If it's dark, AVOID AVOID AVOID! Hell, if it's daytime, AVOID AVOID AVOID! For the person just traveling through Jacksonville, this may seem like a good place to stop for gas because they do have decent prices and it's just off of I-95 which makes it very convenient. However, you will be approached by at least one person (possibly more) asking for money, cigarettes, etc. It's also a high crime area.
We popped by here just to grab a soda during the daytime. A woman, who appeared to be on crack (no, I'm not kidding), approached us as we were walking into the store and asked my husband for money. I kinda have this philosophy that if you have money to buy crack, then you don't need money from me. Anyway, she just persisted and persisted as we walked into the store. It was a mute point anyway because we very rarely keep cash on us. We use our cards for everything.
As we left the store, she was sitting on the curb by our car. We both got in the car and as I was fastening my seatbelt, she started tapping on my window and then pointing at my soda while yelling, "I'm thirsty, gimmie some of that soda!" OMG! Really?!?!
So, if that happens in broad daylight, I can only image what happens at night.
