My furnace stopped working during the cold spell in the bay area a few weeks ago. I was pretty sure it was the ignitor based on the troubleshooting tips in the brochure but since it involved gas I didn't want to take any risks so I hired a professional. I found Quick Appliance Service on the Bryant Furnace corporation's website. They were listed as an authorized dealer and had an icon noting this company was certified. I immediately turned to Yelp to check their reviews. The lady who answered the phone when I made my appointment was friendly. She said there are no "free estimates" and that it would cost $50 to have Prospero to come out. Prospero was 10-15 minutes early and called me before he headed over. When he arrived he quoted me a price to check out the furnace. (I can't remember what it was) It did turn out to be a cracked ignitor and he charged me $335 which included labor, parts. (Includes $50 discount for writing a check vs credit card). A week later the company called to follow-up on my appointment and to see if everything was OK. read more

Called Quick Appliance for problem. We've been using them 6 years - for oven, dishwasher, refrigerator. This time for dryer. I called 9:30, Prospero was here at 2:30, and it was fixed by 4. Required taking the dryer completely apart and going to San Carlos for part. Excellent, quick service, reasonable price. UPDATE: May, 2016. Called Quick for problem with Viking oven. Prospero was here that afternoon, and got Viking parts to fix it next day. We have been using Quick for many years, and cannot recommend them too highly. See my first review below. read more

Arrived same day as called for assessment. Had a clogged dishwasher, simple fix via new vent hose. Professional and timely service. Price is comparable to other service providers I quoted. Service was good. Edited 5/21/14 - 5 stars - Prospero called me after reading my review (repair guy). He stated there was a miscommunication and that I would only be charged for the price of the pump, not double labor costs. And he gave me 3 months to replace the pump at only the cost of the part, not extra labor. So I'll change my review to 5 stars to help him out. And I'll be calling him for any further repairs if needed. Reason for 4 stars - I called about the dishwasher being clogged, so that was fixed. However my pump was in need of replacing as well....I was going to be charged double labor if repair guy changed out pump....Reason you ask? Repair guy stated I didn't call him to replace the pump, just for the clog. So he was going to charge me double work rate and not just for the new pump part? Really? We just fixed the vent problem and will wait on the pump. Make sure your explanation is clear and check the receipt. Don't get overcharged for service. read more

Never seems like a pluming problem is anything but an emergency, and we appreciate the super-fast response time and easy availability of Quick Appliance! The water heater was becoming independent and taking vacations on us without notice - can't have that when you NEED hot water early in the AM before work! Our Vinotheque wine cooler broke down. It was out of warranty by a few months, and the manufacturer referred us to Quick Appliance. Brandy setup the appointment and kept calling with updates to the technician's schedule. The technician (Ali) was friendly and professional, quickly isolated the problem, and returned a couple days later with the necessary parts to complete the repair. The main thing that impressed me is that they did exactly what they said they would do, there was no hassle or surprises. They even apologized for being a little early! It's been a couple months now and the wine cooler is still running fine. I would definitely call them in the future for other appliance repairs. read more

My Viking refrigerator was leaky, causing my hardwood flooring and my cabinetry to warp. I found these guys doing a search on Google. I called and reached a human right away. To my delight, Prospero was able to get me into his schedule that very same day. You know how some folks give you a two hour window, have you wait and wait, and then show up towards the very end of that window? Well, not Propero. When the guy told me that he'll be by between noon and 2pm, he calls me up at 11:30am to let me know that he's on his way. Awesome! Prospero gets down to business and he's discovered that a drainage pipe was clogged and some other part needed to be replaced. He told me right away how much the part was going to cost plus labor. I gave him the green light and he did his thing. All in all, Prospero was professional and courteous. I would definitely call on QAS again the next time any of my appliances act up. read more

I work all week so only have time to do laundry on the weekends. I'd washed one load, put it in the dryer and started the second load when I discovered the dryer wasn't working! So here I am on a Saturday with two loads of wet laundry and no dryer or line to hang it out on. I found Quick Appliance Service here in Yelp. They didn't have the highest rating, but of those who worked on Saturday, they did so being desperate I gave them a shot and got an appointment for between 5-6. Around 4 I got a phone call telling me they could be here EARLY! Prospero arrived around 4:25 and dug right in taking apart the dryer. Inside he found coins, a Costco card, and about a ton of lint and dog fur that had somehow made it past the lint trap into the workings of the dryer. He cut off the fur and hair that had wrapped around the gears and had it all put back together and working again within 45 minutes. He told me he didn't think it was the motor, just things in the way keeping it from turning but if I had any further problems, give him a call and he'd order a new motor. Well, 3 loads later and it's still working perfectly! My experience with Quick Appliance Service was stellar and I will definitely call on them again. read more

