We were EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with Quicksilver. This was our first time to Maui and we were excited to get the opportunity to go on a boat and to SNORKEL ON LANAI. (That would have been the highlight of our trip). Upon boarding the boat, everything was fine; we were excited. Within 30-45 minutes the captain announced that THEY CANNOT GO TO LANAI DUE TO CHOPPY WATERS.....Our hearts dropped, What a disappointment...Instead, they took us to TURTLE TOWN... Still disappointed, we tried to enjoy the time..We saw a few turtles; we tried to make the most out of it, but IT WAS NOT LANAI. The day before, we rode our bikes to Turtle Town...and we did that without paying $150 per person. WE Believe that Quicksilver misrepresented themselves and WE deserve a REFUND. One of the best experiences in Maui! We got a recommendation for this snorkeling tour in Lanai from Kelly at Maui Tickets for Less and it was definitely a highlight of our trip. The ride itself was around 3 hours in total, and an hour and a bit of snorkeling time and an hour or so of waiting before we depart from the pier - totaling at around 5.5 hours. The crew was extremely friendly and helpful. They really went out of the way to ensure the passengers were comfortable and kept us in great spirits even during the boat ride. I would recommend sitting in the upper deck in the covered part as it gets quite sunny. You basically pick your spot when you get on and that's your spot for the entire trip. They offer breakfast and lunch as well, we didn't expect much but the lunch was actually delicious - pulled pork or teriyaki chicken burger with coleslaw. Please don't be concerned about snorkeling even if you are a first-timer, there were lots of children and older adults as well, some of them were not swimmers and the crew provided great instruction and many options for floatation devices. They also really made sure that everyone was safe and checked in with everyone throughout the trip. Beer and cocktails were offered during the return trip too, at $2 each! I would highly recommend checking this excursion out when you are in Maui - it's only a half-day trip and you can spend the rest of the day exploring Lahaina. This trip was offered to me free of charge after we were not allowed to board our orginal tour "Calypso, Molkini & Turtle town". Please see my previous review. I sent Calypso a copy of my reviw on their Facebook page and they were aplolgetic, and offered us another tour free of charge. We were not in the mood to wake up at 5am again for the Molikin tour so they offered us a dinner cruz or a short tour to turtle town leaving from Lahine, closer to our hotel. I knew we wouldn't make it to turtle town, epecially leaving at 12:30, the winds would make sure of that, but we took the tour anyway. As for the tour, it was nice for what it was. We didn't go to turtle town but acutally a spot about 10mins from our hotel, lol! We could of driven there and stayed longer, oh well. Being out on the boat was nice, we got an unexpected treat, dolphins! The crew was VERY FRIENDLY, we went to Cliff house or Cliff rock bay? A little too small for our size group, but otherwise a nice spot. I got to see a turtle and amazingly had it all to myself for a few mins before someone else spotted it. Layla enjoyed the slide. Passed on the hotdog....suggestion, all beef please! Cookies were bomb! It wasn't the tour we were orginally expecting and still a little disappointed, but I appreciate Calypso resonding to our oringal review and kudows for trying to fix the issue. Highlight of our trip! We were fortunate to have timed our trip perfectly so we got to go to Lanai. The wind had canceled trips earlier in the week but we made it out. Saw Lanai's pod of Spinner Dolphins on our way out. It was about a 2 hour trip to the island but Captain Greg & crew & the gorgeous scenery kept us entertained. We had the best sunrise of our trip on the ride out -incredible. We only got to snorkel for about an hour & would've preferred more time but the snorkeling was Crystal-clear, large variety of fish & healthy looking reefs. On the ride back, we caught mom & new babe Humpback whales-extraordinary. Couldn't have been a better day. No one got seasick, water was breathtaking. Crew was professional, attentive, & kind. Nice boat with a good staff. We did a day snorkel trip out to Lanai. We ended up on the sheltered end of the island because of seas and wind, so we only did one spot instead of two, but the reasoning was solid. The boat is very comfortable (especially with the small crowd we had on board) and the food was actually very tasty, something I was not expecting from my other experiences on board. Plus, beer and cocktails are about as cheap and you are going to get on the island. read more

