My son's been going here for over 3 years now, and I just wanted to say that this place is AMAZING. Great owner, staff, and an awesome teacher Mr Nick who's highly skilled and fierce but friendly and happy at the same time haha. But yea the classes gave my kid confidence, taught him integrity, and other valuable lessons along with skills of Krav Maga. This is the initial review of West Coast Krav Maga. Our child signed up for the 10-14 year old class. He is a bit shy and was intimidated by doing martial arts. Almost didn't make it to the class the first time as he got a bit of stage fright. The first session he had an instructor with him to guide him through the session. Though nervous by the time the class was over he said sign me up. Now he has gone for about two weeks and he loves it. I love that they teach skills, body work out, and mind work out. Each day they go over their monthly mental goal such as this month was honesty. Even some take home homework which we take seriously as it is laying a good foundation of morals. Every week is two or so new moves in the a b classes. We will update the review a few months from now. The owner and instructors have been very professional and respectful. read more

Our daughters' (5 and 6) self confidence has improved tremendously after a little over a year of training. They are more assertive (1 was pretty shy) and focused, not only in martial arts, but in all aspects of their life. This program has instilled greater respect for others, discipline, and has a great "family" feel. They're hard on them, in a way that a parent or older sibling would train their family. We greatly appreciate what John and his staff have taught our daughters, both physically and mentally. Yes, they're learning self defense, but they also incorporate moral teachings as well. I've tried a few places such as taekwondo and Muay Thai and so far I like this place. The class was fun and gave me a good cardio training. Disappointed. I enrolled my 4 year old son to this class because he was attacked by a dog and I wanted him to get an idea on how to defend himself or to be able to cover himself in case of something like that happens again. Anyway, we went to do a trial of 1 day and soon after that I would get a call from David every week to get us a membership. Silly me, I enrolled my son. I want my son to like this but since he's a 4 year old, paying attention is too much for him but he would seat there pouting and just deal with it. I paid for the whole month but I asked David how long do I have until I could cancel it after that month and he said, since it's my son's first month, technically I have 2 weeks after being in a class for a month. Mind you my son only attended 2 classes out of 4.. anyway a month and a week passed and I was charged for the following month so I called and this person Angie asked me to email her instead so I did, 2 days passed and Angie hasn't responded to me so I decided to call her and finally this time she was willing to talk.. she said she doesn't know why David would say that and it's not written so she can not do it and instead she'll give my son this pass where he could use it anytime he's ready to come back and I said "well I cannot guarantee that this talk is actually valid just like what David said to me" and she said "oh it's gonna be on your son's profile" so I said "yeah David said the same thing." Anyway I said, it's okay, just keep it but pls cancel my son's membership.. you lure people in but when they want to cancel, it's so hard to talk to anyone and any thing that is said means nothing to them. read more

We love west coast Krav maga! Our 4y/0 son takes their little Dragons class at the temecula location. We are really missing it during this time of quarantine but they have offered consistent virtual classes which is better than nothing. The staff is so great with the kids and teach really important life skills through their self-defense skills. Love the discipline in the midst of having fun. It's a great place :) read more

I love love love this this place! My daughter loved it while she was there but unfortunate due to some family matters we had to take her our for a few months. She still keeps asking when she's gonna be able to go back and there's no doubt in my mind that within a couple months she will be right back to what she loves. West Coast Krav Maga is going but seems to be a sinking ship. Over the past few months it seems like they are wishy washy with nickel and diming customers for things like "mandatory" workshops in order to be able to do. belt tests (which also costs extra) only to backtrack on it and cause mass confusion. The only instructor holding the place together and really organized the events was let go, so there's fewer activities for the kids, and everyone else in general. Inconsistencies with how the techniques are taught to the students, as each instructor has their own way, leading to students getting docked on tests, and possibly failing. Feedback from customers/students and instructors is ignored. Lastly, they try to completely destroy you during belt testing with them being 3-6 hours long, and no matter the weather, 100+ degree heat, or temperatures near freezing, they don't seem to care and still seem to hold these belt test outside. Think more about the customers, and take better care of the staff and this place would be absolutely fantastic. read more

