Rod, owner of RB Appliance repaired my Sub Zero's headlamp assembly (bad bulb) and got it running like new inside of 30 minutes. Rod is a master Sub Zero repair expert. He showed up on-time, was extremely personable and repair cost was fair. He loves Sub Zero and educated me on their durability and serviceability--he said never ever throw away a Sub Zero--you can repair them without having to remove the ridge from where it stands and owns two that are 55 years old. read more

Wonderful experience from scheduling to finish. Rod came out and diagnosed and fixed our subzero freezer leaking problem in under an hour. It was a very reasonable cost as well read more

I was worried when my Sub Zero refrigerator went on the blink and started melting the contents of the freezer compartment. The fact that it was a high end, 27 year old appliance increased the chances that a random selection of an appliance service person could send someone to my doorstep who was not familiar with the brand, could not diagnose the cause of the problem or had to make multiple trips to get the right parts. To my delight Rod Bartz showed up the next morning after l called (he has a policy of prioritizing broken refrigerators). He is very knowlesedgeable of the brand and diagnosed the problem in 5 minutes. Things got even better when he told me he had a new defrost timer in his truck. 10 minutes later he had the part installed, the refrigerator was humming quietly and he was on his way. It was a pleasure to meet someone who is friendly, knowledgable and a nice guy who answered all my questions. read more

Highest possible recommendation for Rod at RB appliance. He knows everything about kitchen equipment, new and old, and can service anything in the kitchen, including their internal electronics. He can source parts and part refurbishing services as necessary. He responds promptly and reliably. I could go on & on but you get my point. read more

Called this morning and the sweetest lady answered. They couldnt help me as they do not service my brand of oven. Not only did she tell me who does but she gave me their number. It might not seem like a big deal but we have been calling around for MONTHS trying to find a repair man for Kitchenaid appliances. I was so very grateful read more

Rod was awesome! He fixed my 15 year old GE Cafe gas stove/oven and showed me how to do it myself. Very reasonably priced too! Rod also knows a lot about high end stoves/ovens such as Viking, Thermidor, and Wolf. I will be sure to call on him again when I can find a Wolf to replace my GE. What a class act. Unfortunately they were not able to service us (due to location) but spend time on the phone and provided guidance. This is something you rarely see anymore! Will recommend R&B not only for their expertise but for the way they handle customer service (even when it does not serve them). read more

Professional, prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly! Quick repair to my Sub Zero that was leaking water and had a frozen ice dispenser. We have used Rod twice for two different ranges. He really knows what he's doing when it comes to our American Range. The first time another company was going to charge us $400 more to fix our broiler and we just didn't have a good feeling about them. Rod came out, wheeled our stove away from the wall, fixed something that was clogged and had it done in 15 minutes for a service charge. This time in our new house he came out, had the part and fixed it quickly. This company is reliable, experienced and best of all honest. read more

Our refrigerator stopped working and we feared we would have to get a new one. Ron Bartz diagnosed the problem, ordered the needed parts, and had the refrigerator working in a couple of days. His skill and experience made us realize that we could save a lot of money by getting several more years of service from our existing refrigerator. A local treasure for people who live on the Monterey peninsula. read more

Wow! I am one happy girl. We got an old O'Keefe & Merritt gas stove that wasn't working. We restored and cleaned all parts before trying to put it back together. We were successful with 2 of the burners, but the stove wouldn't light. Fast forward 2 years of turning the gas on and off every time we wanted to cook something. We found Rod earlier this week and scheduled an appointment. I didn't have any hope of him actually being able to make it work. He just left our house and the stove and grill-evator are now working for the first time for us! Thanksgiving will be at our house this year ;) Rod is knowledgeable, reasonable and a heck of a nice guy. I love it when you find someone that appreciates older classic appliances and can get them working like they're designed to. Thanks Rod!!! read more

We have used Rod, the owner of R B Appliance since we moved to Carmel Valley 14 years ago. Always professional, highly skilled and extremely knowledgable about the products he chooses to service. When I lived in another city I got a repair man who just kept guessing and trying different things and charged for every trip. Rod chooses to work on the appliances he knows well so he doesn't waste my time, money. So he truly is a product expert. I'll bend my schedule to accommodate him, that's how important it is to have him work on our ovens, refrigerator and now the dishwasher. If he can't fix it no one can. I'll buy my next new appliance based on what Rod will work on, just in case. read more

Beyond helpful and courteous! We will always use R B appliance in the future and only buy brands that they work on.

