Quietech offers one size fits all service. In my experience, they have zero interest in accommodating disabled or elderly people. When components they have sold you fail- they like you to pay for troubleshooting on the bad component, and then when that fails, buy a new one and pay to have it set up. They put a remote client on your desktop but then refuse to work remotely and insist the machine be brought in and left off for days to be dealt with at their convenience. My experience was this: I'm semi homebound and disabled from a neuro disease that affects my action sequence ordering, auditory language processing/visual processing. I initially had a mostly good experience with Quietech and I thought the Tech I worked with (Will) was terrific. The admin of the company, the management and customer service approach is where I have criticism. I wish I didn't - the concept is good, and I like to support WOB's where I can. Things fell apart for me with Quietech when they sent an invoice to a wrong address, kicked me off malware protection for non payment in under 30 days when I never received any notice it was due. They refused to give me a reasonable explanation why the malware couldn't be reinstalled remotely w payment by phone or during a home visit, would not work out a home tech support visit with me that included a bak disk replacement bought over the phone, yelled at me and then fired me as a client because I got overwhelmed after a barrage from Dale speaking to me like I was being a PROBLEM instead of like I was who I am - disabled and trying to sort out what was THEIR mistake and a failure of a bak disk THEY sold me. I hung up with a bad word on Dale after he went off on me. I have apologized for losing my temper, but he to date has not seen fit to own up to his contribution to the conflict. This was followed up with a nasty letter from Melissa formally firing me as a client (as if I would ever use her services again!) accusing me of making HER staff not want to work for HER (huh?) because I am such a difficult client. Yes it is difficult for ME to deal with tech support, with language and visual processing issues. I am a special needs client. Every time I reminded them my disability was a factor in the situation they treated me like I was being high maintenance instead of being appropriate to my actual dilemma, and just charging me for the extra services I need to keep me functional with my set up per my cheerful willingness to pay for extra help. For me as a disabled person trying to still find ways to participate, the whole thing was just unspeakably mean spirited. My civil and sincere communication to Melissa in response to her castigating letter to me has been ignored, my request to be removed from her mailing list has been ignored and she published an article about being treated badly by customer service teams elsewhere and how that never happens to people at her shop (except it does) the day after receiving my reply- which I found actually super funny. Use Quietech at your own risk- they are inconsistent and the management team lacks rationality in various ways that may become difficult for you if you are a client. read more

Melissa and all of her staff are very personable, tech experts, and all know how to explain the intricacies of navigating a computer, device, and the internet in a manner that is understable and makes sense to a technically challenged person (like me!). I am a loyal client of Quietech for several years and have always been very impressed with their service and, as a bonus, their VERY reasonable rates. I recommend them highly as the go to place for all computer needs, I am very incredulous of what is said in a couple of very negative reviews posted here. Based on my personal experiences and of my acquaintances, I would bet that the problem is the customer and not Quietech. In 2020, Quietech Associates offered a workshop regarding online password safety centered on the LastPass Password Manager and App Vault. As the Chamber handles sensitive personal and financial data, I was intrigued and wanted to learn more about this new platform. Bought a computer here and I like it but don't love it. The staff is mostly good but one of the main people that I needed to hire to help with a very specific problem promised she could definitely help. She then postponed our meeting and didn't call. I had to find out for myself and then when the meeting did happen, she didn't know the answer to my issue. It was a business related problem so I ended up losing 9 days and still had no answer. Didn't appreciate that in the slightest, Other members of their staff have been very good in the past. She was not. read more

The nonprofit organization I volunteer with and serve on the Board needed assistance in setting up a free storage drive through Google. We have some tech savvy members, but the setup for this free service turned into a frustrating experience, so I called Quietech and was assured there was a staff person who could assist us and the process would likely not take more than an hour, which translated into a fee of about $100. I told the person quite clearly on the phone that I would have to obtain Board approval for any expenditure over $100, but was reassured the fee would be about that amount. At a first appointment where 3 of us attended the staff person Jacque (not sure of the spelling of his name), could not help us because he said the Google interface had changed and he was no longer familiar with how it worked and gave up after an hour. Once again, though, we were assured that Quietech would not charge us for the hour as they could not complete the setup we needed but that we would get an appointment with Melissa H, the owner, who knew Google and could help. A second meeting yielded no setup success as our acceptance as a nonprofit with TechSoup, a Google team that verifies nonprofits' standing as a bonafide nonprofit, had expired and we would have to reapply with tax (IRS) documents once again. So we did and gained the status acceptance a second time. After that meeting and in the meantime Quietech moved to a new location and we waited for a next appointment. Yesterday we had that appointment with Melissa, which lasted one hour. She helped us get set up with Google Workspace, but I and two other members of our organization were shocked when we were presented with a bill of just over $300. I protested that this was far above what we had been told the charge would be, but Melissa insisted that phone calls she'd had with one of our members ratcheted up the bill to that amount. She would not back down and so we paid, but I will never return to Quietech, nor will I recommend Quietech to anyone in need of computer assistance. I think we were misled from the get-go about the efficiency of their work (an hour appointment at the start that produces nothing) and most importantly how much we would be billed, not to mention the guarantee there would be no charge for time that produced no resolution to our problem. $300 is an outrageous fee for one hour with Melissa--the hour that finally produced a result. Beware of a business that is that money hungry that they have no scruples about previous promises made. read more

