Long-time customer, leaving after years of declining service I have been a customer for about 15 years, and the last few years have gone downhill steadily: double charges on orders, wrong items delivered, and deliveries that just didn't show up. This week was the last straw: my order was supposed to arrive and didn't. After repeated calls and texts with no answer (other than a one word text), I am discontinuing my relationship with this company and switching suppliers. While I understand people make mistakes and nobody is perfect, the lack of attention to detail is not something I'm willing to overlook. My horses and I deserve reliability. It's a shame, because this used to be a business I trusted. If you're considering them, ask around about recent experiences before committing to a regular order. read more

My family has been loyal customers at this location for over 10 years, and I have never experienced customer service as terrible as it has been recently. Last year, the store charged us twice for feed, and instead of taking responsibility, we were the ones who had to dig up proof of their mistake and dispute the charge with our bank. Now, we just noticed another unexpected charge and called the store to understand what it was for. The female employee who answered told us it was for an item ordered a month ago, but as soon as I brought up the previous double-payment issue, she became extremely rude, dismissive, and actually hung up on me. Thinking it was an accident, I called back--only to have every call go straight to voicemail, clearly being ignored. After a decade of giving this place our business, it is unbelievable and honestly insulting to be treated this way. With their history of billing errors, the bare minimum should be polite communication and a clear explanation for a delayed charge--not attitude, not avoidance, and certainly not hanging up on long-time customers. I am super fortunate to find this place! I had a bad year and couldn't do alot of my hobbies (damn COVID) and my favorite hobby has been Archery. Now I do have friends come over to practice their skills and every now and then we have a mischievous arrow that likes to "leave the field trip" so I normally buy bails of hay. My previous seller I would use a truck and then pack it home myself but that vehicle is no longer with us. I called quite a few places around and Google lead me no where that I was comfortable with their deliver prices. I do not own livestock and didn't need 10 bails of hay to reach minimum quantity for a delivery. I finally thought of using yelp and I found this business. They tell me over the phone their prices and how much the service fee is (delivery fee) and as a pro consumer I do my math and with the estimate I got for not needing 10 bails of hay and a crazy delivery fee I am now saving $117. Instant gratification! So I place my order and set up a delivery date for the weekend so I would be home. Late in the afternoon on Saturday 2 gentlemen drop off my 3 bails of hay and I set up my new targets. The hay bails are very tightly packed and better compared to my old seller. The price is very affordable and the quality is excellent. while I personally dont own livestock I do help my uncle with his horse and goats from time to time. the hay arrived clean, dry, and no dirt or dust was found while inspecting. I am a happy customer and will tell my uncle about my experience at this location. HIGHLY recommend this business for your Archery Needs or Animals feeds. read more

Still an awesome place to get hay. I've gotten 2nd cutting Timothy and Orchard hay here for my guinea pigs. I'm in Upland and the delivery is $4. You need to set-up a delivery account in-person at their store to schedule deliveries. Deliveries are easy and convenient! They charge my credit card on file and I am able to get my hay delivered on the weekend. The last delivery guy even helped me get everything into my shed and stacked it up nicely for me! Great quality hay, never had a problem and my guinea pigs prefer this hay to the hay you can purchase at the pet store. read more

I have always wanted a bale of hay to decorate my front porch for the trick or treater's that come to my house every year and I needed a bale of hay for our preschool's "Trunk or Treat." Although there are many feed stores in the Chino Valley, only R & L feed is on Yelp. I wasn't sure of where to purchase one but have seen them at Kellogg Store at Cal Poly Pomona for $15. I would say most people don't typically yelp for hay and the locals already know where to find them :p You can buy smaller bales at Walmart or Michael's but they can get costly. My large bale was only $8.95 and my trunk looked amazing for my trunk theme "country farm stand." I paid the cashier and pulled my car around the corner and the friendly and helpful guy working in the back pulled one down from the mound and loaded it in my car for me for me. He shoved it in as if I had a pickup truck but I'm glad it fit ;p read more

R and L is a very dishonest business. Three times our order was delivered to our neighbors house instead. The last time they delivered our chicken feed, it was not the brand we ordered and they over charged us by $24. Supposedly they issued a credit to me but will not honor it now. They also changed the order in their computer so that it looks correct even though I have the original receipt. When I mentioned that, I was told that I was rude and should send an email. read more