I'm so glad I went snorkeling with Quicksilver during my stay in Maui. The check-in time was 6:45 AM which was pretty early, and it was tough to find the slip because it was at the opposite end of the harbor, but it was well worth it! The snorkeling at Molokini Crater was perfect and full of many colorful fish. The crew was friendly, entertaining, and helpful. You can rent wet suits for $10 on board, which I would highly recommend because they kept us comfortable and warm during snorkeling. If you feel seasick, they sell Dramamine as well. They also have swim noodles if you're not the strongest swimmer or just feel like floating along. The breakfast and lunch spreads were nice and filling. Definitely try the danishes, eggs, and juices (passion orange guava and pineapple). They also have homemade cookies that they hand out later! Because of bad weather, we weren't able to go to Turtle Town, but no other tours got to go either. To make up for it, our crew took us out whale watching, as it was in season. We spotted 15 whales, and our last sighting included two whales swimming side by side! It was incredible. Overall a great trip! read more

I had the best snorkeling experience at the Quicksilver! In my last visit to Maui, my husband, mom and I went on a snorkeling tour to Lanai. We booked the tickets on the phone. We showed up on time and soon we left. On our way to Lanai, we saw some whales that come to Hawaii to deliver their baby whales! The crew at the Quicksilver was just amazing!! They were really nice and super sweet to my mom (who doesn't speak English, and does not know how to swim). On your way to there, you see whales, they tell you some stories and give you some information about the whales. We had a lady captain and she was awesome! Super fun! We anchored in beautiful deep waters, then the crew provide us with snorkel gear, floating equipment, and fins. There was a photographer in the crew and he was there to capture the good moments. You could also rent a go pro to have memories of this amazing experience. Snorkeling was amazing! I loved it!! I saw so many fishes! When we all came back the lunch was served and it was delicious! We had pulled pork sandwiches, macaroni salad and veggies and fruit option. They had vegan friendly option, which I think is cool. After the snorkeling and on your way back, you can buy some adult drinks. the water is sharper but the crew manages to get to you with your drink, they keep the boat super clean at all times! The staff were very friendly and helpful, we didn't see any whale for our first visit, and they offered us the second chance it was amazing experiences we saw many whales, mother/baby, adults playing! The only thing confused us was we booked the tour from viator it mentioned tour include unlimited soda and juice, and the crew member said it was wrong information, the beverage needs to pay for $2. Anyway, we are here to see whales not drink, but will recommend quicksilver to reach out Viator to clarify. read more

We took a dinner cruise which we very much enjoyed. No need to rush to check-in early because seating is pre-assigned, not first come. We were fortunate to be seated in the lower deck at the front of the boat, where there were only two tables, open air, each holding a party of four. From what we could tell, the upper deck seating were nice seats to have also. But those seated inside the lower deck did not appear to have great seats. As for our experience, we rate a five because we had the best table and view. Our primary server was Dee Dee who was awesome and very attentive to our needs for food, drink refills, etc. read more

We took their snorkel tour and their whalewatching tours. Both were great. Crew is awesome. We had the all female crew for the whale watching tour. They were the best. When we went back for the snorkel tour - we had the same captain. If you want to spend more time watching whale I highly recommend the stand-alone whalewatching tour. For the snorkel trip - staff was great too. They had 3 staff on lifeboards around the perimeter of the area we were snorkeling in. They were all friendly and gave sufficient instructions to get even newbies into the water. read more