Great communication, great service, great pricing. Washing machine went out on a Friday. Called Sears (place of purchase 15 years ago) and they couldn't come out until Wednesday, and it was going to be $129 for the visit plus parts. My wife called Quick Appliance on Saturday, and they were out the same day. Michael was on time, quickly identified the problem, had the parts, and was out the door in about an hour. Washer works as good as new. If we have any future appliance problems, we'll be calling these guys first. read more

Michael from Quick Appliance fixed our washing machine. He found lots of small (what look to be) bamboo sticks stuck in the water pump. Which fried the water pump and got stuck in the drain line as well. Guess I'll have to talk to my wife and kids about that. Pros: Immediate appt. available and arrived on time. Dishwasher fixed. Cons: Part pricing is ridiculously high. I had a drain pump on my dishwasher replaced and was charged 130.00 while the online retail price is 80.00. I asked if the repairman had looked up the wrong part but he just shrugged his shoulders. Plus I got charged 180 for 1.5hrs work? Seriously, I should have just bought a new dishwasher... If you have a bosh dishwasher and it turns on but doesn't cycle, try the drain motor (you need to remove the door to access this service area). read more

I rarely write reviews and am not into bashing companies. Call another company before using these guys. My refrigerator broke and I checked Yelp and decided to use them. They were responsive and nice. They also wanted to charge me 3 times more than I ended up paying to fix my fridge. It went from $600 to $150. If you are concerned about price. Use someone else. The part charges were 3-4 times higher and they called me the next day urging me to fix it now. I'm so glad I waited another day and used Ace Appliance in Sunnyvale. Update 12/30/13 I just read the response by Prospero from Quick Appliance. As I wrote previously, he was very nice. My frustrations and questions are: 1. Why did quote me $390 to replace the timer and defrost thermostat, when Ace Appliance only charged me $150? 2. Why did you think I needed a new heater when I didn't? I'm not accusing them of being crooks. I think Prospero had honest intentions and did his best. Maybe he didn't have enough experience? I don't know. Bottom line is I did not need a heater ($202) and went from $390 to $150 for the timer and thermostat. That's $592 vs. $150, a savings of $442! You be the judge. Then call Tom at Ace Appliance. Also, my fridge (and heater part) is still working great! read more

My refrigerator stopped working sometime in the middle of the night on the 4th of July. The next day, I used google to search for Appliance Repair, Santa Clara and up popped Quick Appliance Service. When I called the woman who helped me schedule an appointment was friendly, efficient and asked my permission to place me on hold. We even joked around a little about the spelling of my name. She was great. And she went out of her way to make sure I got an appointment the same day. The repairman showed up in the middle of the two hour window I had been given. He was polite and respectful. He described everything he was going to do. I asked questions about the repair and the parts out of interest and he took the time to explain it in a way that I could understand. He was efficient and friendly. At the end he asked me to kindly complete a survey at their website because they are always looking for ways to improve the customer service. We called Quick Appliance to fix a broken laundry dryer. With 3 kids, we needed a repair quickly, and they were able to come much quicker than others we called. They were very professional, polite, and explained my problem clearly. The needed to go and get a part, and they didn't charge for the time to get it, only the part itself and installation. I wouldn't say they were cheap, but their prices seemed competitive and reasonable, and well worth the performance. read more

Very unreliable! Made an appointment. Took time off work for the two hour window. Received a call an hour into the 2 hours and was told the guy was running late. It would be another HOUR. I just received a call that since it was so late, it ran into the next two hour block! So I took time off work to wait for a repair person for 2 hours and they wanted me to wait for 4 hours! Told them to cancel it! If they can't figure out how to get to an appointment on time, then I will find a repair company that can figure it out. read more

