Exterior: about ready to enter QUEST DIAGNOSTICS/Suite G

One of the BEST ways I keep track of my health (other than weight) is the results of my bloodwork, and absolutely one of the BEST places is QUEST DIAGNOSTICS! I have had the greatest success at the nearby immaculate QUEST DIAGNOSTICS (205 South Drive, Ste G, Mountain ViewCA 94040 USA ;408.202.4085; questdiagnostics.com) as a walk-in. Despite not having an appointment and possibly having an extended wait time, I walked-in and, after signing-in/logging-in (driver's license/insurance cards required to expedite the process), I waited maybe 10 or 15 minutes before hearing fantastic technician MARGIE call my name. I have had many, many blood draws over the past five decades, and maybe two or three went as smoothly as with MARGIE. She is so experienced/knowledgeable about the process, both from the paperwork (bring a hardcopy of your doctor orders, even if it many pages--I personally think it could be winnowed to fewer) and the jabbing. MARGIE was expert in every aspect, especially with her friendly/professional drawtable-side (bedside) manner. My only regret is that whatever remnants of my Tagalog have long since faded from my Subic Bay/Olongapo days & nights of authoritarian/dictator Marcos martial law 45+ years ago. As much as I look forward to returning, I already know that Cebu (and other points further South), MARGIE's area of origin, will be my focus. I highly recommend this specific QUEST DIAGNOSTICS for blood draws, especially if you can have marvelous MARGIE helping you. She/QUEST DIAGNOSTICS definitely have my highly coveted "iWheel of Approval!"

    This location is VERY busy!

First and foremost. This location isn't easy to find if you aren't from the area. The signs on the buildings out front have no number and "quest diagnostics" is written so small under the two other practice names--so, it's easy to bypass... which I did on my first go around. Secondly, there is limited seating because there are soooo many folks here. Found out while I was waiting that they are pretty short staffed (regularly) and they definitely cop an attitude with folks when questioned about wait time. Ive been in a few different quest labs in my day, and I have to say this location is a bit... dingy. Carpet and seating is old... smells a little musky in the waiting area which is unpleasant. But I came here out of convenience, not comfort, so.... Meh. Be advised--no one is in the reception area to answer your questions or check you in. It is far faster to check-in on your phone if you made an online appointment than to check-in on site, so there's that. Also, don't walk-in. They always prefer appointments over walk-ins... so don't be that individual who complains about the walk-in wait time when you know what the outcome is going to be. Staff is moderately friendly--not very conversational... but they sure are quick and efficient. Can't complain there. I was taken back within 8 minutes of my scheduled appointment time and was out the door within an additional 10. Not bad.

Place is pretty sad as other reviewers have noted. No one to receive you. You are just waiting. Services seem pretty mediocre as well.

They all suck... no one at front desk, line out the door. Very typical bad service that Qwest is famous for.

Inside the blood draw room, there were over 100 vials of patient's blood in sealed test tubes sitting upright in racks. Hmm. I wondered why these weren't in a refrigerator. I also was surprised that there were metal Lab Specimen pick up boxes bolted to the outside wall of the building. It was very hot the day I visited the lab and the sun was beating down on the Lab Specimen pick up boxes. One said LabCorp and the other said Quest. The Phlebotomist was very prompt and came out to get me in the lobby on time. She was very sweet. I did not have a good experience with the draw, however. She used a large gauge needle without a Butterfly. It felt like she hit a nerve, or tendon when she inserted the needle. Right after the draw, I had pain right below where she inserted the needle. When I opened an closed my arm it hurt. This continued for a month. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, a connective tissue disease and my tissues are very fragile. I should have asked the Phlebotomist to use a smaller gauge needle, but I had forgotten. I share my experience with a UCSF Phlebotomist who told me that it sounded like the LabCorp Phlebotomist was in training, because it it standard procedure to use a smaller gauge needle on a very thin arm and a butterfly is always used, as well. When I think about the 100 + test tubes of patient's blood sitting on the counter, I wondered, if the way specimens are stored at this lab location, may have something to do with all of my tests be negative. It is food for thought.