Do yourself a favor, learn Krav Maga. As a strong woman, I always figured I would know how to defend myself when push came to shove, but after taking a year and a half of Krav Maga, I realized how much I did not know about self defense, and how much better equipped I am to protect myself and my family if ever there was an emergency or attack or assault. I learned what do do if I get choked, grabbed, punched. I learned what to do if someone is on top of me or pulling me by my hair. I learned how to defend myself under duress. I am so grateful to have this knowledge in case of an emergency. That was speaking from a women's perspective, but my husband and son took it for more than a year as well and they really enjoyed it too. It's tough, it pushes you. It's not easy. But you are a better person for it, physically, mentally, psychologically and more. Today my 8-year-old daughter is enrolled in their children's program and she loves it. She has Asperger's Syndrome, and yet she is able to do the activities with the other children and feel "a part of." Finally, the staff is professional, courteous and knowledgeable. My final comment is this - it's not cheap. Be prepared for that. But in the long run I felt it was worth the investment, and it is. read more

Do I know anything about Krav Maga? Nope. Have I taken my daughter to any other studio? Again, nope. My daughter is extremely shy, and she isn't comfortable with anything confrontational or loud. I have found out that everything about Krav Maga is both loud and confrontational. We were also very recently in a situation that required self defense, so it was very triggering. I'm writing this review solely for Coach (instructor?) Travis. After the warm up, my daughter learned a combo that included hitting. Not her jam. Next move? Kneeing. She immediately broke down into tears. This young man was so stunningly and amazingly patient and kind. He sat with my daughter, talked her through her anxiety, and found out the noise was extra distressing, so he brought her into a separate room (with me present) to discuss it further and explain why noise is important as protection and as a training tool. He gave my daughter space to process her emotions with zero judgement, continued to offer support, and refused to let her give up while respecting her space. After class, he took the time to follow up with my daughter and reiterate that she did amazing, simply because she didn't quit. We left and she immediately said she was ready to go back because he didn't force her to conform. We are signing up because of his care and support, as well as the rest of the staff who were there to support us through a difficult first class. I highly recommend them after day one. read more

Having trained Krav Maga many, many years ago back in Europe, the choice for a self-defense school with heavy focus on strengthening skills such as focus, coordination, etc. was pretty easy to make. However, we wanted to make sure that our son did like what he was doing. So after his two-week trial period we just enrolled him and he absolutely loves it. At first he seemed all over the map, but within a matter of a couple of lessons it seems like the light went on and he's aware and understanding of what is happening. He absolutely loves the staff, first and foremost the owner, John, as well as the program coordinator Peter and the instructors Stephanie and Eric. The entire staff - no exceptions - is extremely nice, very professional and courteous, and just fantastic with all the kids. Their training is a very nice way of playfully sharpening their senses, strengthening their skills and teaching them the skill set they hopefully will never need (but it doesn't hurt to know it). We are absolutely thrilled with this school. Apart from that, I am a strong believer in this Martial Arts system and can strongly recommend it to anyone who is looking to get trained in a no-nonsense, real-life self defense system that many members of military and law enforcement confide in worldwide. read more