Rod fixed our stove by installing a new igniter. It was obvious he was very practiced. He was successfully in and out in no time. This gentleman knows his stuff read more

Rod is awesome. He is knowledgeable, fair and very responsive. He is truly a loyal repair man--a lost skill these days.

Nobody likes it when some big company gives you a service window of when they can squeeze you in. A one man show like RB APPLIANCE takes a play from them and treats you just like that. I was given a three hour (1-3 pm)window of when RB could come by. When I called to say I was delayed and wouldn't be home till 1:45, boy was I in trouble! They weren't sure if that was going to work for them. That's what customer service is all about, right- what works for them- come on! After listening to "RB's greatest hits" ( the un-asked-for verbal resumé of hot air) he said he was going to "let me" recycle the 3'x3' cardboard box the part came in, for him. Again, RB is taking a page out of the corporate handbook of nickel and diming the customer by letting me do his job for him-- Pack it in, pack it out dude! read more

You CHOSE to say, "Then it's a Sears". You didn't qualify your statement further as you did in your reply, instead you CHOSE your words unwisely leaving it open to interpretation and implication. It doesn't matter what your reasoning may be, or the licenses you hold...my review stands and I will never recommend your business to another. Customers like me want results, not excuses. read more

Rod Bartz is "RB Appliance Repairs". He is a sole practitioner and a true wizard of appliance operation and repair. Recently, while shopping for a replacement for our malfunctioning Dacor convection oven (we thought we were doomed to buy a new one after a mere 14 years of light usage), a local retailer suggested that I call Rod to see if he could fix it. He said Rod has been in the residential appliance repair business for more than 30 years and is the best in the area on many brands, including Dacor. We have had problems with this oven in the past so we concluded with diminishing access to replacement parts it was probably time to replace it, but instead we invited Rod to see what he could do. The results were nothing short of remarkable in my opinion. Not only did Rod diagnose the problem over the phone, but also he arrived a mere three days later with the required parts after keeping us posted on his progress via email. He was able to restore the oven to like-new operation in under thirty minutes. After the oven repair, he fixed a bent part on our Subzero refrigerator which was causing the freezer drawer to bind when opened. He checked the refrigerator compressor and advised me how and when to clean it. He then took the time to explain the design, operation and maintenance of of the Dacor oven to ensure continued trouble free operation. When he presented me with the invoice for the repair, I noted his price was fully 30% less than a quote from a competitor. There were no hidden charges for parts research and acquisition. He did not uplift the parts cost to pad his profit. And as stated above, he is focused on customer satisfaction and took the time to explain both the repair and operation of our appliance(s). The retailer said Rod was honest, competent, and efficient. They were exactly right and I would not hesitate to call Rod when future repair opportunities present themselves. Oh, and did I mention he is a truly personable man who likes his work and enjoys the customer experience. If you have a household appliance that you wish wasn't broken or would operate better whether it be an oven or a BBQ grill or a dishwasher, hire this man. You will be glad you did. read more

I called Rod to fix a washer at our business because of all the good reviews he's received on Yelp. We use this washer 2-3 times a month to wash rags and that's it. The water wasn't draining and he said that the problem was a latch on the cover and fixed it. Several weeks later we were having the same problem as before so I called and his answering machine said he was out of town for the holidays. I've been trying to contact him for the past several weeks since then and I haven't received a call back. In my experience someone who does this kind of work will guarantee his work for at least a month if not more. I wouldn't recommend him if you want to get any kind of response back after he's been paid. ***Not really the reply that you would hope for but in any case. I left you my cell number at least a couple of times and you would have been able to reach me at anytime. and it was less than 45. read more

In olden days, equipment maintenance and repair people diagnosed what was actually wrong with something before they started throwing parts at it in the hopes of finding a solution and thereby accidentally fixing the problem. Rod from RB is one of those great and rare finds these days. He's not from the new school of hit and miss repair via component substitution. When our Matag refrigerator began putting out more heat than our furnace, I called him, he offered to come by the following afternoon at 1pm or so, showed up exactly on time. Then he carefully ran the diagnostics on the control panel, a process that took about 5-10 minutes, proclaimed the brain of the icebox was working well and after taking a careful diagnostic history (better than most doctors, I might add), he determined an incident from a few weeks earlier had caused an ice block in the freezer section that had gotten progressively worse. I couldn't find it but he knew where to look. Rod told me to defrost it for 12 hours or so and see if that solves the problem. It worked and it's been cooling great ever since. He also referred me to some top-notch folks to install our new commercial kitchen equipment and I'll call him for service if need be. Rod is tops in my book and an asset to his profession. While he charges a couple of bucks more an hour than others but remember you get what you pay for and with Rod, you save big in unnecessary parts and labor and avoid repeat service calls to fix something that wasn't properly diagnosed. Rod IS the man ! Thanks !!! read more