I have been to this ER many…read moretimes as well as being a patient in the main hospital for surgeries and the recovery that follows. I have always experienced excellent care here. I have an auto immune disease that sometimes causes my inflammatory markers to skyrocket and this will cause me so much pain, beyond what I can control at home. That's exactly what happened last week. I knew I was in trouble and needed to get to the ER fast. My husband got us there quickly and I checked in. I was taken to the triage area for my vitals. Luckily I'm in their system. And most of my Doctors are connected with El Camino because they are a part of Sutter Health. So the hospital knows my health history. The waiting area was packed with sick people. I'm thinking, this is going to be a long and painful wait. I was called back to see the Dr. within a few minutes, which was surprisingly quick. They got me a wheelchair and took me back. All of my joints were hurting so bad that it hurt to walk. I explained everything to Dr. Tsai. I appreciated that he listened to me and took the time to ask important questions. I told him I was supposed to get labs done tomorrow for my metabolic panel because I wasn't feeling well and I told him that the way I was feeling probably meant my inflammatory markers, ESR and C-reactive protein were probably very high. He told me he would order all those tests immediately and start me off with pain pills first and then progress to stronger IV meds if the pills didn't work. I also mentioned to him that the new medication that I have been taking for this problem has not been working very well and my rheumatologist was trying to get prior authorization to increase the dose of that new medication. That's why my pain had gotten out of hand. I was sent back to the waiting area, again, to wait to get my labs done. I was again called back within a few minutes. I was taken back for the bloodwork. Then taken to a private patient room, where I could lay down in a bed and get my IV started. I met the nurses that would be taking care of me. I let them know that it's hard finding my veins. I appreciated that the nurse believed me and got a vein finder to help with finding a vein. She was able to find one that was deeper, in my arm, but it was a good vein. She got the IV started. Her patience with getting my IV started was awesome. A lot of times nurses don't believe me when I tell them I'm a hard stick. She was wonderful and did an amazing job with my IV. Since the pills didn't work for my pain, we moved on to stronger IV pain medication. I was also felling nauseated from the pain. They didn't hesitate to give me nausea medication, right away. As it turned out, my inflammatory markers were extraordinarily high. They gave me the best pain management over the next several hours and didn't discharge me until my pain was under control and I was more relaxed and calm. Pain like that is horrible. I want to give a huge thank you to Dr. Tsai and nurses for listening to me and my pain concerns and doing everything they could to stabilize me. I have followed up with my doctors and am on a new medication regimen to help with the inflammation. I am finally feeling better. The medical team here, treated me with respect and dignity. Everyone was very professional and kind. I am grateful to the medical team that took care of me that day. Thank you to Dr. Tsai and the nurses that all worked collaboratively, to get me feeling better.

I'm one of those people who tries to avoid going to the emergency room unless I think I'm about to die. And that was indeed the situation. I showed up at about 6 AM and I was one of two people there. So I was able to get processed and brought in very quickly. I was very impressed by the security people in the triage process as well as how they nurses, doctor, and techs took care of me. When I left a few hours later, the emergency room was packed and very chaotic. One doesn't get to choose what time an emergency happens but in my case, I'm glad that it was at a time when things weren't very busy.

I first called the office to make an appointment and she was very rude and seemed irritated when answering my questions. At my appointment, she was very curt and impolite as well. After giving her my urine sample, she instantly said that I would not pass and pretty much accused me of diluting my urine. I only had maybe 20 ounces of water 45 minutes prior to my test. My urine did look more on the clear side but keep in mind my test was at 3 pm in the afternoon. I can understand her assumptions, but it's inappropriate to make any conclusions if you aren't the actual one performing a lab test. I asked her what further actions I can take and why she was saying I would not pass, and again, she was VERY rude and did not want to answer any of my questions. She told me that prior to my drug test, I should not be drinking water for two days and that my body will "naturally" produce enough water for me. She told me that when the lab would receive my urine, they won't even test the sample and automatically mark my sample as diluted. Never have I heard that and if it were true, it should and would've been prefaced prior to my appointment. She rudely rushed me out of her office feeling very unsettled and panicked, as this employment test is very important for my career. I was scrambling around, calling HR and my supervisor if I can order another test. After asking around nurses, doctors, AND employees that actually work at a lab, they told me that what I was told, was absolute bullshit and to not worry. Two days later, my employer received my lab test, in contrast to Dr. Mersedeh Eghdami's beliefs, they were able to test my sample. Save your money and your time, and go somewhere else. My experience here was very terrible and unpleasant from the moment I called to make an appointment. As a medical professional, how can you make a client feel so unsettled walking out?

With the weekend coming up, I was unable to reach my own doctor and even Urgent care was booked for the rest of the week. I checked on Yelp and found Josephs great reviews and sent him a message about my condition. He immediately responded and told me he could make time at the end of his work day to help me do the ultrasound (knowing my condition). Whats really great is that I could pay out of the pocket at a great price without worrying about my medical insurance limitability, which most places will not take. On the same day, I drove to his office in the afternoon and met him. I told him about my worries and he was just so understanding, comforting and told me he would do his best to find any issues and would even provide a note to emergency in case he found something that needed immediate attention. As we went through the ultrasound he kept reassuring me about things, and did a super thorough scan of the area I was concerned about. He provided me with a lot of information, including images I could take home and a report that was sent to me within a few hours.
