Bayside Jet Drive Canvas & Upholstery…read more I already knew that the crew of Bayside Jet Drive Canvas & Upholstery did good canvas work when they made a perfect-fit Bimini top cover for my pontoon boat. This year, after the sun had taken its toll on the 13 year old seams of the boat's upholstery, it desperately needed maintenance. I visited J.R. at Bayside Jet Drive Canvas & Upholstery in their new shop in Showell, MD to see what could be done for my upholstery. They considered my photos and a sample seat cushion, and suggested that I bring my boat into their shop so that they could make a more complete estimate. I told them that I had no trailer and that the boat was due to shortly be picked up by a local marina for winter storage. J.R. not only offered to bring the boat to their shop on their trailer for an estimate, but then to deliver it to my marina for storage when they were finished. They gave me a reasonable estimate to reupholster the damaged seats. Then they scheduled and completed the upholstery in a few weeks. It looks great. They also coordinated with the marina and delivered the boat for its winter maintenance and storage. I am impressed. The upholstery material they used is premium quality, sun resistant, and little of the new stitching is where it will not be exposed to direct sunshine. It looks better that when I first bought the boat. I am thrilled with the appearance and workmanship demonstrated by Bayside Jet Drive Canvas & Upholstery.

Eric and his team including Sherri, DJ and John and all the other amazing staff members take the time to answer questions, offer training and guidance and offer the best technical jet boat advice. I've bought two Yamaha Jet boats from them in recent years (19ft and 25ft) and both purchases went without any problems even during the trying COVID times when boats were very hard to come by. Their no pressure sales, honest selling, complete transparency and fair prices will have me coming back. Service and parts departments are both excellent and for me, a newbie at jet boats, with tons of questions (mostly stupid but a few tough ones), they have ALWAYS taken the time and patience to give me expert advice and guidance. There was even a time, the weekend soon after I took delivery of my 2021 252SD in the cold winter months during the NFL playoffs Eric took the time to remotely help me on a SUNDAY when I was struggling to get the shipping cover on my new boat and could not get it to properly fit. Eric took the time, away from watching his team in the playoffs to answer my emails and guide me remotely as best he could. He even had his staff follow up with me the next day to make sure the cover was on and the boat protected from the winter weather. This experience spoke volumes to me. I felt horrible bothering Eric and his staff on a Sunday (their day off and family time) but I was in a jam and Eric and his staff took the time to respond in detail. That is how much he and his staff care about their clients. Minor problems will happen with boats but Eric and his entire team step up, stand behind their products, advocate with Yamaha on behalf of their clients, and help diagnose and fix the problem in a very timely manner. I'm actually a few hours from their dealership location so while I've bought my two boats from them I haven't yet used them for service. I've done some minor service on my own and when I've had questions they have gladly helped me at all times. One last thing.... As a newbie with a family of five we bought a 19ft first to get our feet wet and see if our family loved boating. Several months in and we decided yes we loved boating and that we actually wanted to upgrade from a 19ft to a 25ft. We called Eric and discussed our options. He was honest and told us don't trade the 19 ft boat in, he advised us to sell it privately and given COVID we were very fortunate to recoup what we paid for the 19ft boat. Again Eric who could have taken the boat on trade in and made some profit on it, instead gave us honest advice once again putting the client first. We followed Eric's advice and sold our boat in a few days privately and bought our new 25ft from Bayside Jet Drive. It was delivered a few months later even with Yamaha's COVID production delays and we love it!!! I have nothing but 5 star positive comments for Bayside Jet Drive in Berlin, MD. Give them a call if you need a boat, service or parts and give them a chance to earn your business. You will not be disappointed. Eric and the entire team: thank you VERY MUCH from our entire family.

1 Star - Absolutely Awful Experience…read more Island Water Sports gave us one of the worst customer service experiences we've ever had. As we were pulling into the dock -- after being stuck in torrential downpours all day because they refused to offer a rain check unless there was thunder -- a staff member started shouting at us, "I hope you have insurance! You've damaged my ladder!" The swim ladder had accidentally been left down, but it was already damaged when we took the boat out. Even after staff inside the office confirmed the damage had been noted earlier, the dockhand, Mike, continued to accuse us and treated us like we had done something wrong. They made us stay in the boat while they took pictures and called it in to the office, repeatedly telling us we were going to have to pay for it. When we were finally allowed off, some of our group went to use the bathroom and were stopped on their way back by another employee, who told them they "weren't allowed to leave." It felt like we were being detained -- over a broken ladder we didn't even damage. At one point I told Mike how rude and unprofessional he was -- and no, I wasn't calm about it. I had every right to speak up after the way we were being treated. Instead of diffusing the situation, he came back at me, even more defensive and condescending. It wasn't until after they embarrassed us and treated us like criminals in front of other guests that we finally got a weak apology. Then, as if that wasn't enough, they actually complained that there was mud on the floorboard from the anchor -- because it had touched the wet deck. First of all, don't they wash the boats down anyway? And second, it was pouring rain all day -- what exactly did they expect? We didn't even complain about the miserable weather -- we paid in full and left without so much as a "Sorry the weather didn't cooperate" or "Hope you still had a good time." Just attitude and accusations. We've rented from other marinas in the area and always had a great experience. Island Water Sports was by far the worst -- rude, accusatory, and completely lacking in basic customer service. I would never rent from them again and absolutely do not recommend them to anyone!

Staff was friendly and courteous when we arrived, and the boat was in tip-top shape. The one-star knock is because they did not have a restroom available for us before our trip, which meant we had to leave the premises for a Royal Farms, then return. Granted we didn't lose a lot of time, but a restroom for clients, even if it's a porta potty, I feel is a necessity.