I received my black belt in Taekwondo a few years ago. After I did, I began to search for a new martial art that would combine great fitness with practical self defense. About ten months ago, my life didn't seem too different from what it is now. I still have the same friends, and I still have the same job. However, as seemly similar as it all is on the outside, changes have accrued. Changes, that will continue to shape and mold my life for the better, of that I'm sure. When first approached to write about my experience with the self defense school of Krav Maga, I was flattered. My mind, flooded with all the things I could talk about; How much, they help inspired me to be my best everyday. At first I didn't know how to start, but then all stories are best told from the beginning. In September of 2015 a good friend and coworker of mine had been going though somethings that lead her to seek therapy. Without going off on a tangent, it was because of this therapist recommendation, that this friend of mine looked into Krav Maga . This friend of mine did not have a license to drive, so if she was going to attend these classes she would need someone to take her. Already I was driving her too and from work almost everyday. She didn't live to far away, so it was no big burden to help out my friend. I always wanted to take some form of marshal arts myself any ways, this just gave me confidence and excuse to try it out. Seeing as I would have never have these lessons so on my own, I will always be grateful to my friend for needing me. But I digress... I'll never forget my first night, we arrive just on time. Which was late, if you wanted to get the full introduction on your first day; Traffic however, made that impossible. Arriving there we quickly went through the wavers and threw on our brand new Krav Maga t-shirts, already I was a ball of jitters and nervous. I had come to learn that the day we started was a review night, so we more or less were getting a months worth of curriculum in a single hour surround by a couple dozen people who already knew what they were doing. It was scary but the instructors were motivating and encouraging and knew how to keep us going when we thought we had reached out limit. I am not a small girl by any means, It was hard to keep up. I have tried gyms and exercises before, but the movements become stagnant and boring to the point that I KNOW I'm exercising, that it hurts, and I don't like to hurt. Krav Maga was different in that respect. Training with different instructors with their won unique styles of teaching makes stagnate exercises impossible. Besides, Krav Maga is more then just exercise for the point of loosing weight, it teaches important life skills. Skills, that will help to keep you and the people you care about happy, alive, and safe. They imprinted that lesson in me early on in my training. So when I train in class, does it hurt? Yes it hurts! But do I go farther, faster, and harder because of the people I keep in my mind? Heck Ya! Ten months of this training, and the point I wish to impart in all this, is yes! I did loose about 50 pounds using a calorie counting app and my training with Krav Maga (Because its Diet and Exercise!). Everyday in class its hard, because I am competing with my own limits not anyone else's. Because, some day these classes might save my life, but only if I take them to heart and learn from them as if I'm going to need them tomorrow. They have given me a confidence I didn't know I was lacking. I can't go anywhere with out people I know noticing how much I've lost. More Disco than Dojo I can't speak for the adult classes, but the kid's classes are like some kind of dance club with kicking and punching. The instructors carry a remote control for the sound system in their hand as they teach! The music (techno disco beats) stops and starts constantly as the kids do their moves. Not exactly a good forum for learning focus and concentration. Lots of other "McDojo" characteristics: Unreasonable contract lengths, high prices, pay extra for "black belt" training (regular classes are only 45 minutes and usually crowded.) Instructors are all very young (you never see the "Sensei" in the kids classes) Always trying to "up-sell." Krav Maga is a great martial art for self defense. If you are an adult that may really need to defend yourself, maybe this place has something to offer. The teachers are skilled and do know their stuff (although they tend to be young.) If you want your kid to get *all* the benefits of a martial arts program, there are plenty of better alternatives around. read more

