I'll start by saying the staff is very helpful and welcoming. It's located in the parking lot of Willowbrook mall near the Nordstrom Rack, so plenty of parking. I was here on a Sunday and it wasn't too packed. Upon entering I choose a seat and the waitress was over rather quickly. She did a good job at taking my order and addressing my needs. I wasn't pleased looking at the menu and everything is á la carte(wings $15 + fries $7 = $22) I understand inflation but DAMN. The wings weren't breaded so they are pretty small for the price. It's still new of course so not surprised the service was a little slow . Seating was very close to each other and with many empty tables it took about 5 mins to seat . Now unless you ask you wouldn't know the happy hour hours (3pm-7pm) the pricing is a little much but the drink was really good and strong for the $8 happy hour price - I had the pineapple mojito! Our waiter was great and let us know a little bit about the place , the vibe is great with the live Dj. The fried catfish and grits was pretty good as well, they get a 10/10 on the Gouda grits! Decided to try this place out since it's not far for me and black owned. Had a reservation for 6:45PM for 3. Soon as we got there we seated. It wasn't too busy. The atmosphere was very chill and relaxing. The music was pretty good. Good mix of rap and Rnb songs. Looked very clean, not sure if he was the manager or not but a guy checked on us a couple times and even cleared our plates. Very nice. Everyone who brought the food out was very nice and engaging. Very beautiful people working there. TVs at the bar so might be a cool place to go to watch games. Food. The food was pretty good and the drinks. My only complaint was the wait time seemed long. I ordered the Captains Platter (catfish, shrimp, dirty rice and broccolini). The rice was cool. Everything else was hot. My wife had greens and they were cold too but not as cold as my rice. On Mother's Day, I wanted to lounge around and do absolutely nothing all day and that's exactly what I did! Anyway, the food was delicious. We ordered the jerk oxtail empanadas appetizer. It was tasty. My daughter wanted to try oxtails for the first time. She ordered chicken and waffles. My son ordered the chicken sandwich, which was HUGE! Since they didn't have a kids menu, I ordered plain waffles and eggs for my 8 year old, which by the way, I probably wouldn't recommend this place for little kids. The food took nearly 2hrs to arrive. I only ordered 3 pieces of chicken and French toast (2 pieces of bread). The waitress was terrible and the staff ignored me after I ordered. I asked several times for a refund so I could leave and I was told by my waitress that she can't do that. I was being held hostage because again, we had to pay in advance of receiving our order. When the food actually arrived hrs later, I asked for it to go and the waitress just tossed my container on the table and walked off. Like what the hell is going on there? I'll tell you now don't waste your time or money. I attached my receipt that shows the time I ordered (and paid in advance for some reason) and I tagged the time to show what time it actually arrived. I was really hoping I'd love this place because it's so close to where I live, but unfortunately this is not the case. I do have to keep in mind that it was their soft opening and they had a lot of bumps in the road. I ordered my Cajun pasta two times the first time it came out cold, the second time it came out steaming hot completely different, so I think they're learning. Also I got the catfish it was OK it wasn't spectacular. The mac & cheese was giving very crafts mac & cheese. But I believe in them I think they're going to do good. The staff were very nice so that's why I'm trying to not hate this place. I wouldn't go here for at least like another three months, and that's when they'll probably be better. We got the crabcakes and the seafood fondue that came with toast to dip it with the dipping sauce for the crabcakes was creamy and a little tangy it paired very well, I had the strawberry lemonade mint drink. It was excellent and not too sweet for my Cajun blackened salmon with rice and a creamy crawfish tail sauce on top. It was excellent. One thing I liked about the salmon.
