Self-proclaimed poster child for bloodwork here. This is one of my go-to Quest locations (ever since the Safeway location in Rocklin closed). I also frequent the Sierra College Blvd. and East Roseville Pkwy. locations. I noticed many of the negative reviews mention two things: 1) the smell and 2) how slow the office is. If I had to venture a guess on the smell, I'd imagine it's a combination of poor ventilation and the fact that blood draws make a lot of people anxious. It's no secret that plenty of people dread having their blood drawn, and a waiting room full of nervous patients probably doesn't help (nervous/anxious sweat stinks, look it up). As for the pace, that really hasn't been my experience. The furthest behind I've ever seen them was about 15-20 minutes, and a staff member actually came out to keep everyone updated. Unfortunately, she got an earful from several walk-in patients who had been waiting for hours. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I understand the frustration, but personally, I wouldn't ever recommend walking in if you can avoid it. With a full schedule of appointments, fitting in walk-ins is never going to be easy or quick, they follow a formula.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My phlebotomist was Blake, and he was one of the most skilled phlebotomists I've ever had. He's been drawing blood for more than 30 years, and it absolutely shows. The draw was quick, smooth, and painless. I came here for the first time today to get some blood work done I had an appointment at 12:20pm and waited about 25 minutes past my appointment to be called back. I had the wonderful Blake.... When I sat down, we realized something was wrong with my paperwork... the spelling of my last name was off. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Luckily Blake gave me the right steps to take to get my doctor on the phone and a PFD file sent to my email that I could forward on to Blake.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I'm a long time patient of quest. Actually did draws several times a week due to chronic conditions. So here's my take can take it or leave it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is no receptionist answering questions. Quest did away with that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Waiting room always smells funky like bad body odor. There's no ventilation. In that area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You walk in and hope to be seen and wait for hours or you have an appointment and check in on the kiosk.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff is good. I've became friendly with several of them.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However since I've been going I've noticed their employee turn over is high. The reason is, they are underpaid, equipment is usually not working well or is not restocked. I've watched management just break the care and compassion out of their employees. Over the years I've been told by several employees they were leaving for better pay and treatment. It's been really sad to watch decent, caring employees give up and don't care towards the end of their employment with quest. Quest tends to understaff, cut costs and corners where they can. I've walked into quest when the ac has been out on 100+ days or the heat off on cold winter days and the clinic is freezing. The trashy paper coats the techs are forced to wear are always ripped or falling apart or just looking gross. The rooms are dingy, the lab draw chairs cushions are split catching your clothes as you sit down. Half the time the computers are slow or not working or having issues. Usually techs have to go looking for special tubes and express they are surviving when I ask how their day is. They are usually stressed with the amount of time they have to input paperwork print labels and find supplies and draw blood. I think it's 1 person every 5 minutes. Or something like that. The clinic is a nasty lime green too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]However they are open on Saturdays if you're lucky enough to get an appointment otherwise you might wait 3-4 hours or even not be seen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They don't allow the wrap after your lab draw just tape which rips your skin off. Coband is just a staple but I'm assuming quest has had issues with people leaving it on to long. Now quest has made some of its labs harder to get. Estradiol For example used to result with a quantitative number or below 15. They have adopted the new machinery that only gives a below 30 now leaving patients in menopause etc without a timely option for estradiol values. The alternative option is a lcs/ms estradiol that takes up to 9 days to process and result which is too long for people microdosing hormones or working on hormonal issues. That being said I had to use them for several years and while it got the job done it wasn't great not good. I avoided the stinky front waiting area at cost. Imagine sweaty butt crack constantly and no air. It's the public transport of labs and has really gone downhill in search of profit over patient comfort care and employee well being. read more

After being sent here from a different location that would not take me as a walk- in I was ready to be disappointed. I was wrong I showed up put my name on the walk- in list I did see a few people on it but it went pretty fast . The office looked clean and organized very similar to other locations. Every time I come here, it smells absolutely awful. Just absolutely disgusting. No ventilation. Long wait despite appointment times. If you are pregnant and doing the 2-3 hour glucose testing, go somewhere else. This place will make you nauseated for sure. read more

