This place has been around for decades and we used to come here when I was in college many years ago. The food was great back then and it is still the same great, quick Chinese food. The interior is kind of dark small but they offer patio seating in front. We ordered lunch items at the counter like Garlic chicken n house special chicken. It comes with rice, a dumpling, and soup or salad. It is reasonably priced. The portions were good; my son and I couldn't finish it. That's a good sign. The best thing about this place was they are fast or shall we say QUICK!! Lol! They had us in, stuffed and out of the restaurant within 15 minutes. Ummmm, by far the BEST black bean chicken I've ever had as well as house fried rice! What a happy surprise. Initially, we were headed over to Tio Leo's and took the backroads from RB when the co-habby noticed the "Quick Wok" sign. Hmmmmm. Unfortunately, the reviews for Tio Leo's were less than favorable so we decided to chance it and this "new to us" place instead for dinner after we read some glowing reviews. We were initially put off at feeling rushed to order so we hurriedly made our selections, paid at the register and awaited our food. I feel like I can never go wrong with these two items and I must say, I was extremely pleased when the food arrived. They really are "quick" like their namesake and our dishes came out lightning fast. I must warn you that the reason I liked these dishes so much is that they almost had a thai-like quality to them; the fried rice especially. It was darker in color, a tad more moist, smoky and packed with so much flavor and a variety of meat and seafood. I smiled and sighed in happiness after my first bite. The black bean chicken had the signature saltiness but was crispy as well with a taste similar to the house special chicken from the chain restaurant, Pick Up Stix. But a million times better. Definitely not your traditional black bean chicken but that's exactly what I loved about it. It was slightly sweet, with a rich dark sauce and had incredible flavor. I'm actually craving those dishes as we speak and can't wait to sample their pan-fried noodles and other classic dishes. Their sweet and sour soup is my favorite, the small size is a big portion and you could eat the entire container for a meal. Perfect taste and includes some chicken and shrimp along with the vegetables. Orange tofu exceeded expectations! Super tasty sauce, crunchy tofu and the green onions are delicious. This place is a hidden gem. I was in this complex and a friend decided to get a quick bite until I got done with my work. And man it's such an amazing find. It's a small restaurant located at 10175 Rancho Carmel Dr. #104 San Diego off the 15& 56 fwy . I called ahead to place my lunch order and saw a variety of different lunches that comes with rice, fried dumpling , soup or salad. I went with the sweet & sour chicken. Upon arrival, I noticed the kitchen was in the open for customers can see the food being cooked, which is pretty cool. The lady whom helped me may have been the owner and gave me my order. She seemed nice and friendly. The food was still hot from the bag so it's definitely was cooked fresh. Once I got to work to try this meal out, I noticed a sauce had spilled everywhere in the bag. I found out it came from the salad container. I suggest that you get soup instead, or ask for dressing on the side or it will certainly cause a sticky mess. The sweet & sour chicken looked really good and tasted flavorful. The chicken was crunchy on outside and moist and delicious inside. It was perfectly made I must say. We went online to their website to choose our orders for NYE and it came to just under $100, but when we ordered and I asked for pricing I was quoted more than $140! When I actually collected the order it was revised to $127, but then I felt guilted into leaving a 15% tip when I had to swipe my credit card and got the automatic tip, so I ended up paying almost $148 anyway. I've been coming here for over a decade. So glad to see this family business carry on. Their prices are cheaper than most, and the entire family including the now grown up son all know how to work the Wok equally well. I also really like how accommodating they are when making the food. They never complain or try to justify by saying, "This is how the dish is made, we can't change it or it's not the same dish anymore." For the past 10yrs, I haven't ordered anything but the house special chicken. I wok cook at home myself and while I know the primary ingredients going into this dish, I lack the countless hours of experience they have frying up the chicken to perfection and glazing it without burning the garlic and the sugar. The flavor wasn't that bad but it came with about 2 McDonald's chicken nuggets worth of chicken. Definitely not worth $10. Perhaps it was an error on their part.
