleaning. We were there from 8am until 2pm for them to pull a tooth and clean his teeth. We set up 3 appointments for his fillings, the following 3 Thursdays. The first two went off (mostly) without a hitch, other than the fact that we were there for 2.5 hours each time. They filled 3 teeth at each appointment. They would numb his mouth and leave for 40 minutes or more, so long the anesthetic would wear off and they would have to redo it before starting. At the second appointment they rescheduled the third to the following week. Fine, we come for that one, another 2.5 hour appointment. As we are leaving they call us over to make another appointment because oh, actually he has 12 fillings, they lied to us the first day so we have to come back again. Today was that appointment. We drove all the way there, waited in the waiting room for 15 minutes before they called us up and said "Oh no, we are running super behind today, there is no way we can get to you today. We will have to reschedule." Instead of noticing this earlier and calling us to reschedule we had to drive all the way there so we can drive all the way back home? AND NOW WE HAVE TO COME BACK AGAIN NEXT WEEK? Terrible experience. If you can't handle this many patients, don't schedule that many appointments in a day. read more

MOST ridiculous dentist office. They over book, reschedule you without telling you, kept running out on my husbands cleaning to fix someone else. He was there for five hours! For me it was much worst they forgot to give me the main forms or let me know we needed a driver to stay for teeth extraction. Pretty important don't you think! I wish I had read these reviews first before going to Aspen. I had the same exact experience at their testimony say. The dentist there at site told me he was going to save my tooth that had a crack in it. The day that I went in and he says nope I can't say that I have to pull it. I had a ton of X-rays done and a visitation about my cracked tooth. He never even looked at my tooth, just told me he could save it. I come in for my appointment to have my tooth fixed and ended up having a horrific experience of 40 minutes of him trying to pull it out of my mouth. I just sat there in complete shock crying. It's also like a hard-core sales office they tell me that I don't need these things and they tell me I need these things and they're jacking up the prices on stuff and they're adding stuff that I don't need even need. They charged me for $135 toothbrush that I never got. The other reviews said the something happened to them. They added all kinds of charges on my care credit card. Things that I never had done and I'm not having done and told them I'm not having done. And now I'm waiting for them to get the charges off because they charged over $3200.00 in charges on my care credit card. Now which is all reflecting on my credit report which is ultimately currently reducing my credit score right now by 27 points. So not only was it a terrible dental experience but they're ruining my credit with these charges that they put on my credit card for work that I told them I wasn't having done. Don't go to this place. The front office staff are nice but you get lured into a pit of hell. Run! Update: now that the swelling has gone down I've discovered there is a shard of my old tooth left in my mouth sticking through my gum. It's very sharp. I don't know what to do. On 11/30, I set myself up as a new patient online and booked a check-up for Sat 12/13. I had received both a text and email asking to confirm my appointment for the 13th, which I did. Got a call on Tue (8th), saying they know I have an appointment for Sat, but had time today if I was available (which I wasn't) - fine so far. However today, Fri 12/11, a girl calls me from the office to confirm my appointment for Saturday - okay, annoying, but said yes. She asked what I was coming in for - really?!?! At this point, I just lost it a bit. I asked why she did not know this - she said she didn't know who I talked to, but they don't have the info. I told her I made it online, and not only is it on the form I filled out, but had to select it when making the appointment. Why do you not know this - no answer. So, I tell her it's for a check-up - she then tells me the hygienist isn't in on Saturdays, only the doctor. Are you freaking kidding me right now? I told her this is unreal to me, to go ahead and cancel and that I am done. She said okay and hung up. AWFUL!!! read more
