    Bar area with tapas
    Ryan M.

Located in the Mercat Boqueria open market this tapas bar had some good food. I ordered the Spanish omelet (tortilla) with potato bacon and cheese. Usually at tapas bars they are cold and I never really like them. This one was still hot and the cheese and potatoes oozed out of it. So good now I get what they mean about this dish. I also ordered fried artichokes which I had been searching for but were somewhat out of season. There's were crunchy and delicious, I sprinkled a little salt on them to give it a little more. The espresso machine works with pods so it's not fresh ground beans but it does help them with the speed of getting orders out quicker. Overall really liked the tortilla with potato cheese and bacon and the artichokes. Best breakfast in Barcelona.

Las croquetas muy ricas! Las alcachofas no tenían sazón... les puse un poco de vinagre de vino y sal y mejoraron mucho! Es un lugar con mucho turista, no es espectacular pero tampoco es malo. Está bien.

    Fried baby calamari.. Yummy

Breakfast and beverage menu at Quiosc Modern inside the Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria in Barcelona.

One of the many stalls in the historic Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria right off of the tourist heavy but must visit marketplace known as La Rambla sits Quiosc Modern which is an almost diner-like-stand serving traditional Spanish dishes with a more outlining grilled technique, which enables them to serve more unique dishes that I feel separates them from the numerous other stalls that also serve food in the Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria. Obviously it was packed the day we got to the Mercat La Boqueria, in fact we had been there the day before and at about 5 pm local time they were packing up for the night, which we were surprised by as in Europe, Spain in particular, they tend to eat out all night long, but alas not at Quiosc Modern, which is sad since the marketplace is open till 8:30pm. So it was a return trip to the Mercat a day later for a late lunch/ early dinner and at this time of day it's busy enough for customers to have to wait for a seat at their counter, since they're so busy. Luckily as fate would have it, they were able to seat us right away as there happened to have three seats in a row available for myself and my party. Immediately we were all drawn to the Fish & Seafood portion of their menu, as we wanted to try some of the food they had to offer at Quiosc Modern and we asked what they were most famous for and their response was their grilled seafood, so we knew that's what we came for. The menu at Quiosc Modern is more basic than a traditional menu, which makes sense since the restaurant like all of the restaurants in the Mercat La Boqueria are all small stalls so a wide variety of dishes simply isn't possible. Their menu is broken up into sections such as Fish & Seafood, Meats, Appetizer, Veggies and even Breakfast dishes as the whole marketplace opens up rather early. Since there were three of us in our party, and upon the suggestion of our server, we decided to order their Mixed Grilled Seafood (which served 2 people) and a side of Grilled Vegetables, in this case their asparagus. It didn't take too long for our food to come out as a huge platter of clams, mussels, calamari, and shrimp covered with plenty of seasoning chives and lemon for taste alongside a decent if not somewhat unremarkable plate of asparagus. We loved our plate and finished it in no time. It really is a sight to see the hard working crew at Quiosc Modern do their thing in their small stall as they try to serve everyone at their countertop and outmaneuver each other as a result. Would I return to Quiosc Modern upon another visit to the legendary Mercat La Boqueria? You better believe I would say hello to my new friends and even consider getting a quick meal before I paint the town red as Quiosc Modern is a quick and affordable option for a nice meal, despite being located in such a popular and high-trafficked tourist destination. It truly epitomizes what Spanish culture and cuisine is all about.

Located in the main market, Quiosc Modern is not the first food stand you see (you probably would walk by Central first, 4 stars on Yelp) but we decided to try Quiosc (better rating, smaller) and we are so glad to stopped here. The fried baby octopus was amazing - hand battered, fried twice to order to keep it crispy, all of that right in front of our eyes). The garlic shrimps were great too, the local traditional dish that we all love. If you would prefer the bigger shrimps, order the grilled prawns. Everything is super fresh and very casual. A bottle of cava was 12 euros. Folks here work very hard to deliver attentive service, Muchas gracias!

If you come here once, you WILL be back, day after day. Food is very fresh, affordable, simply delicious, made to order, and most importantly, highly recommended by me. The staff greets you with big smiles, atmosphere is fun. Your stomach will not be big enough to try everything you want to. Even the simple hamburger on roll with cheese is delicious.

Quiosc- the place for grilled seafood!!!

Fresh seafood. Bartop seats. Cava and beer. I'm sold. For our last dinner in Barcelona, we wanted fresh seafood at the Mercat de la Boqueria. We found this seafood eatery at the back of the market and decided to give it a try. We ordered grilled mussels, grilled razor clams, grilled baby squid, Cava and beer. The razor clams were gritty- not recommended, but the other dishes were well executed. The bill came out to about 30€. You can ask for some bread to dip with the olive and lemon drippings from all the grilled seafood ;) This was a great and yummy find where you can appreciate the bustling market and sizzling fresh seafood while taking a swig of that beer or sip of that Cava.

Ate here to experience eating seafood at the Barcelona markets and while everything tasted fresh, nothing I ate here really rocked my taste palate (or as my dining companion put it - won't be back). I took the mixed grill for €28 to be shared and got clams, fish, baby octopus, calamari, big shrimp, razorback clams and mussels to split between two people and glass of cava. The cava tasted weak and watered down, and it was my first time eating Razorbacks and these were so gritty! We had to also ask for bread, they didn't just offer it, so service could have been more hospitable, although food came out pretty quick. Will be back to the markets, but not back to this place.

A quick snack break in between shopping at the Ramblas and Barri Gottic areas. At 5pm, the market was quieter than I had expected. Many stalls were closed including Pinotxo where we had intended to go for Tapas. Scouting what remained, Quiosc was packed while other places in the market was less so. After waiting for 5 minutes, we were seated. We ordered beer, grilled razor clams, grilled mussels, fried anchovies, and tripe. A hearty snack that refueled us and allowed us to catch a brief respite before heading out exploring as tourists. All the dishes taste fine and were beyond my expectations. Quality of seafood high, and shone through the simple prep and cooking of these items.

Really good food with really great service at the market! Shout out to Sonia for being so accommodating to tourists! I'd recommend the Sangria, Fried Baby Squid, Fresh Oysters and the Catalunya Sausage.

    Oysters - €3.5 each
    Jihea P.

We were debating between this Bar Central, the other sit down place within Mercat de Boqueria as there was less wait. We got the seafood for 1 + 2 oysters. These set us back €27. Oysters were really good - but they are pricey at €3.5 each. The seafood for 1 came with grilled baby squids, solo giant grilled prawn, and clams and mussels (including one razer clam). The giant prawn is the winner here. Good for the experience, tasty food, but better value can be found outside the market.

Fun little American beer bar style place in Barcelona…read more I've been here twice, and enjoyed both times! The beer selection is vast and great, I've enjoyed their wheat beer, as well as lagers. The wings are good too, my favs were garlic Parmesan, buffalo & buffalo mild. I love that they offer free water lol This is a great place for groups of about 4-8 anything more and you may not be able to fit on the same table. It's a fun pregame place, and I recommend it.

This is definitely a great spot for anyone into American beer hall vibes while in Barcelona - plenty of seating and TV's throughout to watch games or other things. You order up at the counter, and we just got a pitcher of beer when we went later at night, as the food service had ended. I do kind of wish we could've had the chance to still get some food, as other tables that had some from earlier looked really tasty. Nevertheless, the vibes were great and the beers hit the spot here. What more can I say?! It was bright, airy, and comfortable inside - perfect for hanging out! I think this is a great option - especially for American tourists, but also for just anyone that wants to have a spot that's chill and fun to hang out at. I definitely recommend!
