The nurse / tech performing the blood draw had issues finding the vein. They had to use both arms. Even then, they use the needle on the extraction device to probe in, out, and around in each arm multiple times. 7 times in the right arm. 4 times in the left arm. With success only in the left arm. The blood draw experience at this site, with that person is different from almost every other experience in a clinic, hospital, or blood donation site. With other nurses / techs being able to easily find the vein. Historically, I have given blood test samples in over 60 various office visits, and blood donations of 19 pints over my life. So I have more than a few experiences to compare LabCord San Mateo against. Outside of the blood draw, the staff at the San Mateo location was both pleasant and professional to deal with. The front office and draw rooms were both neat and clean. With the site location signage easy to see and understand. The office location itself was easy to find. With plenty of parking available. If I use LabCorp San Mateo again then I will likely ask for a different nurse / tech to perform the blood draw. Otherwise I give LabCorp San Mateo a "Definite Maybe" for my recommendation. Maybe that will change in the future.

Check-in through the kiosk was quick and easy, though they weren't able to verify my insurance and it had to be updated afterward. Once checked in, I only waited about 10 minutes before being called, and I was in and out in under 30 minutes. The blood draw was one of the most painless I've had. Staff were friendly! Parking was a bit confusing, I ended up in a cash-only garage next door, but there's also metered street parking available.

This is more convenient for us since we are coming from the south bay. We used to drive to the UCSF Cancer Infusion Center at their Mission Bay location in San Francisco, which was a long drive, plus we had to deal with city traffic and finding parking. This Burlingame location has reduced our commute time. And there is has always been ample parking in the garage. We have come here on 3 different visits, and there were no problems finding parking each time. There's a large waiting area that also has tea & coffee station. They have a similar setup as the SF location, minus the view. The SF location has huge floor to ceiling windows to let in natural light and also offer a nice view while you receive your infusion. This Burlingame location has a small window (top half of the wall) , and no view (especially when they pull down the shades) . The infusion center staff here are just as nice as the ones at the SF locarion.. The infusion chairs here are made by La-z-boy, and offer recline positions. There are lab & scan services on another floor. We had come here for CT Scans. It's more convenient than going to the UCSF location on Berry Street in SF.

I couldn't find costs specified anywhere ). I went in and immediately said. "How much are the flu and Covid boosters ?" No one. NO ONE ! Could tell me. I shoulda left right then. Someone said. "Should be less than $100". I said. "Ok. I don't have insurance I'd like to pay now." "Oh it doesn't work that way. We bill you." Again. I shoulda left. No other industry can't quote a price up front. Or collect payment at time of service. Anyways I just paid a $376 bill for literally 1 minute of asking the price and being told "No. we like to surprise our patients !" And 28 seconds of "poke squirt. Poke squirt ". $376 ?!! For two community health related vaccines ? At a "low cost clinic " I'm furious. I checked online. It should be no more than $100 I got duped for trusting these people. Don't fall for it. Beware !!