One of the worst medical experiences I've ever had. During my visit, the first nurse was kind but couldn't find my vein and called for assistance. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The second nurse who came in was completely unprofessional, aggressive, and rude. She yanked my arm, yelled "relax" at me multiple times, and when I calmly asked if she had gotten the vein, she "joked" by loudly saying: "No, I'm gonna punch you in your forehead."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was genuinely scared to move while the needle was inside my vein. On top of that, I was left with a massive bruise that I've never had before from any blood draw. To make things worse, an hour later I received a call from the lab saying my blood tubes somehow leaked -- which sounds highly suspicious -- and I was asked to come back and redo the entire procedure. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Thankfully, the second technician was respectful and professional, but that does not excuse the completely unacceptable behavior I experienced during my first visit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I strongly advise avoiding this location. This place has no urgency whatsoever. They have multiple phlebotomists in the back and consistently I only see 1-2 patients being helped. Don't bother with this place as they are consistently behind then they kick you out when it's time to close after you have been waiting for 2hours. I just went to this location and agree 100% with all the horrible experiences everyone seems to have. I went in with an appointment in the morning and they were already 1hr30min behind. To make things worse, the receptionist with short hair (that everyone is talking about) is very very rude. No one is yelling at her for the wait, yet she yells at us patients for no reason. Scheduling and updating appointment easy. Online portal easy. This is where my insurance makes me go for any lab work. So I did not have a choice. After multiple tries, the phlebotomist finally got a vein in the middle of my forearm and now I have an enormous bruise and can barely make a fist. I've had other phlebotomists have a hard time getting a vein before but never in my life ended up with this large or dark of a bruise from a simple annual blood draw. The E-check in is a joke. If you tell the customer that they will receive a text when it is time to come in, then send them a text when it is time to come in. Don't make them wait outside or in their car for an hour past their appointment time, then tell them that their appointment has passed and to make another appointment on another day (which often means in two weeks since appointment slots book far in advance). Some of us are on time critical organ transplant medications, and we need our levels tested at a very specific time. Moreover, we can't take the next dose until our blood is drawn. When you make us wait an hour past our appointment for absolutely no reason, it is detrimental to our health and schedule. Seriously guys, figure it out. And for Christ sake, put a small table or something in the restroom so we don't have to juggle a bunch of specimen cups. Every other lab company has some sort of table. I'll even volunteer to go to IKEA and get something, at my expense, and assemble it and bring it to the Sunrise Quest Lab. The lab techs are fairly competent. read more

The reviews about the phlebotomists here not being properly trained are true! This is 6 days after I got my blood drawn. My veins have been hard to find in the past but it's never caused me any bruising like this. Immediately when the noodle went in, I felt an instant burning and stinging sensation that I've never felt before when getting my blood drawn. I thought "Okay, a needle just went into my body. Maybe it will subside after 30 mins." Unfortunately it only got worse, 15 mins later, I actually felt pain traveling up my shoulders and lasted for several hours. Honestly was so scared to come here after all the terrible reviews but this was the only location I could get an appt at after work. I showed up 20 minutes early , signed in on the kiosk , the waiting room was clean & spacious, sat for maybe 2 minutes before the staff member came and got me. I thought I was going to have a problem since my doctor sent the referral 7 months ago (it took me awhile to build up the courage lol) but he had it pulled up on the computer with no problem. The staff member that helped me was very kind , had a conversation with me to make me less nervous and was extremely gentle!!! I had to take a urine sample as well & the bathroom was also very clean. It was honestly a great experience & I was there for maybe 10 minutes in total. This is where I will go from now on. read more

