We were told nothing could be found AND PUT US BACK ON THE ROAD WITH A BROKEN AXLE. I've been in the car world for many years and I am not a dummy. The repair professionals at a reputable repair shop were disgusted that this incredibly damaged vehicle was given a gold star for safety by Newberg Tire and the brake job 2.0 (this time with correct parts!) plus many hours and other replacement parts later cost $2300+. Clearly oblivious (uncaring?) to the risk of driving 5 children in a car with a broken axle up a large hill to work in Portland and many hundreds of highway miles per week, Steve nickeled and dimed us over "the wear and tear on the (incorrect) brake pads" in negotiating a reasonable offer for the glaring lawsuit risk that is their shoddy work. He didn't return phone calls and deflected like a pro when asked how this oversight was both allowed and defended in his business. I'm not typically an angry review writer, but my family of mechanics would NEVER conduct their business this way.

I was told that it needed a new water pump and the total would be $977. I decided to move forward because I was hours from home with 2 kids. At 3:00 I called to check in again. I was told that the wrong pump was delivered. Once I saw the purchase order that matched the part number delivered, it was clear that they had ordered the wrong part. I was told "they look really similar". I had lost trust once they tried to cover up their error and I decided to get a 2nd opinion since we would be stuck in town overnight. Rick's charged me $544 despite their error and despite not replacing the pump. I moved on to another mechanic, Orion's, who assessed that the head was cracked and the car needed much more work than a new pump. He said that if I had tried to drive home with a new pump the car would have seized up. My kids and I could have been stranded. Orion's only charged me $134 and I was finally able to get tow and a rental car to get my children home once we had proper answers.

That shop owner recommended Tyler's Automotive in Newberg as he had sent a few customers needing help there with good reports. II scheduled the oil change online for a day later at noon, and waited about 90 minutes for the service. They only charged me $40 for labor and with 8 quarts of synthetic oil it was under $200, much cheaper than the dealership. I asked them to check the AdBlue diesel additive which was low so they topped it up. They also changed the battery in my key fob when I mentioned it was acting funny. I overheard several conversations with other customers while I waited and they were courteous and detailed in their explanations. I plan to take our cars there for service whenever we're in Dundee visiting family.
