The lab technician told me not covered by Medicare and I can decline or get billed. I left room to verify Medicare indeed does cover. There's a bald technician who was rude and impeded my return to let technician know that my insurance will cover. I told him the room number. I was escorted to lab room by tech herself and I reminded her to go ahead and bill Medicare because website says PSA covered. I don't have to pay!

Local clinic for you to do your blood draws and labs. I think this branch is relatively clean, but…read morethe self check-in process can be a little confusing for folks, especially if it's their first time and even more so if English isn't their first language (which is a huge patient population for Quest in this area). However, they recently started having a person who's assigned to help you check-in. If they're not already in the waiting room, they'll wait to see if you struggle first before they come out for your assistance (or maybe there's a button on the screen for you to ask for help? Not sure. Never needed help checking in) Sometimes if the standby list is short, I would recommend just getting on the standby list. It generally moves pretty fast, as long as the appt line isn't super long and if they aren't understaffed. Otherwise, make an appt on the kiosk and come back later. Or better yet, DOWNLOAD THE APP and set an appt for yourself to avoid all the nonsense mentioned previously. The phlebotomists are hit or miss; mostly the staff are great but there is the occasional person who can take a couple classes on compassion and bedside manners. Regardless, I come in for a regular blood draw every 3months. My wait time can vary greatly. But always when I get seen and make it to the back, I'm served pretty quickly. Make sure you bring a face mask when you come! There can be a lot of people in the small waiting room and you may be surrounded by a bunch of sick or coughing people.

Came back in and said she had the flu. They never checked her temperature, ears, throat, etc. they didn't do a physical at all to assess her. The dr didn't give me any care instructions, just that she was good to go In 3 days. And that she prescribed Tylenol/motrin. Then she walked out. Well my daughter didn't improve, even after 7 days! she will be going to see her actual doctor for a true diagnosis. Went to see her regular Dr. she has pneumonia!! Shame on this urgent care for not being thorough.

As we approached the building, an employee slammed out of an employee entrance and nearly hit me. I jumped back and she mumbled an irritated apology. Then, we went inside. A bored receptionist told us that they would not be able to see my friend because she would need an x-ray and they don't do that on the weekends. Therefore, she said there were only two options: we could wait until Monday or we to the ER. She had no solutions that involved even helping my friend with the obvious pain she was in. Instead, we went to Golden Valley Health Center and they got her in immediately. She left there in under half an hour with a pain medication prescription, cray paperwork, and a sling. I just did not see the quality of concern or care at Get Well that one expects from healthcare providers.

No masks. All had to pass through the receptionist who just didn't care. All nurses calling patients in didn't say anything either.

Melissa at El Portal Imaging Center for your next mammogram: highly recommended!…read more I used to call it my annual smash-o-gram but no longer. Melissa snaps on her purple latex gloves, explains everything as she is doing it, and makes sure to position you so there is no extra skin being pulled during the compression process. With Melissa at the controls: NO DISCOMFORT WHATSOEVER. Well, other than the usual, hey, my boob's out there in the wind and an unfamiliar person is handling it. If you can get past that, they try to make it as spa-like as possible, with heated deodorant removal (before) and application (after) wipes, clean uncluttered surroundings, and a squishy couch if you have to wait, which I have never actually used. No waiting. If you abosolutely must have your boobs smashed - and every woman does after a certain age - El Portal Imaging Center in Merced is the place. Ask for Melissa.

My mother cannot manage medical appointments independently, and relies on family assistance and transportation. I live in Los Banos and have to coordinate her care from out of town, including traveling to take her to appointments. Trying to schedule or cancel imaging with this facility has been extremely frustrating and unacceptable. The biggest issue is their phone system. When "all representatives are busy," the system disconnects the call instead of allowing patients or caregivers to leave a message or remain in a queue. I have called repeatedly and have been unable to reach anyone. This is not a one-time inconvenience; it has been an ongoing problem. I was also told that I may need to physically come to the facility just to schedule imaging appointments. That is an unreasonable expectation for patients who cannot drive, rely on caregivers, or use assisted transportation. Requiring a separate trip just to schedule an appointment creates a major barrier to care. This is not just poor customer service. It interferes with timely access to medically necessary imaging. Patients should not have to fight a broken phone system or travel in person simply to make, change, or cancel appointments. Because this has been a repeated issue, I will be reporting the access-to-care concerns to the appropriate oversight agencies, insurance plan, and patient relations/administration. Families dealing with serious medical concerns should not have to work this hard just to get someone on the phone.
