Oh my God, the absolute worst if I could leave zero stars I would. I had a color and cut with a woman named Renée who claimed to have over 20 years in the industry. Not only did she stay in my forehead terribly, which took over four days for it to subside. That was the least of my problems. She then told me that the haircut she gave me was perfect for my facial features... Really I look like Eddie Munster... Not only that, but the hair color was not what I wanted she gave me brassy highlights and a horrible base color. I would never go back to the salon and never got back to Renée. read more

Upon entering I wasn't greeted promptly and once I was there was no offer of a place to sit and wait nor any refreshments. My stylist Lisa wandered in late with no apologies. She didn't really consult with me as an aveda stylist should, but since I brought my formula I'll overlook that. at my second visit (where she was late again) she applied the color and foils, then went off to another client and foisted me off onto a trainee. No explanation. He rinsed me and did my blow dry. Unfortunately he used a boar brush and got it really tangled in my hair. Took him about 15 minutes to get that mess corrected. Another stylist came over to help. Meanwhile Lisa never came to check on me or her trainee. Unprofessional. I've found a different Aveda salon and won't go back here again. read more

I recently moved to the area and I've been looking for a place with great reviews and a place that looks organized and clean, I can across Salon Gaboa . I called them to ask for prices and they told me to go in so that a hairstylist could take a look at my hair that same day and I thought that because they were interested in my business since the beginning it was a great place. I went they took a look at my hair and gave me an estimate for my hair and I also made an appointment for the same week . When I get to my appointment they are extremely nice they offer me something to drink and the place is super clean. As I'm getting my hair done I told my hairdresser that I wanted me hair shorter than what I had. I wanted it shorted from the back and longer from the the front. My hairdresser had such an amazing personality. I didn't feel awkward I felt welcomed. But my hair came out not what I wanted I didn't notice it until I got home. Half of my hair was shorter than the other half, and it was shorter from the front and longer from the back. It was completely the opposite of what I wanted. I called the salon later that afternoon to left them know of the situation, they asked me to go again the next day to see the issue. I went the next day . When I got there the same hairdresser was going to fix my hair , she started to cut my hair but my hair was dry she didn't put any water on it to and my hair is between wavy and curly. I kept telling here that I wanted the back of my hair SHORTER and the front I wanted it LONGER. LIKE A BOB . After THREE times that o told her the same thing my hair was shorter than I was expecting it to be and I didn't want her to keep cutting it so I told here to leave it like that. I left for the second time unsatisfied . The serves is heat and the place is great. But my hair came out horrible even after she fixed it I had to go to a different hair salon and they told me that It looks like It wasn't done my a professional, and they fix it a little more to the style I wanted it. read more

