I've dined in at Raagini a few times and gotten take out. Dining in here is a very good experience because their restaurant is decorated with very colorful ceiling lamps, wall lights, and various art pieces as well as relaxing saxophone music. I've tried their Tandoori chicken wings/jerk wing appetizer as well as the main dish. I prefer the appetizer because it is more juicy. The menu says it comes with 6 pieces and it only comes with 5 pieces. We asked about it and were told that the menu said it wrong. The wings are delicious if you're willing to pay 2 bucks a piece after expecting 6 pieces. We also tried the vegetable samosas which were very fresh. They are filled with spicy potatoes and peas. The outside is crisp. My absolute favorite thing from here is their coconut lemon rice. It comes with tumeric and roasted peanuts. Its so delicious. It is $10 per bowl and I get this every time. Their lamb jhalfrezi curry is very good. The lamb is super soft and the strong flavor of lamb is masked by the masala sauce. This comes with a bowl of rice. Another dish that was really good from here is their rogan josh. This is a leg of lamb with Kashmiri style sauce. Bring your own tissues if your nose will run when you eat spicy food! There aren't napkins. When I came here, an older couple next to us had to run outside to grab a box of Kleenex. There is some street parking available, but there's a large parking lot across the street and you can just park there. read more

Was introduced to Raagini by Tom C. and attended a group dinner last night with 10 friendly and hungry folks run by La, our host for the event. It stands out on Atlantic Ave in Baldwin with all the outside lighting and big sign. Because parking is non existant on the south side of Atlantic we had to park across the street in the strip mall parking lot. After playing car tag with the speeding vehicles, Bonnie G. and I did our best to not get hit and made it safely to the other side. It was worth the effort! Raagini is a cozy Indian restaurant that is brightly decorated and a comfortable place to meet and greet before an outstanding meal. The BYOB is supported with wine glasses placed on the table and is a tremendous plus when figuring the final bill.... Bonnie and I shared a Samosa Chaat which looked great and tasted better! They place a gratis basket of seasoned crisps on the table an cups of chutney to dip it in...was good! For mains we ordered Goat Jalfrezi spicy...Delicious... Bonnie G. got the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was the best she had ever had! Others in the group ordered Lamb Jalfrezi, Chicken Korma, Lamb Rogan Josh, Bombay Crab Cakes, Shrimp Korma, Jaffrani Pilaf, Veggy Jalfrezi, Mushroom Saag, goat Vindaloo and Tandoori Shrimp. The great food was supported by great service...food came with good timing and staff was pleasant. And Basmati Rice came with our entres....no extra charge All the dishes looked terrific and everyone complimented the preparation and presentation, We had plenty of vino to compliment the food so a great time was had by all...We will all be returning to this gem in the near future to enjoy more perfectly prepared ethnic dishes!!! read more

I don't live locally and he patiently waited until I was here again to come back and give Raagini another try. I'm very glad I did. This time: the butter chicken was excellent! Plenty of chicken and delicious sauce with a good amount of heat (medium spice was plenty, boo found it a bit hot but I liked it). I live nearby and really want to like this place. But their food is just disappointing. My husband and I are huge fans of Indian food. We moved from Queens where there is an abundance of authentic places. So we were excited about Raagini at first. So we have eaten at Raagini once in person and ordered take out 3-4 times. Eating in person the food was a lot better than take out. Idk why but the quality of take out is so low, I don't want to eat here again. This past Friday we ordered sag paneer (super watery, tasted like frozen spinach reheated with cream). And it gave me an upset stomach. My husband had the lamb curry and it was ok but so expensive for the portion for $17. They give you one container of rice to share instead of each curry having its own rice. Super skimpy. They don't provide any sauces either. Bread is very expensive and bland. Will not order from here again unfortunately. read more

