The lab technician told me not covered by Medicare and I can decline or get billed. I left room to verify Medicare indeed does cover. There's a bald technician who was rude and impeded my return to let technician know that my insurance will cover. I told him the room number. I was escorted to lab room by tech herself and I reminded her to go ahead and bill Medicare because website says PSA covered. I don't have to pay!

However, they recently started having a person who's assigned to help you check-in. If they're not already in the waiting room, they'll wait to see if you struggle first before they come out for your assistance (or maybe there's a button on the screen for you to ask for help? Not sure. Never needed help checking in) Sometimes if the standby list is short, I would recommend just getting on the standby list. It generally moves pretty fast, as long as the appt line isn't super long and if they aren't understaffed. Otherwise, make an appt on the kiosk and come back later. Or better yet, DOWNLOAD THE APP and set an appt for yourself to avoid all the nonsense mentioned previously. The phlebotomists are hit or miss; mostly the staff are great but there is the occasional person who can take a couple classes on compassion and bedside manners. Regardless, I come in for a regular blood draw every 3months. My wait time can vary greatly. But always when I get seen and make it to the back, I'm served pretty quickly. Make sure you bring a face mask when you come! There can be a lot of people in the small waiting room and you may be surrounded by a bunch of sick or coughing people.

So I mentioned it to my NP who then referred me again in April. The person from my NP's office in charge of outgoing referrals contacted me to let me know she faxed my referral to Central Valley Cardiologist. Again, no phone call from them. So I waited 3 months before calling them myself. The receptionist was completely rude and could not grasp the fact that I had legally changed my name to align with my gender identity and wasted 5 minus of my time telling me she couldn't find me under my new name... we went back and forth with me telling her all of my documents and ID cards have been updated to reflect my new name, she still didn't seem to get it so she put me on hold to speak with the referral person. !0 minutes of silence so I hung up and tried back. The 2nd person I got was equally rude. She transfered me to a 3rd person who was the rudest of all. This person kept saying they never got a referral, and they refused to take the pre-auth number I was told to give them by my doctor. She said I could drive down there to show them the piece of paper I had but she couldn't take it over the phone or schedule me until she had the 15 page referral document. Nevermind the fact that I'd already been there 3 years earlier and they have my records on file. She kept saying the Dr. needs to review my info. I asked her why she was so incompetant and she couldn't answer me. Yet, another sign of their incompetence. All three of them completely rude and incompetant. If you have the option to avoid this office, please do so. Because my original referral was due to intense dizziness with extremely high blood pressure - so they would rather argue with me than set me up with an appointment. This showed me that they cared more about winning an argument than about patient healthcare. They do not care about what's best for the patient. They would rather play games and treat you like you're the one that's the problem. I don't know what happened to the staff at this office over the last 3 years, but they should all be fired and start again with fresh people who are happy to have a job, people who want to help others and take ownership, not refer them out or tell them they can't be seen there.

I went in through the ER and the only bad thing I can say is they are severely understaffed and they don't have enough beds to meet the needs of the area. It also doesn't help that they don't yet have a location for psych patients so they take up over half of the ED. They treat the entire Merced area and surrounding cities. I don't know why the reviews are poor aside from the obvious things this hospital faces. My nurses Shiriel, Krystal and Josue have made my stay that much better. The Chaplain Andrews is very compassionate and has helped keep me focused during my recovery. Their staff really checks on the quality of patient care when you are admitted. My doctor Dr. Nanra is very knowledgeable and personable. He makes himself available to his patients and is sure to check in with you and hear your concerns before continuing his work. I will definitely be returning in the future if I need care. This is an excellent ethical hospital. Not sure yet when I'm getting discharged but I know my medical team will be there to assist every step of the way until I'm better and I'm in good hands. The grounds are beautiful and this hospital focuses on making the patient feel cared for and heard! My mother cannot manage medical appointments independently, and relies on family assistance and transportation. I live in Los Banos and have to coordinate her care from out of town, including traveling to take her to appointments. Trying to schedule or cancel imaging with this facility has been extremely frustrating and unacceptable. The biggest issue is their phone system. When "all representatives are busy," the system disconnects the call instead of allowing patients or caregivers to leave a message or remain in a queue. I have called repeatedly and have been unable to reach anyone. This is not a one-time inconvenience; it has been an ongoing problem. I was also told that I may need to physically come to the facility just to schedule imaging appointments. That is an unreasonable expectation for patients who cannot drive, rely on caregivers, or use assisted transportation. Requiring a separate trip just to schedule an appointment creates a major barrier to care. This is not just poor customer service. It interferes with timely access to medically necessary imaging. Patients should not have to fight a broken phone system or travel in person simply to make, change, or cancel appointments. Because this has been a repeated issue, I will be reporting the access-to-care concerns to the appropriate oversight agencies, insurance plan, and patient relations/administration. Families dealing with serious medical concerns should not have to work this hard just to get someone on the phone.
