My parents just moved to Ann Arbor and they've been looking for a new dentist and luckily (for…read morethem) I had a few cavities that needed fillings so I had the honor of being their guinea pig trying out a new practice. Every interaction I have had with Dr. Greashaber's practice has been pleasant and seamless. Making an appointment was easy, the paperwork was easy, the front desk staff & dental hygienists are nice, and Dr. Greashaber is professional but warm and kind. I had a slightly bad reaction to the anesthesia (just jittery from the epinephrine) and he was so comforting. Further, he said that a few of my fillings that he was going to do on a subsequent visit were surface-level enough where I could avoid anesthesia on those. As I was leaving, he noted that once the anesthesia wore off I could expect a few days of gum soreness and pain. Well, guess what...nothing! It's crazy, the numbness was the worst part of it all. I had my appointment this morning and I feel nothing at all. Not sure if that's due to Dr. Greashaber or pure luck, but either way I can't complain! All in all, I think my parents have found their new practice!

The most competent you will find. Never willing to settle for "good enough." Plus, a super nice guy who makes an extreme effort to truly know all of his patients. His dental assistant Stacey, and his office manager and receptionist, Laura, are both exceptionally competent, cordial and efficient. The best team and the best dental practice you will find!

The psych clinic can be that much-needed Schwarzenegger who will protect you and pump. you. up. so you can continue to protect yourself. The protocol goes something like this: You first call to schedule a consultation appointment. You will more than likely talk to John who is down to earth, calming, and professional. The consultation consists of filling out a bunch of paperwork and a 300+ question survey which helps them determine your mental health needs and to match you with a person who is best suited for those. This is pretty stress-free and involves you touching a touch-screen a bunch of times while reflecting on all the crappy stuff going on in your life for the past month. This little jaunt down memory lane will cost you $40. After that, it takes usually about three weeks to schedule your first appointment but once you're in, getting weekly appointments is easy peasy. If you have BCN grad care, your co-pay is about $20 which is glorious compared to the $150+ per hour you'd be paying out of pocket. My experiences here have been almost all positive. The therapists are generally grad or post-grad students who are doing their 'residency' at U of M. The good news is: 1) they're usually young and inspired, ready to make a difference in the world, really wanting to learn from you and be there for you 2) as a grad student, they are more or less your peers, which makes talking about "young adult" stuff comfortable and relatable 3) since they're at U of M you know they're they're at the top, if not near the top, of their field The bad news is 1) most of them leave after about a year which means if you want stable long-term therapy, you will need to get a new therapist (the upshot to this? you can try out different therapists without feeling guilty about ditching your last one) 2) since they are students, they may not have as much experience as more seasoned veterans 3) there is only one psychiatrist on staff, getting an appointment with her is hard, and I didn't have the best rapport with her (I got the sense she was a little judgmental and she was quick to pile on various medications without talking about other supplements or life changes) As a person who is generally very DIY about taking care of myself, stubborn, and always wanting to stress my independence and self-reliance, this was a surprisingly beneficial and comforting outlet for when life was just too much to handle. So if you're feeling worn out, bummed out, wounded, or pissed off, the staff here will give you a bandage, kiss your boo-boo, and teach your how to fight gravity. Affordable. Effective. Empowering. If you're even flirting with the idea of talking to someone and getting support, this is a fantastic place for a first-timer (even if you might be resistant to the whole "therapy" idea).

The neurosurgeon who performed carotid endarterectomy... top notch…read more The care and experience goes downhill from there. It's sad that the best thing about this surgical experience is the cafeteria on the second floor. This hospital has seen better days and needs some updating badly. The bathrooms, disgusting. The elevators, too slow to even attempt to wait. It took 3 days to figure out how to get around this place, directions are confusing at best. Good luck figuring out what elevator bank to take to another elevator bank to get to another wing, etc. When I asked staff for directions, I swear they gave me the wrong directions on purpose. Parking is a horrifying experience, and I'm not one to let anyone valet park my Jeep. Extremely under-estimated the number of parking spaces they would need or the hospital has expanded way beyond the parking. The communication from the time leading up to pre-op, to pre-op, post op, during the hospital stay in ICU and a regular room, to discharge was sadly inconsistent. One nurse in ICU, extremely nice. The next shift nurse needed to not only be smacked but fired. So much conflicting information was given on the diagnosis and the steps that would be taken all the way thru recovery was bad enough to cause emotional distress. Discharge estimate - way off and there were no complications. The hospital needs to figure out a way to get consistent communication going. I was told I would be awake for my surgery, then told I would be put under and my brain would be frozen and monitored via computer and I would be on a nasal oxygen tube, then told no my brain wasn't going to be frozen but I would be put under and my brain 'shut-down' and monitored via computer and that I would be intubated. That is way too much discrepancy in communication. Recovery instructions were ALL over the place. A cocktail of drugs was thrown at me with no consideration for what I really needed or how the drugs would interact to make me nauseous. Dosing changes were not communicated between shifts, how does this happen when it's put into a computer tracking system? Would I go to another hospital next time? Maybe. I haven't decided yet. I haven't been through the billing experience yet so maybe that will tip my decision. I do understand the very best doctors are at U of M, maybe that is all that is important. I'm not sure yet. You should weight all doctors and hospitals before you have a procedure as important as mine was before you decide. Get word of mouth referals from real people who have been through what you are about to go through. Don't depend on your insurance company referrals or even your general doctor. I hate to say it but our medical system is completely broke, you have to advocate for yourself. You have to take a deep dive and do your due diligence. I feel sorry for the elderly who can't do this for themselves and might not have anyone to help them.
