This location is understaffed, and the technicians are not helpful or family-friendly. I do not recommend taking your children to this location. We had an appointment, and we were 5 minutes late because we had some difficulty finding the lab. We checked in via the kiosk and waited 15 minutes before talking with the technician. She said that she couldn't take walk-ins, and we explained that we had an appointment and checked in. Then she said since we were late, we no longer had an appointment. We'd needed to come back tomorrow, or else to wait another 1-2 hours. I explained that we need the labs urgently for my child with kidney disease for a nephrology appointment. No change. She wouldn't even give us a urine sample container to take home with us. Believe all of the reviews for this location. read more

I'd give it 0 stars if I could. When I got there, babies were shrieking and the facility smelled like soiled diapers. I registered and the screen told me I'd have a five-minute wait. After 20 minutes, I asked how much longer it would be, and the woman said she wasn't sure. When I pointed out that I had been there for 20 minutes despite the screen claiming I'd have a five-minute wait, she said they were all booked up and couldn't accommodate me. I went in for a wellness test for my employer - everything came back great except my BMI. Turns out Quest wrote down my weight as "436" instead of "136." Now my employer thinks I'm obese and I no longer qualify for a premium reduction for maintaining good health. I've tried calling the location to correct the error, but there is no way to speak to anyone live on the phone. Now I have to log an official complaint with national. Come on, guys. You work in a lab. Precision is important. At least give me the option to speak to a real person on the phone! read more

To clarify what other reviewers are saying about the front desk: The phlebotomists (the CA state licensed professionals who do your blood draws) also RUN the front desk. That's why there may not be anyone at the front desk when you come in: An available phlebotomist checks in her patient and then takes that patient back and draws the patient's blood, etc. This saves money and is typical of labs. It's normal, though not particularly inviting and could be said to lack hospitality. See my photo: My blood was drawn 4 days ago by a STUDENT (unlicensed and learning) of the De Anza Community College phlebotomy program - on the outside or cephalic vein = NO bruise. Then I was drawn at this Quest location 3 days ago by a professional phlebotomist who has been drawing blood for years or even decades. She drew from my median basilic vein = an ugly bruise, aka hematoma formed. I believe this happened because she did Not make a "pressure bandage" with the tape and gauze. In theory your phlebotomist is supposed to look under the gauze to make sure you have stopped bleeding - mine didn't. If you or the "pressure bandage" does Not apply a substantial amount of pressure right away and continue to hold until the bleeding stops, the blood will leak out of the vein, into the tissues, and you will get a bruise. (There are a number of other ways venipuncture can cause bruises too.) Tip: If you want to minimize bruising, press down firmly on the gauze immediately after you've been drawn and continue to apply pressure for at least 5 minutes - to give your blood a chance to clot. Your phlebotomist will probably interrupt you and put tape on before the 5 minutes is up - so hopefully she or he puts that tape on tight! (This will often help, though again, there are other ways bruising can happen.) Note: Please do Not refer to phlebotomists as "nurses". Nurses they are not. A nurse usually has a degree from a community college, plus has completed the 2 year long nursing program - RN. In contrast a phlebotomist needs only a high school diploma, completion of a state licensed phlebotomy program (often at a community college, but offered through some vocational or "Adult Education" schools), supervised clinical hours, and passing a state exam. They are only licensed to draw blood, and only from certain locations, so do Not ask them to draw from your feet or your IV line, because it's illegal for them to do in California. You will have your blood drawn by a Nurse, if it's done in the Hospital, through your IV line or an ARTERY, instead of a vein (to test your blood gases). Typically that is the only time a nurse will draw your blood, because it's more cost effective to employ people who are paid less to do 1 thing - blood draw or tell you how to wipe for your urinalysis. Nurses are more educated and more expensive...and all medical workers should wear name tags with their titles so that the public has some inkling of the difference. Shitty Location - Super traffic right next to El Camino Hospital - why would they put a lab next to the hospital which has it's own lab, open 24-7? Shitty Hours - have to come back do give urine, because they stop collecting it at 3pm, and not at all on Saturdays. Only open until 4pm - what working person can make it through all the El Camino Real and Grant Rd traffic to get to Quest after work? You have to take the 2nd half of your day off! read more

