She is so kind, caring and sweet. Chelsie has also recently drawn my blood and each time has found my veins very easily! A lot of techs usually have a hard time with my veins. Thank you for making my experience a great one! Also, I am always able to find available appointment times on short notice.

The nurse / tech performing the blood draw had issues finding the vein. They had to use both arms. Even then, they use the needle on the extraction device to probe in, out, and around in each arm multiple times. 7 times in the right arm. 4 times in the left arm. With success only in the left arm. The blood draw experience at this site, with that person is different from almost every other experience in a clinic, hospital, or blood donation site. With other nurses / techs being able to easily find the vein. Historically, I have given blood test samples in over 60 various office visits, and blood donations of 19 pints over my life. So I have more than a few experiences to compare LabCord San Mateo against. Outside of the blood draw, the staff at the San Mateo location was both pleasant and professional to deal with. The front office and draw rooms were both neat and clean. With the site location signage easy to see and understand. The office location itself was easy to find. With plenty of parking available. If I use LabCorp San Mateo again then I will likely ask for a different nurse / tech to perform the blood draw. Otherwise I give LabCorp San Mateo a "Definite Maybe" for my recommendation. Maybe that will change in the future.

We used to drive to the UCSF Cancer Infusion Center at their Mission Bay location in San Francisco, which was a long drive, plus we had to deal with city traffic and finding parking. This Burlingame location has reduced our commute time. And there is has always been ample parking in the garage. We have come here on 3 different visits, and there were no problems finding parking each time. There's a large waiting area that also has tea & coffee station. They have a similar setup as the SF location, minus the view. The SF location has huge floor to ceiling windows to let in natural light and also offer a nice view while you receive your infusion. This Burlingame location has a small window (top half of the wall) , and no view (especially when they pull down the shades) . The infusion center staff here are just as nice as the ones at the SF locarion.. The infusion chairs here are made by La-z-boy, and offer recline positions. I really dislike writing less than stellar reviews for companies that I have only dealt with once…read morebecause I believe in second and third impressions; however, I am going to break my own rule here because I think it is fair to review companies like this after one visit because unlike restaurants most of us do not get blood drawn regularly. Momma said try to say something good about people so let me start by saying that the people who assisted me, the blood drawer and her supervisor, were "sweet as pie." They had wonderful personalities and were nice young ladies. Unfortunately this is the only good thing that I can report. My initial impression of the office was that it was a cold place. The miniscule waiting area was decorated with furniture you might purchase in the discount section of an inexpensive dime store. You are not greeted by anyone; instead there is a phone that you are instructed to pIck up to reach a receptionist. After the phone rang about twenty times, the phlebotomist, who is "sweet as pie," came to greet me. This is where the fun started. I entered the room and a supervisor entered and said "I am so and so, the supervisor and I will be supervising your blood draw. The phlebotomist then proceeded to take my blood pressure and the supervisor left. I asked the phlebotomist to use the long blood pressure sleeve and she replied that they did not have one. In fact, the blood pressure sleeve they used had a Walgreens label. They took my blood pressure three times and had three very different readings. The urine test was an adventure. I mean, come on, how difficult can a urine test be? I was given a plastic cup that looked like the cup that accompanies delivered sushi. The cup had no label and no top. I was told to leave the cup in the bathroom when I was done. I did as instructed and left an unlabeled sushi cup full of piss on top of the commode. The blood draw was equally fun. I recommended my right arm (I know these things because a get complete physicals bi-annually) and after examining my left arm the phlebotomist agreed that my right arm would be best. I felt the poke, turned my head and after two minutes she withdrew the needle. I asked if we were done and she replied "I did not get it." I wondered why she had a needle in my vain for about ninety seconds before she determined that she should try another route. The phlebotomist went into another room to fetch the supervisor (who was supervising from another room) to ask if she could draw blood from my hand. I reluctantly said yes. Guess what happened next? Yes, you are right; she poked for about ninety seconds and could not draw blood notwithstanding the fact that the veins on my hands are as clear as a full moon on a clear night. At this point I wondered why the hell the supervisor did not take over. Perhaps, I should be glad that they gave up. Finally, it was time for the Electrocardiography (EKG). This was the first time I was told that I would be given an EKG. Had they told me in advance, like when I told them on the phone that I would jog six miles to their office first thing Saturday for the exam, I might have driven my car. I am happy to report that there was a happy ending. They agreed to have a licensed nurse come to my office (which they were supposed to have done in the first place) come to my office. After much thought, about three seconds, I passed and requested that my insurance company find a more competent company.

A long overdue review. I will need to make it short, but would like to praise Peninsula Hospital…read morefor the very attentive care I received in 2011 for a major surgery. Fast forward to 2022 when I came down with covid - I had a horrendous experience in the emergency room - I could hear staff chatting away as though they were junior high kids at a party in another room. The ER doctor at that time told me I had "severe covid" and needed medication - a medication that had been understood would destroy a person's kidneys in a short amount of time. I refused the medication. I could mention many other concerning things about my treatment in the emergency room that night, but honestly, this review would end up being much too long. The good news is when I was admitted to a room on the 4th floor it was a different staff and they were great. I asked the doctor who came to see me if I had "severe" covid (as the emergency room doc said) and she said, "no, it's mild, but you are dehydrated and your electrolytes are off." Wow, how could one doctor say "It's severe and you need to have medication" (that will cause harm to my kidneys) and the other have a completely different diagnosis? The 4th floor staff took good care of me the remaining days I was there. Then in 2023, I ended up needing emergency room care again, and an xray tech walked in and said he needed a scan of my heart; I reminded him that due to my health situation (from a previous diagnosis) recommends for me to be careful about having too many xrays, and he said in a gruff tone, "Well, I need to do this anyway," and acted like he could care less. It is my understanding that all over our country, the best nurses and medical staff left their jobs because they knew the vaccines were not fully tested and they were being required to get the covid vaccine in order to keep their jobs. It seems the smart ones left and, unfortuantely, I get the impression that they've had to hire less-than-competent staff since then. I'm hope there have been some improvements to staff and training since 2022 and 2023.

Despite this: * Substandard Technique: The technician, Mark, failed to examine both arms for viable veins before attempting to prick me. * Physical Harm: Mark made 3 unsuccessful attempts. When I requested he stop after the third painful prick, he was dismissive of my concerns, stating, "I've been doing this for 24 years." This resulted in significant bruising on my left arm. They finally brought in a PICC nurse after that. * Procedure Failure: During the scan, the contrast administration was extremely painful because of contrast flow not being adjusted properly. Furthermore, the contrast did not appear in the initial images. Because of this technical failure, I was forced to return for a second MRI.