As everyone else has pointed out there is no communication at all. If you come and check in through the digital kiosk and then wait and wait and wait...... once they are "closed" they kick you out. It doesn't let you know on the digital check in kiosk OR by signage in the lobby that when they close (regardless if you are inside and checked in and sitting in their waiting room) that they will kick you out without service. The place is open until 11, but they wait until 11 to kick you out saying they stop taking patients at 1030. Had my medical records faxed over and was there with plenty of time to be seen in an empty lobby. No staff interaction or information given until they kick you out. We keep trying to give this lab an opportunity as they typically have openings the next day and our close to our house. But, and it's a big BUT is the fact that every time we've come here we've waited over an hour and the last time we got stuck in traffic and arrived 11 minutes late and the board showed they were running 30 minutes behind. Had to go on standby and have been waiting for over 90 minutes with no updates even though we have been number one on the standbye list since we got here but the staff has taken others first off the stand bye list. I typically don't rant but this is horrible service. I would strongly recommend you avoid this location at all costs unless you have nothing better to do. read more

I wish there is a zero stars to select. The waiting area wasn't clean. But I overlooked that since I didn't have any other choice at the time. My blood test had to be done that day to avoid delay in my cancer treatment the following week. No one to talk to once you walk in. If you have any questions you have to wait till one of the staff opens the door to call in a patient.even then they get irritated. I got there close to an hour prior to my appointment. Checked in at the kiosk and waited till staff opened the door and I asked if I could also be on standby list since there were only 4 people waiting. She said ok.All 4 plus an additional 4 that came in after that were helped while I sat and waited 20 minutes past my scheduled time (total of one hour). I asked to speak to a supervisor and was ignored. 5 minutes later they called me in only to find out that I don't have an order for my blood test. This is the second time they deleted it from their system because it was placed over 2 weeks ago. She had to call Standard hospital to have them resend it. Wait time over an hour 20 minutes of it was past my appointment time I would not go back there even if my life depended on it. Poor management. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. My daughter waited patiently after sitting in your dirty, unorganized setting. Finally being called in only to be told BY THE PHLEBOTOMIST that they would not be doing a vital blood test as she had a bill. My daughter explained that bill is being handled by her private insurance Co. So here's my question, SINCE WHEN does a PHLEBOTOMIST 1. have the right or frankly the AUDACITY to insert themselves in a billing issue???!!! Not only will I get blood work elsewhere, I will be filing a complaint to Quest. This is totally unacceptable!!! My daughter needed that test done today as per a Dr. order. I will never come back to this location, the person at the front desk with short light hair was absolutely rude. It was so disgusting to be treated this way by a "medical professional". I was spoken to like I was stupid for not understanding her. She spoke to me in a manner that left me speechless and I ended up leaving without getting my blood work done. I am pregnant and in absolute shock that they don't do anything to change this behavior. From what I've read in other reviews this isn't a new issue. I felt super uncomfortable and just left. Hopefully the bad reviews will end up changing their attitudes. UPDATE: I have now went to the Coyle Ave location and it is by far better. They were very kind, gentle and fast with my blood draw. You have to admit, nobody enjoys coming to "Quest Diagnostics". Reason being that based on some of these mediocre reviews, getting a simple urine, blood, or hair follicle test can be like an eternity. And if you search "Quest Diagnostics" anywhere around the United States, the majority of these reviews hover in the one to two star range. The laboratory that I am focusing on is located on Sunrise Ave. in Roseville, CA. The reason why I needed to pick this particular location was because of convenience near my home (I live in Citrus Heights) AND because this is one of the few locations open on Saturdays. Considering I work a Monday through Friday job, it would seem pointless to take a whole day off work for just simple lab work. Basically the way my employer works is that I get healthy credits that help lower my health insurance. And this accounts for several discounts that I qualify for; non-tobacco user, low cholesterol, glucose, and BMI (body mass index). All of which I am in the normal/healthy range. The key to coming to this type of place is to make an appointment. I was scheduled for my screening at 10:15am on Saturday 8/27/16. I arrive 15 minutes early, write my name on the sign-in sheet and wait patiently until 10:20am. There were several other patients (both ones that were appointments and walk-ins). However, the waiting area is fairly spacious and there is a small TV for your viewing pleasure. One I am called into the laboratory area, I tell the nurse that I am here for just a simple screening. They check my height, weight, and blood pressure. The final procedure was taking a simple blood test. I left by 10:30am and was on my way. Overall, if they're quick and not overwhelmingly busy, then the experience can be a painless one. So do keep in mind that it really can vary based on how busy they are at any given day or time. read more