Had the BEST experience this morning at Quest Diagnostics. This Mountain View location is worth the drive (from Sunnyvale). Parking is easy, clean, easy to check in. I made an appointment online yesterday, although they do take walk-ins. Marg was very helpful and was proactive and friendly to everyone who had appointments (me) and the walk-ins. Marg explained my testing and was caring and helpful. She made my tests easy and even enjoyable. That's saying a lot for a health care professional given our Covid/flu times. Nurses are heroes, and Marg is a gem. Loved my experience this morning. In a time of long lines, stressed out health care professionals and uncertainty, Quest was like an island of sanity and provided me peace of mind. The ladies in the front were rude and the one that ended up taking my information was constantly snapping at me if I said anything. She even got upset at me because their copy machine didn't take a clear copy of my Insurance card. Then she complained that she had to hand write it. Now you wonder why I gave it 3 stars.... Stella who was the phlebotomist was incredibly nice and knew exactly what she was doing. I typically have a hard time when giving blood since you can't see my veins. Stella was able to find it without a problem and I barely felt any pain. If I have to go back again in the future, I may come back here because of Stella but that would be the only reason. read more

Came here to QD Mountain View to get a standard employment drug screening. Upon arrival on time I was pointed to a room where I was to provide a sample for analysis. During the process you are treated like a criminal with emptying your pocket and direct instructions like a 5 year old with no manners. To make it worst their equipment is old and requires a large amount of sample for old equipment analysis. If you need to be treated like a new hire employee and not a criminal goto LabCorp. They have up to date equipment that doesn't require a large sample and treat you like a real customer. read more

I had an appointment here at 7.15am and arrived on time (a couple of minutes early) and checked in. My name was first in the list displayed with a wait time of 5 mins. But that wait time stayed at 5 minutes for a long time while the waiting area for filled up with a whole lot of people. Apparently there was only person managing both the front desk and doing the lab tests! So here I am still waiting at 7.50am! How can one of the first appointments of the morning be so late? Just ridiculous! People have now started leaving and I hope I'll get seen soon enough (still first on the list)! I will say that Stella at the front desk is doing as good a job as possible (and staying calm) but this is simply not acceptable. Stay away from this place unless they can fix the staffing issues. I just took my daughter to this Quest location and we just had one of the friendliest experiences ever in a medical facility of any type. Chris assisted us with checking in and the doing the tests. He was awesome and made my daughter completely comfortable. He even gave my daughter advice on college and a school pre book to check out. I was there before 10 am for a drug test. When I signed in, the estimated waiting time showed 17 minutes. So I waited outside first. However, when the time approached, I went into the lobby. The panel in the lobby said that my waiting time is 3 minutes which I think it's totally fine. However, as time passed, the waiting time went up to 5 minutes, down to 3 minutes, and 1 minute. The last 1 minute was pretty long - I waited about 20 minutes. Then someone registered me for the drug test and asked me to wait again in the lobby. It's another 10 minutes of wait. So the total time I was there for a drug test is around 1 hr. Everyone after me got their test done before me. I was the only one left in the lobby. read more

Strongly recommend making an Appt if you can. If you walk-in, expect to wait anywhere from 15 mins (less likely) to 2+ hours, as the protocol is for the phlebotomists to squeeze you in between the patients with appointments. You will need to wait in the waiting room (limited to 3 patients due to COVID) or stand immediately outside in the courtyard. The wait time on the Quest app is not accurate - said 10 mins, ended up waiting 2 hours. When you arrive, check in on the iPad on the counter (there is no front desk person) and say you will wait in the clinic. Don't fall for the option to have them text you when it's your turn because they will bypass you and move onto the next patient if you are not there when they call your name with zero grace period. I showed up within 30 secs of the text as I was walking around the parking lot and then was told I was bypassed because I was not there. They kindly fit me in after a few more patients after I advocated for myself, but then ended up waiting another 30 minutes. The system is extremely inefficient and not patient centered. I truthfully feel bad for the phlebotomists who have to deal with displeased customers. Quest needs to fix this! read more