I had recently set up Starlink but did not have enough signal to get internet throughout the house. Melissa, the owner, a very lovely lady came out, on time, to access the situation. It took a while trying to set up the Linksys mesh, which took a couple of visits due to malfunctioning nodes, plus, working with Best Buy to get working equipment. I agree with Barna, Melissa is committed to doing a good job. There are still some problems, however, I'm sure that Melissa won't stop until all the "glitches" are gone. On one occasion, I needed to replace the battery on my iPhone and, on two occasions, the glass cover on my phone cracked. They were very clear on what services they can perform, including timeline and cost. They also gave additional information to help me prevent future problems with my phone. I received timely and effective computer repair at Quietech. My only issue was, my computer/laptop was not dusted/cleaned upon return and a piece of my laptop that was removed for the repair was broken off upon return. It isn't a major piece, just a rubber buffer strip along the bottom of my laptop. Lastly, A couple of customer identifying stickers were left adhered to my battery cable and bottom of my laptop. It isn't a BIG deal it would just be nice to have my equipment back in top-notch shape! The price for the repair made was a tad steep as well. I had a bent fan house and was charged only for labor but it was still expensive. My feeling is, an EXCELLENT review requires getting back my equipment in better shape than what I dropped off AND pricing should reflect customer expectations. The staff was great, however; friendly, attentive, and working efficiently during CV-19 restrictions. I heard today from the owner via email, that some customers are "abusing," her staff!! I was horrified to hear this...People of Grass Valley, wise up!! Treat people with kindness and CV-19 will end much sooner. So sorry people have been belligerent, and I feel that unfortunately, a lot of people are taking advantage of workers/businesses remaining open. read more

I paid Quietech $120 for a service call for all of 10 minutes. I received a cable Melissa told me I could try out. They wanted to charge me $40 for the cable. Melissa told me I could order 1 from Amazon (for $20) and return theirs. Which I did. I mailed their cable back to them. They now continue to harass me and are threatening to turn me over to collections. They have added all kinds of BS charges and now the invoice is up to $105.71. This is NOTHING short of extortion and harassment. Not only would I NOT recommend them. I would actively encourage anyone to not do business with them. read more

I had a scheduled appointment from 10:30-12 for an iPhone screen repair. It was paid for at time of scheduling. I arrived at the precise time only to be told that they would need to schedule another pick up time because they close from 12-1. Additionally, because they had an appointment at 1, I would need to come back at 2:30. I told them that I lived 35miles away and that was not possible. I was told that I could speak with the owner. The owner kept me waiting 10 minutes. Then she informed me that i would need to reschedule because this discussion had cut into my appointment time. When I told her that this was unacceptable, she told me that she no longer wanted to do the work. I lost an entire half of my work day over this. read more

I dropped my iPhone X on the bathroom floor. My screen was clearly damaged--a weird bluish light showed through on the left-hand side. Thought my $1000 phone was kaput. I found these people, who are conveniently located near my house. An hour and a half and $169 later, I picked up the phone It works perfectly and looks great. Very patient. I had to have my computer checked out because it stopped working. Unfortunately, my computer is so old and outdated it wasn't cost effective to have it repaired. They looked at my computer at no charge and it was really nice to have someone just tell you how it is instead of having the run around. All the staff were extremely considerate and knowledgeable. I was having problems with my phone that was in such bad shape I could not even transfer my data to a newer phone. Quietech implemented a great solution for reasonable price to solve my issue. I would avoid having repairs done by them, in particularly cellular phone repairs. I had my iPhone 10 screen replaced and the phone seemed to have some issues with the sensitivity of the touch but I chalked it up to the fact that it was likely an aftermarket screen that didn't work exactly like the original. Six weeks after having the screen replaced, the screen turned green and glitchy. I took the phone back to them and they then had a sign on the door that said they were no longer working on phones. I took the phone in anyways, explained what was going on and was told that they only had a 30 day warranty, and that likely I was experiencing a problem that was different than the original problem. No, the cheap screen you installed failed.....I should have just taken it to Apple. Live and learn. Realize that there warranty is the tailgate type.... read more

They diagnosed it for me in just a few hours and then had several good options for me to repair it from a very inexpensive swap with used parts to a full rebuild. My iPhone battery was replaced by Quietech in September 2018. That battery was worse than the one it replaced. Ok, a bad one, it happens. I took my phone back to Quietech and told them what was happening, they said they would replace the battery again. When I got my phone back the battery was still not charging properly or holding a charge long. I called and was told to fully charge the battery without disconnecting then use it and let it drain completely, do that twice. Ok, did that it didn't help much. Fast forward to about a week ago the battery was running out of charge very quickly, in the last two days in about an hour. This morning I noticed that my phone was expanding out of its outer shell...the screen was pulling away from the sides of the phone because the battery was expanding. As Quietech is closed on the weekends I had to travel out of town to have it checked someplace else. Conclusion: my phone was ruined eight months to the day after I had the after market battery installed at Quietech. They may know how to repair computers or iPhones but what good is their knowledge or abilities if they use questionable or defective inferior replacement parts. One bad battery in a batch might slip by quality control but two in one batch is a BIG PROBLEM. read more
