My new favorite salon! I searched Yelp for a Salon with great reviews and who could get me in the same day as I am impulsive. I sent R Salon a message and Anthony, the owner, responded immediately with openings. One for the the same day which was a Saturday. He also let me know they could take me earlier so I was on my way to Clearwater! Immediately upon entering the salon, I felt so at ease. Anthony was there to greet me and introduced me to Jenna who was going to be my hair goddess. She was awesome! So friendly and personable. She also did an AMAZING job on my hair and did exactly what I wanted. A few caramel highlights in my Wednesday dark hair. She offered wine and of course I couldn't say no. So I sat in my chair waiting for the color to develop, drinking good wine, in great company with the staff and other salon patrons. It was like happy hour in the middle of the day. Jenna did it right, she didn't take any shortcuts. My hair does not develop blonde quickly, but she worked well with it. She was patient and professional. I LOVE the color. And she was able to correct my bad bang job from my previous haircut. I Love my hair! I can't wait to come back here! Parking is super easy, pull into McDonald's and then park in front of building B. You will see the salon on the first floor to the left. It is super easy to find. There is a woman who comes here everyday, and she is the sweetest lady ever. It's located in the building behind McDonald's, it's not your usual strip mall type place. It's in a nice office type building. The place is spacious, clean, has a fun vibe with little sayings around like be nice or other positive quotes- I liked it. It kind of gave a glimpse of the personalities of the staff or owner's personality I thought. Anthony the owner did my hair. I got my hair re-toned, cut, washed and styled all for about $100. I bought some great products as decent prices too. Not only what I pleased with the quality of work he did, the prices, or the atmosphere I was pleased with the staff and Anthony. They are just nice outgoing people. Anthony clearly has style and takes pride in how he looks which makes me feel he will take pride in his work too. He is extremely knowledgeable. My hairdresser retired, so have been on the search for a new one. Came here based on the good reviews. My first visit was for just a haircut, although not totally satisfied, I made an appointment for 2 weeks later to get my hair colored and figured he could fix what I didn't like about the haircut then. At the second visit, I explained how I had wanted my bangs layered, had even showed him a few pictures at both visits. After coloring my hair, he breaks out the scissors and starts cutting the back. I had to remind him that I'd been there 2 weeks prior and only wanted my bangs fixed. He fixed them alright! More like chopped them! My hair was so uneven and he gave me thick straight bangs which is the first thing I said that I did not want. I didn't realize how awful of a job he'd done till I got home.... and cried. As I was checking out, and unfortunately tipped him pretty well, he tells me I'm getting a discount and he's only charging me $8 for cutting my bangs!! WTH??? If he'd done them right the first time, he wouldn't have had to cut them. It was just there 2 weeks ago!!! I ended up going to Salon Lofts in Largo and for $25 less got my hair fixed by Nicole as much as the she could. It was pretty awful. Btw.... the owner Anthony was the hairdresser that chopped my hair. You can guarantee that I will not recommend them to anyone, nor will I be back! read more

I've had a good experience here up to now. The owner Anthony is super nice but my last appointment with Nina was very disappointing. She cut my hair so short that I can't do anything but wait for it to grow back. I specially said do it like last time which was a prett good cut. Instead she just disregarded my request. Also,I am not confident with her skills as a colorist either. I heard her sever times speak with anot stylist about how to color correct what she had done. Just moved to the Clearwater area and was looking for a stylist. Saw R Salon on yelp and it had good reviews. Had an appointment today with Paige. He is amazing! He colored and cut my hair and it looks awesome! I'm so happy to be a brunette again! (I had a bad experience a few months ago at a different salon and my hair turned orange, but Paige was able to fix it.) If I could give them 0 stars I would! I called to see if they could take me today and they said if I could get there in 10 minutes they could. I got there in 10 minutes and proceeded to wait another 10 before being brought to a chair. The original reason I had asked for an appointment was for color retouch. The woman asked if I had dyed my hair myself... strike one! Next I said I had been called by my boss on the way there and wouldn't have time for the color but I asked if she could still get my hair trimmed and blown out before 4:30 (it was only 2:50 at the time) and the woman proceeded to LAUGH at me and say she could in no way get MY KIND OF HAIR done in an hour and a half... strike 2 and 3!!!!! I have very thick curly hair but have never had someone take more than an hour and a half for just a trim and blow dry! This was by far the rudest hair dresser I have ever met and will never be stepping foot in this establishment again! Horrible service and rude rude staff. read more