My one star (would be less if it could be) was because of the HORRIBLY rude and pushy chick that tried to force us to have our picture taken before we even boarded the boat. She got in a fight with me because I do NOT want my picture taken. Especially with the most boring a$$ life ring I have EVER seen. What idiot thinks it is a good idea to yell at people to have their picture taken and then tell them they can't even board the boat until they do? (Just walk on the boat. Ignore that pushy "lady" and just walk straight on the boat without standing in that long line of idiots waiting to have their picture taken with a life ring that would be decorated better if it was done by a monkey.) I would absolutely book this tour again, but I would walk by that disgusting individual and enjoy my trip without the pressure sales tactic. Best Tour ever!!!!! They have a pretty big boat, but usually it's not overcrowded and I totally recommend taking the tour in the early morning as this one is the best. They find the whales after about 20 minutes and stay with them for 2 hours (sometimes they go to different places too). It was my first whale watch but I doubt that I'll ever see so many whales that close. read more

The boat tour was great we were able to get some whale action so that was nice. the weather was lovely and the crew members were awesome, always asking us if we needed water or drinks. Since Lahaina was closed we departed from Ma'alaea Harbor. If you get motion sickness I recommend taking Dramamine or Bonine 30 min before boarding the boat. Loved, loved, loved it. We had such an amazing experience the staff was so awesome and friendly. We got there really early so we got the best seats. If you sit in the lower deck it's more likely that you will get sea sick and you will be close go the stinky bathrooms. Let me also add that the engine will be so loud you won't be able to communicate with out yelling. I just happened to pass by. I would recommend renting a ser suit they will keep you warm. Oh and bring coral safe sunscreen. I advice to take your own snacks as they give you very limited food, do not wait until the line dies down as they will run out of good and you may not get what you want. read more

We took this snorkeling cruise across the channel to the far side of Lanai'i on February 15th (2022). As Maui residents we have taken this trip before on Quicksilver & always been pleased. On this trip we took friends from the mainland and what a show they enjoyed! Captain Paul was a local who explained that he had no accent because his mother was an English teacher. As another ETK (English Teacher's Kid) I could identify! I'm embarrassed to admit I was horribly seasick, WITH a patch on, for the only time in recorded history, but it certainly had nothing to do with his piloting of our vessel; it couldn't have been better. We could have taken a straight shot across the channel, but instead we spent a delightful morning zigzagging from interesting whale to interesting whale: moms playing with their calves, a competition pod where #2 in line clearly got tired of the the lead male's repeated tail slaps with fully half of his long body out of the water each time. When he rammed him, hard, it was with enough force that we could hear the impact from under water! If the snorkeling was less than fabulous (as I am told); COLD on the far side of Lanai'i, the trip home certainly made up for it. Our captain spotted a false killer whale (actually a large species of dolphin); a rare creature to spot in itself. But then things got even more strange and exciting. Two bottle-nosed dolphins had been following Quicksilver and then a "teenaged" Humpback whale appeared. With Cap't Paul on the bridge shouting to his crew to be getting photos and continually telling us what we were seeing ....and explaining how rare it was - a true National Geographic moment.... the three different species began to interact! While keeping safely distant so there was absolutely no chance that we would interrupt this incredibly rare event, our wonderful captain managed to get us a view of the three different species actually playing together! There was no question, from their movements, that they were enjoying their interaction & that it was friendly &, yes, playful with the whale making coy little sideways "swishy" movements with her tail. I've been across that channel before, several times. I've been over to Lanai'i snorkeling, several times. But never before have I done either with a man at the helm who showed such true regard, love & honor for the wonders of Maui & the wildlife we are blessed to find in our waters. It was an incredible experience that I hope everyone aboard realized they will probably never see equaled. And Mahalo nui loa, Quicksilver, for having someone of this quality & sensitivity at the helm. It was an awesome experience. (Even though I've never been sicker in my life!). We went on the Lanai morning tour, BUT WE DID NOT GO TO LANAI. Due to high winds, we were re- routed to a snorkeling spot just off the coast near Kapalua with few fish and poor visibility. For paying $150 per person, we went to a place we could have driven to in 10 minutes from Lahaina. I realize that weather conditions cannot be foreseen. However when you do not get the trip you were expecting or paid for, a company with good customer service might have provided a discount or a voucher for a future tour. Instead, they hide behind the fine print on the voucher. I called the company yesterday and have yet to hear back from management. I will definitely not book through this company again- buyer beware. Update- management reached out to me within an hour after writing this review. They rectified this situation and were empathetic to our experience. It was a grand boat with lots of space. The trip wasn't over booked so there wasnt any lack of seats. It had waterslides, dumping locations on the second floor and shower hoses for us to wash off. The food was all you can eat style with Costco croissant sandwiches and pulled pork sandwiches The service was great and Captain was fun. They supplied us with free sunscreen and even gave out lessons for first time snorkelers. Normally i would have given then a 4 star rating but my disappointment was the snorkeling. The snorkeling gear was included and worked great but the location for snorkeling was disappointing. Overall what i paid for was a place to snorkel with many tropical fishes like the pictures but there was few to see and fewer take pictures of. So if you came here for that fishes and nothing more than this is not the location to snorkel. read more