I just had my son's 5th bday party here. Peter & Stefanie were the 2 instructors at the party. They did an hour karate session for the kids, served them food/cake & helped with opening gifts. I have been to many martial arts schools in my life. Some bad. Some good. One great. One absolutely extraordinary. And that absolutely extraordinary martial arts school is West Coast Krav Maga. Every aspect about WCKM epitomizes extraordinariness. WCKM has three locations: Wildomar, Murrieta, and Temecula. I attend the Temecula school, and once have audited a class at the Murrieta school. I have a friend who venerates the Wildomar school, too. Three different locations and you can attend any of them as a student. The last martial arts school I attended before WCKM was Gracie Barra (Brazilian Jujitsu) in Lake Elsinore, which has closed down. I recall my professor at Gracie Barra Lake Elsinore telling me that I would have to get a note from him if I wanted to audit a class at another Gracie Barra school. With WCKM, you can just show up to any of their other schools without going through the hassle of obtaining a note. Also, may I add, people, students and teachers at WCKM are more cordial and professional. I have had the pleasure of having and training with animated, ardent, amiable, nimble, sagacious, buoyant, sophisticated, and beyond compassionate teachers/senseis. To name a few: Stefanie Gabriele, Ericka Howard, Eric Dale, Chris Nieto, Erick Garcia, Damon Mccumber, Daniel Carlini, John Estrada. West Coast Krav Maga doesn't merely teach a student how to seriously kick butt -- defend your life and the lives of your loved ones -- but also how to master your intellect; how to employ "common sense" before "self defense." I assure anyone who takes a free class or ends up becoming a student themselves that their mindsets on self defense will change optimistically and significantly. You will feel more confident, in control and much safer wherever or whenever you encounter a confrontation. In fact, I have been in dire situations that wouldn't have resulted well if I stayed in Brazilian Jujitsu. Situations involving more than one belligerent. What saved me... perhaps my life... in this particular situation was "minding my surroundings." To stop. Breathe. Scrutinize my proximity and the environment. Discern the people around me and the situation. And prudently, opportunely execute the best plan to get out of there, and to successfully do what everyone needs to do whenever going out: to go home safe, sound, alive. After a diligent research, the martial arts, self defense system that will show up the most as The Best more than any other is none other than Krav Maga. This school is a great place to learn to self defense, but if you're an advanced martial artist from another style, it may take some patience in order for you to get through the first several years of training. However, the basics that you learn in the first couple of years resonate through everything that you do as you head towards your black belt, so it can be well worth it. As far as the training goes, it is excellent, although your partners might not have as much control as you might see in other styles. You should be ready for contact, as this form of training will lead to your receiving the occasional blow... protect yourself at all times, etc. I've trained at many schools and they all have their pros and cons, but this facility is run by a great family and the people who train their tend to be respectful and friendly. You will run into the occasional knucklehead who seems to always have something to prove, but this seems to happen with almost any school... best to avoid them when you can and beat them to the punch when you can't (gently of course). Someone mentioned below that there were extra costs for black belt training, but this is not the case any longer. The classes are now one hour each and the black belt training is incorporated into the classes as you progress through the levels of advancement. There are now three groups of classes for adults: Beginning (White & Yellow) , Intermediate (Orange, Green & Blue) and Advanced (Brown & Black). I do agree that there is some up selling at times and the school certainly isn't cheap, but their facilities are fairly massive and there is a ton of equipment involved... ya gotta keep the lights on, etc. That being said, I am a big fan of this style of martial arts and I believe it to be very effective in a street situation where you might find your life on the line. This is the only Krav Maga school in the area and overall it is an excellent one... I highly recommend you check it out. read more

We are new members to wckm even before we started the staff and teachers have been great they didn't push us to join and were very patient with us they even let us try out the classes until we were able to make a decision they made it very clear that krav maga is not for everybody so we felt no pressure at all in fact we began to feel guilty for taking free lessons ! my two girls absolutely loved the class and the teachers Mrs Stephanie and Mr Peter are great with all students children and adults even sensei john sparred with my daughter and she had a smile from ear to ear. we love how as a family we can enjoy this together in just the three months we have been members we have pushed ourselves to live a more healthy lifestyle because you also get a great workout but my daughters are more confident in themselves and trying to live by the black belt creed absolutely love wckm best decision ever to join worth every penny read more

West Coast Krav Maga is a wonderful place conceived and run by wonderful people. While the Krav Maga part of the school emphasizes the techniques that originated in Israel, the teachers and staff all recognize the human side of the equation. The classes give everyone a feeling that their life is important, as well as the lives of those around them. The school adds value by being open and holding classes five days each week (including Saturday) and there are a variety of different classes, from child development of strong principles and habits to self-defense, kick-boxing and fight classes for adults. The core of each class is a strong interaction with instructors who are excellent about willing to share their knowledge and training with others. The school really cares about its students, and to have a place like that to go to in the Temecula-Murrieta area is important to those in the area who don't have anything else like it. The school has been a big help for me in times when I had no job, no friends, and still faced the larger problems of life. The time I have spent there has made a huge difference in both my confidence and my health. I recommend it to everyone as a project which can nurture a foundation upon which to build relationships and energy for life. read more

My son has been doing some form of martial arts since he was three and when we moved to CA last year we weren't sure what route we were going to go so we started doing a ton of research on facilities in the area. We heard great things about West Coast Krav Maga and after his first class, my son was hooked. Not only does he get to continue his love for martial arts but he also get to learn every day life lessons that he can use not only use as a child but take with him into adulthood. Respect, discipline, confidence, kindness ect, ect. He is held accountable for doing his homework and he truly gets excited to work up to his next belt every few months. Simple things such as postcard in the mail telling him how great he is doing certainly goes a long way and when there was a time where he was struggling in school, I spoke to one of his instructors and she went out of her way to make sure that he was okay.
