However, I was disappointed with the unnecessary delay in completing my physical clearance. The delay appeared to be caused by miscommunication and uncertainty regarding the responsibilities of the different departments. Although the X-ray was completed through another department within the same health center, the results were not initially made available to the doctor. I was also informed by the imaging department that the results would be sent to the doctor and would be available through the patient portal for the appropriate staff to access. Despite this, I had to make several phone calls and make multiple trips back and forth to the health center to ensure that the X-ray results had been received and that my clearance could move forward. This was very time-consuming, stressful, and disappointing, especially since the information was already available within the same health system. I believe clearer communication and coordination between departments could have prevented this delay and made the process much smoother for the patient. Other than this issue, I have always had a positive impression of Pomona Valley Health Centers, and it would continue to be my choice for healthcare services. I appreciate the kindness and respect shown by the staff and hope that this feedback can help improve coordination and communication for future patients.

When I went to the urgent Care, I had a horrendous lung infection. The reviews online had made it…read moresound like they had a licensed general practitioner on staff. The receptionist at the front desk was pleasant enough, but what happened in the doctors office was unbelievably bad. I never saw a physician instead I saw a unsupervised physicians assistant there was not a doctor in the facility. The medical assistant for the PA came in and began an initial intake she was nice. She had not taken my blood pressure yet. She left the room to get a different blood pressure cuff. She reentered the room with the PA. The mail PA asked me why I was there. I explained to him that I had had a lung infection going on two weeks and that it was not getting any better and that I needed something to calm down the cough., I wanted to be tested for RSV and Covid and I probably needed to have an order for a chest x-ray over at Pomona Valley Hospital. What happened next was shocking the PA told me well. We need to send you to the emergency room right away your blood pressure is 110/170! You could have a stroke or a heart attack. I looked at the nursing assistant and said well Dr. that's impossible for two reasons first I am on blood pressure medication that has kept my blood pressure very stable for over 10 years and I doubt that my blood pressure is that high. Secondly your assistant hasn't even taken my blood pressure yet. Instead of the PA apologizing and taking my blood pressure the individual double down and said well we're not going to be able to treat you at this facility. You need to go to the emergency room. When I asked why considering that the PA had not done a physical exam yet he told me that they did not have the ability to treat me at their facility. I asked to speak to the physician in charge and I was told that they did not have a physician on staff at that urgent care. I said well can you reach One via telehealth And I was told no. I asked could you please give me a prescription for a cough suppression medication or an expectorant and I was told no I began to get a little irritated, and I said at the very least you could do a physical examination order the chest x-ray a and labs so that I don't have to spend five hours at the emergency room wasting an emergency room physicians time. The PA turned around, began walking out the door and said you're going to have to go to the emergency room. I received no care at this urgent care and yet they charged my insurance company for a urgent care visit. I have actually called my insurance company and informed them of the experience and encourage them not to pay the bill. This is actually a first for me, but in the last two years I have become less and less impressed by the Pomona Valley Hospital care system and their urgent cares. It feels to me like their physicians and their PAs need more training. The PAs need supervision and guidance from a more experienced, licensed medical professional based on this experience, I would never go back to La Verne Pvhc Urgent Care. I actually went to another urgent care that is not part of the pvhc system the next day and received high-end quality urgent care from a pa under the direct supervision of a doctor. What I would expect from a Urgent doctors appointment. It turned out that I had RSV , I was immediately given cough medicine and supportive care, advice and I was treated and made a full recovery. It is unfortunate that I had to go to two urgent care to get the actual care that I needed so I really hope that my insurance company does not pay them for this visit because they did nothing to deserve a financial reward. The only reason that I am giving them two stars is because the receptionist at the front desk was very nice.

Ok... my mother is dying right now from this horrible disease I know ALOT about it. I did mention to the office manager that It felt a bit scammy and wrong to imply that a vitamin Iv would help Alzheimer's. 99% of neurologists will tell you that a cocktail iv might offer a small vitamin boost. It will not help or slow down the diseases listed in the advertising for this Myers Cocktail. The two offices in this practice are not wheelchair accessible, based on my experience I feel the staff lacks ada, cultural and mental health competence.

I had a very upsetting experience with Dr. Khawam. I have been dealing with severe back pain for…read morealmost a year, and the pain has significantly affected my sleep, daily activities, and ability to work. I attempted to have an MRI done three separate times, but because of my severe claustrophobia, I was unable to complete it. I came to see the doctor because I wanted to know if there were other options, such as sedation, that could allow me to get the MRI or if there were other tests that could help determine what was causing my pain. Instead of listening to my concerns, I felt that I was being dismissed. He questioned why I needed the MRI and what I thought it was going to show. He told me that my options were physical therapy and losing weight and suggested that my weight was likely the reason for my back pain. I understand that my weight is something I need to address, but I know my body, and I know that the severe pain I have been experiencing is not something I should simply be told to live with because of my weight. I was looking for a doctor to listen to me and help determine why I have been in so much pain. When I became upset, he told me to give him a moment while he spoke with a colleague. When he returned, I felt that his attitude toward me was even worse. He asked me what I thought was wrong with me. At that point, I became overwhelmed and walked out because I no longer felt comfortable continuing the conversation. I want to give a special thank-you to the front desk staff. They listened to me when I came out of the room upset, allowed me to explain what had happened, and helped me get connected with Corrina, the nurse. I truly appreciate them taking my concerns seriously instead of ignoring what had happened. I am also very grateful to Corrina, who called me, listened to me, apologized for my experience, and told me she would speak with the doctor and his supervisor. Most importantly, she actually helped me move forward. She was able to get a CT scan ordered as an alternative since I could not complete the MRI, as well as referrals to neurology and neurosurgery to explore other options, including ways I may eventually be able to complete an MRI. My CT results showed that there are issues with my spine that require further evaluation, which was extremely upsetting to me because I felt that I had initially been ready to be dismissed as simply being overweight. I am sharing this review because patients deserve to be listened to, treated with compassion, and taken seriously, especially when they are experiencing severe pain. I am thankful that I spoke up for myself and that the front desk staff and Corrina took the time to listen and advocate for me. Without their help, I don't know if I would have gotten the additional testing and referrals I needed. She wasn't the doctor I had chosen so unfortunately I was stuck with her. She dismissed a picture of me almost in anaphylactic shock as "I suggest taking a Claritin." She dismissed how I described living in mold infested housing meant I had symptoms of fatigue, she misunderstood mycotoxins and said "no, if you had a fungal infection I wouldn't been able to tell. I work with those people in a hospital." The unbelievable student assistant/student doctor also laughed at me after asking me what I thought I was diagnosed as. The other doctor didn't even care that the girl asked me that, she was already out of the door and didn't care. I guarantee you she brought the student doctor as an example of "here's a patient who's symptoms aren't real, let's look at her as an example of what happens to people who make up symptoms." Because of this now I'm gonna have to pay out of pocket for actual specialists and not inexperienced residents who dismiss everything. More expensive out of pocket but it will be worth it to avoid this type of BS.