Raagini serves above average authentic Indian cuisine. You can customize your meals depending on your tolerance for the spicier spices. I had the chicken tikka masala with rice and a variety of different naans. My buddies had the lamb vindaloo, butter chicken, Rogan Josh, and the lamb biryani and washed it down with Kingfisher and Taj Mahal beers. Despite overindulging we left enough space and ended the night with gulab jamun, ras malai and rice pudding. The decor of the place was simple and the service was great. I want to start of with noting that I have had curry before and lamb before. I had high hopes for this place since it had great reviews. The place is a bit pricy but I hoped the food would taste great. Unfortunately the curry had no flavor, the meat tasted rough. As for the lamb it was extremely hard to eat and unseasoned. I'm used to lamb being so easy to eat like in halal food or other places. The garlic naan tasted like regular bread nothing special. I ended up eating the rice and bread since I couldn't get past the tough meat and tastelessness. My boyfriend was also completely disappointed. My wife and I came here for dinner on a rainy Tuesday night. There were only two other customers in the dining room. We were greeted and seated right away. We have been here a few times before and always had a great experience. We ordered a mango lassi to share. Very nice and was a nice start. My wife ordered lamb korma and I ordered kadai chicken. Both dishes were delicious! Staff was very nice and professional, especially Vijay our waiter. He was very friendly and attentive. A very good dining experience. This was our first time here and we decided to try it since they were very well rated. Small intimate place, upon parking we went to the wrong door since they have two doors but one is not marked that it is not the entry door so we assumed they were closed and almost left until the waiter came running out to let us know they weren't open. I do suggest putting a note on the door to use the other door like other businesses do. Anyway, husband and I ordered The samosas to start which I think he could've eaten 10 if we would've gotten more!, Havi ordered chicken tandoori and I the chicken korma with a side of Nan and rice. the place is very nicely decorated, our order was taken immediately, the waiter was very attentive and the food was delicious. Delicious food. This is some of the best Indian food outside of Queens. We enjoy the quality and the food is all spiced and prepared properly. It's also not too greasy which is a problem at other Indian restaurants I've tried in Nassau County. Thank you for doing a good job with the takeout during COVID. The tamper evident tape on the bag is a nice touch too. It would be nice if your basmati rice had even a few specs of saffron for color and subtle flavor. I have passed by Raagini several times over the years but never went in. On Fri I finally decided to try it and on Sunday I was back again! I had the Korma shrimp curry both times, the Naan is fresh and great too. The service we received from Raj was also on point. However, my two older kids went away to college, and they became more adventurous in their eating habits, and they have asked us to order it when they were home on a break. The menu is vast, and it helps that there were descriptions next to each group of dishes, making it easier to choose. We have tried chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and chicken korma. My personal favorite is chicken korma and my kids love the other two. Don't forget to order garlic naan, it's the bomb. Raagini is the original location and in a few years they have opened 2 other locations in the area, Color of Spices in Rockville Center, along with Tandoor Grill in Long Beach. That statement alone let's you know that Raagini is the real deal and seriously serving up some amazing food. Raagini has amazing service, they are always happy to explain the menu and help you out. The last time I dined in with a few friends they even modified the recipe of a few dishes because of a food allergy. Which really shows they are willing to go above and beyond to not only please , but also help out their customers. Raagini is a very clean restaurant with some awesome decor. Inside it has such a warm and the feel of being in an Indian themed palace. It's also BYOB and they are more than happy to provide you with a glass. Once again amazing service. Also always quick whether your dining in or taking out. The service is top notch but the food is really where the magic comes from. You basically can't go wrong. They make so many different curries and it'll be tough to find one you like most. They are all delicious and amazing in their own ways. I can't pick one curry which is my favorite, all depends on my mood. I like ordering the bread basket to enjoy the curries with or one of my go to dishes Chicken tikka masala. Ordered food over the phone for pickup. Went to pickup, I gave my name and the man gave me my total. I paid with an Apple Card, he used it and handed it back to me saying "they don't accept Apple Pay". I said it's not Apple Pay it's an Apple MasterCard. Again he said the card didn't work and asked me to use another form of payment. LUCKILY i got the alert on my iPhone that my credit card was charged to Raagini for $82.xx. Imagine if I paid with another card, I would have paid twice. Please get a more competent staff, it was rude and uncalled for, other customers were standing right there. Big disappointment - 1 and done! As someone who is half Indian and knows her way around Indian food, this place fell short, way short. My husband and I went on a Friday night and should have known something was up as there wasn't a soul in the restaurant. Ordered pakoras and samosas for appetizer. The pakoras were anemic in flavor and portion. Samosas were ok. The condiments, green chutney and tamarind were like water and came in tiny cups where we had to ask for more 3 times, you would think the guy would just bring a proper serving. Prices were high for location/abiance /food quality. Ordered Shrimp curry and waiter asked mild/medium/spicy - I asked for spicy. Also ordered vegetable jalfrezi and pouri and lacha paratha. Both entrees lacked ANY spice, had to ask for some chili paste. Breads were not good. An expensive, bland meal in a lame setting. Won't be returning. read more

I often feel bad for places with 4.5-5 star reviews bc the expectations are set pretty high, but I'm happy to say that Raagini deserves its high marks. The place itself is pretty tiny, but the tables are spaced well, so you're not right on top of others. Def not a place for groups over 4 though. The service was excellent and didn't rush to get us out of there even when we stayed past 3pm (when they technically close). An order of naan, chana pindi, aloo gobi masal (both $11) was simple and delicious. Nothing too fancy, just food prepared well. Each dish is served in metal bowls that are deceivingly small, but don't stress, they have enough in them to fill you up. I also have to give them props for not stealing lappy 5000 after I left it in the restaurant. They didn't "lose it" they kept it nice and warm for me right in the front. Kudos! While it's not quite up to New Chili & Curry (Hicksville) levels yet, Raagini is a solid place and will be home to many more visits from yours truly when I need my Indian fix. read more

Raagini is one of the best Indian restaurants in Nassau County up there with New Chili & Curry (in Hicksville) as one of the best on Long Island. For starters, we split the vegetable appetizer platter. This is a great choice to split between two or three people. It gives you the chance to try four different appetizers and none of which are overwhelming spicy so anyone should enjoy it. For my main course, I had the lamb jalfrezi. It's an extremely tasteful dish with a slight kick. It was great over a bed of the basmati rice. For dessert, we split the rasmalai. For those who don't know much about Indian food, rasmalai consists of small premature cheese balls (which have a consistency similar to tofu cake) which are immersed in cold creamy milk topped with nuts. It provides a pleasant neutralizer after a slice filled meal. The service here is attentive and friendly. I highly recommend Raagini for Indian food on the south shore. ALWAYS on point. I go maybe once a month now that I've discovered this hidden little gem. I've been passing it by for years, but since it's in a strip of fast food sort of shops, I've never looked at it twice. Until I was craving something different and away from the drab norm of Long Island favorites (Italian, Chinese, sushi..). This place is so cute on the inside- maybe about 12 tables in all, very quaint and private...you're in an intimate environment, but not on top of eachother. The waiters and cooks are super nice and welcoming and always ask (multiple times) if the spice level is ok for you. My favorite is the chicken acchari curry- medium spice..and I'm just a little white girl with sensitive taste buds- so I'm telling you, this dish is the bomb dot com.