I had a lot of options, but chose Salon Gaboa because of the reviews and it's less than a mile from my house. From my first contact by phone to schedule the appointment to waking out the door, it was THE BEST experience. My stylist, Jimmy, was fantastic, fantastic. He was great to talk to, we got along like we were old friends, but most importantly, he gave me an amazing cut and color. The reason I must respond. I anticipated going to a long-awaited appointment with my stylist, at Aveda Gamboa and Sarah I saw once before. What was to be a peaceful experience ended as a nightmare.! The first two hours there were perfect. I had let my stylist know I had a big bump from a fall left on the back of my head over a month ago. It was from a chronic medical condition and Sarah was attentive. After washing I got up and was a bit unsteady on my feet because sitting up quickly sometimes causes it. After being there from 1:50 PM to 3:36 PM I was still in a chair with color on. I got up and asked about the length of the coloring time. I let them know I needed to stretch my legs and walked outside for a couple of minutes. When I returned, Sarah began to finish my service immediately. The anscetichician ELLE made a comment directly to me "our people here are happy, you seem like a very unhappy person". I was insulted and offended. She doesn't know me. I don't know her? She said it twice more. even being asked to stop talking by Bridgette. Elle seemed pleased and I had no interactions with her, but she was rolling her eyes as the owner ask her to stop and she did not. Her condescending comments hurt me. I was there like any other person. I asked her not to judge me but she was certain I was an unhappy person. I'd like to bring all the people there who love me, my grandchildren, children, my 85 years old mother, and scores of national medical professionals that would beg to differ. It was not her knowledge to judge me. So I end this to say, please, don't judge people. Never tell them your perspective if you've not taken a few minutes to be educated. Sarah knew and we did great together. I'm very sad I'm unable to go back, but I will not forget I went back there and was greeted by frustrated people who could have been kind but chose to overpower me with verbal insults from Elle, who didn't listen at all to what the owner tried to do, she kept judging. Then I realized there's no reasoning with them. They handled it so poorly and I will miss Sarah because Sarah knew and tended to me, despite the staff and owner assuming they were dealing with a very classy lady that would rather leave than allow them to behave this way towards me. The owner is wonderful and very competent. She is the reason this is 4 stars, not 1 or 2. I had a bad experience with a colorist Alex. If you are getting balayage or any coloring with bleach I would advise not seeing Alex. I was updating my balayage and she left the very first bleach she put on my hair way too long and it pretty much fried that section and lightened it far too much. After the bleach was done I asked her about a toner as that is always done with highlights to which she replied "it wasn't needed with this product" this "product" she was referring to is the Aveda clay lightener. Being trusting I accepted that but it really makes no sense. The next day I came back in to have the color fixed as I looked like a mutt puppy with blotchy color. Alex did a toner and washed it out almost immediately. I commented that it normally sits for a few minutes, doesn't it? To which she said "not the way I mix it". She just seems very inexperienced and as though she knows it all yet her results don't match. In the end I kept insisting that the whole patch we were trying to fix was still quite platinum and it was supposed to be golden. In the end, the owner had to step in and fix it which took nearly 45 minutes. All the fixing was complimentary which I appreciate. The reason I am writing this that this big patch of hair at the back is still fried and I feel cheated of my time and money investment. It is very trusting to spend over $200 and 3-4 hours and still feel like my hair is botched and ugly to the point I am tempted to do an all over color to cover it. Keep in mind I have done this exact balayage twice in the last year in my regular salon and it came out perfect - my hair does not respond badly to bleach. I will say that my normal colorist usually checks the very first bleach he applies as he is going through and has washed it off before the rest were fully done because he cares about the results. read more

Losing your hair to Cancer is not easy, specially when your long time ( 10 years) hairdresser is not available when you need them most. This breakdown created an opportunity for me to go searching for a new place to get my hair cut really short before the chemo took care of it. When I called Salon Gaboa , a caring and kind person asked the reason for my hair cut and with a nut in my throat I shared the reason why. She then booked me for the first appointment the next day. When I showed up she had planned a wonderful pampering day for me. This newcomer whom she had never seen in her life. I felt loved, cared, welcome . I came in with red and blotchy face, teary eyes feeling a dark cloud over me and left a sunshine of life and laughter, thankful to have met all these lovely ladies that took time to share with me love and compassion. I've been there three times now since settling in the area and from my initial call with Fred to set my appointment to my time in the chair with Bridget who always listens to EVERYTHING I have to say, happily looks at the photos in my phone of what I like and don't like and offers her suggestions - I now have a cut and color that I love! Best haircut I've ever had! I'm one of those people who goes way longer than I should without a haircut because I'm so nervous I'll hate it. I moved here in April, and finally pulled the trigger on finding a new salon-- and I could not be happier! Dan was my stylist. He listened to everything I had to say, and gave a very detailed description of what he was thinking of doing. I showed him my hair inspiration Pinterest board, and it lined up exactly with what he was describing. My hair is naturally wavy, and I love keeping it that way. He cut it so that it looks great whether I simply wash and air dry, or if I go out of my way to style it. He even straightened it at first to make sure that, if I ever chose to straighten it, it would still look great. When he styled my hair to accentuate my wave, he taught me exactly how to do everything. I'm admittedly not very good at styling my own hair, and I told him that. He took the time to teach me how to achieve curls with a flat iron, and how to use certain products to achieve certain results-- while keeping in mind that I'm very much a low maintenance kind of girl. And--to top it off, he was so wonderful to talk to! I'm kind of shy when first meeting people, and have felt awkward in other salons because I am quiet. Conversation just flowed with him, and he made me feel very comfortable. The receptionist was so kind and easy to talk to. He even got me an appointment on the same day! I have been a client at Salon Gaboa for many years and Bridget has always been there for me. She listens closely to what I want because she knows I am fairly conservative when it comes to my hair. Literally, every time I walk out of the salon I feel like a new person not just because my hair looks great. The staff are super attentive and happy to chat away if you are in the mood or if you aren't that's fine too. I love all of the Aveda products and the vibe of the salon.