My friend and I were very excited to book an excursion with Quicksilver for an afternoon "turtle town" snorkeling out of Lahaina Harbor. We were and are extremely disappointed in the experience provided. We were not taken to Turtle Town as advertised. We were taken south towards Olowalu. We snorkeled in a reef that was mostly dying or dead. We saw about 5 different types of fish in the reef and that was it. The snorkel report through the snorkel store rated south shore the lowest visibility of any snorkeling on Monday. We have snorkeled in beautiful reefs with dozens of fish, turtles, sharks, and multi colored coral and the experience we were provided was very inadequate for $89. The cruise was supposed to provide lunch and the "lunch" that was provided was a hotdog without a bun as the crew forgot to pack the buns. This is not lunch. As we were departing the boat, my friend asked one of the crew about where they usually snorkel and the crew member called the reef that we snorkeled in "pristine". I've snorkeled in many reefs off of Maui and this was the furthest from pristine. Coral was mostly bleached and dead and it was not full of life the way healthy reefs look. We are extremely disappointed. read more

We went on the cruise today, and instead of calling it the snorkel cruise I would call it the vomit cruise. I have never seen so many people vomit at one time. , I even saw someone vomit on another person in a different party. I started laughing because I couldn't believe all the vomiting that took place . At least 10 percent of 110 people that were on the the boat vomited, it was so disgusting. Then for the snorkel part I was very disappointed because they only let you snorkel in a small spot and we did not see many fish at all. Waste of money, a cattle call, and a cruise full of vomit. Would I go again no way, if you go made sure to take some Dramamine I highly advise this and bring some for the party that sits next to you so you do not get vomited on either. read more

Fun and energetic crew! One crew member in particular, Molly, the photographer on board went out of her way to make sure she got everyone's photos in the water. Even after most of us were all on board Molly jumped back into the water to get a few more pictures for people. We enjoyed our whole trip onboard the Quicksilver! The Lanai trip is a scam. They said the water was too rough to go there so they took us to a couple of snorkel spots on the north end of Maui. I saw they did the same thing the following day. It is a lot less fuel for the boat but the customer is getting ripped off. The crew was nice and the drinks were $3 so a good price. But, I would not recommend this tour. read more

We just did the Lanai trip with seven adults and six kids age 6 months to 11 years. The surge was South surge was bad in Lanai so we North up the coast. We did two fun snorkels. The staff were great with the kids. Seriously, they treated the kids super great. Breakfast and lunch were great. Cold beers just $2. We had a great day with a great crew and great boat. Everyone on board was great - Jamieson and Ash were the 2 that stood out to us. Jamieson took really good care and helped my 74 year old mother getting all the necessary flotation that she could snorkel as well. This excursion was a HUGE highlight of our vacation. We loved seeing all the dolphins (there were around 25 of them swimming) and snorkeling with the sea turtles was an awesome experience. We also had a blast jumping off the boat and sliding down the slide. I think we were the last family in the water, we didn't want to leave. read more