I am very pleased to have found Rod, helped through the strong reviews on Yelp. He answered the phone himself and offered good suggestions on the phone about my ancient GE clothes dryer that wasn't heating and a newer Bosch dishwasher that wasn't draining. I made an appointment for him to come to my home, and he showed up right on time. A quick knock on a check valve fixed the drainage problem and I had earlier fixed the clothes dryer by resetting it. His $95 service charge was well worth it as he taught me a bit about fixing these problems myself, and gave me confidence that I could call on him for all my appliance problems in the future. read more

We are from out of the local area and needed to get a dishwasher and washer-dryer combo repaired. Yelp to the rescue. Rob was prompt, polite, and an excellent repairman. He explained all very well. The repair saved us from replacing these appliances before sale. The inside glass of our oven cracked when it was cleaning. I called BID in Sand City where we purchased it and he gave me Rod's number. Left a message for Rod after finding him on Yelp. We have a KitchenAid oven that has problems with the self cleaning mode. Followed up with an e-mail (clicked on the Yelp web link) containing pics of the model/serial #, and oven. Rod called back very quickly. He briefed me on options after reviewing the e-mail. I will use Rod again. He is organized and friendly and knows his stuff. Thanks to all others who took the time to post on Yelp so I could find him. read more

The best technician I've found locally -- by far! On his first visit he handled issues that had defeated other repairmen on repeated visits, and fixed a longtime issue "unasked" because he noticed it and "I knew you'd want it fixed." He was right! To quote Rod B, "If it takes me longer than 30 minutes to fix your dryer, I don't know what I'm doing!" He efficiently diagnosed and repaired the problem so quickly with such energy and enthusiasm that it was very clear that he not only knows what he's doing but takes pride in doing it well. I will not hesitate to call him again and have already recommended him to all my friends and neighbors. Take a bow, Rod! Many thanks for a job well done. WOW! Rod Bartz is a MAGICIAN! Every day that I use my Heartland range I send thanks his way. Our 20-year-old range, installed by the previous owners, had been misbehaving for a long time. I dealt with its quirks until one day all four burners quit working as did the oven. After another repairperson attempted valiantly for multiple hours to repair it, I was nearly ready to buy a new one...until I checked the price! I decided to try one more repairperson before throwing in the towel. ROD IS MY HERO! Within 25 minutes, he had all four burners working again, and within another hour the oven was restored to life. I am SOOOO very grateful to Rod! Experience really matters in this line of work, and Rod has abundant experience. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! read more

A true SubZero Whisperer! I've read the other reviews and totally agree with all of the comments about his professionalism and knowledge. I got to see it in action recently. And, by the way, I found Wendy to be personable and knowledgeable as well in communicating with me about scheduling and getting the details of my problem. I've got a 20+ year old SubZero that was not holding temperature. He immediately diagnosed it as needing a new evaporator. But, rather that leave us in a lurch until the part came in, he got it cooling to hold us until he could come back with the repair. I am still amazed at how smooth the repair went and without disruption. Our kitchen and refrigerator are like the LA freeway! It's hard to stop and make a repair. But, he did it! And, from his knowledge and optimism about the SubZero products I am convinced that it's worth taking care of this and not falling into the "it's too old and time to replace" mode. Thanks Rod and Wendy! I highly recommend this team to anyone with a kitchen appliance problem. read more

I'm thrilled to have found Rod! He responded to my email right away and was able to schedule a service call for my dishwasher within a couple of days. In addition to troubleshooting my dishwasher issue, he gave great tips about the best detergents/ cleaners to use. As a result, within hours, the inside of my dishwasher looks brand new! He also spent a lot of time educating me about my Viking range. So many things I didn't know/ understand ... it all makes sense now. Rod will definitely be my 'go to' guy! read more

I wanted to provide a review awhile ago and never did. Now I'm looking again for his assistance I felt that I owed it to Rod to post a review. In 2013 I was hosting Thanksgiving at my home. And wouldn't you know it my oven died the week before. Rod went out of his way to make sure he was able to fix my oven before the holiday making sure that I was able to cook the meal as I had planned. He was very prompt, very helpful and did an awesome job. I have also had him fix my dishwasher at another time. It is a huge relief to have someone I can turn to for all of my appliance repairs.
