I would have preferred to browse on my own however, as opposed to being given the run down of each item I picked up. Eager sales people, that's for sure!

Bath salts and lotions fill the shelves with straw baskets in a way that you need to touch. I would love to design my house with everything in this place. Now prices are a bit higher then an average wear house stocked with but the character of each piece is filled with conversation and years of falling in love with your piece over and over. Beautiful hardwood floors with great wear can tell you that this store has had many visitors walking through and this is a place that I will visit again.

The store's vast collection of material goods is unified under a gorgeous Baroque inspired esthetic. The store is well laid out; however, it seems impossible to take it all in during one visit. There is an overwhelming abundance of things to look at, but an obvious eye for detail and decadence. Affiliated with Abby's Fabric Shop, the store also contains plentiful fabric spools to allude luxury. Bellissimo is rich and a gorgeous spot to explore. Eclectic assortments scatter throughout with shelving situated both high and low. Not a speck of extra space, but enough of it to know that everything has its own place. I was in awe with the store's containment of special little things. From vintage hair picks to a silver engraved cigarillo case. These collections speak stories and it seems impossible not to find something wish-worthy. I instantly became attached to an old style brass candle holder. Tea cups, pocket watches, records, cutlery, furniture, cufflings, toy trucks, literature-- the crop is plentiful and of fantastic quality. The gorgeous Parisian style couch was a show stopper. As was the rustic round wooden table. You get the picture. This would be a fantastic place to visit if you're looking to add a little extra charm to your surroundings. Today, it's still a nice shop in a great location on Dresden Row. The windows make for great lighting and make it easy for something to catch your eye as you stroll by. I do find it borders on overstuffed most of the time though. The front area is nicely staged, but once you walk through to the Queen Street side, you're usually dodging ottomans in order to take a peak. I haven't been nearly as excited with my recent visits simply because I find the styles haven't really updated much over the past few years and the staff haven't been all that welcoming. Still, it's a good spot to find furniture for the downtown condo lifestyle that you won't find at the warehouses.

Today I eyed a marvelous brass and crystal candelabra, wearing a $495 price tag as well as a few rich and gorgeous bureaus. There are pieces dating back to the 1920s, perfectly restored with care, precision and expertise. The store proprietor, Jim McLellan has been working in the restoration business for some 25 years now, so brings much experience to the art of refurbishing antique goods. Many times, it is easier and more efficient to buy a bolt from the store rather than wait for the suppliers in Canada and the US. Went to Dartmouth to return the fabric today and was told to take it back to the Halifax location, Was told that there was no problem returning the fabric, since we are well known customers and usually buy large quantities of material. Was told that it had to be remeasured, which is understandable, since I may have taken an inch of two, which was not the case. Generally try to avoid the Halifax location, although it is located nearby our costuming business. I would rather spend money on tolls and gas to go to Dartmouth rather than deal with the Halifax location. The fabric was accepted, begrudgingly, although I felt that I was seen as something less than a valued customer. I was told that they do not accept returned fabric, since they have done so in the past and there have been bugs. What I am to infer from this comment? We have a large warehouse for the fabric that is clean, humidity controlled and certainly free of pests and bugs. Should I worry about bugs being in the fabric when I am buying from Fabricville? There is no information stating that there are no returns on fabric, aside from no returns on cut fabric. Please make this clear to your customers. In the future, I will shop elsewhere. I will make a point to avoid the Halifax store and can shop for sundries on line and fabric as well. I have never had a bad thing to say about the delivery drivers who come regularly to my door with packages. I learned growing up in a business family that when someone is happy, they may tell one person. If they are unhappy with the service they received they will tell ten people and so on, You have lost of customer, of which you seemingly don't care. This is unfortunate, since retail can hardly afford to disconnect with the paying public.
