Assistant National Instructor Ben is teaching my son how to use the Dan Bong
    Christy E.

I can't say enough good things about this place. Assistant National Instructor Ben is the most calm and caring person I've ever met. After going to a different martial arts place and having the owner talk only about himself; it was a breath of fresh air to speak with Ben because his main concern was about me and my son who I wanted to enroll. As soon as I walked inside I felt at peace and I could tell that every instructor there was invested in our progress. Initially I was only going to enroll our son, but my husband and I stared taking classes as well and we love it! They've gone out of their way to make sure that we can attend as a family which has been such a blessing! Regional Head instructor Joy has been a pleasure to work with. She takes her time to explain things and genuinely cares about me, my family, and our overall well being. Instructor Jordan has taught me so much and continues to push me to work harder. I'm so grateful for him. And Instructor Laeti is so patient with my son who has ADHD. My son absolutely adores her. You will not regret coming here! Best decision ever!

My wife and I want our kids to be involved in some type of sport or physical activity outside of daily school. My son had been a dedicated club soccer player for a few yrs but COVID put a damper on that so we were looking for something different he might like. I, personally, had always been a Bruce Lee fan and loved the art of Wing Chun but had never taken part in it. My son was 12 yrs old and had only done a little wrestling as far as self defense so I signed us up for a free week of classes. Usually a 12 yr old would be in the Youth classes but my son was allowed to train alongside me (46 yrs) in the adult classes with grown men and women. As soon as our first class was over he said, "Man, I can't wait to do this again!' He and I were hooked. We continued on for an entire yr together where we trained and fought alongside each other. I had no idea the impact it would have on him to see me (his own father) take my own ups n downs throughout the process of learning. He witnessed me get humbled many times during trainings (hard for a father to do/admit) but I knew I wanted him to see that I was willing to let him see me fail so he could also see me continue on and not give up. It took incredible discipline and dedication for us both but our bond and relationship as father and son took immense strides forward and watched my 12 yr old boy become an artist of Wing Chun during that time. He developed a love of the craft and discipline that Sifu-Don Presto and the many other coaches instilled in him along the way: Samba, Mike, Gabe, Charles, Jamere, Kevin, others. All great men with great character that held my son accountable but also gave him great praise and encouragement when earned. This was the longest my son and I had done anything together, how incredibly rewarding as a father. When I needed to take a break during summer, Sifu-Don offered my son a position as a coach for his Youth classes on Mon-Tues-Wed evenings. He was honored at the opportunity and jumped right in. Working with both, adults and young children (ages 6-12 yrs), men, women, girls, boys, has taught him so much as a young man and character development. Sifu-Don Presto and the staff of coaches at SoCal Wing Chun Academy (Murrieta) have made a life-changing impact on my son and I and have ignited a passion for the martial arts in him that I never saw coming. My wife and I are so incredibly thankful that we made this connection and hope other families may take advantage of such an opportunity. Stop by SoCal Wing Chun Academy today. -Tyler King

This school has helped my back immensely in the 3.5 months I've been here!…read moreDuring my forties, I injured my back repeatedly. 3 years ago at the age of 48 I finally had an MRI. I have mild to moderate wedge compressions on 8 vertebrae and 4 disc bulges, one of which became a herniated disc about two years ago. Physical therapy and chiropractors seemed to aggravate the herniated disc. I ended up in severe pain after those sessions with limited mobility for weeks. Additionally, since the herniated disc, I've lost significant muscle mass (especially in my legs as I was no longer able to bend down and had severely limited mobility for months). The herniated disc also caused sciatica, which would cause muscles in my leg or hips to tense up to where I was unable to bend them, numbness in my upper left leg, and occasionally extreme nerve pain in my upper left leg. Enter Balance Martial Arts and Shifu Peter Wu! Although I had hoped that the Tai Chi would help with my posture and provide some improvement, Shifu Peter Wu taught me several Qigong exercises which have had an enormously beneficial effect on me. Years of being in a desk job created a slight, but noticeable hunch in my back. When I was younger (30's), the only way to fix it would be visits to the chiropractor, however the fixes would only last days. After practicing one of Shifu Peter's Qigongs for a few weeks, I was able to resolve that issue for over a month now with occasional practices of the exercise. I was never able to fix that on my own before! Additionally, the standing exercises he has taught me, has helped strengthen my lower back and hip girdle significantly. That coupled with seated Qigong with postural corrections, and some other exercises he taught me, I've eliminated most of the pain in my lower back. The stances from the standing exercises and Tai Chi have additionally started building up my leg strength again. All of this has had a significant increase on my mobility and energy levels. After years of "good and bad days", where good days meant only mild pain, I now see a light at the end of the tunnel! Now my good days mean no pain and I have increased range of motion! This has only been with 3.5 months. I can't wait to see how much better I'll be in another year. Shifu Peter is one of the few people who's had an opportunity to train in Chen Village (the birthplace of Tai Chi), as well as at the Shaolin temple. His teaching style is great, supplying me with new information and refinements in every class, and he is extremely supportive and flexible in showing me exercises to help improve my practice, and to help me along with my back. There's still a long road ahead of me for fixing all of the issues in my back, but I haven't had this much success in any other methodology I've tried, let alone in such a short period of time. I can't give enough accolades to Shifu Peter Wu and the practices that he's taught me!

It's not just another studio, it's a family, and not like Cobra Kai, but more like The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. You don't wear a shell, and you don't fight an Asian dude with a shiny metal helmet and razor sharp gauntlets, but you do train with the best and practice Northern Green Dragon Shaolin Kung Fu. So when people ask if you're kung fu is good, you can say, "hell yea." Training here is always a blast, and quite a workout. Before CMAI, I never really worked with weapons. Well, I did used bo staffs, because I got serious bo staff skills, but I never practiced with swords. You get swords here. That's how hard core they are about showing you the power of ass kickery. Sifu Dwight Love is one of the most awesome practitioners of the art, and an accomplished instructor. He's an older black man with a face that says he don't take crap from no one, but he's very kind and always patient with his students. Just think of Samuel L Jackson and replace his guns with Chuck Norris' ass kicking fists of fury and round house kicks of death--that's Sifu Dwight. Going to CMAI, I've learned 2 things: How to kick ass and how to take names. It's a great studio and they have lessons for all ages.