My wife and I noticed that our fridge was not staying cool, so we called Quick Appliance. Their number was on our fridge since we used them about 7 years ago based on a recommendation from a neighbor and were very happy with their service then. This time Prospero was our service technician, and we were once again very happy with the service. He arrived on time, diagnosed the problem, had the necessary parts, and completed the repair in one visit. My washer broke and I needed someone to fix it right away. This place was awesome. They were in contact with me the entire time, and kept me updated. They came out the very next day, and the fact that their hours are from 7am to 10pm really helps when you work and don't get home until late. Prospero came out and was very professional and honest. He even cleaned up and swept my floor after he was done. He even asked for something to put down on the floor so he wouldn't get anything on the rug. That was cool, as I didn't think of that. I had trouble with a Sub Zero wine frig. They had to come out 3 times because it would keep shutting down. Finally,they suggested a certified Sub Zero tech come out and the same thing happened. After 6-7 visits by 3 different people they pulled it out and found all kinds of water issues. It had to be replaced! The people at Quick Appliance were so nice and very prompt everytime I called-again. Since they could not fix it they refunded ALL my money that I paid. Now that is service! Awful, awful experience. Used these folks about a year ago and had a wonderful experience, so not sure what happened. Perhaps new ownership? If you fancy getting swindled, belittled, and treated rudely, Quick Appliance is for you. I own a business, so our washer and dryer get a lot of use. Our washer started leaking water. Called quick appliance, and they sent someone out the next day. Carlos was our technician, and we had a less than stellar experience with him. He was rude, dismissive, and acted like we were putting him out by being in his workspace. He diagnosed the issue, and informed us that he would be back in 2 or 3 days, as soon as the parts came in. He came back, installed the parts, and told us we should be good to go. We asked him to also perform routine maintenance on our dryer, as it gets clogged with hair and lint due to heavy use. He performed the service, and was on his way ($300+ later). The next day, our washer malfunctioned again. A different issue this time, but it was also still leaking. We discovered Carlos had forgotten to reattach the drain-tube, and the water was spilling out all over the floor. We called quick appliance again, and informed them we were still having issues, and they sent out a different technician (at our request, since Carlos was not only rude, but also incompetent). This time it was Prospero, who we later learned is the owner of the business. He diagnosed the *new* issue, a faulty motor. Not sure why Carlos didn't catch this the first time around. Anyways, another $200 later, and the washer is now finally fixed. Fast forward a few weeks, and there is now a strong burning smell coming from our dryer. Turns out it wasn't serviced properly, and there is hair surrounding the burner (a clear fire hazard). Prospero comes out again, and tells us it will be another $70 to perform a service that we had already paid for (and was not performed properly the first time). He tried to convince us that he was giving us a deal, and that the service normally would have cost $140. His reasoning? He was not the original technician that performed the service. But wait, don't you own the company? Shouldn't you cover the asses of the employees who f-up? Needless to say, he finished his service and we will never be using Quick Appliance again. read more

Way overpriced. I had them look at my dishwasher. They wanted to charge $190 for a part I could get online for $60. And $180 to install it. The technician said it would take 1.5 hours, so that comes to $120/hr. I would never use this company. Do your research and find another service company. On the plus side, the technician was very polite. But that's about the only good thing I can say. Update - I just got an estimate from another company for less than half what Quick Appliance was charging ($120 labor and $60 for the part). Do not use these guys! read more

MIchael just left and did an excellent job. He was the second repairman to come and fix my dishwasher (the first company sent a very young repairman out twice and he was unable to repair it). Quick Appliances repairman Michael came promptly, was well spoken, explained that I had a few small issues and repaired them all within an hour for only $120. I think that's a great deal since the first non-repair cost me $149 but did not solve my problems!!! Quick Appliance will be my go to for all my appliances from now on...and I learned that they do heating and air-conditioning too! read more

I called Quick Appliance when our heater stopped working. As their name suggests Prospero was quick to respond and showed up the next day. He patiently diagnosed the problem and advised on replacing the 40+ year old unit. He sat down and helped narrow down the right heater for our needs. The best part - he hooked up everything with Nest. On the installation day, he and his crew worked quickly and kept the house clean when they left. Overall I was pleased with my interactions and got value for the money. My furnace broke down the other day. My dad and I checked out the furnace and thermostat and figured out that SOMETHING that shorted out and it wasn't the fuse. I was skeptical since I had never called an appliance repair service thru the yellow pages. They said it would be $45 to "diagnose" the problem, but the fee would be waived if I decided to go with their recommendations. I was amazed that they could send a repair man the very next day to check out my furnace. Within a hour, the repair man produced the circuit board (as we had figured out) of my furnace that shorted out in 2 places! To further disbelief he had a replacement circuit board in his van and my furnace was up and running in 30 minutes! How's that for quick?!? The cost of the board and labor was pretty reasonable and I really didn't think I was getting ripped off. They were also very nice and sent us a letter thanking us for using them! read more

I asked this company for an estimate for AC installation. They charged me $45, and I could not get a single straight answer. I asked which brand was considered more reliable and was told: "They all break". I asked if it was a single-speed or 2-speed unit and got a really garbled explanation of 2-stage systems instead. Tried to call the office - they (sort of) relayed my questions to the technician and called me back, but did not give me a clear answer either. Love this company...they come out the same day or next day and have competent techs who know how to fix your appliance. They work on all major brands, refrigeration, water heaters, heating, a/c and appliances. And they have sources to get parts quickly if they don't carry them on their truck.
