As my job was discussed and created, work items were listed and priced individually. When I added and removed items they displayed appropriately as a refund credit or additional charge immediately. The time frame proposed in the beginning was a guess-estimate I understand because one has to dig into a project to truly see what it will take. But no, my rooms were not completed in a timely manner. Schedules were pushed out, but I will state that there were a few times I was contacted and offered someone to come over to complete a trade earlier than scheduled. I made sure to have most of the needed materials already at my home so there would be no time issues when on site. (I purchased some items independently). Honestly, the time sucked. The various tradesmen were polite and knowledgeable. The men prepped my home's entryway and paths to each workroom protecting all surfaces. I had no debris left or scuffed flooring. They showed up, completed their job and left my home clean. Holtzman's web portal was easy for me to access and use. All details about my project were available to be viewed at any time. I communicated with customer service, my appointed designer, and my supervisor through emails, phone calls, in person and texts. The sales rep was very difficult to reach once my project contract was signed, but my supervisor, Will Stubblefield, supported me through every question I had throughout the whole process. His time and work was genuine and appreciated. He made sure that each phase of the project was completed to my satisfaction and when the schedule was ridiculously pushed back, he stepped in on a couple weekends and completed some work himself. Will responded to each of my questions patiently as I had many being this my first project. If I have more projects, I will request Will to manage it. He secured my confidence that Holtzman Home Improvement would complete the job and have it done well.

An absolute nightmare experience for what should have been a simple kitchen cabinet and kitchen…read moreappliance project. The Holtzman salesperson will tell you what you want to hear to get you to sign, and then (eventually) when the project starts, you'll hear something different from the project manager. When our project started, one of the first things we heard from the project manager was "I'm sorry, but he (the salesperson) shouldn't have told you that." Communication from the company was very poor. The project manager did not reach out with any proactive updates, instead I had to call / text regularly to find out what was happening and when. The usual response to my questions was "I don't know, I'll have to get back to you." They have an online schedule portal, but it was not updated by the project managers (we had 4 different project managers throughout the project), so the portal was practically useless. There were many delays and missed dates from Holtzman, there were surprise up-charges and items they forgot to order (causing more delays), but the real difficult part was the lack of communication. Not knowing what's going on is really unsettling when you've trusted someone with this type of project. The kitchen came out looking great. The people that come to the house to do the work are nice and friendly, and generally do good work. But the communication and lack of accountability from the company is embarrassing. If my name were on this company, I would take more pride in the work and try to improve how they treat customers. I would strongly advise anyone to go with another company and save yourself months of delays and many headaches from dealing with Holtzman.

I had a 41 year-old wooden deck (pic attached) that was decayed and falling apart to the extent…read morethat you could no longer walk on it. I had dreaded getting the deck replaced because I just didn't want to deal with going thru the work and aggravation. I called a few construction contractors and while 2 never responded, others just gave me a quote to remove the old deck, but never took the time to actually talk or listen to me. Then Alex Halliday, owner of Liberty Remodeling LLC. actually called me after receiving the pic thru Yelp, and set up a time to visit and see all that needed to be done and also what I wanted to do. Alex came when scheduled and listened to what I wanted to do (remove old deck & replace with two covered patios on each side of the existing patio). He was great at making suggestions and asking questions, and showing me pictures to be sure of want I wanted done. His estimates were given and were exactly what was charged. He never changed the amounts and he wrote up detailed contracts for the work. It was 2 1/2 weeks to build the two new patios, lay down the pavers, and I ended up painting the entire house, instead of just the new covered patios (pics attached ). The work was so great, it looks like the patios were part of the original house and not additions. I can't say enough good things about Alex, John (his brother), and the construction crew (Julian and Amador), the pavers, and the painters. Alex did all the scheduling for each crew to come in once each part was completed. He updated me daily on when each crew would be at my house, and at what time. Alex was there as each crew arrived to go over exactly what was going to be done. He or John were there to make sure everything was done as agreed. Then at the end, a final inspection was done with plenty of attention on every detail. My home looks beautiful and the job was completed with no stress. Alex and John Halliday are truly great people to work with, I wouldn't call anyone else!

Things I regret about working with RW:…read more Not researching a company that was purchased by a person with no construction experience, but who promised the best quality workmanship, reasonable cost, and clear communication. Not recognizing a huge red flag when being asked for a large advance payment outside the contracted payment schedule before the work was completed. Not paying more attention at the showroom, which should have been a giveaway--basic design, broken cabinets, sloppy paint lines, and no real sense of quality or style. Not pivoting as different subcontractors rotated through, many barely showing up, some openly complaining about their employer, and when communication, planning, and attention to detail became nearly nonexistent. Not writing a review sooner when at the end there was no final walk through, thank you, or handshake, likely because my expensive remodel still needs a qualified contractor to fix. The photos don't lie, the quality is bad, but more importantly, so was the experience.

We had to go twice because the tile we picked the first time was not in stock anymore, but no biggie. The project manager kept us informed throughout the entire process, from when they will start to when they'd be done. The use of the BuilderTrend site was extremely easy and allowed us to communicate effectively and pay invoices easily. Every day they were on site they kept the work area clean and protected the walk ways they'd be using throughout the home. They always let us know when they'd be back next; they were always on time. I'd certainly recommend them to anyone looking to remodel their home. I'm satisfied with the price we paid. We received several quotes and as anyone should tell you, cheaper is not always better. They weren't the cheapest nor the most expensive however, I went with them because they were the only company that made it clear that in some cases they may choose to not do business with a customer. They showed up Saturday morning as promised and called when they were on their way, took some measurements and ran to Home Depot or Lowe's to pick up materials after assessing what needed to be done. they also caulked all the work they did as well as some other areas that they noticed in need of caulk. We replaced…read morethe flooring, painted the entire house, updated bathrooms, put in a new fireplace, updated pantry and closets, and did a complete kitchen remodel. The kitchen required removing a wall to open up the closed dark kitchen and adding an oversized bar. Eric was extremely timely and professional in getting us a comprehensive quote. He was also extremely affordable as well. He started work right away and did a phenomenal job. We gave him pictures of what we wanted for the kitchen and fireplace, and he replicated the style to a T - which most contractors can't do without a designer helping them. He also was able to design and order custom cabinets for our pantry. Eric was extremely detail oriented throughout the process, checking in with us as needed for style and safety decisions, and always updated us on cost or possible delays. He also was insanely knowledgable about every area of construction such as dry wall, plumbing, electrical, fabrication, flooring, tiling, etc. This guy really is a one man show - he can do it all. Eric did have a few subcontractors help him with the job and they were always fantastic to work with as well. He knows quality workmanship and partnership. He finished the job in a timely timeframe and our home is gorgeous and the workmanship is quality - for a great price. If you need any renovations done, Eric with E.L. Construction is the way to go.