I have been getting Hay from R&L for about 17 years or so and we have found it to be the BEST, they get to know what kind of Hay you like,and then they pick out of all the Hay to bring you exactly what you like....can you say SERVICE!!! The guys are all very nice and always close gates and follow what instructions you provide. I was pissed off because I was helping to put together a harvest festival type thing and was down to the last minute for trying to find something like 20 bales of hay for seating and hay rides. I had never given anyone a low review like that, strictly because I understand small businesses livelihood relies on these posts. In my frustration I posted a review that looking back makes me feel like a bully, and I'm not. I apologize for whatever damage that review may have caused. I have been buying hay here for many years. The owner has even personally walked the yard to show me what's available and give his opinion. I always go to the store to check out what's available as my critters can be picky about the hay. Delivery is done with a smile and it's always stacked just how I want it(usually 50+ bales). The price is always competitive if not lower. I don't even shop around any more. read more

This place is so cool! My parents live in this area and I brought up my two little bunnies with me for a visit. I needed some fresh hay to give them and found this place. I was able to fill a garbage size bag full of fresh cut hay for only $1! My bunnies LOVED it. I was very happy to find this place! I've come here a few times for hay before I wrote this review because I could not make up my mind about it. It is in the middle of nowhere so it's easy to miss. They cater to people with horses and anyone with experience who already know what they want. Their hay can be a hit or miss - sometimes it is extremely green and fresh and a few times it is mostly brown and dusty. It is a reasonable price, much cheaper than you would pay at a Petco. They used to sell flakes but now do it a lot less frequently so if you need less than a bale like I do, this is not the place. There are two employees: a young man who does all the heavy lifting and the young lady who works the register. The young man is very friendly and will do his best for you. The young lady is a hit or miss - most of the time, when I walk in, I feel pretty unwelcome cause she doesn't smile or greet you. She pretty much ignores you or talks in a very sarcastic way. However, after working with her several times, I realized that she is probably not intending to come off as cold or rude, it was just the way she talked. She is very knowledgeable and helpful...but it would help if she smiled more! I lived with this up to now, not good but not bad. I could even deal with leaving empty handed sometimes. But recently, I discovered that they sell baby rabbits in the waaaaay back of the store. The rabbits are extremely cute but their living conditions are deplorable. The cages are rusty, cramped, and made of wire with no form of cushioning, not even a piece of cardboard, so it is not good for bunny paws. Their litter looks like it hasn't been changed in forever, covered in droppings and urine soaked. And they are fed only pellets and corn. Rabbits are NOT supposed to have corn, it is harmful to them and can kill them cause they can't digest it. Additionally, these bunnies looked extremely young - maybe 2 months max, which is the bare minimum for being weaned from their mom. At that age, they should be introduced to timothy/alfalfa hay...which makes me wonder if they are too young for even hay or if the owner of R&L simply didn't want to deal with the hassle. It's not like they lack the hay to feed them properly. It was in the high 90's and the poor babies were next to the open door, getting the brunt of the heat, even with a fan blowing at them. They were also extremely skittish. I can't in good conscience support a store, even a small business, knowing that they treat the animals they sell with more disregard than a Petsmart. I want to support R&L and I tried my best over the course of several months but it just left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I've been to R&L feed exactly once, For a bag of lay pellets and two bags of Chick scratch. It's a nice old-school Feedstore. The service was good. They are getting four stars and a review because I don't think that they deserved one star for answering the phone one minute after closing time to see if somebody really needed some help. read more

I've come here a couple of times for my rabbit. The pricing on the rabbit feed is better than chain pet stores. I bought a 50 pound bag of feed because per pound, the pricing was better than the smaller bag. I also bought hay flakes here. They give you a kitchen size trash bag and will fill it up with hay from the back. It's only a dollar and my rabbit likes it better than the packaged hay from pet stores. The guy who works here, Ralph, is super helpful and friendly. This is definitely my go-to feedstore in Chino. read more

Useless staff, poor customer service!! Three times I called and asked if they had chicks and all three times I was told that I would receive a phone call when the chicks came in. They took down my name and number each time and promised they would call me. Not ever did I receive a phone call! The only way I was able to purchase a Polish chick was by having a hunch that maybe they came in and I called them to verify. When I got there, the staff knew nothing about the breed or what colors were in their cage. The young girl with green hair at the register, could care less about helping me. There was a young man there who tried to be helpful by looking at a poster on the wall and comparing the chick they had in the store, trying to figure out what color it would become. He really had no idea what he was talking about but at least he tried. The chicks were held in an open top cage so customers were coming in and picking them up to hold and pet them. I was very concerned about spreading of disease but I took a chance because I wanted that breed. I will not go there to purchase food or anything else. read more
