Mom and Pops needed to have three Joshua trees removed. Pops already got the permit and all I had to do was find someone to do it. I was in Phoenix looking for a service in the high desert and found these guys!! I called Rick and he was awesome!! He answered ALL my questions and was EXTREMELY helpful. I let him know that it would be a couple of weeks before I returned and he said it would be no problem. The day after I came back I called and he came out right away to give us a FREE estimate!!! I vote YES on that!! The estimate....TOTALLY REASONABLE!!! He let us know that the earliest he could do the job was a couple of weeks out. We were good with that. The crew show up ON TIME and were very polite and professional. LOVE THAT KINDA SERVICE!!! I ALWAYS yelp help and when I read the response Rick gave for a negative post, I wanted to see for myself. I get some people are unhappy with service and professionalism, but, I found it hard to believe that Rick was completely in the wrong. I asked all the questions I thought to be pertinent and Rick was more than willing to answer them all. He even had some answers to questions I didn't know to ask. I Above and beyond service.....ABSOLUTELY. What made me go with Rick and his company was the fact that he responded to the complaint. Yeah....that's correct...the way he responded!! I like working with people that are straight to the point. I agree...misunderstandings happen. Bad communication happens. HOWEVER....COMMA....there are ways to resolve prior to posting reviews. My thought is, if your unhappy with service, consider all the possibilities, and then take action. And if you've done your due diligence, you would know good deals vs. bad deals. And if your understanding is different than what was discussed, then it seems to me that there are ways to figure it out. Just sayin. My experience.....EXCELLENT!!! I called R&J Tree Service and another local tree service. Both came out that morning and gave me a quote. I had a tree that was next to my driveway and it was just starting to lift up the concrete so I needed to nip it in the bud before it got worse. Rick gave me a better quote and was able to come out the very next morning. His crew of four or so showed up and removed one 30 ft Aleppo Pine. The stump was ground down to below surface level. They also trimmed seven other trees, per our discussion. These trees are over 20 years old. Most of the trimming was at the bottom but they also trimmed branches that were close to the top of my chimney. They showed up in the morning and were gone by around noon. He asked if we knew anyone would want the chopped up trunk, apparently many do. My wife called around and found a cousin that wanted the firewood. So he left it behind in my driveway. She is picking up her free firewood this morning. The rest of the trimmings were chopped up and hauled away. I found R&J as the only tree service listed in the classified section of the Victor Valley Daily Press. I checked to verify that his California business license was current and he was bonded. I also did not see any bad marks on the Better Business Bureau website. Overall, Rick was friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and did exactly what I wanted, quickly, at a good price. I have a big bushy pine tree in my back yard. The last time I had it trimmed was in 2016. It was pretty big then, but in the last three years one branch became very heavy, and finally split. I called R and J because of the good reviews. Well, every review was absolutely correct. I received a quote the very next day. For the amount of work that was needed it was, in my opinion, very reasonable. Today the crew showed up and did an excellent job. They thinned the tree and cleaned up all the mess. They even cut firewood for me. I was afraid the broken limb would make the tree look uneven, but the way they trimmed it, you wouldn't even know it was missing. I am extremely happy with everything. I have been working on my front and back yard for the last two months removing old trees and bushes and replacing them with palms and cacti to conserve water and since they fit the area better. There were 5 stumps I could just not cut any lower and after weeks of trying and many trips to Home Depot, a broken chainsaw, sawzall, several hand saws, lastly an axe to it, nothing worked. We had spent a couple grand on rocks and plants and really did not want to hire help, but also just wanted these sumps GONE! Renting a stump grinder $160 a day and our stumps were still too high so this was also not an option. I called several tree services in the area and these were the only ones that actually answered the phone and were super nice. I got an estimate for $30 to cut the stump to the ground and they would be there in an hour! That was a no brainer for me and when they were here I showed them 4 other stumps and got those removed for $10 each!!! In half an hour all 5 stumps were gone, I feel like a complete idiot for trying to save money and wasting weeks of time and so much hard work. Don't be stupid like me and call R&J Tree service, they said they could have landscaped my whole yard (almost an acre!) for $3000. He also give us advise as to just trimming the trees or having them removed, we decided to keep our visiting birds happy and have the trees trimmed.
