From the great wood grain basement dark ambience to to the raw, regular bar, and multiple sit-down options, we have tried it all. The allure of trying to find a place down in a basement where you have to find the right elevator was pretty bad ass. The hosts along with the waitresses and bar tenders are always welcoming and knowledgeable about their food and drink. I also think it is cool that you can get lockers to store your expensive liquor for return trips. We often come here for drinks and oysters, because my wife loves oysters and they have a wide range of options that aren't exactly cheap, but don't break the bank for freshness and taste. I only really mark down the rating because the menu has been stale over the years and they used to offer elk that is no longer available. Now call that pretentions or snooty, but I think they could use some unique options to keep the experience moving each time you come in. Also, I feel a restaurant of this caliber should be evolving to match their cool vibe and unique experience. I usually get the Wren house beer but feel the beer optiosn are limiting I also feel like some of their cocktails are overpriced, but they are unique compared to other places, so maybe I am just cheap. So really this rating should be more a 4.5. What really brings you back is the cool art on the wall with a Theodore Roosevelt slant and cool sitting areas like a sofa setting in what looks like it would be his old school library. Don't get me wrong everything I have eaten here has been good, but nothing hearkens back like that elk. This place makes for an amazing tinder date if you are willing to drop that cash and make that impression, come here then hop on over to Valley bar and she will think you are magician of illusive locations if she hasn't already been there.

So yummy! The scallops are served with a light ponzu sauce drizzled over which complimented the tender scallops. Delicious! From the Restaurant Week menu, I chose the crab & Artichoke dip which we love and it isn't typically on their menu. It was so good and I had to ask for some extra toast points because there was so much dip! I also got the stripped bass, which was cooked to perfection although a smaller portion than the one you get from the regular menu. They do bass right! And for dessert, chose the Pumpkin Pot de Creme, which was my first taste of pumpkin for the season. Creamy and so good although I took off most of the whip cream because it was a lot. Overall another wonderful meal at our favorite fish restaurant!

The rajas and frijoles were flavorful. But the best thing on the plate were the quesadillas. I wish they offered it separately. We would've ordered another plate they were that good! The portions were so big, that we ended up taking the rest of the asado to go. We ended up bringing it all the way back to NYC 3 days later and it tasted even better! I loved the whole vibe of the place. Yes, it's tiny but it made you feel like you were eating at a friend's house. The staff were friendly and patient (especially since we were so indecisive). In the last few visits, the overall beer list has leaned more IPAs than any other style. I have noticed a few unique can styles too while perusing. It would be most helpful IMO if cans were organized by style, not by brewery. Kind of creates a little chaos in my brain! Events are on a regular basis in addition to hosting food trucks in their paid parking lot (if you don't pay, you will get towed). There's a decent amount of seating, indoor and outdoor but the best is the 'living room' space which is good for groups of ~10-15.