I have no idea why this particular Quest Diagnostics got such bad reviews. I came during my lunch hour on a Tuesday afternoon. It wasn't that busy during that time and staff was very nice and even helped me call my OBGYN to get the order for my lab test. Everything was very smooth and they processed my insurance in a timely manner. The man that took my blood was also very kind and patient and gentle. He was very calming and very nice. This location is seriously the best Quest Diagnostics that I have ever been to. There is also ample parking in the parking lot as well. read more

Easy to find, complex was small. And no one was in the waiting area. I checked in using their touch screen device while informing the front desk clerk named Dev T. my intentions. Dev T. was curt and stoic neglected to explain a new EASY PAY process they implemented. So when he gave me a total of $106 after providing my new ins info I asked if I had to pay that now or be billed to confirm with my ins this was correct since I've never had to pay that much. I stepped out to call my ins co. My insurance linked me with a phone representative named Teresa J. who was informative and strait to the point, thank you! Noted that there was a new process regarding billing and not being required to pay & ins 1st being billed. When I returned a woman who was just as curt looked at me then turned back her head to watch the tv behind the desk. So I said hello and again she just stared at me until I asked if she could help me. It's not hard to acknowledge people. What was suppose to be a quick walk in turned out to be an hour + for a blood test. I've had better experiences at other QD offices and this by far was the most awkward and displeasing experience. Had my tests done twice at South Drive Mountain View location and twice my experience was pretty good. Fairly large tests - 20 or so tubes. I usually have very hard to catch veins. Maybe I just got lucky to have Ma (name) to draw, last on 1/3/2020. She's usually not at that location, so I don't know the others. She did tests fast and knew how to manage process, so it went well in both cases. Moreover, she remembered me and the second time went even better. Receptionist also was good in processing. I'm pretty much afraid with my superstition doing this review, when so many people don't give this Quest site high ratings, so next time it won't be that lucky. So, knocking on wood:-). read more

Great experience yesterday-- made an appointment and was out in 10-15 minutes. Also, the phlebotomist did a such a good job that you can't even see a puncture mark! These people are consistently great. I usually get checked in by Chris who is patient and accommodating when I'm disorganized (forget paperwork, late, whatever) and the nurses who do the blood draw seem knowledgeable. I've been told I have hard to hit veins but they always get them and are gentle. The last nurse I saw was Stella and she was so just so pleasant. Consistently seeing getting lab work done is never fun this place makes it tolerable. read more

Not going to lie. I was already hesitant to go to this location after reading all the bad reviews and seeing another person's arm who got a bruise from getting their blood test but I went anyways because it was close to me. Big mistake. The lady who was in the front, European descent, wasn't too nice too everyone who came through the door. Seemed like she was particular to who she wanted to be nice to. Without an appointment I decided to come here since it was pretty early in the morning. With only a couple people with appointments ahead of me it wasn't too long of a wait. The lady who drew my blood was good but it's what after that really bothered me. The test seemed normal like any that I've gotten before. After I took my test I put pressure on the spot as she instructed. Several hours later when I took off the bandage I noticed that the spot was bruised. As the Day went on it got even worse. After being hesitant of even going back I was convinced I should go back to tell them what happened. So I did so the next morning and saw the same lady at the front desk. I told her what happened and asked her if this was normal. She said "did you put pressure on the spot for 5-10 minutes as I instructed?" I told her I did even though she didn't say anything of the sort. She did say sorry but it seemed more forceful. Needless to say I won't be coming back to this location... DO NOT GET BLOOD DRAWN HERE!!!! I went to get blood drawn from this Mountain View location, and afterwards, I noticed dried BLOOD under a roll of tape. This place just isn't sanitary and doesn't care about the safety of their patients. I told the nurse that there's blood under the roll of tape and she told me it's a logo. I'll post the image and you can decide on your own. This place is DISGUSTING!!! I just hope I don't contract any disgusting diseases! Quick Update: I got a call from the real supervisor today. Turns out when I wanted to see the manager, the phlebotomist brought in a fellow coworker and not the real manager.
