Others only seemed to offer group karate lessons to the "masses" and I never felt like my child received any individual attention. With Z-Ultimate in Murrieta, Sensei Pierce offers Shaolin Kempo Karate and provides all his students with the basic understanding of all the animals: Tiger, Crane, Snake, Leopard, and Dragon which all have very different postures and focuses on a more traditional approach. There's always an uplifting and positive "quote of the week" listed on the board in the dojo, we're always greeted when entering, phone calls are always returned within the same day. Sensei Pierce has always been accommodating in rescheduling private sessions due to vacation schedules. The most important part is my son enjoys going. He's met a ton of new friends, he's more responsive and better behaved to helping out at home and over-all- a happier child. He's learning discipline and different self-defense techniques while enjoying it at the same time. ***Added side note--- The karate studio is located right next to a major grocery store, two Chinese restaurants, a Mexican restaurant, a subway, an Irish pub, etc. So you can always grab a boba drink and do some light grocery shopping for your night's dinner while your kids are doing karate. ;)

The entire team has been instrumental in our children's success, both on the training mat and at competitions. My wife and I were both multi-sport athletes, but neither of us ever practiced or competed in combat sports so while we weren't sure what to expect, we both understood what effective teaching/training looked like. From the first day, it was evident that the team was focused on developing comfort and confidence in the new students. They were both immediately assigned to an experienced student who made them feel relaxed and walked them through both the drills and lessons over the next few days. They quickly went from being a little scared of joining a class full of students with varied experience levels to requesting to attend class every day of the week. Of all the extracurricular activities they had tried, this was the one that ignited their passion the most. The professor, Tom Cronin, and the entire team of coaches do an excellent job of keeping the kids engaged by balancing expectations with both fun and recognition. They have a great sense of each student and how to motivate them to excel. They also steer clear of pitfalls we were warned of by friends who have children attending other academies, specifically promotions based on attendance as opposed to merit. At this gym, the children are evaluated on their skills and ability to execute the requisite moves. This encourages them to excel instead of just casually participating. Within 9 months they had developed enough confidence to compete and we were blown away at how well they performed against the competition from around the country. Most importantly, they had a coach prepare them the week before with one on one training and he was the one who attended the competition to coach both of them through all of their matches. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly for us, the academy doesn't just teach them BJJ, it reinforces core behaviors that we expect from our children - Respect, honor, and community. At the end of the day, we are all trying to raise the best humans we can and I can say with absolute confidence, that this academy is an integral part of that process for our children. I absolutely recommend Carlson Gracie, Temecula to anyone with any interest in Brazilian Jui-Jitsu.

i started the new years probably at the lowest point in my life after going through the worst year…read morei had ever experienced in 2025, but i told myself i truly wanted to learn fighting specifically muy thai, as i was already heavily into fitness and becoming a master of my body, i started a free trial on the second of January showed up and my body was crazy tense and i was incrediby uncordinated as ive never played a sport before, I just knew weight training. fast forward two months the level of my body cordination as well as muscularity in my body has blossomed ive never felt more powerful in my entire life, going here would boost my confidence to new levels i didnt even know existed for me as i was already a confident person, i even learned stretches i didnt even know existed and became a lot more well versed in using my whole body. Glutes, hamstrings, shoulders, and traps transformed going and training here, it transformed me like nothing else has in my life, if your on the fence or have never tried fighting in your life please just go, all the coaches are extremly friendly and understand excatly where to take you from a complete beginner, and nurture you into becoming a master, id like to say they have my upmost respect and praise as im doing very well in my life as of writing this, a complete 180 as to what i went through last year. Family operated, Renche, Sheehan or sensei (Hope I spelled each of those correctly ) greet each family individually and are very professional and respectful people. These lessons will not only teach your children self defense (which they do) but also focus, control and respect. There is a stripe system in place for promotion testing but as far as I can tell it is also determine d based on child's ability and behavior as these are key to training. It appears to me the stripes are a tool for the instructors to gage where a child should be after a certain amount of time. I have seen some children qualify to test for their next belt early so the stripes are definitely not THE qualifier for this.

My wife and I want our kids to be involved in some type of sport or physical activity outside of daily school. My son had been a dedicated club soccer player for a few yrs but COVID put a damper on that so we were looking for something different he might like. I, personally, had always been a Bruce Lee fan and loved the art of Wing Chun but had never taken part in it. My son was 12 yrs old and had only done a little wrestling as far as self defense so I signed us up for a free week of classes. Usually a 12 yr old would be in the Youth classes but my son was allowed to train alongside me (46 yrs) in the adult classes with grown men and women. As soon as our first class was over he said, "Man, I can't wait to do this again!' He and I were hooked. We continued on for an entire yr together where we trained and fought alongside each other. I had no idea the impact it would have on him to see me (his own father) take my own ups n downs throughout the process of learning. He witnessed me get humbled many times during trainings (hard for a father to do/admit) but I knew I wanted him to see that I was willing to let him see me fail so he could also see me continue on and not give up. It took incredible discipline and dedication for us both but our bond and relationship as father and son took immense strides forward and watched my 12 yr old boy become an artist of Wing Chun during that time. He developed a love of the craft and discipline that Sifu-Don Presto and the many other coaches instilled in him along the way: Samba, Mike, Gabe, Charles, Jamere, Kevin, others. All great men with great character that held my son accountable but also gave him great praise and encouragement when earned. This was the longest my son and I had done anything together, how incredibly rewarding as a father. When I needed to take a break during summer, Sifu-Don offered my son a position as a coach for his Youth classes on Mon-Tues-Wed evenings. He was honored at the opportunity and jumped right in. Working with both, adults and young children (ages 6-12 yrs), men, women, girls, boys, has taught him so much as a young man and character development. Sifu-Don Presto and the staff of coaches at SoCal Wing Chun Academy (Murrieta) have made a life-changing impact on my son and I and have ignited a passion for the martial arts in him that I never saw coming. When I reached out via their scheduling system to set up a free trial, I was immediately called back and I spoke to Ben the owner. He set up a date and time for my son to visit and try a class that evening. Ben met with all of us first to discuss my son's goals and to explain a little bit about their school and then my son joined the teen class right after. My son loved it and we decided to have him attend classes there. They offer teen classes every evening and morning classes for everyone as well as Saturday morning classes.