Butchered my eyebrows I went to get my hair cut and my eyebrows waxed. Kathy opted to do my eyebrows first. I have thick (Brook Shields thick) eyebrows. I explained that I just wanted her to clean up my brows a little but that I absolutely did not want thin brows. Kathy waxed them and it should have been a clue that when she was done, she didn't offer me a mirror to see the end result. She then cut my hair. My hair cut turned out fine but I didn't notice the butcher job on my eyebrows b/c I was more focused on what she was doing to my hair that I didn't notice the waxing hack job. When I got home, I saw the damage. My eyebrows were so thin, they looked like they were drawn on with a felt pen. My eyebrows are a different size, shape, length & height. My left eyebrow is higher than my right and it for some reason starts farther from the bridge of my nose than my right. However, at least my left eyebrow is all the same width. My right starts out thin & then tappers into nothing. I've never cried over my eyebrows until now. Worst waxing experience I've ever had. It's so awkward looking and hard to comprehend that a professional would charge for such a hack job but also send someone home looking like they had someone who was blind drunk shape their eyebrows. Chase does great work with hair! I had nearly waist length hair and was looking for a change. After quite some deliberating, we decided to do a short hair style. He did a wonderful job!! I wasn't sure if I would be happy with such a drastic change but I ended up loving it!! He later convinced me to have some natural looking highlights for the summer. I had never colored or highlighted my hair before either and was very pleased with the results!! I thought leaving a review as soon as I left would be irresponsible as we all know "salon hair" is a thing... I just did it myself 3 days in a row and wow! I cannot say enough about Nina! She needs a new job title.. hair sorceress?! I came in after a traumatic experience at another salon. Nina put me at ease on the phone. She told me we'd come up with a plan to get where I want to be, but keep the integrity of my hair. This really put me at ease. I had an incredible amount of breakage and you would never know by looking at my hair today! You can tell she cares about how you feel and the health of your hair. I am forever indebted. I cried for weeks after my last experience and she gave me my confidence back. I wish I knew about her and this salon when I moved to the area. It was immaculate and everyone there was friendly and their clients were happy. I cannot wait to go back. Go see Nina!!. Update: Nina left and no one else is competent. The owner also said she wasn't ready to be on her own and proceeded to butcher my hair color so bad, I cried and went to Salon West just down the street. Had a root touch up and trim this week on my first visit to R Salon. Terrific service by Heather who matched my color perfectly! As a newcomer to the area and frequent traveler to my previous home I've been putting off selecting a hairdresser for almost a year. I've checked out reviews on yelp and must say they were spot on. This salon has a low key vibe and has nice decor and a comfortable feel. The only negative for me was that no one greeted me when I entered the salon, which was slightly awkward. Recently moved to Clearwater and have been anxiously and reluctantly looking for a replacement salon from Philly.. After a discouraging scheduling issue at 88Vintage in Pinellas Park , I decided to continue my search, and found the R Salon highly recommended on Yelp and Facebook in Clearwater.. I called this morning and although Anthony initially said they were booked today I indicated I was starting a new job on Tuesday and was trying to get in for a cut and color before that.. he said he would check and call me back to see if he could squeeze me in.. phone rang back not 2 minutes later and they were able to take me same day.. I arrived and was immediate introduced to my stylist Marie...After a brief consultation she knew what I was looking for... Going to a new stylist is always a little nerve racking, but she came off very confident and reassured that she knew what she was doing.. 2.5 hours later, hi/low lights, cut and style and I couldn't be happier. Seriously, as good as it gets! Just hanging out in Dunedin and decided that I really needed to do something about the cut and color of my frumpy hair! Looked online and found "R Salon". I give a call and get Paige. He books me in for the next day. Show him my pictures, ask advise about how to color and what to do - he's like "got you covered"... so, he goes to it.. tin foils me up so that I can receive and send radio transitions and all the while we have the most engaging, intelligent conversation. He was delightful, intelligent, competent and confident of his craft..... by the time I got the big reveal - I was stunned... hardly recognized myself! What a fabulous cut/color/style. I felt like a queen by the time I walked out of that place, everybody waved good by, see ya soon, ya'all come back now.... then, wait for it... here comes the real part of their service.... Husband sitting in the car outside, doing something that makes the battery go dead, so I go back inside and ask if anyone has a car they can give us a jump.. Owner, Anthony - jumps to the rescue.. throws Paige the keys, they both come out to make sure that we're started and set to go.. Jeeze Louise! I have been all over the Tampa area, including all the"high-end" salons and even a master stylist at Ulta and haven't been able to find someone to stack my hair properly. I was referred to Anthony by a friend that does not have a stacked hair cut and I was a little apprehensive, but figured it couldn't be any worse than what I've already experienced. And WOW was I impressed, Anthony totally nailed it, I am so happy and this is now my forever salon. He even colored my hair perfectly with about three or four different colors in it already from doing it at home (and we didn't choose a color from a book). Its location is a very inconspicuous building tucked beneath the oak trees, behind a fast-food chain, but consider it a hidden gem! I'm new to this place, but will be returning for my second visit . They are very accommodating. Anthony is considerate and is concerned with the satisfaction of each customer that walks through his salon. Heather was my stylist and did a good job on my cut, color, and highlights. Appointments are easy to book and they do NOT push product sales on you!!! (Which is why I left Salon West!!!)
